Generating xml tags with stored procedure

Hi Friends,
I have to create a xml report using procedure .the code is given here to generate xml tags.
create or replace procedure sri_xml (errbuff out varchar2,
retcode out number) as
/* create cursor to fetch the records*/
cursor c_emp is select empno,
ename,
deptno,
sal,
job
from emp;
begin
/* first line of xml data should be "<? xml version = "0.1"?>" */
fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output,'<?xml version = "1.0" ?>');
fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output,'<per_emp1>');
for c in c_emp loop
/* for each record create a group tag <gemp_name> at start */
fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output,'<G_EMP_NAME>');
/*EMBEDD DATA BETWEEN XML TAGS */
fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output,'<empno>' || c.empno || '</empno>');
fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output,'<ename>' || c.ename || '</ename>');
fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output,'<sal>' || c.sal || '</sal>');
fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output,'</G_EMP_NAME>');
end loop;
fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output,'</per_emp1>');
end;
i run the procedure in the concurrent program with output mode as text and i got the xml tags as the out put. i have created the template using the data definition and registered them in the xml publisher administer but i am unable to get the out put when i run the concurrent request it is giving the message "AUTHENTICATION FAILED".
please help me to solve the problem and to get the desired output with desired template.
thanks in advance,
siddam

Hi Siddam,
Please post your query on BI Publisher forum.
There are number of folks who can resolve the issue u faced.
Please go through the bi publisher developers guide and then design the report.
I am not sure about the process ur following for report development...i think you have to create data defination and rtf layout and then attach it to oracle xml administrator responsibility.

  • PL/SQL to generate XML compliant with an XSD

    Please excuse me if this has been asked elsewhere. I'm trying on Oracle 9.2 to output XML that will comply with a predefined schema. I've started out by creating various object types and an object view that matches the xml schema definition, and can use dbms_xmlgen.getxml to get out an xml document (a clob) without trouble, BUT I need to post-process this with shell scripts to add on the namespace information and amend the tags to put in the (e.g.) ns3: bit to identify which is the target namespace. It seems odd that I should need to do this - is there a better way? I have trawled all over rthe place but cannot find any mention of this requirement. Thanks for any help you might give me, I'm new to xml.

    Okay forget that, here's a quote from Oracle:
    "I'm the PM for XML DB, and our preferred direction for generating XML from data stored in relational tables is the industry standard SQL/XML operators. DBMS_XMLGEN will continue to be supported but most of our development efforts in terms of performance / feature improvements willl be targetted at the SQL/XML operators (XMLELEMENT(), XMLATTRIBUTES(), XMLAGG(), XMLFOREST() etc). In general they have proven to be much more flexible and performant, and easier to use "
    So it seems that the object-type/view route is dead in the water. Shame.

  • How to generate a report from stored procedure

    I would like to generate a report from stored procedure.
    I used to work on sql server. this can be done as easy as put a select statement at the end of stored procedure.
    The resule can be displayed on the development IDE, like sql developer or consume by Java JDBC client.
    is there equivalent way to do this in Oracle stored procedure?

    Hi,
    What type of report you are looking..for.. ??
    As you said that "I used to work on sql server. this can be done as easy as put a select statement at the end of stored procedure. "
    When you execute it will return the result set and you will display directly on the FrontEnd.. Is my Understanding is correct Up to here.
    See, In oracle you have call some custom stored procedures as you did in SQL Sever, but you have return the Results Sets, with help of Out put paramter, Either Cursors or Varrays..
    or Else you can generate the Html reports based on your requirement, HTML can be used in the stored procedures of Oracle which will generate for your, you need to code it.
    I could not able get the relevant link for your reference.
    I will get back to you on this.

  • Hi to all... What is a  XML data provider,stored Procedure, personal data

    Hi to all... What is a  XML data provider,stored Procedure, personal data providers in deski.  when we use these data provider in desk top intelligence.. and use of it.
    Please give detail description of the above...
    Thanks for reply..........

