Datasocket change ip address to computer name
Hi,
When I write data on the network, the IP address appears inplace of the computer name. I would like to have it where the computer names appears instead of the IP address. When the URL is dstp://computername/channelname . But on the data server the IP address appears and no computer name.
Any suggestions....

Attached is an example of what I'd like to see on the Datasocket Diagonistic. The funny part is that I am using the computer name for the URL of the datasocket read & write.

tool_env.getvar('COMPUTERNAME', l_str);
The similar technic should be possible on other platforms.
Another possibility is to use the database session information:
select sys_context('userenv', 'host'), sys_context('userenv', 'ip_address') from dual;
I suppose this will give the name and address of the application server in web-mode. -
File sharing afp:// address not computer name
Just setting up my new iMac and the file sharing afp:// address does not match the computer's name (Brute Squad), it's pulled in my old PowerBook's name (Alumen). I'm assuming it came from my Apple/iCloud account since that was the only computer I had registered when I set the iMac up. Restarting didn't help. Any ideas?
You can change the computer name in the System Preferences > Sharing pane, change the name at the top.

Can I change the public hostname in my Oracle Database 10g Cluster using Oracle Clusterware?
Hostname changes are not supported in Oracle Clusterware (CRS), unless you want to perform a deletenode followed by a new addnode operation.
The hostname is used to store among other things the flag files and Oracle Clusterware stack will not start if hostname is changed.
Changing the Private Interconnect
o Change of the IP Address: change the IP address in the hosts file and/or DNS and make sure that ASM and the database also use the same interconnect
o Change of the private node name used by Oracle Clusterware: requires a reinstall of Oracle Clusterware
So, Public or Private hostnames can only be changed by removing/adding nodes, or reinstalling Oracle Clusterware. VIP Hostnames can be changed

Changing 'main' user and computer name
Hi everybody!
I got an older iBook from my sis. I'm trying to remove her stuff and clean it up a bit for my use. Is there a way to change the main user account so the computer isn't in her name anymore? I tried creating a new admin account, but I can't delete the first account. Also I can't change the computer name on the main log in screen. Any suggestions?
I was thinking about bringing it in to a store. I'm sure they can do it quick fast in a hurry.

You need to log out and log back in with the new account in order to delete the old one.
(It really isn't necessary to delete the other account unless you need the hard drive space. You can simply choose to have it automatically log in to your account and not the old one.)
To change the computer's name go to System Preferences > Sharing and change the computer's name there. -

this jsp will be accessed when the remote user clicks a link from a normal web page...request.getRemoteUser usually gives the user name if the Authentication header is present and in case the user is authenticated via http authentication based mechanism.. when you want the ip address of a machine try the methods in socket.
Something like this,
InetAddress ia=<socketobject>.getInetAddress();
String str=ia.getCanonicalHostName();

If you double click on the message "User XXXXX locked due to incorrect logon"
You'll see under details the name of the terminal
Terminal............ XXXXXXXXXXX
for IP address just ping the terminal.

Computer Name changed to MINWINPC
We have about 200 computers that show their computer name as "MINWINPC". Doing an "ipconfig /all" shows the original computer name but doing a "net user" shows the computer name as "MINWINPC". In the control panel applet - the original computer shows but
the registry key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName\ComputerName shows as "MINWINPC". Users can still access the network but administrators are unable to remotely access those machines. The fix appears to be as simple as changing the registry
key back to the original computer name(and rebooting) but I would like to figure out what is causing the issue. Some of the machines seem to have the name change occur after they have received the latest round of patches from Microsoft after the reboot.
It is not happening to all our Vista machines. I have changed the computer name back the original, uninstalled all updates from the day of the name change and resintalled the patches but have been unsuccessful in recreating the problem. Any thoughts?I know this is an old thread but a new patch is causing the same issue MS13-098. The only Microsoft submission I have found is in Japanese and is translated as follows:

I grasp that you are having an issue with your switchable graphics and HP support referred you to a bios update.
You can run the HP Support Assistant to aid with HP updates. Here is a link to the HP ENVY dv6-7300sp Notebook PC Drivers where there is a bios update if it has not been done previously. Updating the BIOS. As a bios update does have the potential to cause damage, I suggest contacting HP support for assistance.
As you do have switchable graphics I believe this document is the one you require, It will help you configure your graphics.

DimaxumThe Computer Name is set in Sharing preferences so check that. Your computer's name is technically going to consist of the extension ".local." Perhaps this is a issue with the particular screensaver.

thank youIf it's 3.1 just change them, shouldn't cause any issues if by domain name you are referring to changing the domain the computer belongs to. If you are changing your domain for AD authentication then you will may have to take quite a few steps if the old domain is going away. Let us know.

I changed the Computer Name and i can not run EM.
I had to change the computer name in order to connect to the intranet.
I updated the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora with the new computer name.
I can run SqlPlus but i can not run EM on http://tahirpc.isu.intranet:1158/em *
I checked Services and I saw that OracleDBConsoleorcl service do not work. I get error code:2 when i try to run it manually.
What should i do?
New computer name: tahirpc.isu.intranet
Old computer name: mtkeskin.isu.intranet
OS: Win 7

My computer name changed unexpectedly
Today, at exactly 14:22:56, the name of my computer changed unexpectedly with a strange name :
$ hostname
p20-keyvalueservice.icloud.com.akadns.net
I had to reboot to revert the name back to what it was.
From the system.log file:
