Generating a sequence diagram for an ADF/BC project

hi folks,
is there an automatic way to produce a sequence diagram? Read something about debug mode but its not working that way.
Any help apreciated

Hi John,
thanks for the info but the documentation says somewhat about break points, but where to set them isnt mentioned - so nothing gets drawn in the diagram. Any info on that would be appreciated. Do i need several break points and especially where do i set them?
I was allready wondering how a sequence diagram for an adf/bc project would look like - especially if no beans are involved.

    Hi,
I have already posted a thread regarding Data Flow diagram for existing source code. But I couldn't find find where exactly I have posted. So here I am posting my observations. I would like to prepare a Data Flow diagram for existing Source code. Using Visustin V7 I got the Data Flow Diagram. But am not able to export or Save or Print the diagram. As some one suggested it is possible to get the DFD using Visio. But am not able to get the DFD. Here am getting the problem like , Gave user name and Server name by connecting to ODBC. But still am not getting the required DFD.
Can you please suggest me is there any way to get the DFD using Visio or any tool is there to get the DFD.
    Please advice.
    Thanks.

  • How to generate Sequence Diagrams for existing code

    Hi,
I have a web application written in Java/Jsp's. I am looking to generate sequence diagrams automatically for the existing source code using this tool. I am not sure if this is possible using this tool. Can some one please explain me if that is possible using this IDE tool? If so can you please let me know how this can be done?

    Hi,
Yes, you can reverse engineer operations and create sequence diagrams using Java Studio Enterprise.
Just right-click on the operation in the UML model that has the source file associated with it, and select "Create Diagram from Selected elements" or "Reverse Engineer Operation".
    Thanks!

To be fair to Phil, the person wasn't asking how to do a sequence diagram, they just wanted one given to them. I'm sure they would have got a more friendly/informative reply if they had actually asked how to do one.

  • Creating UML sequence diagrams using UML Modeler

Has anyone tried to generate UML sequence diagrams using JDev's Modeler utility. Is there a workaround for creating sequence diagrams. Does Oracle have an very near-term plans for supporting sequence diagrams.
    Thank you.
    Antonio

While I've done a bit of work with UML, I'm by no means an expert, so this may be a dumb question...
Isn't the point of UML (and other modeling languages) to abstract the design of a system away from the implementation? I'm hard pressed to think of a situation where a UML diagram would change based on the language chosen for implementation.

  • Unable to generate Logical Model Diagrams through Reverse Engineering

    Hi,
I am currently using SQL Developer Data Modeler Version-3.0.04.
I have generated Logical Model Diagrams from Relational Model Diagrams through Reverse Engineering (Done by pressing an" engineer to Logical Model button" on top panel of sql developer) .I saved the DMD file (source file) once i had done generating the logical diagrams. Now if i reopen the DMD and open the logical diagram again I found that most of the tables had lost their relationships. So i tried to regenerate the Logical Model Diagram again from the same Relational Diagram but it is not being generated unless i create a new Relational Diagram. Is there a way to generate multiple Logical Diagrams for the same Relational Diagram rather than creating a new one for each Logical Diagram to be created.
    Regards .
    Thanks in advance.

  • Sequence diagram arrows are misplaced

The arrows in the sequence diagram are not in place after few changes to the diagram.
When I draw the sequence diagram for the first time, the tail of the arrow sits on the left side object line and the arrow head to the right side object line. The line is drawn well and in position.
I believe I closed the projects and opened them after few days, and observe all the arrow lines skewed from their positions. The arrow tail now starts much before the left side object line and the arrow head ends much before the right side object line on the right side.
I am not sure if I am clear enough here since viewing the picture may make more sense.
    Samba

I too have experienced weirdness from the Seq diagram with line placement. Have you tried auto-layout? If you use this feature, just make sure you do a save before because there is no undo.
Right click the blank area of the diagram, select Layout- Properties. There are some setting in there that may be of some interest to you.
Then try to do a auto-layout. Then you can try some manual adjustments and/or use the Incremental Layout feature (should be right most button on UML toolbar).
Not sure if this will fix your issues, but may be of some help.

  • Best practices for large ADF projects?

I've heard mention (for example, ADF Large Projects of documentation about dealing with large ADF projects. Where exactly is this documentation? I'm interested in questions like whether Fusion web applications can have more than one ViewController project (different names, of course), more than one Model project, the best way to break up applications for ease of maintenance, etc. Thanks.
    Mark

    I'd like to mention something:
Better have unix machines for your development.
Have at least 3 GB of RAM on windows machines.
Create all your commonly used LOVs & VOs first.
If you use web services extensively, create it as a seperate app.
Make use of popups, it's very user friendly and fast too. You no need to deal with browser back button.
If you want to use common page template, create it at the beginning. It's very difficult if you want to apply it later after you developed pages.
Use declarative components for commonly used forms like address, etc.
Search the forum, you will see couple of good util classes.
When you check-in the code, watch out some of the files don't show up in JDev like connections.xml
Make use of this forum, you will get answers immediately from great experts.

  • Generate sequence nuumber for line items.

    Hi,
    Am using jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0
I have generated a form using master detail. po_header as master and po_line as child in po_line i need to generate the sequence number.
    The problem am facing is
If i generate using create sequence in my DB. Its working fine.
    consider
I have po_number 1234 for this po_line while i click the add button the sequence number is added. for eg: form 1 to 10 i have the po_line against po_number.
If am created another po_number 12345 for this while i click the add button the sequence number starts from 11...., But it need to be started from 1 since its a different po.
Could anyone help me how to acheive this?
    Regards,
    Prasad K T,

    Hi,
in addition, have a look how you would model the line items in a database schema. Here you would have purchase orders and line items in separate tables that are linked with a foreign key. To uniquely address line items you would have a unique sequence in the line items table. What you are looking for is a combined key (purchase order AND line item ID) to have line items numbered 1 .. 10 (this however, from a database design aspect makes no sense).

  • API for drawing sequence diagrams?

    yeah it does help

  • Selecting Operations for Messages in Sequence Diagrams

Is there another way of assigning operations to messages in sequence diagrams apart from selecting the message, right-clicking and then selecting the operation from the list.
The reason is that I have quite a list of operations and I can't see the last couple in the list.
Any suggestions? ...Apart from having less operations... :)

The only way to specify the operation is via the context menu. We have two levels. On is the operation context menu. The second is the context menus that list each operation by visibility. Are you not able to see all of the operations under the visibility context menus as well?
