Geo Tagging info on Nokia N8

Hello,
I'm using N8 for more than 2 years, but after updating to belle refresh geo taggin info gets removed automatically after phone restarts. All my previous photos clicked with geotag info before updating still have location details and I can see them in maps. And now when I click new photos they have location info, I can see them in maps but after my phone restarts all these geotag information gets deleted automatically.
Can you please help me finding what might be problem with my phone.
Looking for your helpful suggestions.
Thank You.

thanks @hpholm with your advice I get the location details on the image.
But is there any permant solution for this? Or everytime to get these details in the maps I have to remove memory card?
Once again thanks for your reply.

Where do you store your photos? Mass memory (E) or memory card (F)?
I found out that in my N8, if you store your picture in memory card (F), after you restart your device, the GPS info will be missing, also if you put it in an album, it will be missing from the album too. To resolve this, safely remove your memory card, and then insert it again. Then open the gallery, wait for it to refresh, and you will have your GPS info and album back. I do this every time I restart the device. For some reason after restarting the device, it will not fully read the image info. Drive E is not affected by this.

  • Geo tagging in Nokia Photos

    Hi,
I have Nokia N 82, v 31.0.016.  For some of my geo-tagged pictures, after syncing with Nokia Photos, if i want to see my geo-tagged picture in Show item in Map View, i am able to see the picture in Map view of Nokia Photos, but in Timeline view, if i try to flip the same photos which is geo-tagged, it will not show the location where it is taken, Is it a bug ? For geo-tagged image why the location is not stored default on tags ?  Will it be useful, if geo-tagged pictures location tag is updated automatically? Or it has to be made as Manual to store the location tag for all the images which are already geo-tagged?  Hope it sounds clear ...

  • Info for requesting geo-tagging for Canon Powershot cameras.

I currently have a Canon powershot which I love, but was hoping to upgrade to a newer model that supported geo-tagging..
I just called Canon customer service and asked if there were any current or future models that would be including this feature..
The rep said he is not given any info on future models but that no current models offered geo-tagging.
He did say that my call would go down as a feature request and if enough people are looking for this feature it will be included soon..
So for what it's worth, if you are interested in requesting this feature, Canon's number is 1-800-652-2666..
I would really like to be able to put places to work without entering manually.

If you have an iPhone, you can use it as a geologger using an app called GeoLogTag. I'm doing this for a couple weeks now and it works great. The app exports GPX files, that can be used with geotagging apps like HoudahGeo.
With this workflow, you can keep you current Canon Powershot camera, if you have an iPhone 3G of course.
Another feature of GeoLogTag (off-topic now) is that it can geotag Flickr photos directly from within the app, which is pretty cool!

  • IPhoto 09 not recognising locations for geo-tagged photos

I've been geotagging my photos in iPhoto for over a year now, using HoudahGeo. This works really well and integrates great with sites such as Flickr that support geo-tagged photos.
When I installed iPhoto 09, it only recognises about 30 photos out of several thousand as geo-tagged. These are mainly photos taken with my iPhone, but also some taken with my Sony camera and geotagged with HoudahGeo.
I've checked a sample of the ones it does not put in a location (all taken with the same Sony camera) and the Exif data is there with the correct latitude and longitude but iPhoto 09 sees these fields as blank when I do a Photos > Shows Extended Photo Info, the latitude and longitude fields are blank.
Anyone any ideas what I am doing wrong / how I get the photos to show on the map in iPhoto 09?

I usually import the photos direct to iPhoto from my camera and then use HoudahGeo to geo-tag the original copies of iPhoto in my library. Prior to iPhoto 9 this is not a big issue as it did not use the geo-tag information directly but with iPhoto 9 it's a big issue for users like me as I'd rather not have to export from the camera to a folder, geo-tag and then import to iPhoto 9 as it's messy to say the least.
As I noted - this will not work - iPhoto is a database and it keeps data about the photo in its database - as all database programs do - and changing the data elsewhere will not update the database
Anytime you apply modifications directly to the data in the iPhoto database you are risking corruption and it is recommended that you not ever modify the contents of the iPhoto library
I use an ATP Photo Finder - http://www.atpinc.com/p2-4a.php?sn=00000414 - which applies the Geocodeing data directly to my photos so when I import them they are complete - it simplifies my work flow a lot
Surely Apple will have thought of users like me who geo-tag using a GPS external to the camera and provided some easy method of re-reading the Exif data in the photos in real time?

