Generating random image application

Please someone help me design a program that could generate image randomly.
I have a BIKE and CAR. There are 3 picture in a the BIKE and and 3 in the CAR.
This program probably uses SWING GUI type of programming.
If I run the program, there would be a button of a BIKE and a button for a CAR. If I click the BIKE button, another frame(GUI) will appear.
If I click the CAR button, another frame(GUI) will appear as well.
The Bike and Car frame must be able to show image randomly everytime i click the Bike or Car button.
How do i create this. Pls help.
I would like to know this ASAP. PRONTO. Possibly NOW!

using Math.random()*3, you can assign that to an integer and then perform if-else statements to get 3 different images... You can do so with the car too.. Hope you understand and hope this helps.

    Is there a free Java API for generating those images of random letters used to ensure that a human has submitted a web form?
    I know it's not too hard to write from scratch, but I'd like to save myself the work :)

    it's called a "captcha", their site (captcha.org or something) will have links to implementations.

  • Using a random image generator in a frameset [was: "I'm a photographer, not a web designer!"]

    I've been designing my own website for some years now using dreamweaver.  I love the ease of use and simplicity it offers, however I know nothing of designing web pages.  I know what I want but I just don't exactly always know how to get there.  I am currently trying to have a random image generator on my landing page, which is a frameset.  I've tried several codes that I've found online and have had no success, at all mind you, with any of them.  I'm sure that I am doing something very simple wrong with my design but just can't figure it out.  Unfortunately I am a photographer which makes me a visual person, so yes, if you can help me you'll have to draw a picture for me, or at least hold my hand and walk me through the steps.  Sorry, I know I'm high maintenance.
    My site is all frameset based.  I have a 'mainFrame' that all other links in the other frames load to.  So I am assuming that my code for the image generator should go in the body of the mainFrame.  I have even copied and pasted all the code from some of the help I've found, downloaded a cfm to try, all to no avail.  Con someone spell it out for me, or better yet, draw me a picture.

    My site is all frameset based.
    That's a tragedy.  Frames, once popular in the 90's are almost never used anymore.  In fact, the W3C saw fit to drop frameset support from HTML 5.
    Why Frames are Evil:  http://apptools.com/rants/framesevil.php
    Instead of Frames or Framesets, consider using Templates (DWTs) or Server-Side Includes (SSIs)

  • Hello from a new member and help with random images on refresh

    Hi All,
    I've just joined the forum. In fact I've really only just started to use Dreamweaver. I've covered a lot of ground in the last few weeks and
    have manage to set up a basic site using CSS for layout but now I've hit my first problem.
    On the index page of the site - http://www.hcadesign.co.uk/ there is a large main image which I would like to change each time someone
    visits the site or hits refresh. I've hunted around and found lots of scripts, all using java, that seem to do just this but I'm not having any
    luck getting them to work.

    Hi and Welcome to the DW Forums.
    For the sake of clarity, Java is not the same thing as JavaScript. 2 entirely different programming languages.
    Copy and paste the following code into a new, blank HTML page.
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

    index = Math.floor(Math.random() * images.length);
    document.write(images[index]);
    //done

  • Running gif animation and a random image output from an html button, HELP!!

    Trying to click (onClick) an animated gif image of an on/off switch to start a second animation which is located on a different location on the web-page (a 7-frame animation of a generator with moving parts) immediately followed by a random image selection function placing an image in a 3rd location on the page (next to the generator image). The random images are supposed to look like the result of the generator animation---the item that “pops out” of the generator.
    We thought the process to achieve this would be an “OnClick” on the on/off switch-animated-gif to start two javascript functions (generato animation function & random image function).
    To further complicate matters, we are doing this website in iWeb. We’re using iWeb SEO Tool to add the javascript to the header and HTML snippet in iWeb to place the HTML code. Not sure we’re actually doing the snippet right though---is it supposed to relate to the images---or is it separate? When the gifs are place on the iweb page, they work in the browser upon page load---the “on-click” & the random image function are NOT working...so we know we’ve done something(s) wrong.
    We’re thinking that we’re probably missing some code that describes where the 3 different image-spots are on the page (image #1 is the on/off switch gif, image#2 is the generator gif, image#3 is the generator output.png)....or just aren’t coding the string of functions correctly---or maybe our strategy for achieving this is just no correct (?).
    Here is the code we have tried that didn’t work. We desperately need a solution quickly and are open to any/other ideas for how to accomplish this. THANKS YOU in advance for your help!!!:

  • How do you generate random data info using json and spry?

