Generating barcode with reports 10g

I need to generate a report (developer 10g) with a barcode. I´m following the instructions on a paper but I need to import a Java Class which I can´t find oracle.apps.barcode.util.BarCodeConstants and oracle.apps.barcode.BarCodeMaker. Do I need to download oraclebarcode.jar? Where can I find it?

Hello,
You'll can find the jar file oraclebarcode.jar in the zip file :

This zip contains sample files for all the examples in the Oracle Reports Building Reports manual.

  • Generating barcode with Report Builder 10g

    Hello,
    I am migrating a number of reports from 6i to 10g which contain barcodes. These get displayed as a series of *** at the client browser.
    So I guess I may need to install the barcode javabean. So I am using the instructions http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13895_01/orbr_barcode.htm. Unfortunately I am stuck on the first step of importing the java class oracle.apps.barcode.util.BarCodeConstants. I have tried adding the path for oraclebarcode.jar to my registry but it doesn't help. Should I be seeing ".apps" below the oracle class?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi DC or user638801 ,
    Did you ever try this on UNIX server. Coz I tried this before 3 weeks. But this did not work.
    If this works in UNIX Server please let me know so that I will try once again.

  • Re: Barcode in Reports 10g

    I know this is an old post,
    Barcode in Reports 10g
    but I am facing the same problem here. Using reports 11.1.2.1, running on a Linux server.
    I have set this on <domain>config/FRComponent/frcommon/guicommon/tk/admin/uifont.ali:
    XYZFONT = "XYZFONT.afm XYZFONT.pfa"
    But generated PDF reports are not embedding the fonts, since I need to have them installed on the computer to see the barcode. I understand the parameter PDFEMBED is set to true by default. But my reports are called from Oracle Forms. How can I be sure the parameter is correct? What else could I check?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    The steps related to PDF Subsetting and PDF embedding are "extra" steps that occur after the step "Report formatting ".
    In order to take into account the line :
    XYZFONT = "XYZFONT.afm XYZFONT.pfa"
    the font used during the step "Report formatting " must be XYZFONT .
    Did you test to generate the Report with DESFORMAT=HTML ?
    Check in the HTML output the font name used for the "Barcode Field".

  • Generating barcode with AI's (Application Identifiers)

    Hello all,
    I am facing an issue with the generation of barcode with AI's. I have a requirement to generate barcode with the data which concatenates 3 different fields and to differentiate those three fields, AI's (Application Identifiers) or DFI's (Data Field Indicators) must be used.
    Ex: (01)12445545(17)020200(10)8823344
    here (01),(17) and (10) are the AI's. Can any one provide a solution to encode this kind of data and generate barcode using EAN-128 font. Did any one worked on this kind of requirement in BI Publisher earlier ?
    Its urgent. Please help.
    Thank you,
    Vasantha

    Hi Tim,
    I have tried with several ways to encode the total string using the java class as mentioned in the xmlpublisher blogs but could not able to generate a correct barcode. I have also gone through the IDAutomation site and found few ways of encoding the data.
    I have used BarcodeUtil.java and used the code128 method to encode the data and applied the code128 font to it.
    Placed these two commands in the RTF.
    <?register-barcode-vendor:'oracle.apps.xdo.template.rtf.util.barcoder.BarcodeUtil';'XMLPBarVendor'?>
    <?format-barcode:BARCODE_DATA;'code128a';'XMLPBarVendor'?>
    In the xml data, for the BARCODE_DATA column, I have concatenated the three fields by trying the following different formats as shown below. (by looking at the ID Automation examples).
    Original data: (01)12445545(17)020200(10)8823344
    Data that I gave for the field:
    1) ~2120112445545~21217020200~212108823344
    2) Ê0112445545Ê17020200Ê108823344
    But the barcode which was generated was not correct in both the ways 1) and 2). I tried to compare this barcode with the barcode that was generated online from the IDAutomation site for the same example data.
    Can anyone suggest any method to handle this kind of data in XMLP. if possible, please provide a sample example.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Vasantha.

  • With Reports 10G can you customize you message and stop formatting?

