Having Problem Displaying Urdu in PDF!

I've tried a lot to embed urdu font in pdf file. I'm using Perl's module "PDF::REUSE" for this purpose. No matter what font I try to embed, it gives me the message "Cannot extract the embedded font ----". Event "Arial" is not extracted. If anybody has proper idea about PDF document format please have a look below and let me know where the problem is. I've tried Acrobat reader 7,8,9 but all in vain. The first file im going to paste is without embedding font. It doesn't show urdu. The second fild just show dots. You can copy the text and save it with pdf extension to see the results youself.

-------------------------------------------------------------- Please help me thanks!!!

The basic problem is that you are not embedding the font and it is not available in the PDF. In addition, Acrobat has no substitution to use for the font. You need to embed the font when creating the PDF. Check that you are using something stonger than the smallest file size "Settings" file, and even more than the Standard settings. I typically recommend Press or Print. However, you may have a font that is not licensed for embedding, and then you are stuck.
You might want to check Distiller and be sure that the font is accessible to Acrobat during the creation process. If it is a font in your font folder, you should be OK as long as it is licensed for embedding.

  • Problem displaying characters from pdf file in Preview.app

    Hi,
    I hope someone can help with this problem.
    I have some issues with the display of pdf files on OSX. The problems are with ligatures like 'fl' which Preview.app displays incorrectly as 'oeu'. There are other symbols which Preview also displays incorrectly.
    This problem is not affected by cleaning the font cache and as far as I can tell all the fonts are present and correct. I am guessing the problem has something to do with Preview finding a different version of the Times or TimesRoman font than Adobe Reader uses, and so it gets the wrong symbol, but I'm not sure.
    How can I ensure that Preview uses the same fonts as Adobe Reader? and how can I get Preview to render my pdf's correctly?
    Here is a sample of the problem with Preview.app (4.1):
    !http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3456/33599073294296beb1a8m.jpg!
    and with Adobe Reader (9.0.0)- correctly rendered:

    My computer automatically open PDF inside the Safari
    window, but I wish it would go back to opening it
    externally via Adobe. (maybe we should trade
    computers:-)
    Anyway, we have the same question.
    How do we control whether PDF launches internal to
    Safari, or external in Adobe?
    This is what I would like to as well. I often have a lot of pdf files I need to open and then save to my hard drive. When I click on a pdf file on a website Safari opens it and then I need to right click in the document to open it with Adobe. How can I get it to open in Adobe the first time without having to right click after it opens in Safari?
    Thanks!

  • OBIEE 11g having problems with password protected PDF files.

    I have been able to get an analysis in OBIEE 11g to display PDF files.
    However, some of these documents contain sensitive information and must be secured. Since anyone with access to the file name
    could simply type in the proper path in the browser window, this is unacceptable. In order to try and prevent this, I created a pdf file
    that is protected with a password.
    Opening the file by itself, produces the desired results. The password is requested before the file will open.
    When I open the file through my analysis in OBIEE, Adobe reader activates, but the password is not requested and the file does not open.
    It is as if OBIEE is somehow not sensing that Adobee is asking for a password.
    Does anyone have any experience with this?

    FYI, in case anyone is interested, I found out what is going on.
    I created the original password protected PDF using Microsoft Word. I did this because I do not have a full version of Adobe Acrobat that allows me to create files.
    On a hunch, I found someone that has a full version of Acrobat, and had them create a password protected PDF file. This file worked perfectly.
    Apparently, Word is not strictly adhering to PDF guidelines, and OBIEE senses the differences, resulting in the file not opening properly.
    Something to keep in mind for anyone linking to password protected PDF files in OBIEE.

  • Having problem displaying remote shared objects on flash

    hi
    I am using red5 flash server and at that side creating a shared object called chatSharedObject
    For the client side,I am using openlaszlo platform, but using actionscript 3  classes for the shared object implementation. cilent application is connecting to the shared object on the red5 side successfully(as I see on the red5 logs).
    here is the calling code snippet:
    [CODE]
    <button id="sendButton">send
          <handler name="onclick" method="sendClicked" />
          <method name="sendClicked" args="v=0">
            if (message.text != "") {
        //Debug.write("Message sent!");
        classroot.writeSharedObject(message.text);
        message.clearText();
        message.setAttribute("text_y", 0);
        </method>
    </button>
    <method name="writeSharedObject" args="message">
    [B]//shared object send method is being called[/B]
        this.send("writeMessage",loginScreen.getUsername(),message);
    </method>
    <!--this method writes the messages to the debug window which will be shown to all users-->
    <method name="writeMessage" args="username, msg">
        //Debug.debug(msg);
        messageArea.addText(username+ " : "+msg+"\n");
    </method>[/CODE]
    When I generate the flash object and try to use this application, nothing is being displayed although there is no problem on this issue on the development enviroment. Problem causes when I try to run the swf10 flash object.
    Is this maybe a flash security issue? Although I have added the corresponding locations as the trusted location on the flash settings manager. Still problem goes on. And I think this is not about the flash player, it might be a special problem about the flash object.
    Couldn't find the solution for a week,
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Cem