    Hi,
    We can create Desktop Intelligence reports using XML Data Provider, Personal Data Files and Stored Procedure.
    Following is some detailed information about these three.
    Xml data provider:
    Xml data provider is used for the integration of external data sources stored in XML format.
    This is similar to HTML.
    Stored Procedure:
    A stored procedure is a set of SQL commands that has been compiled and stored on the database server.
    Once the stored procedure has been "stored", client applications can execute the stored procedure over and over again without sending it to the database server again and without compiling it again.
    Stored procedures improve performance by reducing network traffic and CPU load.
    Personal data files:
    u2022     *.prn files
         A PRN file is a special type of file which contains instructions for a printer, it tells the printer what to print on the page and where as well as which paper tray to use, what the paper size is and a number of other controls.
    u2022     *.asc files
          Between the values of a row any number of carriage returns  or blanks are allowed. In any case it is strongly recommended that the data table be stored in such a way that it can be read and edited easily.
           The values may be stored in any format (integer, floating point, exponential notation) and they must be separated at least by one blank. The class information must be of integer type, the row identifiers are interpreted as strings. The lines can have any length and must not contain any comment.
    u2022     *.csv files
    A CSV file is a specially formatted plain text file which stores spreadsheet or basic database-style information in a very simple format, with one record on each line, and each field within that record separated by a comma.

  • Problem With Stored Procedure

    Post Author: Ranjith.403
    CA Forum: General
    Hi,
    Am new to crystal reports with stored procedures
    am created a report using a stored procedure in oracle. In that Stored Procedure am Using a temporary table.
    After inserting values into the table am assigning to ref cursor.
    Refcursor having fields like item,onhandstock,purchase rate
    This report working fine in oracle version 9.2.0.1.0 where comes to oracle version 9.2.0.8.0 it's giving the varchar values correctly.
    The Number values are showing as 0.
    Help me to solve it.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ranjith

    Try modularising this large procedure into smaller procedures and functions, and determine which part is causing you trouble.

  • Remove XML Tags with White space.

    Hi All, I have a scenario like the below code where I have empty spaces in few columns of my tables. I create XML of the data and send it. There is a lot of code such and I can't add ISNULL() on each and every column. Is there any simple one line code working
    with the XML so that I can remove the tags with only empty spaces. TIA.
    DECLARE @xml1 VARCHAR(max)
    DECLARE @xml2 VARCHAR(max)
    set @xml1 = (SELECT 1 AS Col11, ' ' AS Col21, 'ABC' AS Col31 FOR XML RAW, ELEMENTS)
    set @xml2 = (SELECT 2 AS Col12, ' ' AS Col22, 'ABC' AS Col32 FOR XML RAW, ELEMENTS)
    DECLARE @xml xml;
    SET @xml = Cast('<ROOT>' + ISNULL(@xml1, '') + ISNULL(@xml2, '') + '</ROOT>' as xml)
    SET @xml.modify('delete //*[not(node())]');
    -- Some Way to Remove the XML Tags with Empty space here.
    select @xml as XMLString
    /* Output of the Above script.
    <ROOT>
    <row>
    <Col11>1</Col11>
    <Col21> </Col21> -- This XML Tag with a white space should be removed
    <Col31>ABC</Col31>

    <Col22> </Col22> -- This XML Tag with a white space should be removed
    <Col32>ABC</Col32>

    It would have helped if there had been a trim() function in XQuery.
    With some trial and error and inventive thinking I came up with this:
    <span style="color:Blue">SET</span> @xml.modify(<span style="color:#A31515">'delete //*[. <= " "]'</span>);
    As they say: it seems to work. But I leave no warranties.

    Wow Erland  this
    seems to work, I need to test it against my data and update on this. Thanks again.

  • Generating XML Tags in PLSQL using XMLELEMENT

    Hi All,
    I am trying to generate XML Tags using XMLELEMENT. Does anyone has an example for this. I have special characters in my DATA so the normal Concatenation does not work.........

    var must be defined as xmltype

  • IE problem with img tag calling stored procedure

    I have an img tag in my JSP which looks like this (it has a very long src value):
    <img src="http://www.enetrix.com/cores/net_charts.display_temp_chart?vChartDef_in=ChartType%20=%20DIALCHART;Chart
    . . . and so on and so on . . .
    26,%2075.0);&vChartType_in=PNG&vChartURL_in=http://333.333.33.333/j2ee/servlet/chart"/>
    In short, the img calls a stored procedure and passes it a servlet among many other things. The procedure passes back an image to the browser.
    The image shows up in Firefox but not IE 7. I don't think its an issue with the stored procedure but I can't understand why IE doesn't show the image. Is there something I'm missing? I've tried both jpeg and png.
    Thanks
    Eric

    As the related posts suggest, you will need to use direct JDBC code for this.
    Also I'm not sure JDBC supports the RECORD type, so you may need to wrap your stored functions with ones that either flatten the record out, or take OBJECT types.