    Oracle, states to come here for answer. they said, OTN should be able to help.
    If any one knows how this can be done can you please help me out?
    thanks,
    We were told this was fixed with 10G so we upgraded to 10G. We have a
    report and we want it to execute if it's less than 10 records if not we want a
    message to come up that the report needs to be scheduled.
    Well we run the report and it displays exceeded record count but the format
    still runs so no time saved on the web.
    If the record count was exceeded we want to HALT the system and not go any
    farther.
    Now if we could modify the system message 1825 we would be o.k. But we don't
    know if that is going to work. If we could change the message we would be
    o.k. with that. that would mean changing the system codes though.
    ### How is the Report being called (Command line, URL or via Oracle Forms): ###
    If false comes back in the beginning then we don't want any report formatting
    to be done. Right now the format is done it seems but no data is displayed
    because criteria isn't met.
    So we dont wnat the formatting to be run when criteria isn't met. But for
    some
    reason it still runs and takes time.
    See we have some reports on the web that can only be ran by date range right
    now the clients can only run the reports for a 6 months range.. Well some
    clients have a lot smaller record count. So we want to change the way the
    reports are ran to a records count. If the count is large than said amount
    then a message comes up that states the report has to be scheduled. If the
    amount is under said amount then the report runs.
    So at this time in the report we do a count then we move onto will the report
    run or not if over the amount we want to abort the process but we don't want
    the client to see the abort. We definately don't want the client to sit and
    wait for the format to run when NO Data is to be returned.
    ### Error messages and error scenario: ###
    So what we want is too see a message "Schedule the report count exceeded" and
    NO formatting done. If under amount we want the report to run.
    ### Provide a detailed step-by-step description of your problem or question: ###
    Or is there a way to customize the messages the client / users will see. And
    no formatting time for no records returned.

    or hide the message when we abort the report?
    21-SEP-04 15:38:39 GMT
    Hi Darlene!!
    As talked to you on phone, here are the steps for you to try.
    The below has been run as a test case using emp table in scott schema of a database
    1) create a summary coloumn say cs_1 in the data model.
    2) point the function to count.
    3) Point the source to what ever's count you want it to be pointed to(say empno of emp table of
    scott schema)
    4) create a user parameter say NO_ROWS
    5) in its property palette make its data type number and initial value as 1
    6) I had teh following query for my report:
    select empno, ename from emp
    where rownum <= :no_rows
    This means that the report that will be generated will consist of a total no of NO_ROWS(that we
    shall be specifying at run time). The before report trigger(mentioned in 7 below) shall assure
    that whenever we specify NO_ROWS greater than 5 then the report will display a customized pop up
    message.
    7) create a before report trigger as:
    function BeforeReport return boolean is
    user_excp EXCEPTION;
    begin
    if :cs_1 >5 then
    raise user_excp;
    return (false);
    else
    return true;
    end if;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN user_excp then
    SRW.MESSAGE(30, 'Data is more please schedule this report:');
    raise SRW.PROGRAM_ABORT;
    return (false);
    end;
    This way when u run a report, an argument is asked whether how many rows do you want to be
    displayed as in the parameter NO_ROWS. then you specify the number. If that number is greater
    than 5(in this case, due to if :cs_1 > 5 then....) then it will pop up a message saying "Data is
    more please schedule this report:"
    In case you do not want to specify NO_ROWS..then you need not put that and modify the report
    query as "select empno, empname from emp;" i.e. without where clause.

    New info : Information from the person that did this suggestion step by step.
    I tried this step by step, but unfortunately, it doesn't work the way we want.
    First with this suggestion, the user needs to choose how many records they
    want
    to get, or we default a number of records, in order to run the report. The most
    important thing is, whenever you specify the statement return false or raise
    SRW.PROGRAM_ABORT in the before report trigger, the system message will pop up.
    I really hope that people from Oracle would let us know how to customize the
    system message or hide it.

    Your search exceeded 5000 records and will surpass the capabilities of this

    Hi Darlene,
    I am sorry to say that but I don't think there is any any workaround to this because the system message is what is generated by the oracle reports i

    Question 1 - the file will no longer be useable with Reports 10g - you will loose everything.
    Question 2 - No, newer versions of Oracle Forms and Reports are not backward compatible with older versions.
    Question 3 - No, see answer to question 2.

  • Calling Reports 10g from Forms 10g without an app server

    Hi
    I have Forms 10g, and for development/testing purposes I am able to run a form in my local machine using the standalone OC4J. I needn't to deploy the form to test it.
    I can do the same with Reports 10g -- run a report in my local machine without an app server.
    However, I could not manage to call a Report from a Form that way, without an app server. It does not seem possible -- is it? Is there a way to set this up using the standalone OC4J or something like that?