    i can even gointo firefox and chrome and save the shared object. then open my i.e and see that object in the results page. but if i save the shared object in i.e it throws that error on the results page. So i'm pretty sure it must be the flushing of the object. Pasting my save code below:
    function makeResult(evt:MouseEvent):void{
          var flushstatus:String = new String();
          gSo.data.o = o;
          gSo.data.c = c;
          gSo.data.t = t;
          gSo.data.c = v;
          gSo.data.u=uid;
          flushstatus = gSo.flush();
          if (flushstatus != null) {
            switch (flushstatus) {
              case SharedObjectFlushStatus.PENDING: //this is incase the user doesnt have enough space
                gSo.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onFlushStatus);
                break;
              case SharedObjectFlushStatus.FLUSHED:
                redirect();
                break;
    function onFlushStatus(event:NetStatusEvent):void {
      switch (event.info.code) {
        case "SharedObject.Flush.Success":
          gSo.removeEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onFlushStatus);
          redirect();
          break;
        case "SharedObject.Flush.Failed":
          trace ("Shared object storage failed");
          break;
    function redirect() {
      try{
        var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest('../node/2');// i supply a base parameter to the swf so the redirect works
        navigateToURL(request,"_self");

  • Fireworks having problem displaying fonts?

    I'm using Fireworks MX 2004 and have found that several fonts are displaying incorrectly in that only the botom half of each letter is displaying.
    I've looked at the font file and thats fine, tried it in other applications such as flash, word, powerpoint where it's absolutely fine, so am guessing its a fireworks problem. Tried reinstalling the font, but cant seem to work out whats causing the problem. They are all .ttf files.
    Any suggestions? been scratching my head over this one for days.
    Thanks

    Another workaround I've done in that situation is to add a small character (such as a period) above, below, or to the side of the character I want, separated by a considerable amount of whitespace. I'll try to get the periods off my canvas or to an area where I can cover them with a solid color rectangle. It's a silly solution, but I can usually get it to work.
    Or! If you don't have areas of solid color, you could still add the periods and white space, then apply a vector mask to the object so that only the desired character shows. (Wish I'd thought of this idea before today. Would have saved me a bunch of stupid rectangles! )

  • Having problems when exporting to pdf. PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Hi everyone!
    I used the business resume template to make my own. When I export it as a Pdf, however, it looks really really bad. Ive got a slight idea of why this happens: Acrobat converts the helvetica.dfont (only for mac) into TTF files so it can embed the fonts. This causes the font to skew and lose its real kerning and everything becomes a mess. I also tried to go to print, then hit preview, then save it as PNGs and then create a pdf based on images but i still get a way lower quality than the one on pages. I even tried to open the helvetica.dfont file on fontlab and then generate an opentype (Otf) font to see if I could get a better result but it seems to happen the same.
    I forgot to say I need to email it, that's why Im trying to get a way to get people Im sending it to to see it the exact same way even if they dont have the font installed on their computers - which is the most possible scenario.
    I hope you can help me!
    Thank you very much!

    Henrik, so what you say is that with pdf 1.6 the problem might be solved???
    It's not simply the PDF version, its as well how the PDF is made. On prepress lists this has been discussed for a decade and a half.
    The intelligent font model of the Unicode Consortium and the intelligent profile model of the International Color Consortium are expressed as tagged file formats, but the PostScript interpreter ignores tagged file formats. Adobe Acrobat Distiller is an Adobe PostScript interpreter.
    In order to present the tagged file format of the intelligent font model to the PostScript interpreter, the tags that contain the semantics for the imageable shapes are stripped and the tag that contains the imageable shapes is subset. The intact tags of the intelligent font file are not embedded.
    In order to present the tagged file format of the intelligent profile model to the PostScript interpreter, the tags are also subset and tag that corresponds to the relative colourmetric transform with black point compensation, which is the transform in PostScript colour management, is embedded.
    If PostScript is not intermediate format, the tagged file format of the intelligent profile model may be embedded in PDF 1.3 and higher, but the tagged file format of the intelligent font model may only be embedded in PDF 1.6 and higher, and only with Microsoft line layout logic, not with Apple line layout logic.
    What Acrobat reports as embedded fonts is not easy to relate to what the original font was. If the original font data was TrueType housed in the tagged file format of the intelligent font model, and if PostScript was intermediate, the font data itself may have been transformed to PostScript Type 1 before embedding, or the font data may stay TrueType but packaged as a PostScript Type 1 font program dictionary per the Type 42 Specification.
    If you want to know what Type 42 refers to, then it is a reference to a passage in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Which is probably the lay of the logic, too .