  • Where is the GEO location info?

I cannot seem to find where the geo location info is located on a pic. It is not showing up under picture information in iPhoto, or on the iPhone. Any help?
    Thanks

Yes, it's in the photo info. On a Mac, you can see it by selecting the photo, then hitting command-I (or right clicking and selecting "Show Photo Info." There are two fields near the bottom for "GPS Latitude" and "GPS Longitude."
Note that this also works on the first gen iPhone -- when I launched the camera, it asked whether Camera could use my current location info, then it tagged the photo I took.
However, I don't know yet how to use this data -- as a previous poster said, Flickr doesn't seem to know where that picture came from. When I view the photo in Flickr, the EXIF info still contains fields named "Latitude" and "Longitude" with the same data as shown in iPhoto, but Flickr can't put the photo in the right place on the map.

  • How can I change the geo tag of an image in iPhoto '11?

A lot of my old photos either have no geo tag, or have incorrect tags (apparently I took some pictures in the middle of the Yellow Sea).
So, how do I change or at least erase the geo tag for one or more photos?  I've tried "Rescan Location" and nothing happens.

And did you look at iPhoto help on adding places?
    Add places to your photos
If you have photos that don’t have GPS information, including print photos that were scanned to a disk, you can still map your photos in Places.
    https://help.apple.com/iphoto/mac/help/index.html?lang=en#
Watch the movie (about 2 minutes)
View and organize photos using Places
iPhoto matches recognizable location names you enter, such as “Seattle” or “Milan,” to a mapping database. When you add a location to a single photo or an entire Event, those photos are marked on the Places map.
Or, if you have latitude and longitude information for the place where you shot your photos, you can use that information to add the location.
Important:  You must be connected to the Internet for the Places feature to show photo locations on the map.
    Hide
    To add a place name:
Select the photo or Event you want to add location information to.Tip:  If you select an Event, the location is added to every photo in that Event. But you can add locations to selected photos without adding locations to them all. To do so, select the photos you want, move your pointer over them, and then click the Info button. Skip to step 3.
Click the Info button in the toolbar to open the Information pane.
Select “Assign a Place” and start typing the location name to see the related names iPhoto suggests. You can type city names, place names (such as “Empire State Building”), and addresses (such as “12345 Main St., Lincoln, NE”).Note:  If no locations appear, check to make sure that iPhoto is set to look up locations.
As related names appear, do one of the following:
If you see the location you want appear in the pop-up menu, choose it. iPhoto marks your selected location with a red marker pin on the map in the Information pane.
If you don’t see the exact location you want in the pop-up menu, choose a location that’s nearby. For example, if you took a photo of a star at Mann’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, you can type “Hollywood” into the location field and then choose the Hollywood, California, option from the pop-up menu. Then go to step 5.A red marker pin appears in the map in the Information pane.
To fine-tune the location, you can click the marker pin (it turns yellow) and drag it to a different location, such as a neighboring town, or a more specific location, such as a particular intersection. You can click the plus and minus buttons to zoom in or out, and drag the map to show a different area.To center the map on the pin, click the circle icon.Note:  You can move marker pins only in the small map that appears below Places in the Information pane. You can’t drag marker pins on the full-size Places map.
When you’re satisfied with the location as it appears in the Information pane, click the arrow next to the location name to view the marker on the full Places map.
HideTo use latitude and longitude to add a place:
Select the photo or Event you want to add location information to.Tip:  If you select an Event, the location is added to every photo in that Event. But you can add locations to selected photos without adding locations to them all. To do so, select the photos you want, move your pointer over them, and then click the Info button. Skip to step 3.
Click the Info button to open the Information pane.
Select “Assign a Place,” and then type the latitude and longitude, separated by a comma. For example, you can type “24, -110” or, if you prefer, you can use a longer format, such as “24.15988731, -110.50838234.”It’s important to always put the latitude first.
Look at the map to confirm the location, and then do one of the following:
If the location is correct, continue to step 5.
If the location is incorrect, retype the latitude and longitude, or drag the pin to a more exact location on the map.You can use the plus and minus buttons to zoom in and out, and drag the map to center it on a better spot.Note:  You can move marker pins only in the small map that appears below Places in the Information pane. You can’t drag marker pins on the full-size Places map.
If you want, you can view the location marked on the full Places map by clicking the arrow next to the location name.
HideTo copy the location of one photo to other photos:You can copy the location of one photo to another photo or photos.
Select a photo that has the location assigned to it that you want to copy, and then choose Edit > Copy.
Select one or more photos that you want to assign the same location to, and choose Edit > Paste Location. The location is added to the photos, which you can then view using Places.