    I have a mobile applicaton that uses spry datasets that dynamically populate a jquery mobile listview by using a json file. Everything is operating as it should.
    However, I would like to understand how to pull random objects from the json file to have them displayed on a different page.
    My json file is standard and not complicated. It has several levels. Each is represented as below:
                                  { "Level1":
                                                                {"imageurl":"images/_myimage.png",
                                                                "someData":"S,A,P,R",
                                                                "levelLongDesc":"further description",
                                                                "name": "John Doe",
                                                                "page": "referencepage",
                                                                "description":"The description of the image"
    {"imageurl":"images/_myimage.png",
      "someData":"S,A,P,R",
      "levelLongDesc":"further description",
      "name": "John Doe",
      "page": "referencepage",
      "description":"The description of the image"
    Json file Level1 has about 70 objects
    What I would like to do is randomly load one of the Level1 object arrays into the page when the user selects a Level 1 radio button that is on the screen. I know how to create the page, radio buttons and basics, but just don't know how to pull in the random data.
    I've found one code sample on this site that speaks to spry and xml, but I haven't been able to apply it in any way that works for me with the json file:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/662551
    I've also googled. There isn't much on spry datasets with json and generating random info. There was a little bit on sorting, but that didn't help either.
    Does anyone have a good example/tutorial of how to use the random function with spry/json?
    TIA
    -Rachel

    I've done similar things before.  A few thoughts for you:
    1. I'm assuming you're doing a buffered period or frequency measurement on the incoming encoder pulses, right?  First key point is that you'll have data that is spaced equally in position, but not equally in time.  If you are looking for a time-based FFT such that increasing speed will shift your spectrum, you're going to need to go through an interpolation process to resample your data as though equally-spaced in in time.
    2. Your 149 pulse per rev encoder may be a significant source of error unless its 149 pulses are placed with extreme accuracy.  Any error in pulse placement violates your underlying assumption of data that is equally-spaced in position.  It'll be very helpful to send your data through a software lowpass filter to attenuate those artifacts.
    3. I am not sure what you mean by "decompose the buffered data (array) into a single datastream."  You'll get an array of periods / frequencies from the call to DAQmx Read.  If you want to use it in a LabVIEW waveform datatype, you'll first need to do the resampling to create equally-spaced-in-time data.  The LabVIEW waveform datatype (and all the analysis functions like FFT that use it) depend on receiving data with a fixed constant time interval between samples.

  • Randomizing image/text on refresh

    Hello. I'm new...quite new to DW and web work, but have a small, general understanding of it. I'm an animator and am in the midst of creating my own portfolio site. I don't understand code, at least uber-extreme code. I'm attempting to have specific quotes on my homepage from clients and would like to have them change, or have a new text/quote appear on refresh or upon a new visit to the site (just so it's not the same one everytime).
      Would I need to just render out a .swf file in AE or is there a means of doing this within DW w/o using crazy code? Thanks in advance, Andy

    HTML has no way to do something like this.  You would indeed have to use Flash, or JavaScript, or some server-scripting to accomplish that task.
    It's quote easy to do with something like PHP, for example, by declaring a random variable in the page, e.g.,
    <?php
    $imageVar = rand(1,5) /* this will generate a random number between 1 and 5 */
    ?>
    and then using that random variable in the image's source attribute -
    <img src="images/random/image<?php echo $imageVar; ?>.jpg" />
    If you are getting the idea that you will have to come to grips with code sooner rather than later, then you are on the right track.  DW is very punishing to those who won't take the time to learn the underlying technologies....
    If you Google "random image" and "Dreamweaver" you may also be able to find extensions that do the same thing for you (in JavaScript).  I would recommend that you visit http://www.projectseven.com and search there - I do know that they have such a thing, and can wholeheartedly endorse their products as being the best of show....