  • Having problem displaying Japanese Locale

    Hi All,
    Understand that when we install Solaris 8, we have the option of selecting japanses language without the multilanguage pack. Now, how can I do that without reinstalling my installed English Solaris 8 in sparc m/c?
    I've installed the necessary packages but when I select the language from the login screen, it shows rubbish. Why is that so? Please help
    Thanks

    Looks like 1.4 renamed i18n.jar to charsets.jar, you're using the international version alright.
    Is the input text file definitely in UTF8 format, or a native Japanese codepage/encoding scheme ?
    Ms Word 2000 is actually good at detecting file types / encoding schemes. Try opening up your input file and see if it displays properly in Ms Word. I know... the irony of using a Microsoft product to debug Java!
    If thats okay, then maybe check out Character.UnicodeBlock class
    on the strings you've read in. You can see what Unicode character block each character is from... might at least show that you're reading them in right. Although there's no "Japanese" character block, not sure what you'll get...
    After that, I'd assume it's a font/display issue.
    regards,
    Owen

  • Having problem installing adobe pdf

    I am having trouble downloading
    adobe pdf on my window 2000

    Is this a question about the PDF file format and specifications? If not, you may wish to post this in a more relevant forum!
    Secondly, what do you mean by “I am having trouble downloading adobe pdf on my window 2000?”
    Are you having problems downloading a particular PDF file to a Windows 2000-based computer? If so, you need to provide more particulars as to where and how you are attempting to download that PDF file.
    Or are you having trouble downloading and installing Adobe Reader, the software required to open a PDF file, on a Windows 2000-based system?
    If the latter, repost on the Adobe Reader forum at http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_reader_forums/adobe_reader.

    Need advice on a saving file issue. I'm having problem with saving a .pdf file to computer. Continually get an error message " This document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (21). This is new as this error message just recently started to pop-up.

    A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... then download the base install for Adobe Reader 11.0.
    Then download each of the individual updates and run them sequentially.
    I've installed back up to the last security update which is version 08 and have been able to do normal Save As operations.
    You will have to disable automatic updates in order to stay at version 08 until Adobe resolves this issue in a later release.

    PHP needs to be configured with a web server, such as Apache
    or IIS.
    ColdFusion is also a webserver, but as far as I know, it
    cannot be
    configured to serve PHP pages.
    > date is:
    <?php echo Hello ?>
    The only thing that would display is an error message. Hello
    needs to be
    enclosed in quotes:
    <?php echo 'Hello'; ?>

  • Problems displaying a pdf correctly (both with preview and adobe reader)

    Hey guys,
    I've been having problems with displaying lecture notes (pdf files) correctly. It doesn't matter if I use preview or adobe reader.
    Can anyone please help me out?
    thanks a lot in advance,
    Simon

    Hi there,
    I have a very similar problem: a number of pdf files that I can see perfectly well in Safari/GoogleChrome do NOT show correctly in Preview or ANY iPad app I have (Notability, Adobe, PDF Expertm iAnnotate, Dropbox etc.).
    The problem is that punctuation -- with the expection of periods or bolded text -- does not show properly. For example, commas and quotation marks to not show, and some numbers to not show.
    Moreover, once I have annotated/viewed the problematic file on the IPad and resync to dropbox to view on Mac vis Adobe (which I do with most pdf files with no problems), I get an error message upon reopening the pdf file saying "Cannot extract the embedded font 'FAFWQV+--unknown-2--'. Some characters may not display or print correctly." (the 'quoted' text changes each time). When opening in Preview, no error message appears, though the fole is still lacking punctuation etc.
    Here is a link to one problematic pdf: http://niis.cass.cn/upload/2012/12/d20121201200145301.pdf
    NB: the file is in Mandarin, however I can successfully open/edit/annotate/sync other pdfs using Mandarin font so I'm not sure if the language is related to the problem.
    I would be extremely grateful for some help with this please!
    Thanks!

  • Having problems reading pdf in safari (encoding)?

    I'm having problems with reading pdf files on safari.  What is the fix?

    And carefully read what Adobe advise customers to do:
    "Adobe recommends customers stay with Mac OS 10.6 and Safari 5.0.x in order for in-browser use cases to continue to function."
    Apple Safari 5.1 and Adobe Reader/Acrobat Advisory
    As of today Safari can not display the pdf files from the on-line libraries around the globe but the user can download the pdf file, and then it shows up.
    I guess this is yet another reason to stay with the 10.6.8 Mac OS.

    Hi Bob, I just tried your suggestion, but the interactive PDF is in spreads by default, no way to change the setting. When I choose to view by single page in Acrobat, it displays a single spread.
    When I choose to view by spreads, it displays 4 pages, two spreads. That's the topic of this whole discussion, I believe. I do own CS 6 at home, however my employer supplied me with CS 5.5. And I have very little, if any, influence on purchasing.
    So, I have no good way to make an interactive PDF (with differing recto/verso headers and footers), that is accessible and shows the correct header/footer. It's either single pages (with one header/footer), or recto/verso headers/footers but PDF only as a spread, as well as I can tell.
    Unless you know something else I can do...
    Best, Marilyn