    The SP SCA is the simplest possible application I can think of...  The WebService accepts a single INT, calls BPEL>Receive>Assign>Invoke>dbAdapter(Stored Procedure) that accepts a single IN INTEGER parameter in an Oracle 11g database.
    Steps I've used to create the SP SCA. (Create Empty SOA Application)
    1.) Create Database Adapter in External References swim lane.
    2.) Set JNDI and Connection.
    3.) Browse to Oracle Procedure...click through Wizard and accept all defaults.
       CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TEST_SOA_API (
         wo_order_no_ IN INTEGER)
       IS
       BEGIN
         INSERT INTO TEST_TMP VALUES (wo_order_no_);
       END;
    4.) WSDL, XSD, JCA are automatically generated.
    5.) Create BPEL Process Component and select Template "Base on a WSDL".  I choose the WSDL created from the Database Adapter wizard.
    6.) The "Exposed Service" is automatically created and everything is wired.
    7.) I deploy to my CompactDomain (running on a local Oracle12 db).  No errors.
    8.) I login to EM and Test the WebService..and ALWAYS receive the error message above.
    I've tried BPEL Process and Mediator as components to simply pass the single incoming INT parameter to the SP DbAdapter and tried every combination I can think of with DataSource/DbAdapter Deployment through the Admin console.  I used the same exact steps above for INSERT, UPDATE, Polling and have had no issues so I cannot figure out why I'm not receiving java.NullPointer exception or why I'm receiving the XML/XSD malformation error.
    Stuck now...anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong or simply tell me I'm an idiot and shouldn't do SP's this way?
    FYI.  I've turned on logging for the oracle.soa.adapter.db class to TRACE: 32(FINEST).  Not much help to me

    Can someone create an SCA that simply accepts a single INT parameter and calls a Stored Procedure (Oracle) that inserts this INT into a table?  Maybe upload the project folder structure in a zip?
    Seems someone with experience on this platform could execute this task in 10-15 minutes.
    CREATE TABLE TEST_TMP (WO_ORDER_NO INT);
       CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TEST_SOA_API (
         wo_order_no_ IN INTEGER)
       IS
       BEGIN
         INSERT INTO TEST_TMP VALUES (wo_order_no_);
       END;

  • XML parsing in Stored procedure

    Hi friends,
    PLease help to resove my issue mentioned below.
    I am tring to parse one large xml whic i am getting from calling a webservice.I am reading line by line from the request and storing into a clob variable.
    I convert it to xml type for some manipulation after that When i am trying to convert it back to Clob by using getClobVal() data is getting truncated.
    Please help how can i resolve this issue

    hI,
    i AM TRYING TO CALL A WEBSERVICE FROM MY ORACLE STORED PROCEDURE .tHE REQUEST IS LIKE
    soap_request:= '<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="" xmlns:web="">
    <soapenv:Header/>
    <soapenv:Body xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:web="">
    <web:getEmpInfo>
    <Param>
    <WST/>
    <EmpId>'I am giving certain value here'</EmpId>
    <requestId/>
    </Param>
    </web:getEmpInfo>
    </soapenv:Body>
    </soapenv:Envelope>';
    http_req:= utl_http.begin_request
    ( 'Webservice URL'
    , 'POST'
    , 'HTTP/1.1'
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Type', 'text/xml'); -- since we are dealing with plain text in XML documents
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Length', length(soap_request));
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'SOAPAction', ''); -- required to specify this is a SOAP communication
    utl_http.write_text(http_req, soap_request);
    http_resp:= utl_http.get_response(http_req);
    utl_http.read_text(http_resp, soap_respond);// soap_request CLOB;
    // soap_respond CLOB;
    utl_http.end_response(http_resp);
    resp:= XMLType.createXML(soap_respond);// resp XMLType;
    My REsponse from webservice is in the following format
    <soapenv:Body><p663:getEmpInfoResponse xmlns:p663=""><getEmpInfoReturn><errorLevel>1</errorLevel>
    <returnMessage>.</returnMessage>
    <returnSet>My result is in here</returnSet>
    After that i am
    EXTRACTING the resp for getting result set
    Then to get canonical XML format(I mean with out any < or> symbols i am using
    respStr := resp.getClobVall();
    respStr := DBMS_XMLGEN.CONVERT(respStr,1);
    resp:= XMLType.createXML(respStr);
    parser := xmlparser.newParser;
    xmlparser.parseBuffer(parser, respStr);
    doc := xmlparser.getDocument(parser);
    xmlparser.freeParser(parser);
    The data is getting truncated when resp.getClobVall() is calling
    . So end tag missing error is coming while parsing.
    I am using 9i version oracle. XML that is returning from webservice is more that 80K

  • Generating XML File with Table data...

