Generic technology connector and SPML problems

I'm having some trouble finding docs for my problem. What I'm trying to do is create my own spml web service (employing the new Java 6 JWS technology), which can be used by OIM by means of a generic technology connector . But no matter what I do, I can't seem to make the two communicate. I can't find any documentation explaining how to create a SOAP web service for SPML: what methods should be created, their signature, whether there is any specific WSDL that I should use to generate the Java classes and methods for the web service, etc...
I actually don't even know whether the new JWS can be used at all. Perhaps I should be using Apache Axis (or Axis2) or something else.
Thanks.

This is what I've found in the docs:
"Each SPML request is sent in a SOAP message. The SOAP header carries authentication information for the request. The actual SPML request data is the SOAP message body. "
All I'm trying to do is create a SOAP web service (in this case with Java 6, but that's not fundamental) that can intercept that message and grab the SPML request (and then do what I have to do).
I tried with something like the following code:
package wsspml;
import javax.jws.WebService;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.util.logging.*;
@WebService
public class SPMLServer {
     public String processRequest(String requestData) {
but it won't work. It's like the exposed SOAP method "processRequest" is invisible. It's not being called. Perhaps the signature is wrong. I don't know what to make of it. I'm trying to understand how to grab that SPML request that's coming from OIM through the custom generic technology connector that I configured.

  • Regarding Generic Technology Connector OIM

    Hi,
With what type of resources can we use a generic technology connector (GTC) for recon and provisioning ?
Can it be used for recon/provisioning with common resources like AD, ACF2 or simply with resources like flat file, ODS ?
    Kindly reply.
    Kind Regards,
    Varun

For AD, ACF2 etc quite sophisticated OOTB connectors are already available. GTC is only for Flat File etc.
GTC is a buggy technology and not recommended to be used.

  • Generic technology connector

How do i delete a generic technology connector in IDM ?
    I can see manage , create .... How do I delete one ? :)
    Cheers
    S.

Everything can be done at DB level. That's too obvious. Usually we do DB Backup.
But its not recommended. Anyway you are always open to R&D and it would be good if you can find a solution and share it for other users as well.

  • What is data sets, parent data, child data in generic technology connector..

    Hi All,
I am a new learner to OIM. Please try to give a brief details of data sets, child data, parent data, providers in Generic Technology Connectors..
    Thanks in advance..

    Description:
You get this error, if you are passing reserved key words to the XML Parser or the XML syntax is wrong.
    Cause:
I suppose, you are getting this error from tcImportOperationsIntf's addXMLFile() method. From your error message it looks like, when a file is submitted to XML Parser during the import operation, syntax is wrong.
    Solution:
Check the code that is generating the xml file. Easy way to test is : open the xml file in IE. If there is syntax error, IE will throw you the error.
    Hope this helps you.
    Cheers,

  • Issues with WS/SPML Generic Technology Connector

    Hi,
When a recon event occurs from my trusted source(user created in iPlanet), the user is to be provisioned to my WS based Target via the WS/SPML GTC.
If I set the access policy to be 'with approval' (default approval process - approved by XELSYSADM), the provisioning shows up in the Admin's Pending Approvals, and I am manually able to approve and complete the provisioning.
However, If I remove the 'with approval' from the access policy, the GTC Framework Provisioning fails, and the entire transaction is rolled back - i.e., the user is not even created in OIM (but the event shows up in the User Management -> Reconciliation Manager of the Design Console).
I would like to completely automate the provisioning, i.e. the user created in iPlanet should be reconciled and automatically provisioned via the GTC without the intermediate approval step.
Any clues on how to set this right?

  • GTC connectors and SPML compliant

    Hi
I am trying to integrate a target application using GTC connector transport providers as web services and Format providers as SPML and even i have to create a dummy web service which is compliant with SPML so that it can be integrated with OIM.
can any one pl help me to create a Dummy webservice compliant OIM SPML?
Web services shud be created using Java. The web service needs to store data the in txt file and send a response to OIM.

Make sure you are exporting the Generic Connector type object, and not the Resource Object. There are configurations that only come when you export this way. Otherwise you only get the resource and process definition workflow, and none of the configurations.
You might also need to export the provider definition as well and import.