  • PHP random image

    Hello everyone,
    Im trying to use (for the first time) random images generated
    by PHP. I
    installed a Technorama extension and then followed thru the
    steps to place a
    random image in the page, but there is nothing there when I
    browse the page.
    Please forgive my ignorance, but I have never done any php
    stuff before.
    And yes, the files are uploaded to my server. (which does
    have php enabled).
    The practice page I am using is
    www.fionahayward.com/interiordesign/practice.php
    I have the effect working with javascript on this page
    www.fionahayward.com/interiordesign but am trying to use php
    incase people
    have javascript turned off.
    Maybe its something to do with how Ive set up Server
    Behaviours or something
    (only guessing)
    Thanks for listening
    Fiona

    1) create a php file named rotate.php in the folder where the
    images are.
    2) paste this code (between the [code ] and [/code]
    markers... into that file and save it.
    [code]
    <?php
    $folder = '.';
    $extList = array();
    $extList['gif'] = 'image/gif';
    $extList['jpg'] = 'image/jpeg';
    $extList['jpeg'] = 'image/jpeg';
    $extList['png'] = 'image/png';
    // --------------------- END CONFIGURATION
    $img = null;
    if (substr($folder,-1) != '/') {
    $folder = $folder.'/';
    if (isset($_GET['img'])) {
    $imageInfo = pathinfo($_GET['img']);
    if (
    isset( $extList[ strtolower( $imageInfo['extension'] ) ] )
    file_exists( $folder.$imageInfo['basename'] )
    $img = $folder.$imageInfo['basename'];
    } else {
    $fileList = array();
    $handle = opendir($folder);
    while ( false !== ( $file = readdir($handle) ) ) {
    $file_info = pathinfo($file);
    if (
    isset( $extList[ strtolower( $file_info['extension'] ) ] )
    $fileList[] = $file;
    closedir($handle);
    if (count($fileList) > 0) {
    $imageNumber = time() % count($fileList);
    $img = $folder.$fileList[$imageNumber];
    if ($img!=null) {
    $imageInfo = pathinfo($img);
    $contentType = 'Content-type: '.$extList[
    $imageInfo['extension'] ];
    header ($contentType);
    readfile($img);
    } else {
    if ( function_exists('imagecreate') ) {
    header ("Content-type: image/png");
    $im = @imagecreate (100, 100)
    or die ("Cannot initialize new GD image stream");
    $background_color = imagecolorallocate ($im, 255, 255, 255);
    $text_color = imagecolorallocate ($im, 0,0,0);
    imagestring ($im, 2, 5, 5, "IMAGE ERROR", $text_color);
    imagepng ($im);
    imagedestroy($im);
    ?>
    [/code]
    4) in whichever file you want the random images to appear,
    reference the image so:
    src="path/to/that/image/folder/rotate.php"
    I tend to use root-relative pathing, but that part is up to
    you.
    NOTE: I've found that random image references are quirky in
    IE browsers - they seem to want the image width and height to
    display images that are dynamically selected... I've used this
    script to display images that are all the same size and groups that
    aren't. When the image size is unknown, I use width:100%
    height:100% in my css)
    email me if you have any issues with using the script. I use
    it a lot with WordPress sites, but it isn't a WP only solution.

  • PHP Random Image extension

    I am trying to use the PHP random image generator but I don't
    know where to specify the size I want all the pictures to come up
    in the code. I created a "php" test page and inserted said code
    where I want the images to display but they are too large and throw
    the entire page off. Is there a way to tell it that all pictures
    should be called up at 240(width) x 350(height)? Any help would be
    greatly appreciated. The reason I am doing this is because there
    are about 200 images (of students) in this folder and coding each
    picture seperately is too time consuming.
    Regards,
    RM (using DW MX2004)

    Disregard....I figured it out. As it turns out the best
    solution would be to have your original pictures saved with the
    desired dimensions. I was able to point the PHP to a directory that
    contained pictures with said dimensions and it worked like a charm.
    regards.

  • Random images in flash

    does anyone know how to make a random image viewer in flash from scratch
    as in click a button then it will take you to a picture then click it again and it will take you to a different one
    so the images dont come up twice, or does anyone know any tutorials with the same sorta thing

    This might help - I had to go through this quite carefully before I understood it - the ab
    stract variable names make it much more difficult to understand. here is my version with more obvious var names:
    //creates original array with numbers you want to randomise
    var orgArr:Array = [1,2,3,4,5];
    trace("original numbers = "+orgArr);
    //The function that shuffles the numbers. the argument passed (in parenthesis) is the array of ascending numbers (orgArr) it is named 'inArr' for use by the function, but it is exactly the same array
    function shuffle(inArr:Array) {
    //creates numeric variable that is the length of the original array
        var arrLen:Number = inArr.length-1;
    //a loop that runs through each element in the array starting at the highest position down to zero
        for (var i:Number = arrLen; i>=0; i--) {
            //generates random integer based on length of array
            var rndNum:Number = Math.floor(Math.random()*(i+1));
            //gets data from array corresponding to loop number (i)
            var arrData = inArr[i];
            //swaps array slot i with data from random position in the same array
            inArr[i] = inArr[rndNum];
            //swaps random array slot with data from array slot i
            inArr[rndNum] = arrData;
    shuffle(orgArr);
    trace("shuffled numbers = "+orgArr);
    The function cycles through the original array and swaps each array element with another element randomly chosen from the same array. If you run this code the output window will show the original numbers and then the array after it has been shuffled. The numbers could be frame numbers of your pics or filenames for externally loaded content.
    Thanks for that code Kglad - a neat solution and much simpler that the code I wrote to do the same thing.

  • Generate random number and letter in a text field ...

    Hi All,
    I having a bit trouble when trying to generate random number and letter in application express in a text field. Say I have a licence form and when user wants to create a licence, it will provide a random licence number in the licence number field but it has to be unique. the number should be something like HQ2345. I was trying to set the following sql in default value for that text field but it is not working -
    select DBMS_RANDOM.STRING('',2) || trunc(DBMS_RANDOM.VALUE(1000,9999))
    from dual;
    any suggesion !!!!
    thanks

    Put this as default value for your text-item
    DBMS_RANDOM.STRING('',2) || trunc(DBMS_RANDOM.VALUE(1000,9999))
    with type PL/SQL Expression. It have tested it and it works fine.

  • Place random image in Messages with Applescript - TextExpander

    I've been using Apple computers since '84 but I've never used Appplescript and was hoping for some help.
    I'd like to be able to place a random image in Messages with an Applescript through TextExpander. When I type my snippet into Messages  the Finder will open a random image from a folder using something like this:
    tell application "Finder"
    set randomImage to some file of folder "Mac HD:Users:me:photos:chat pics"
    get randomImage
    open randomImage
    end tell
    If I replace "Finder" with "Messages" it doesn't work. Do I need to combine 2 Applescripts to make this happen?
    TIA

    I tried using the following code, but itdint work.
    <%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
    <%
    // File (or directory) to be moved
    File file = new File("banner2.bmp");
    // Destination directory
    File dir = new File("banner");
    // Move file to new directory
    boolean success = file.renameTo(new File(dir, file.getName()));
    if (!success) {
    System.out.println("File was not successfully moved");
      // File was not successfully moved
    else{
    System.out.println("File was successfully moved");

  • Generating an image to be displayed by Apex

    Hi,
    Does anyone have some experience or ideas as to how to generate an image based on data within an Apex application and then render it back within the Apex application?
    Assuming that the program has access to the database:
    1. what is the best way to execute the program
    2. where does the program place the image so that the client-browser can pick it up? I cannot seem to locate the document root for Apex.
    Thanks all!

    Nothing so complicated! I used an external table to trigger a script that generated svg data from the database data. Then in an HTML Apex region, I looped through the data with a cursor and htp.p'd each line.
    My other solution was to have the script generate an image file that I subsequently uploaded into Apex for rendering but that didn't feel like a good multi-user solution.
    I will probably end up looking at one of your options too because I now need to parameterize and filter the data.

  • Series of random image?

    hi everyone. i got a table with 4 images, when the browser refreshes all 4 images should change randomly. the first image works fine, just as i want it to, but the other 3 images just show the 'ghost' holding image. find my page here; http://www.chewingconcrete.com/randomimages/blank.html
    any help would be great.

    Hi
    You will have to use the maths function to generate a new array of your images every time.
    To give you an idea of what is required, check the code at this page - http://javascript.internet.com/miscellaneous/random-image-rotator.html
    you can modify the code as required.