  • ITunes not writing tag info to file

Recently iTunes hasn't been writing the tag info to the mp3 files when I import a new cd. I've never had a problem with this until recently.
I'm using iTunes 6.0.5 on a Intel Mini 1.66 with OS 10.4.6. When I insert a new disc it shows the proper track, artist, album, etc info. It titles the tracks correctly and puts them in my iTunes library correctly. However, when I check the tag info in MediaRage it shows nothing! I don't think it's a problem with MediaRage because I tried to import the cds on my Powerbook and they import fine.
I discovered this when I recently needed to reformat my music harddrive. When I copied the files back into iTunes a bunch of tracks came up as unknown artist and album. When I checked them furhter I found they were the last 6 or 7 cds I had imported. So they went into iTunes initially with the correct info, but the tag info hadn't been written, so when I reimported them iTunes organized them into the unknown folder.
I've been able to work around this by using the convert id3 tags command immediately after importing a new cd. Then all the info shows up correctly in MediaRage. But I shouldn't have to do this extra step! I've updated to the latest version of iTunes in case the last version was corrupted somehow. That didn't help. I've looked for the iTunes preferences file but can't find it.
So sorry for the long ramble but I've searched everywhere and can't find a solution or even anyone else mentioning this problem.
    HELP!

G4 Titanium Powerbook, Intel Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   ext WD 320gb

It's difficult to say what's causing this problem, although at this moment in time there still seem to be a lot of bugs with various software when running on Intel-based Macs.
Unfortunately, for some odd reason, iTunes writes ID3 v. 2.2 tags by default rather than the more acceptable v. 2.3 (or even 2.4). You might try ripping your CDs with Max using the provided (LAME) MP3 encoder. You should get more accurate rips to start with (using the paranoia ripper), and the highest qualtiy MP3s using the superior LAME encoder. Your files will have ID3 v. 2.4 tags written to them. You can also configure Max, in its preferences, to add files directly to your iTunes library upon encoding for perfect integration with iTunes. Hopefully this will work well for you and your files will retain their metadata.

  • Recovery from crashed drive - PSe3 files with tag info?

    Hi,
I've had a crashed hard drive which I cannot now boot from. So without being able to reboot, I can't start PSE3 and view the photos and the tags in the organiser.
I do have one back up but it was done some time ago and, since then, I've added quite a few more pix. (Clearly I need to back up more frequently, but that's for the future. At the moment, I'd just like to get back any of the tags so painstakingly put in over the last couple of months.)
I can view the partition that carried the OS (WinXP sp 2) and would like, if possible, to salvage the tag files from the PSe3 installation. (The photos themselves I've been able to copy out of the damaged hard drive.)
    - Can anyone direct me to the folder or file in the original PSE3 installation that would contain the tag information for the photos logged in the Organiser?
    - Also, is it as simple as reinstalling the programme and then copying this file/folder into the new root folder to 'get back' all the tag info?
Any help (or alternative suggestions) would be welcome.

