Generic reporting on SQL variables using sqlgls() /Pro*C

Generic reporting on host/SQL variables using sqlgls()
I use sqlgls() in Pro*C 8.1.7 to get the last SQL statement that was parsed.
It returns something like this.
"select distinct QTY ,CHAPTER into :b0:b1,:b2:b3 from PT ,PU ,UIN U ,EU where (PART=:b4 and PU.PART=:b5) ....."
I would like to see what the values are for each input variable e.g :b4 and :b5
Is there any generic way of reporting what these values are rather than explicity writing code for each individual SQL statement?
Is there a Pro*C method that gets the values of :b4 and :b5??
We are recording the last SQL statement to a text file but cannot see what the values are that caused the SQL query to fail.

My answer is only for 1. problem (about ORA-01458)
I think that you use declaration for cursor C0 with a varchar
variable before you ininitialize length (member .len of varchar
structure) of this variable.
It's famous that many errors come from uninitialized varchar
variables in Pro*C.

  • Can Portal Report from SQL Query use where column IN (:bind_variable)

    I would like to create a portal report from sql query with IN (:bind_variable) in the where clause. The idea is that the user would enter comma-separated or comma-quote-separated values for the bind_variable. I have tried this several ways but nothing seems to work. Can this be done?

    Hi,
    Which version of portal are you using. This is a bug. It has been fixed in 30984.

  • Generic reporting tool in webdynpro abap

    Hi Experts,
    Can you please let me know if GRT(generic reporting tool) can be used in Webdynpro ABAP application created using FPM.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sonbia

    Hello Sonia,
    what is the GRT? I've had a search through SCN and cannot find any reference to it - is it a standard SAP product? I would appear to me not to be - and as such I'd guess that there isn't any standard UIBB for it.
    If it is a custom solution - then if it is developed in WDA then it should be relatively simple to wrap it in a UIBB layer and embed it into an FPM application.
    If it's not developed in WDA, then I'd suggest that the answer is a clear "No".
    Do let us know what you mean by GRT - perhaps provide a link to some SAP help about the product?
    Thanks,

    It seems that the project cames to big. I´m not the editor, so i can´t imagine how it could go that way and hao can we open it now.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jon.
    Thanks for your help. I´ve seen a post telling the same thing. I finally let Final cut pro X about 8 hours and it finally opened the project, but i couldn´t make anything with it. Tried to export xml and import it to another project without success. The problem persists. So i also tried to cut some parts from the project and is still the same. For each test we must wait 8 hours and it´s not reasonable time to test things. I just sent the project to apple engineers, so if is there any solution i will post in here.
    Thanks.

  • Where and how do I get the SQL Query used by the Microsoft Generic Report Library - Alerts?

    Background:
    I'm tasked with the following: I need to create a new Report and the SQL
    The two canned reports that I can pattern after are: Microsoft Generic Report Library
    - Alerts (there is also an alert detail report that can be chosen within the alert report that we may want to use instead)
    - Most Common Alerts
    I'm trying to do this:
    Add another parameter to search on customfield3.
    It should be able to report on all alerts that were assigned to the specific team for the time period along with the top 10 (most common alerts) assigned to the team for the time period.
    Choose as the objects (group) all servers, but Imay need to adjust the report to just look at all alerts without having to provide objects or a group
    The struggle I'm having is: I know SQL. I know how to create an RDL file.
    But Where are the RDL files for the canned reports so I can modify the canned RDL and modify its SQL and forms?
    What is the SQL/ where can I find the SQL used for the Generic Report Library -> Alerts

    Easy but you need to extract it from Microsoft Generic Report Pack.
    So.. the procedure is as follows:
    1) You export and unseal Management Pack from your SCOM using
    Boris's OpsgMgr tools (MPViewer
    2.3.3)
    2) Ok you've got unsealed xml, now the tricky part, use
    MpElementsExtract tool, example of usage:
    MPElementsExtract.exe <MP.xml> /ex /destination:<destination>
    That you way you get several folders out of mp:
    DWScripts, DWSubScripts, LinkedReports, ReportResources, Reports
    Take a look into content of first 2, there will be pure sql scripts, and rdl's are in Reports folder :)
    Other way is to just use SQL profiler and catch SQL query while generating report.

