Generic File Proxy

Hi,
We have around 10 file to file scenarios from SAP R/3 to external system. All the scenarios are 1 to 1 mapping, no complex mapping is involved.
For these interfaces i want to created one genric proxy, which will be used by all of them.
Please anybody can give me an idea, how can i make this work.
Thanks
Srinivas

Hi Srinivas,
I think its a good idea to do it as this will reduce the number of development  and support time.
You can follow the following approach:
1. Make a master structure for the sender file structure. This master structure will include all the fields from sender 10 interfaces.
2. Similarly create a master structure for reciever interface. Make sure you set the occurence of all the target fields as 0..1 if you set the occurrence 1 then whenver that field is not populated in the target structure; PI mapping will give runtime error.
3. Do your message mapping as it is.
3. Create the  ID objects including File sender and reciever as it is. (Configure FCC properly!!)
Let us know if you face any issue with this approach..

  • Best Performance: HTTP accelerator or generic tcp proxy

    Hi,
We want to publish an application based on HTTPS. ( vmware view). Which would be a better choice, the HTTP accelerator, or the Generic TCP proxy, in terms of performance (lowest latency) ?
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
I am unable to identify a bottleneck.
The proxy is generally performing fine, only the vmware view connection through generic TCP proxy shows a delay.
    Kind regards,

The tuneup settings are from Novell, and they work together with proxy
settings to allow the proxy to work faster, and handle heavier loads.
Have a look at the proxy console statistics and see if you can get an
idea if there is a bottleneck somewhere. Perhaps disk I/O. Perhaps a
DNS server problem (check proxy console option 4).

  • Generic TPC proxy & terminal server

    Hi :
I am using Generic TCP to forward a TS request that os a TS server that is behind a Bordermanager 3.8 SP1.
Is that correct to use ?
I have a slow response, like it buffers for a time and then releases everything.
Is there anything to do or to fine tune that or is a bug or ma misconfiguration ?

I do it a lot. I prefer NAT, but generic proxy works fine. (NAT works
    even if proxy isn't loaded...)

That is not normal in my experience, unless your internet bandwidth is all
used up and everything to the internet is slow. I do a LOT of work
remotely, through BMgr servers, and I have a very good feel for the speeds
of remote access. Remote access doesn't feel that slow unless something
is wrong, or you are down in the 56k or less available bandwidth left on
    busy circuits.
    > Is there anything to do
    > or to fine tune

    > or a misconfiguration ?
You definitely want to tune the server, even if the generic proxy seemed
OK. See tip #23 at the URL below, and also tips 1 and 63.
Check for basic communications issue, like duplex mismatch on the server
    NIC's, viruses eating bandwidth, etc.
I would put a PC on the public side of BMgr, and give it a public address.
(Disconnect the router and use its address for a test if you have to).
That way you can rule out internet bandwidth as a factor. If generic
proxy is fast then, you start looking at the ISP, router and WAN link. If
the generic proxy is slow, you start looking at the server, and traffic
    to/from the server.

  • V8.2.1: generic file i/o error while loading VI's

    Hello,
I had a large LV application open and running fine.  I closed it, and upon re-opening the top-level VI it gives "Generic File I/O Error" on several sub-VI's (belonging to me, not LV).  Opening those sub VI's individually reveals no problem at all, and in any case the whole code base lives in a Subversion repository and I have tried checking out a fresh copy of the whole source code tree and the problem re-appeared.  Before Labview displays the "File I/O error" it will hang for several minutes with no disk or CPU activity.
I just tried checking out a fresh copy of the source tree on a separate computer.  Now Labview is hanging while loading "<vilib>:\DAQmx\create\channels.llb\DAQmx Create Channel (CI-GPS Timestamp).vi" after having managed to load 920 VI's.  On edit: I spoke too soon.  It is now duplicating the "Generic File I/O Error" on one of my sub VI's.
If anyone has any clue to this strange behavior please let me know.
    Thank you,
    -Brian