  • Generic Technology Connector Process Form

    Hi,
I have created a GTC database connector which provisions data to 3 tables. The problem i am facing is after the connector is created and if i create a new version in the form manager and add pre-populate adapter and try to make version active. I get the following error.
ERROR [XELLERATE.SERVER] Class/Method: tcSDK/validateReconciliationFieldMappings Error :Newer version of the user defined form does not contain all of the fields that are mapped for reconciliation.
ERROR [XELLERATE.SERVER] Class/Method: tcDataObj/save Error :Data Update Failed
I am not changing any fields only adding pre-populate adapters
    Thanks & regards,

I have also tested the same with 2 test database tables and if i update the child form with pre-populate adapter and than update the parent form with pre-populate adapter, it gives the same error.
So what are the things i need to take care of while updating the parent and child forms.
    Thanks

  • JDBC Connector and pooling problems.  Should be ConnectionPoolDataSource ?

    Ciao all,
I am testing the JDBC Connector by Sun.
As you know, such JDBC connector is a JCA connector which can be used to
wrap a JDBC Driver or a JDBC Data Source or a JDBC
    ConnectionPoolDataSource into a JCA connector.
Such JDBC Connector exposes to the client component the usual DataSource
interface, so that an application that was developed using a DataSource
can be easily migrated to a JCA enabled application: the application in fact will use the JDBC connector as if it was a DataSource, without
knowing that actually it is a JCA connector.
Here is my problem: the JCA architecture provides a pool. Therefore, I'd like the JDBC Connector to appear to the client as a
ConnectionPoolDataSource rather than a simple DataSource.
In fact, I have an application that performs a JNDI lookup to retrieve a JDBC data source. Then, if the obtained data source is instance of ConnectionPoolDataSource then the applications will use the SQL Connection and will closes it to release it back to the pool.
But if the data source is instance of DataSource, then the application
will retrieve a SQL connection, will use it, and will keep it in its own pool in order to reuse the SQL connection for better performance.
Now, if such application works with either a DataSource or a ConnectionPoolDataSource everything works properly, but when it works
with the JDBC Connector it fails: the JDBC Connector in fact appears as
a simple DataSource without pooling, so the application keeps the
obtained SQL connections in its own pool. But actually, the JDBC
Connector is a JCA connector which has a pool too, so the SQL connection
is kept in two pools and as a consequence, the JDBC Connector pool invalidates or destroy the connection in its pool, and the application, which is unaware, keeps in its pool a reference to an invalid connection, which leads to a SQLException at runtime.
So my question is: don't you think that the JDBC Connector should implement ConnectionPoolDataSource rather then DataSource, since it is a
JCA connector that offers pool services ?
And if so, is there a way to submit this question to someone working for Sun ?
    Thank you for your time.
    Gian Maria Romanato.

  • My 2008 Macbook only charges when it's sleeping. When it's awake, the MagSafe adapter blinks green on and off. I've cleaned the connectors and the problem is still there.

This is a recent problem, only since I updated the last security update from apple has this been happening. No matter where I plug the laptop in (as in, no matter the power source), the magsafe adapter glows green like it's going to charge, that lasts roughly a second and my mac behaves as if it's going to charge (different status bar indicator and brightness jumps).. aaand then the green light shuts off completely, mac brightness & status indicators go back to normal.  Then the light comes back on, then shuts off, rinse, repeat.  When I put the mac to sleep or shut it down completely, then plug the magsafe in, it works and charges just fine. But then the second I wake the mac up, the orange charge light shuts off and it goes into the green light loop again.  Weird issue, just putting it out there to see if anyone's had that happen before and can offer tips. I've tried resetting the SMC and removing the battery when it's shut down, btw. Halp!

    Hello brixton81,
Thank you for providing so much information about what you are experiencing with your MagSafe adapter.  I recommend reviewing the article below to troubleshoot this issue.  You have already gone through some great troubleshooting steps, some of which are in the article, and you can skip those since you have already taken them:

  • Generic connector with webservice and SPML provider

  • Generic LDAP Connector

    Hi,
do we have in OIM such as a Generic LDAP connector to connect
    LDAPs like OpenLdap?
    Thanks.

The traditional solution to your problem is to take the "Sun Java System Directory" connector and customize it. All the LDAP based connectors are based on JNDI so they will work fine with any LDAP v3 server.
I seem to remember that there was some talk of LDAP support in the generic technology connector framework but it doesn't look like the support is there in 9.1.