  • Is it possible to create a generic report that accepts the SQL as a param

    Is it possible to create a generic report that accepts the FULL sql statement as a paramater and returns variable results based on this?
    We have a requirement to have a generic export routine to spit out csv's from clicking on a web page hyperlink, which would need to accept a "new" sql statement for every run, each containing different columsn etc that would be needed in the output.
    I was hoping could have a generic Oracle report, exporting delimited data format (and as such not using a layout) and somehow pass in the "new" sql statement as a parameter at run time - each sql statement would be different with different columns etc.
    Is this possible with oracle reports ?
    thanks

    If you need a simple dump of data you could try writing a report with a simple query such as
    select 'Report title or column headers'
    from dual
    &data_query
    then your &data_query parameter could be
    union select col1||','||col2 from data_table
    If you are outputing a comma separated data dump the you can concatenate together your data into a single text field.
    This would allow you to have a simple heading followed by the actual data. I guess you could extend this so that the 'Report title or column headers' from the first query was also a parameter to output your row headings i.e.
    select :column_headings_text
    from dual
    &data_query
    Give it a go and good luck

  • How to make column headers in table in PDF report appear bold while datas in table appear regular from c# windows forms with sql server2008 using iTextSharp

    Hi my name is vishal
    For past 10 days i have been breaking my head on how to make column headers in table appear bold while datas in table appear regular from c# windows forms with sql server2008 using iTextSharp.
    Given below is my code in c# on how i export datas from different tables in sql server to PDF report using iTextSharp:
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.ComponentModel;
    using System.Data;
    using System.Drawing;
    using System.Linq;
    using System.Text;
    using System.Threading.Tasks;
    using System.Windows.Forms;
    using System.Data.SqlClient;
    using iTextSharp.text;
    using iTextSharp.text.pdf;
    using System.Diagnostics;
    using System.IO;
    namespace DRRS_CSharp
    public partial class frmPDF : Form
    public frmPDF()
    InitializeComponent();
    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    Document doc = new Document(PageSize.A4.Rotate());
    var writer = PdfWriter.GetInstance(doc, new FileStream("AssignedDialyzer.pdf", FileMode.Create));
    doc.SetMargins(50, 50, 50, 50);
    doc.SetPageSize(new iTextSharp.text.Rectangle(iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Width, iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Height));
    doc.Open();
    PdfPTable table = new PdfPTable(6);
    table.TotalWidth =530f;
    table.LockedWidth = true;
    PdfPCell cell = new PdfPCell(new Phrase("Institute/Hospital:AIIMS,NEW DELHI", FontFactory.GetFont("Arial", 14, iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD, BaseColor.BLACK)));
    cell.Colspan = 6;
    cell.HorizontalAlignment = 0;
    table.AddCell(cell);
    Paragraph para=new Paragraph("DCS Clinical Record-Assigned Dialyzer",FontFactory.GetFont("Arial",16,iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD,BaseColor.BLACK));
    para.Alignment = Element.ALIGN_CENTER;
    iTextSharp.text.Image png = iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance("logo5.png");
    png.ScaleToFit(105f, 105f);
    png.Alignment = Element.ALIGN_RIGHT;
    SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=NPD-4\\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=DRRS;Integrated Security=true");
    SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("Select d.dialyserID,r.errorCode,r.dialysis_date,pn.patient_first_name,pn.patient_last_name,d.manufacturer,d.dialyzer_size,r.start_date,r.end_date,d.packed_volume,r.bundle_vol,r.disinfectant,t.Technician_first_name,t.Technician_last_name from dialyser d,patient_name pn,reprocessor r,Techniciandetail t where pn.patient_id=d.patient_id and r.dialyzer_id=d.dialyserID and t.technician_id=r.technician_id and d.deleted_status=0 and d.closed_status=0 and pn.status=1 and r.errorCode<106 and r.reprocessor_id in (Select max(reprocessor_id) from reprocessor where dialyzer_id=d.dialyserID) order by pn.patient_first_name,pn.patient_last_name", conn);
    conn.Open();
    SqlDataReader dr;
    dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
    table.AddCell("Reprocessing Date");
    table.AddCell("Patient Name");
    table.AddCell("Dialyzer(Manufacturer,Size)");
    table.AddCell("No.of Reuse");
    table.AddCell("Verification");
    table.AddCell("DialyzerID");
    while (dr.Read())
    table.AddCell(dr[2].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[3].ToString() +"_"+ dr[4].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[5].ToString() + "-" + dr[6].ToString());