    >- Can anyone direct me to the folder or file in the original PSE3 installation that would contain the tag information for the photos logged in the Organiser?
    XP -- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Catalogs
The catalog file itself is a .psa file.
The default catalog name is My Catalog.psa
    Also look at
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Catalog Folders
Under that structure there will be a subfolder with the name of your catalog (the default being "My Catalog" without the quotes). It contains those thumbnails that you see in the Photo Well of the PSE Organizer plus other control files.
Note that you must set the "Folder Options" to view Hidden Files in order to see these folder structures: this can be done either from Control Panel or from the Tools menu of Windows Explorer.
    >- Also, is it as simple as reinstalling the programme and then copying this file/folder into the new root folder to 'get back' all the tag info?
Probably yes. People have done this over the years since PS Elements version 3 was released.
1 -- I woud first try copying over the .psa file AND its associated folder under "Catalog Folders".
2 -- Copying over the Catalog Folders subfoder does have more risk of failing because of configuration differences. So if number 1 does not work, then I would delete the folder under Catalog Folders on your new drive - then try again with just the copied over .psa file placed in that Catalogs folder. Wtih this approach you will have the tags but you will need to recreate the thumbnails displayed in the Photowell of the PSE Organzer.
Note that having correct pointers to the photos from the Catalog does depend on having the same Windows drive letter assigned to the disk containing the photo files: if you only have a C drive then that should be OK (otherwise you do need to verify drive letter assignments).

  • IPhoto 11 is moving my geo tagged photos

iPhoto has been moving my geo tagged photos to the wrong place, sometimes it is just moving a few of them to a different town a few miles away but after opening it today it moved about 60 pictures taken in Maui to somewhere in Idaho. Is anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?  I'm getting tired of having to move my photos back to where they were taken as it is not very easy anymore with the newest version of iPhoto.

Sorry but I do not understand your question
As to importing iPhoto simply copies the photos to the iPhoto llibrary - no changes of any sort are made

  • Photo Geo tags are not being used by Places

I have been importing photos into iPhoto with valid geo tags and none of the photos are being shown on the Places map.
When I initially starting using iPhoto I imported some pictures from my iPhone and realised that the pictures were identified on the Places maps automatically, since I have added photos and manually edited the location information directly in Places.
If I import pictures from my iPhone they are not entered into Places and if you check all the location information is blank, if you look at the extended information you can see all the correct GPS information...
    I'm confused..

in your iPhoto preferences is look up places set to "Automatically"? The default is "never" and it must be changed to "automatically" to work.

  • How do you display ID3 tag info?

Does anyone know how to display detailed id3 tag info for a song that is playing? I'm looking for a display of the bitrate, genre, file size, track number, etc. I've tried pressing the center button a few times as suggested by the manual, but it doesn't do anything but change the progress bar.

Thanks. I didn't think it was possible to see the extra ID3 tag info, but it doesn't hurt to check since I'm new to iPod.
My old archos jukebox allowed ANY id3 tag info to be displayed and in any manner I chose. I'll miss that.
However, the album art display is nice, which the archos doesn't have.

    > Out of curiosity how
    do most SE's locate sites/info?
By using links from other sites, or domains that have been
    submitted to
them. The former method is MUCH faster than the latter. If I
    put a link to
a client site on my site, it's spidered in days/or a few
    weeks at most.

    template file and
    > resaving, which also draws a blank. I've wracked my tiny
    brain...
Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes
    not propagating
    from Template to child -
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
7, Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the
    template,
adding page specific content, and resaving the template with
    an *.html
extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if
    this is the case
by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything
    like <!--
TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done)
The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced >
    Recreate Site
Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing
    them. Have you
    done any of those?

  • How do I view my pics on a screen sized map based on geo tag like I could in iPhoto?

In iPhoto I was able to view an entire Event or album on a map with pins showing where each of the pics was geo tagged.  In Photos now all I can view is a very small 2 inch square map.  Is it possible to view a grouping of pics in Photos but on a large screen size map?  Do I need an additional app to do this?

    You still can (kind of).
If you open the Photos app and you are in Albums, tap Photos. In Photos, pictures are auto-grouped as Events based on location and date. If you see the location listed, that is tappable. Tap it, and that reveals the map where the photos were taken.
The one thing I don't know is how to see all photos by location. Because the most you can zoom out by time is Years, which means you can only see all photos taken by location within a single year, but not all years. I hope there's a way that I just haven't learned yet.
