Generating a flat file
Hi,
I have data in my oracle DB and I generated the data using procedure, using consume adapter service, oracleDBbinding.
The schema has been formed in my Visual Studio project which it will be my source schema. Now I need to generate a text file with a flat file format!! How do I accomplish that?
I need that text file with a flat file format in order to create my destination schema using the flat file schema wizard!
helpful!
But I still can't figure out how to generate oracle data in a flat file format and insert these
data to my destination schema using flat file wizard.
What I'm trying to explain is that I don't have a sample file of data which I need to create based on the data that is available in Oracle DB.
Example of data:
PO1999-10-20
US Alice Smith 123 Maple Street Mill Valley CA 90952
US Robert Smith 8 Oak Avenue Old Town PA 95819

Load of hierarchies from R/3 via flat file: how to generate the flat file?
Hello,
I need to build a custom extractor for a hierarchy. The hierarchy exists in R/3, but there's no standard datasource to extract it. I know I can upload it via flat file, but I have a question related to this.
Does anyone know if there's a program (standard or custom by SAP) or function module in R/3 which allows me to generate that flat file, with the required format by BW?
I would appreciate very much any help about this topic
Thanks in advanceIn CO-PA there is a way to generate Hierarchy Extractors (see Note 422175 for more details). With a Custom Program you generate a specific DataSource.
Hope it helps

PatriciaHi Patricia,
if there is, I'd love to get hold of it.
I have only ever managed this by extracting the relevant data into Excel and then doing a long series of VLOOKUPS to establish parent and child ids.
I have a sample spreadsheet I can send you if you like.

Trying to generate csv flat files from GoldenGate
Hi,
I am new to GoldenGate and I am trying to evaluate GG, I am trying to use GoldenGate for Flat Files.
I was able to generate a trail file from a 1 row table, on the same DB but different installation ggs_src
and I placed this file on the target GG ggs_trg dirdat folder manually "cp /oracle/u04/ggs_src/dirdat/bb000000 /oracle/u04/ggs_trg/dirdat".
However when I start my FF extract I do not see any FF files under dirout (default output location)..
Here is what I did:
EXTRACT SRCONV
SOURCEDEFS ./dirdef/t1pg.def
CUSEREXIT ./flatfilewriter.so CUSEREXIT PASSTHRU includeupdatebefores, params "./ffwriter.properties"
TABLE T1.*;
ggsci> ADD EXTRACT srconv, EXTTRAILSOURCE ./dirdat/bb
ggsci> start srconv
and here is the SRCONV.rpt

Any idea why?
Thanks in Advance
AlaaHi Mike
Thanks for your input..
We are in an early evaluation phase, where we want to move data from Oracle to a local ETL/Application system..
I downloaded the latest Oracle GG Adapter 11.2.1.x and re-did everything.
However, its the same result..
Any idea??
Thanks in Advance..

Error while generating a flat file from oracle database
i have imported three knowledge modules for the interafce.
LKM SQL to SQL
IKM SQL to FILE Append
CKM oracle
I have tried executing the interface in following ways
1. checked the staging area different from target and choosed SUNOPSIS_MEMORY_ENGINE. three boxes appeared in the flow but i could not see any of the knowledge modules in the flow and i could not select form the drop down also.
all the three boxes were showing the error.
2. checked the staging area different from target and choosed a oracle logical schema. my flow has two boxes.
For the source i have given LKM SQL to SQL and for target i have given IKM SQL to FILE append
But the interface is erroring out while creating the load table... the error message is missing parameter
IS there anything i have to do apart from thisif your file ouput file has Date field,Numeric field then there is a chance for failure. Try making all the output fields as Varchar2.

Font formatting for Flat file generated in PI
Hi,
We have a File receiver scenario in PI wherein we are generating a Flat file. While creating the file, the font needs to be of specific font type and size
eg:
Pyramid u2013 Lucida Console (Size 10)
Aspheria u2013 I5_10N (Size 10)
Is there any way this can be configured or implemented in PI?Hi ,
This requirement we can achieve using XSLT Mapping,we can define the font size in mapping program it self, select output method in xslt program as TEXT,no need of any file content conversion in Receiver Communication channel.
refer this link how to uses the methods for font sizes.