    table.AddCell(dr[0].ToString());
    dr.Close();
    table.SpacingBefore = 15f;
    doc.Add(para);
    doc.Add(png);
    doc.Add(table);
    doc.Close();
    System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("AssignedDialyzer.pdf");
    if (MessageBox.Show("Do you want to save changes to AssignedDialyzer.pdf before closing?", "DRRS", MessageBoxButtons.YesNoCancel, MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation) == DialogResult.Yes)

    else if (MessageBox.Show("Do you want to save changes to AssignedDialyzer.pdf before closing?", "DRRS", MessageBoxButtons.YesNoCancel, MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation) == DialogResult.No)
    this.Close();
    The above code executes well with no problem at all!
    As you can see the file to which i create and save and open my pdf report is
    AssignedDialyzer.pdf.
    The column headers of table in pdf report from c# windows forms using iTextSharp are
    "Reprocessing Date","Patient Name","Dialyzer(Manufacturer,Size)","No.of Reuse","Verification" and
    "DialyzerID".
    However the problem i am facing is after execution and opening of document is my
    column headers in table in pdf report from
    c# and datas in it all appear in bold.
    I have browsed through net regarding to solve this problem but with no success.
    What i want is my pdf report from c# should be similar to following format which i was able to accomplish in vb6,adodb with MS access using iTextSharp.:
    Given below is report which i have achieved from vb6,adodb with MS access using iTextSharp
    I know that there has to be another way to solve my problem.I have browsed many articles in net regarding exporting sql datas to above format but with no success!
    Is there is any another way to solve to my problem on exporting sql datas from c# windows forms using iTextSharp to above format given in the picture/image above?!
    If so Then Can anyone tell me what modifications must i do in my c# code given above so that my pdf report from c# windows forms using iTextSharp will look similar to image/picture(pdf report) which i was able to accomplish from
    vb6,adodb with ms access using iTextSharp?
    I have approached Sound Forge.Net for help but with no success.
    I hope anyone/someone truly understands what i am trying to ask!
    I know i have to do lot of modifications in my c# code to achieve this level of perfection but i dont know how to do it.
    Can anyone help me please! Any help/guidance in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    I hope i get a reply in terms of solving this problem.

  • Can I declare variables in Reports from SQL Query

    Hi
    I have a Report from SQL Query published as a portlet on a page among other reports. In the query report I am using the fuction WWCTX_API.GET_USER at quite a few places to filter the data returned to the user. Can I assingn the user id to a variable at some level & replace the fuction WWCTX_API.GET_USER with the variable in all the places.
    For eg:
    usr varchar2(25);
    usr:= PORTAL30.WWCTX_API.GET_USER;
    select USER_ID, USER_LVL, BUSINESS_ID, BRANCH_ID from crs_user where user_id=usr;
    can i declare variable and assign the value like the above at any level(Report or Page Level) to the acces the variale in queries.
    Thanks in advance

    I have found that you can't use a * in a dynamic page.
    Try this:
    <ORACLE>
    DECLARE
    usr varchar2(25):=PORTAL30.WWCTX_API.GET_USER;
    BEGIN
    for c in
    (SELECT <column_name> <alias> FROM PORTALWORK.CRS_USER WHERE USER_ID=usr)
    Loop
    htp.p(c.<alias>);
    END;
    </ORACLE>
    You can also add table tags for column formating:
    <table>
    <tr><td>column 1</td></tr><tr><td nowrap>
    <ORACLE>
    DECLARE
    usr varchar2(25):=PORTAL30.WWCTX_API.GET_USER;
    BEGIN
    for c in
    (SELECT <column_name> <alias> FROM PORTALWORK.CRS_USER WHERE USER_ID=usr)
    Loop
    htp.p(c.<alias>);
    END;
    </ORACLE>
    </td></tr></table>

  • SQL report region source to call a pl/sql function using DB link

    Hi - I have a pl/sql function fn_dbtype(id NUMBER) defined in database X. The pl/sql function executes couple DML statements and returns a string (a SELECT query). I am able to call this function using SQL Plus (Connected to Database X) as below and it works fine:
    declare
    vSQL VARCHAR2(100);
    begin
    vSQL := fn_dbtype(1);
    end;
    The DML operations completed fine and vSQL contains the "Select" query now.
    In APEX:
    I am trying to create a SQL report in APEX using SQL query(PL/SQL function returning a sql statement) option. I am trying to figure out what to put in the region source so that the output of the "Select" query is displayed in the report.
    Moreover APEX is hosted in a different database instance. So I would need to call this pl/sql function using a DB Link.
    Please let me know what I need to put in the region source to execute the pl/sql function which returns the "Select" query thereby displaying the query output in the report. Thanks.

