A simple way to get the computer name on the Windows platform in client/server mode is
tool_env.getvar('COMPUTERNAME', l_str);
The similar technic should be possible on other platforms.
Another possibility is to use the database session information:
select sys_context('userenv', 'host'), sys_context('userenv', 'ip_address') from dual;
I suppose this will give the name and address of the application server in web-mode.

request.getRemoteUser usually gives the user name if the Authentication header is present and in case the user is authenticated via http authentication based mechanism.. when you want the ip address of a machine try the methods in socket.
Something like this,
InetAddress ia=<socketobject>.getInetAddress();
String str=ia.getCanonicalHostName();

Get and then Move ( Computer name )

One of the nice people here helped me with Powershell script ,
My goal is Get from Specific OU computer names like ISR and TLV and then move them to Another OU ,
This is my Script :
Get-ADComputer -SearchBase "CN=Computers,DC=XXX,DC=com" -Filter {(Name -Like "ISR*") -And
(Name -Like "TLV*")} | Move-ADObject -TargetPath "OU=xxx-Computers,DC=XXX,DC=com"
I get error that " GetADcomputer is not recognized as the name of a CMDlet:

File sharing afp:// address not computer name

Just setting up my new iMac and the file sharing afp:// address does not match the computer's name (Brute Squad), it's pulled in my old PowerBook's name (Alumen). I'm assuming it came from my Apple/iCloud account since that was the only computer I had registered when I set the iMac up. Restarting didn't help. Any ideas?

You can change the computer name in the System Preferences > Sharing pane, change the name at the top.

Datasocket change ip address to computer name

Hi,
When I write data on the network, the IP address appears inplace of the computer name. I would like to have it where the computer names appears instead of the IP address. When the URL is dstp://computername/channelname . But on the data server the IP address appears and no computer name.
Any suggestions....

How can I konw , Which computer name or IP Address make SAP User lock

I have one issues about SAP user lock,
Now I don't know which computer name or IP Address make user lock.
How can I check it or Can you tell me about the table that keep information about the ip address or computer name?
I can see the computer name when I use t-code al08 or sm04.
But I don't know the table that keep data from this t-code.
Pls suggest me for this issue.

If you double click on the message "User XXXXX locked due to incorrect logon"
You'll see under details the name of the terminal
Terminal............ XXXXXXXXXXX
for IP address just ping the terminal.

I grasp that you are having an issue with your switchable graphics and HP support referred you to a bios update.
You can run the HP Support Assistant to aid with HP updates. Here is a link to the HP ENVY dv6-7300sp Notebook PC Drivers where there is a bios update if it has not been done previously. Updating the BIOS. As a bios update does have the potential to cause damage, I suggest contacting HP support for assistance.
As you do have switchable graphics I believe this document is the one you require, It will help you configure your graphics.

Ip address of computer I made a call

Is it possible to get IP address of computer from wich was made a call
...someone made 33 calls from my account, so I need to see is it someone who I know, from my neighborhood... or it is just someone who hack my acc.
I use Nod32 and Malwarebytes... and my comp is clean ( and was clean when the calls was made )

In terminal you could try the arp command 'arp -a' would give a list of names to IP addresses in the arp cache but only on the same network subnet, if you are on a large network that probably would not work.
Again if you are on a large network I would expect the DNS to be working correctly so you could try the 'dig' command.

Computer Name With Number

I was a beta tester of Yosemite and recently updated to retail. This happened while I was a beta tester and I thought it would go away, but it hasn't. My computer name is being followed by a (#) that continues to increase for no reason (e.g. (1), (2), (3), etc.) - any ideas?

I'm having the same issue with my iMac (early 2008) and MacBook Pro (2010). It's very weird, both machines insist on appending numbers in parentheses to the end of the Computer name: in the Sharing preference panel. However the name given beneath that in the message "Computers on your local network can access your computer at: <computer-name>.local" does not include the number, just the normal hostname.local. Also, using hostname command in terminal returns the regular <computer-name>.local without a number.
If I remove the (n) at the end of the Computer name: field it only lasts a few seconds before changing back to a number (though the number is not always the same as before, sometimes it goes to (2) or (3) rather than the (4) it was originally.
If I open a Finder window with the sidebar showing I see under Devices an entry for "<computer-name> (4)" and under Shared it shows:
<computer-name>
<computer-name> (2)
<computer-name> (3)
I have screen and file sharing enabled, I tried switching them off and on again, I've tried rebooting, nothing seems to stop it appending the number and I can't get rid of the <computer-name> (2) and <computer-name> (3) entries under Shared either.

Get Network Computer name from IP address

On a windows machine I want to be able to get the computer name if I know the IP. I have a VI that will return the MAC Address which is useful since my wireless access point does not have a static IP, I can search for the MAC Address to find it and then access it, but would like to add the feature of returning the computer name.. How can I do this?

on your computer... the STR IP function has Multiple Outputs enabled to
produce an array.
If you wanted to find the computer name of another computer you could
feed the IP address string "x.x.x.x" to the STR IP function.

How can I get the address book to sort by "Last" name (using v 31.3.0).

After a computer crash, I had to load Thunderbird (v31.3.0) back into my machine running Windows 8.1, and I successfully imported my address book back up file into Thunderbird (v31.3.0).
My problem is that I don't see an option to sort the address book by "Last" name, which was available with the version of Thunderbird I had before the crash.
How can I get the address book to sort by "Last" name?

In 'Address Book'
Select address book
'View' > 'Show name as' > 'Last/First'
The you can sort by Name.
Either click on 'Name' column header to change sort order,
If reversed, then click on 'Name' column header again to reverse the order.
Or
'View' > 'Sort By' > choose 'Name' and 'Ascending'