    Hi All,
    Bear with me, with my Oracle XML knowledge,,,
    we have Oracle 8i ( Relaease 3) as our database, and managegement want to have XML type of Text file, with respect to data in the Customer Table. Expected XML tags would be the Column Names of the Table.
    Table has three columns,, Name, Address, Telephone.
    So desired XML file looks like below:
    <Name>John Hunter</Name><Address> City Road, London</Address><Telephone>1223223</Telephone>
    If I deceided to do this task using PL/SQL, how could I start it,,,, All comments are welcome, this is the first time that I am going to generate this type of file ,,,

    Hi Chandana,
    You can check out the DBMS_XMLQUERY package for this purpose. It provides XMLType functionality in Oracle 8i. You can access the documentation for the same at:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96612/d_xmlque.htm#ARPLS066
    If you happen to have access to Oracle 9i, then you can use XMLType Views provided with XML DB for your requirement.
    Thanks

  • Switching Data Source for a report with stored procedure

    Post Author: ysbn
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    I've created a report and deployed it on a Crystal Server. The report is based on a certain stored procedure which also exists on other DB machines in my environment (Oracle machines). When I try to switch my report object to work with other machines (not the one originally used when the report was designed) the activation of the report fails. The error I see in the preview window is:
    Error in File <my rpt file name>: Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: &#91;Database Vendor Code: 6550 &#93;
    When I try the same thing with a report which is based on a view and not a stored procedure the switching of Data Source works perfectly.
    Is there a problem switching between data sources from the server when the report is based on stored procedure? Are there any configurations I need to do in order to support this scenario?
    Thanks!

    Hi everyone~
    i am now facing the same problem
    i am using CR2008 and Visual Studio 2008 c# to write a window program
    because we have 2 db environment (one is production , the other one is development) so i have set a prarameter to switch db connection in c# code.
    the database is Oracle, and the the report will connect to Oracle procedure (which it is stored in package) this procedure will return reference cursor, so the report will loop up this cursor to generate report.
    at first time, it work fine when i open the report in CR2008 designer and point to dev database (ie datasource point to oracle procedure) . but when i want to deploy this win application to client and point to prod database, it show (vendor error 6550)
    i found that i cannot change the datasource during runtime in c# code...
    am i miss something in code? here attached a part of this code...
    private void setDBLogonForReport(ConnectionInfo info, ReportDocument doc)
                Tables myTables = doc.Database.Tables;
                foreach (Table myTable in myTables)
                    TableLogOnInfo logOnInfo = myTable.LogOnInfo;
                    logOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = info;
                    logOnInfo.TableName = myTable.Name;
                    myTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(logOnInfo);
                    //myTable.Location = info.UserID + "." + "pkg_crystal_report." + myTable.Name;
                    //someone suggest i have to set the 'Location' for change the datasource, but i am not sure how to construct a
                    //string for point to oracle prcedure
    i will check it freq ... hope any expert can give me some advice ~
    thank you very much!!!

  • Executing a report with stored procedure causes error

    Hello,
    I've got a .NET application where a report gets generated from an .rpt template using Crystal Reports. A template has been created using the fields from stored procedure. While creating the template, I've been working with my DEV environment DB server, and with that server the .rpt has been saved. Within the Designer, I can preview the report, all working fine.
    Using the template with my application, if I set in the code for crystal connection to use the same DB server as has been saved with the .rpt, the report runs and I do get the result in my application as expected. But if I move my code to other environment, using another DB server (but not changing anything in the .rpt), while running the report in the application I get the following error:
    Exception: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.InternalException

    If I open in the Crystal Designer the rpt and change the DB to my new server, and then run the report in the application using that same new server, the report runs ok and I do get the results. As well, I don't have this problem using tables or views in the report. Independent of what server has been used while created the .rpt in the Designer, I get the report ran and presented according to the server that I point to within my code.
    I hope someone can help me out with thi.
    Thank you.

    Hi Jure,
    All I can suggest now is you try this [app|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533353333333933323331%7D.do]:
    It will get the connection if you need.
    If that doesn't work the purchase a support and Rep can connect to your PC to see what is going on...
    Thanks