XML data (Output) into a flat file
I need to convert XML data into a flat file, which is having "|" as delimiter and ftp the same to a server. The XML data is an output of BPEL activity. The XML data is employee records. Each employee records should come as one line in the flat file.
Is it possible to do this? if so, what will be the steps
ThanksHi,
You need to use file adapter to write your XML payload as a flat file.
Following are the steps to write XML payload into a flat file:
1. Create a sample flat file and add few rows in which fields should be delimited with pipe symbol. See the record sample given below:
Name|Age|Address|City|State|Zip
Sam|32|2788 Viking Dr|Green Bay|WI|54304
Here first row is the header row, you can remove the header row if it is not required.
2. Create a file adapter service using adapter configuration wizard. Give file name and folder location where you want to write flat file. On step 5 of the adapter configuration wizard you have to define or select message schema. Click on Define Schema for Native Format button, then Native Format Builder Wizard will be opened, here you can define message schema for your flat file.
2.1 Here you need to select Delimited for file type.
2.2 Give details about your flat file, select your sample flat file here, which you have created in step 1 above.
2.3 Click Next button twice and go to step 4, here give namespace and element names you want and click on Next.
2.4 In step 5 you need to specify delimiters. Wizard doesn’t shows *|* as a delimiter so you need to enter *|* in the Delimited By combo box and click on Next button.
2.5 Complete remaining steps and click on Finish in the wizard.
3. Finish "Adapter Creation Wizard". Add BPEL activities (assign, invoke) to pass XML payload to file adapter and file adapter will generate *|* delimited flat file and write it to the given folder.
See the following article for more details on Native Format Builder Wizard:

Background job finished but flat file not created in the Background
Dear all,
ZHR_CSD program is scheduled to run daily at 00:01:00. This program is generating the flat file in the folder CSD/HR.
when i schedule this program to run immediately it is generating the flat file.
But when i schedule this program in Background it is not generating flat file .
RegardsHi,
As suggested by Eric, your Z Program is probably using GUI_DOWNLOAD Function Module.
GUI_DOWNLOAD or any other GUI function modules (FM) will only run in foreground, not in Background.
Ask your developer to code that Z Program with OPEN DATASET logic, if its possible.
The Reverse situation is well described in [this thread|Background Job assigment with variant in SM37 , for Textfile uploading], please refer it to get some relative information for the same.

How to insert sysdate in a flat file
Hi All,
i have a interafce i extract data from oracle database and generate a flat file.
In one of the columns i have to insert sysdate in the file.
could someone help me how to add the sysdate in flat file.
Thanks in advance
NaveenHi Naveen,
Trying to contribute a little,
Yes you can use sunopsis CURRENT_DATE function to get the sysdate.
@ your interface
1. In the definition, make sure your staging area different from target is checked and SUNOPSIS MEMEORY ENGINE is selected.
2. In the diagram, for the column which you want date to be inserted just say CURRENT_DATE and make it to execute on STAGING.
3. In the Flow, you have to see 3 boxes, in the first box select LKM SQL to SQL, in the second box make it as UNDEFINED, in the third box select IKM SQL To FIle Append and select the options accordingly.
Makes sens?
Thanks,

New EDI Implementation - Flat File format for SPSI in eCommerce Gateway
Hi,
we are trying to setup EDI with a business partner, goal is to import a DELFOR message into Oracle Order Management. Plans are: translate the inbound message into the SPSI flat file format, load it through eCommerce Gateway / Release Management into Order Management.
For this purpose I'd like to test to the import of a SPSI flat file into eCommerce Gateway / Release Management, however I have difficulties to get a proper flat file. Is there a way to generate example flat files somehow? I tried to generate my own flat file, based on the Oracle manuals, but how can I be sure that the format is correct (besides of running the import program)? Any advice on this?
Or is there a better way, e.g. through XML files?
Thanks in advance,
David.Hi, thanks for the response.
Yes I use that report already to get the details of the flat file. But what I am missing is for example which records are repeated, e.g. for every 4000 record, do I need one 0010 record, or can I put multiple 4000 records within one 0010 record?
regards,
David. -

DMEE Tree Change from flat file to XML
Hi DMME Gurus,
We have a custom DMEE tree that generates a flat file. I need to convert it in such a way that XML will be created. I could not find this option in Transaction DMEE. Is this possible? Can you please tell how to do this?
Or is it correct that I need to create another tree (for XML file) again from scratch? As pop up screen will appear when creating new DMEE tree that will ask you what format you like (flat or XML). Please advise.
Thank you.
Best regards,
BrandoHI,
Possible mention the source Message/Data Type and Target Data Type and Mapping Rules reuired. Then I think it may be useful to give some hints.
btw , What is the error in Mapping ?