    Hi
    Sorry for the late reply.
    Here's how you start the report server from windows XP machine.
    1. Choose a unique name for the report server. Eg. <your_pc_name>_repserver
    2. As the report server runs in its own process, it can be started by the following command, accessible from the \ bin directory of the
    Oracle Developer Suite or Oracle Application Server 10g installation.
    rwserver –install <server_name> . It is now treated as a windows service and hence you can stop/start or restart from the services menu.
    3. If you want specific settings for your report server, look for the <rep_server_name>.conf file under <orahome>/reports/conf directory, after starting the server from above command. This file is created by oracle automatically, once the rep server gets started.
    For more info on this, please refer to white papers on the Forms and reports integration, found on the otn->Forms.
    Hope this helps

  • Generate barcode on paper layout PDF report - using IDAutomation

    Hello,
    Although i have asked in other threads, i please you to help me regarding this matter:
    - i am generating PDF paper report (invoices to my clients).
    - i need to print the barcodes on the invoices.
    - i have used barcode fonts (i need 128 barcode font) and distributed the PDFs but the clients' machines do not read the barcodes properly when opening the PDF (just numbers, instead of the font).
    - i have then edited the config files, so the barcode fonts to be embedded in the PDF (included in the registry path) but still when distributing the PDFs, the barcode is not displayed on regular machines, that do not have the barcode font installed.
    The question is:
    I am willing to purchase from IDAutomation their 128 barcode fonts. What to purchase?
    - just the barcode fonts, and then i will be able in the end to embed the font in the PDF?
    - or the barcode fonts with their PL/SQL package that will automatically embed the fonts in PDF?
    Thank you so much,
    Michael

    If your machine can open the PDF barcode but your clients' can't, I'd first figure out the PDF stuff. Such as update clients' pdf software etc.
    Think pdf barcode reports can be opened without the font installed. Though Reports Builder or Server needs the font installed to run/generate the report.

  • How to connect Forms 6i & Reports 6i with oracle 10g R2?

    Hey everybody,
    I need your help in connecting both Forms 6i & Reports 6i with Oracle 10g Release 2 db, MS Access(2003, 2007) and SQL database(Microsoft Visual Studio 2008). I am a newbie. I have installed all of them on my HP notebook, with Windows 7 Ultimate(32 bit OS) installed. I want to generate forms & reports by accessing data from above mentioned databases. Please provide me with the configuration steps.
    Thanks in advance...!

    Welcome to the forum ;-)
    Please be sure to review the following:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/10_commandments_for_the_otn_fo
    First, I think it would be a good idea if we can understand why you have chosen to use a nearly new operating system yet install Oracle products that are 10 years old (i.e. Forms/Reports 6i) on it. In general, this is not a good idea. Although running such an old version on Win7 can be made to work, the possibility of having problems is likely. If you are infact new to the product, using a configuration where you are likely to have problems may not be a good starting place. Also, you should be aware that Forms/Reports 6i was desupported several years ago. Documentation and other information is gradually being replaced by newer information, so resources for this old version are going away. The latest version of Forms/Reports is part of Fusion Middleware 11R2 (version 11.1.2.0) and requires WebLogic Server 10.3.5 (or 10.3.6) in order to be installed.
    Second, if you decide to stick with F/R 6i, are you planning to run the applications you create in a browser or as a client/server application? This information is important because how you connect to a database will slightly differ depending on which option you choose. Also, if you want to connect to non-Oracle data sources you can use ODBC for client/server or Oracle Transparent Gateway. However, if you plan to deploy the applications using a browser, Gateway is your only option for connecting to non-Oracle datasources. As for connecting to MS Access, I believe ODBC is your only option, so web deployment may not be an option.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/gateways.102/b14270/ch1.htm
    There are many other references available. Try a Google search.
    As for connecting to an Oracle database, this is generally easy. For the Builder(s) and client/server runtime to connect, add the db information to the tnsnames.ora found in the Oracle Home (installation directory) \network\admin. If you are unfamiliar with what goes in the file you can copy the entries created for your database. The db will have a similar file found in a similar place in its installation directory (Oracle Home). For example, you might find something like this:
    ORCL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = YOURSERVER.COM)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    )Simply copy this information to the end of your tnsnames.ora found where Forms/Reports is installed then restart any running Forms or Builders.