  • Generic Data Source and InfoPackage Data Selection

Hello,  I'm trying to extract data from a generic data source (composed of a view joining 4 tables) using the Data Selection Criteria in an infopackage.  Sometimes the selection criteria is ignored and more data is pulled than expected.  The number of selectable items in the generic data source has been reduced (in case this was an issue) and for a short time the infopackaged pulled the expected number of records.  Then another change was made to the generic data source and the problem returned.  In any case, the transported generic data source does not work in the target system either.  I'm not sure what is causing this to happen.  Any ideas???  BW 3.5.

I would like to ask if there some configuration step I have missed upon which causes this error?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply! found out that I populated Connector Server with a value hence it was giving out this error. Thanks!

  • Announcing General Availability of PowerShell Connector and Release Candidate of Generic SQL and SAP Roles/Users

The FIM team is pleased to announce the availability of some additional Connectors for FIM2010R2.
    General Availability of PowerShell Connector
The PowerShell Connector can be used to communicate with a system through PowerShell scripts. This allows an easy and flexible way to communicate with other systems but also to pre-/post-process data and files before handed over to the FIM Synchronization
Service. We believe the community will help providing scripts for this Connector for various systems and will open a place where scripts can be published for reuse.

Release Candidate of Generic SQL Connector
The Generic SQL Connector will allow you to connect to any database where you have an ODBC driver available. It enables new features compared to the built-in MA such as support for Stored Procedures, running SQL scripts, built-in delta import support, import
multiple object types, connect to multiple tables, and much more. This Connector is built on ECMA2.3 which allows schema discoverability to be customized in the Sync Engine UI. A pre-release of the next Sync Engine hotfix is included with the Connector download
and is required for the Connector to work.

Release Candidate of SAP Users and Roles/Groups
The updated SAP templates for Users and Roles/Groups allows you to manage Users, Roles, and Groups in SAP. This also include password sync for Users to SAP. The Connector will make sure roles are represented as groups to make it possible to manage these
with bhold. This template will require the previously published WebService Connector:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=235883.

    https://connect.microsoft.com/site433/Downloads/DownloadDetails.aspx?DownloadID=52651
If you have participated in any other Connector preview program you will have access to the Release Candidate downloads. If you have not participated before then to get access to the preview programs on Connect either join the program “Identity and Access
Management”, “FIM Synchronization Service Connectors Pre-release” on
    http://connect.microsoft.com/directory or follow this link
    http://connect.microsoft.com/site433/SelfNomination.aspx?ProgramID=6709&pageType=1
We have also published an update to the Generic LDAP Connector adding support for some additional LDAP directories, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2936070/. If you have additional LDAP directories you think we should support, please feel free to contact me.

We've been using the OpenLDAPXMA to be able to connect to ACF2 CA-LDAP (from Computer Associates) running on a IBM Z-OS Mainframe System. We've been using it for password synchronization since 2004 on MIIS. Today it's still used via the
    OpenLDAPXMA (64bit) on FIM 2010 R2.
We had to tweak the password management component in the OpenLDAPXMA to support the error messages we get from the ACF2 System, as we support a multi-master password setup between Mainframe and Active Directory (one can change the password on
MF and/or on Windows). by example  "LDP0406E ACF2 error modifying lid(ACF00155 NEW PASSWORD CANNOT BE THE SAME AS CURRENT PASSWORD)".
Additionally, we cannot get the delta import to work with the CA-LDAP, there's no capability in it and we tried to use the time attribute to use in the query for recent changes, but it does not work. (I think we need it in a large integer format
    or unix time integer).
Would be great to have Microsofts' support in this :)
In a case like this where your follow-up has nothing to do with the
original post you should create a new thread.
Having said that, neither of the MAs to which you refer are official
Microsoft MAs and as such there is no support from Microsoft available.
Also, keep in mind that the ECMA1/XMA extensibility framework has been
deprecated and replaced by the ECMA 2.0. You should plan on replacing
existing ECMA1 management agents with ECMA2.0 connectors.

    Got the errors.
    1) DB_STATUS.. error was coming since the lookup I gave there was not actually created in the database due to a refresh I did while creating it effectively deleting all the entered data.
    2) The error in logs was coming due to wrong input of the GTC database provider during the creation of IT Resource.