  • How to build a report in web Intelligence using Store procedure under Microsoft SQL Server 2000

    Post Author: ltkin
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    Hi,
    How to build a report in web Intelligence using Store procedure under Microsoft SQL Server 2000 ?
    Regards,

    Hi ltkin,
    Unfortunately, it is not possible in Xir2 to create Webi reports from stored procedures.
    Webi reports can only be created from Universe. So in Business Objects XIR3 we can create a special universe that enables Web Intelligence user's to access stored procedures residing in the database. This is the only way that Web Intelligence user's can access stored procedures.
    Please let me know if the above information helps.

  • Using sql:variable in an insert statement

    I'm writing an insert statement for a table with an XML column.  Most of the XML is static, but I need to replace the value of an element with the value of a T-SQL variable, as shown here:
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[OrderDetail](
    [OrderID] [int] NULL,
    [OrderDetail] [xml] NULL
    GO
    DECLARE @XMLData XML;
    DECLARE @ItemID INT;
    SET @ItemID = 1000;
    SELECT @XMLData = N'
    <OrderDetail xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    </OrderDetail>
    SET @XMLData.modify('insert <ItemID>[sql:variable("@ItemID")]</ItemID> into (/OrderDetail)[1]')
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[OrderDetail] ([OrderID], [OrderDetail])
    VALUES (@ItemID, @XMLData);
    When I run this, it inserts "[sql:variable("@ItemID")]" instead of the value of @ItemID.  If someone could show me the proper syntax, I would really appreciate it.  Thanks.

    Yes, that worked.  Now I want to change it a little.  I also have an attribute that I need to update with the value of a variable.
    DECLARE @XMLData XML;
    DECLARE @SetID INT;
    DECLARE @SetIDStr VARCHAR(12);
    DECLARE @SetIDXML XML;
    SET @SetID = 9999;
    SET @SetIDStr = CONVERT(VARCHAR(12), @SetID);
    SET @SetIDXML = CONVERT(XML, @SetIDStr);
    SELECT @XMLData = N'
    <OrderDetail xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <ItemID>1000</ItemID>

    </OrderDetail>
    SET @XMLData.modify('replace value of (/OrderDetail/RightOperand/@ID)[1] with sql:variable("@SetIDXML")');
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[OrderDetail] ([OrderID], [OrderDetail])
    VALUES (@SetID, @XMLData);
    SELECT * FROM [dbo].[OrderDetail];
    I'm trying to replace "ID="15524"" with the value of @SetID.  This code throws an exception:
    Msg 9342, Level 16, State 1, Line 23
    XQuery [modify()]: An XML instance is only supported as the direct source of an insert using sql:column/sql:variable.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • How to find out if a SQL is using a bind variable or not?

    In order to make a SQL use consistent execution plan, I want to create a profile for a SQL. But I need to know if a SQL is using bind variable or not to create a profile for all the same SQLs except the literal value. How can I do that?
    Thanks in advance

    You can tell if an SQL statement uses a bind variable by looking at the SQL statement.
    If you look in the program that submits the SQL statement you can see how it constructs, prepares, and executes the statement.
    If you are just looking at the SQL in the shared pool then depending on how the statement is written and the setting of database parameters like cursor sharing then it can be more difficult but if you see a constant (actual value) that is a constant. A bind variable would appear as a name in the where clause where that name does not exist any of the tables referenced in the query. Note it is technically possible to create pl/sql variables with the same name as columns in the query but that is poor coding and leads to issues.
    Note - To Oracle two versions of the otherwise same query where one has a constant and the other has a bind variable are not the same query and often produce different plans. This is a common error made by developers new to Oracle when using explain plan. To explain a query that uses bind variables place a ":" in front of the variable name in the SQL submitted to explain plan.