    What I found was this...
My code calls a bunch of subVI's in another directory.  Those subVI's in turn had some unwise paths saved in some of them that loaded other subVI's from a network shared drive instead of the local disk directory.
The network shared drive had been taken off line since the computer was delivered to a customer last Friday.  When LV tried to load the VI's from the shared drive, it would hang for about 5 minutes, then give the "Generic File I/O Error" with an "Ok" button to continue.  I eventually sat and did this for about 13 VI's, taking most of an hour while waiting for the network reads to timeout.
Once my now-broken application loaded I was able to successfully re-direct the missing VI's to the local disk, resolving the problem.
The "Generic File I/O Error" message could not be less useful in this case and I'm rather irritated by the genericity of the message.  Something like "Network read failed" would have immediately illustrated the problem and kept me from wasting a whole lot of time deciphering  it.

  • Flash Player Installer downloads from the Adobe distribution site as a generic file without an extension and the file won't open.

    Hi, everyone.
When I download Flash Player Installer from the Adobe distribution site Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe the file downloads to my hard drive as a generic file with no extension, and Windows can't determine which program to use in order to open/play the file. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
Is there something wrong with the downloaded file? Or am I missing required software?
    Thank you for your time,
    -Brandon

Yes, I've never had a problem before. I've even downloaded the Flash Player Install files from the Adobe distribution site on multiple occasions in the past without issue. The only thing I could think of is that perhaps the ".exe" extension was left off to avoid triggering security measures on a computer or private network that would prevent the download.
Anyway, it worked after I added the ".exe" extension to the filename, so I have no complaints!

  • Generic file I/O error. Cannot save VI "filename.VI"

Hi, I have LV 8.2.  I am having problems saving VI's after editing them.  I am getting the message:
Generic file I/O error.  Cannot save VI "filename.VI"
I can recreate the problem by creating a blank VI, placing a property node on the block diagram, right clicking on property and choosing, select property and in the window that pops up expanding Application and clicking on Directory path and clicking OK.  I save this VI to disk.  Then I load the file again and delete the property node. Now if I try to save that I get: Generic file I/O error.  Cannot save VI "filename.VI"
Furthermore with the real VI that I am having problems with.  If, when I get the cannot save message, I do a "Save as" and save a copy as "filename backup" and then quit labview without saving the "filename" vi, when I run LabVIEW again I get:
The last time you ran LabVIEW, an internal rror or crash occured at save.cpp, line 821.
I click investigate internal error message now and get told there is a logfile of the error.  The contents of the file on one occasion were, quote:

    Hello,
Sorry you've encountered this problem.  The cpp error is a known issue, which is filed under corrective action request number : 42BI4OO5.  In a nutshell, this means R&D is looking into the problem.  I attempted to reproduce the problem as you described below, but I did not get the "Generic file I/O error" as you did.
If you have any further insight or detail which perhaps is the key to reproducing this, please repost, and I'll try to reproduce this again!  In the mean time, does it help to copy and paste your code to a new VI, or does that VI suffer the same problem?
    Thank you,

  • Dynamic Archiving in File-Proxy Interface

    Hi Experts,
My scenario is File -> Proxy which updates certain data in the target SAP system. The logic in the receiver side is that, if the update fails, then the input file must be placed in Folder A. Else if the update is successful, then the file must be archived to Folder B.
Has anyone done this before? I know File interface is asynchronous so I'm not sure how to handle such kind of requirement.
    Appreciate any inputs. Thanks!
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
If  i was you i would use a Async/Sync bridge, in other words a File - Proxy - File scenario (without ccBPM). Check a similar scenario here File-RFC-File(Without BPM) - Process Integration - SCN Wiki
Im not so sure if the proxy interface supports this bridge, also you can do two scenarios, File - Proxy and Proxy - File, then inside the ECC  the ABAPers should call the second scenario after the update-

  • Set default app for generic files

I don't know when this started happening, but some OSX update broke my opening generic files. Now when I doubleclick the generic file icon it opens in Microsoft Word, which is unacceptable. So I deleted Word and now the files open in a genealogy application, which has to throw a number of error dialogs before it can be closed.
How do generic files know to open in the genealogy app? Is this something in Launch Services I can change to set them to open in a decent UNIX editor? This bugs me, because it all worked well until a few months ago.
    If I say:
    defaults read com.apple.LaunchServices 'LSHandlers'
    the resulting text contains:
    LSHandlerContentTag = ged;
    LSHandlerContentTagClass = "public.filename-extension";
    LSHandlerIgnoreCreator = 1;
    LSHandlerRoleAll = "uk.ac.qmw.dcs.seegedcomx";
seegedcomx is the app that now opens all generic files. Is there a way to set this to a proper application?

