Generating an image to be displayed by Apex
Hi,
Does anyone have some experience or ideas as to how to generate an image based on data within an Apex application and then render it back within the Apex application?
Assuming that the program has access to the database:
1. what is the best way to execute the program
2. where does the program place the image so that the client-browser can pick it up? I cannot seem to locate the document root for Apex.

Nothing so complicated! I used an external table to trigger a script that generated svg data from the database data. Then in an HTML Apex region, I looped through the data with a cursor and htp.p'd each line.
My other solution was to have the script generate an image file that I subsequently uploaded into Apex for rendering but that didn't feel like a good multi-user solution.
I will probably end up looking at one of your options too because I now need to parameterize and filter the data.

Having trouble displaying images on a page in APEX through IE.
I'm trying to conditionally display images (used as toggle buttons) in a tabular report in APEX. This is for our Benefits application where an employee can include or exclude his/her dependents from the plan. For each row, in one column I want to show only 'Include' button if an individual is not already a member, and in another column show only 'Remove' button if already included. I'm using the button images as links and passing information to a page process.
I was able to come up with the SQL query which works perfectly fine in Firefox. But the images won't display in Internet Explorer. Does anyone have any idea how to make this work in IE?
Below is my query. This code will display 'Include in plan' image only if the member is not already added to the plan. If 'Y' is the result of the query, then the member is already included and no image is displayed. Otherwise display the image. Pass the member_id to an application item and process the record in a Before Header process.

How to display dynamically generated SVG image
Hello, I need some help on this issue...
I need my page to display programmatically generated SVG image. but if i directly pass SVG string to the page like <h:outputText value="#{MyBean.SVGresult}"/> it will pop up a download dialog box. what should i do to properly include my svg into the page by using embed tag??The h:graphicImage does not appear to handle svg; maybe it should be extended. I'm still looking for the best way to do it. I don't know if I have the right solution but here is what I have done so far. This will throw up a x, y polyline graph.

according to your code, you define a local variable display_url in the layout of your page but without setting any value:

I guess, you have also a page attribute or local variable in your eventHandler named display_url.
So the local definition in the layout overrides the global page attribute an its value.
Use just the page attribute to set the value on initialization and display it in the layout.

Lots of garbage generated when Image is bound to a property that is null
I noticed something odd -- I've written a program that displays some huge images in the background (1920x1200), but not all the items that are in the database actually have an image. Now, when an item is selected where the background image is null, and I simply set this image, I get a nice fade to black (so far so good).
However, I noticed that as long as this "image" is being displayed something is generating about 1 MB of garbage on the heap every second. As soon as I switch to a real image again, this stops... and it starts again when I switch to the null image.
Anybody notice the same? This seems like it might be a bug -- I'm thinking somekind of stacktrace is generated somewhere in the core but being swallowed.
Workaround is to not set 'null' images I suppose :)That does seem very odd. Better follow this to make it know:

How To Display an Image in a Display Image Page Item
i have a pageitem textbox called SearchBox , a Button called Search and a Display Image called Image
i to display and image upon inserting an ID into the searchbox. It work alright if i put a static ID in the BLOB Column returned by SQL statement in Display Image
Note the facialimage of datatype BLOB

The problem/requirement
Images are NOT displayed when published as AIR 2.6, AIR for Android or AIR for iphone
Searched the net, but no success. The images are not visible/loading when the rss application is installed on mobile devices (Android and iPhone)

Are you saying that there should be .hhc, .hhk, .hhp, etc. files for each topic?
Those are project files and you would not see one for each topic. There is one (maybe more, depending on what you are doing) for each project.
One thing you may wish to try is to enable the "Use lowercase file names" option in your SSL recipe.
After you do this, generate and publish again.

Image does not display have editing
I'm wondering if anyone is have this issue. On some of pictures after I make an edit (i.e. crop, spot/patch, etc). the image does not display. If I switch to full screen the updated image displays. When I switch back to the browser and viewer mode the image does not display in the viewer.
This problem certainly makes editing pictures quite difficult.
Any help would be great!!!

The rebuilt library and new previews work fine, however, again if I make an edit to the image and the apply the change the updated image does not display. If I resize the image in the viewer the image appears.

I've created a database table (MySQL) to store file path of images stored in a folder but the only problem is that the images are not displaying on the web page. Here's the procedure that I've used:

Probem when generating dynamic images when 2 servers is running!
I'm running 2 servers, one for the admin and the other for my applications. I
deploy my application (war and ear) on the application server. During the processs,
I generate dynamic images and save it on de hard disk (in the related DefaultWebApp
folder), so I can display it on a web page in the html. The problem is there
is no images displaying. Then! when I restart the application server, the images
will be displaying.
I guest the problem is the application server do not refresh live(probing the
relative path), so the context doesn't found any image.
Anyone have a clue how to fix it?
TanxThe Image class itself does not have any methods for loading images from files so you must be using something more. Most methods for loading images from files have an overload that lets you use a URL, so you just need to use that method with a call to getResource like in the other thread. If you can't think of anything else, you can use ImageIcon to load an Image (the Image is returned by a call to ImageIcon.getImage). See also "how to use icons" from the swing tutorial:

Component image not getting displayed in Portal
Hi All,
I have added a jpg image to MIME folder in my component and used it as source for Image UI and also as a separator in Breadcrumb. When I run this web dynpro application in portal, the image is not getting rendered. I am getting cross mark instead of the image. But the image is getting displayed if I run the application as a stand alone application from SE80 -> Test. Once I do this, the image starts appering even in portal and again disappears after sometime.
Could you please help me to resolve this issue?

Adf images not getting displayed in th browser.
Hi,
I have image tag in my jsff file.
The image is shown on preview.
But when i run the application , the image is not displayed.
Am using Firefox 3.6.6 and IE 7
Tried using the following tags:

Do i have enable anything for this ?Move your images to a folder outside WEB-INF. Anything under the WEB-INF folder cannot be accessed directly by the user. However, you can use a servlet to access images under WEB-INF.

PDF Watermark - logo image is not displayed in ibr converted pdf
Hi
I have enabled pdf watermark administration and configured image watermark with rule, if the content type is document then the image watermark is to be applied but it is not displayed to the converted word document to pdf by IBR.
If i change image watermark layer to "over", then image watermark is displayed, but word are displayed under the logo image watermark, so it is difficult to study the document.
If the native file is pdf, then its image watermark is working fine.

I think this could be caused by the following :
Check the factor set for Transparency and if it is completely opaque (Transparency =0%) then the converted PDF's will not show watermarks which has Layer set to UNDER.
To get the watermarks displayed PPT's will need to be set to Transparency = 100% .
The intention of the UNDER watermarking layer is that it should appear"behind" whatever is in the content layer.If the content layer completely covers the page and is opaque, then nothing behind it will be visible,including watermarks.The only reasonable solution is to check the above mentioned value before submitting the PPT's for conversion so that users are aware of this behavior for PPT's
The above description if for PPT's where in this was found to be caused by the transparency factor of native PPT . If it is a word document then check for the same setting and set to 100% , then test .