More than likely it's a LaunchServices problem and you should reset its database. See http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/resetlaunchservices.html for details.

  • CreatorContactInfo struct in Generic File Info Panels

    Hi all,
I developed a custom panel with custom metadata in Adobe Bridge CS4, using the Generic File Info Panels.
In this panel, I have to include custom metadata and the IPTC Contact metadata.
No problem with custom metadata, I have a problem with IPTC Contact:
If I insert value in the IPTC Panel provided by Adobe, I see that metadata is written in this way:
    <Iptc4xmpCore:CreatorContactInfo
        Iptc4xmpCore:CiAdrExtadr="value"
        Iptc4xmpCore:CiAdrCity="value"

        Iptc4xmpCore:CiEmailWork="value"
        Iptc4xmpCore:CiUrlWork="value"/>
If I insert values in my custom metadata I haven't CreatorContactInfo structure:

File Proxy Service Problem on errors
We are now facing two problems.
1.The proxy service is executed twice
2.File is getting moved to error directory with prefixed file names which we are not able to retrieve and use in the notification email.
Not sure how to fix :(

1.The proxy service is executed twice Check if this is due to transaction timeout issue as discussed here. Re: OSB File polling working twice with the same file
2.File is getting moved to error directory with prefixed file names which we are not able to retrieve and use in the notification email.I am not sure wehther you have any option here. You can check with support. Alternatively can raise notification mail with the timestamp and some file/business identifier from the file. The support person can then open the file from error directory to verify the file/business id in the file or educate the support user that the files will have a prefix

this is the list of the files sorted alphabetically but also is the list sorted by creation time (each filename (after yyy_C) contains a timestamp and also a date).
The file proxy is configured as belows:

    Get All Headers : No
    File Mask : yyy*.xml
    Polling Interval: 30

I used "Sort By Arrival : true" because from doc (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/httppollertransport/index.html) I read:
"This parameter indicates the sequence of events raised in the order of the arrival of files. The default value for this parameter is False"
It is not clear if 'order of the arrival' means by time of the arrival or by 'alphabetical order'.
I did a test using the above settings but I see from OSB log file that the files are processed neither by time order nor by alphabetical order:

How could I process files sequentially ?
I think using also Read Limit = 1 and Polling Interval = 1 sec doesn't work, because
    - if the proxy instance P1 reading file A takes more than 1 sec
    - after 1 sec a second proxy instance P2 starts to process file B
    - but P2 can completes its processing before P1 ...
What do you suggest to do ?
    Thanks in advance

Do you know if OSB when polling a file, takes it only when OSB recognizes the file has been written completely ?
I mean what happens if OSB wakes up while the file producer is still writing the file ?

That file might have moved to a different location on the server. I think you'll need to check with RefWorks support or your local IT department on why the install page links do not work.

  • Generic TCP proxy: how to create Access rule ?

    Hi,
I have configured a Generic TCP proxy on the public address, port 6300 of our bordermanager server that points to an internal server 192.168.10.148 on port 80. I have configured the filter exceptions for port 6300.
I have also tried to create an ACL rule to give everyone on the internet access to the Generic TCP in different ways, but I'm unable to succeed. I can see in the proxy statistics, number of ACL denials increasing each time I try to connect so the problem is in the ACL rule.
The rule I think should be right but isn't working is the following:
    Allow:
    source: host Ip Addresses:
    IP: equals any (the Internet)
    Destination: Host IP addresses:
    192.168.10.148 (the internal server)
    Origin server port:
6300 (the port on the public interface on which the Generic TCP proxy is listening).
What am I doing wrong ?
