Get ip client is connecting to?
Hi!
I've a problem, i want to get the ip the client is using to connect to my server (i'm behind a router).
For example: A client is connecting to my server on network (ip: 192.168.2.3)
Server says: You're connecting to ip 192.168.2.3
A client is connecting to my server on Internet (ip: 84.xx.xx.xx)
Server says: You're connecting to ip 84.xx.xx.xx.
(I don't want to fetch the public ip from whatsmyip.org)
Thanks in advance

To bad =/ thanks for your help!Well itz not tht bad if you think of employing a signed applet which still makes things possible for us.
You can think of implementing something similar as stated below.
Sample Signed Applet:
=====================
public class ClientApplet extends JApplet{
protected ParamBean pb;
static protected class ParamBean implementes java.io.Serializable{
private String sessionId = "";
private String servletUrl = "";
private String redirectTo = "";
/** Setters & Getters for the respective fields*/
public void init (){
pb = new ParamBean();
pb.setSessionId(this.getParameter("SESSION_ID"));
pb.setServletUrl(this.getParameter("SERVLET_URL"));
pb.setRedirectTo(this.getParameter("REDIRECT_TO"));
public void paint(Graphics gr){
setBackground(Color.white);
int cde = this.sendDetails();
if(cde == 200)
this.dispatchApplet();
else{
gr.drawString("Cannot Pass On the details",25, 30);
protected int sendDetails(){
int code = -1;
URL servletUrl = null;
HttpURLConnection urlConnection = null;
try{
StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
sb.append(pb.getServletUrl());
sb.append(";jsessionid=");
sb.append(pb.getSessionId());
sb.append("?clientIp=");
sb.append(InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostAddress());
servletUrl = new URL(sb.toString());
urlConnection = (HttpURLConnection) servletUrl.openConnection();
urlConnection.setRequestMethod("GET");
urlConnection.connect();
code = huc.getResponseCode();
urlConnection.disconnect();
}catch(Exception exp){
return code;
protected void dispatchApplet(){
try{
StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
sb.append(pb.getRedirectTo());
sb.append(";jsessionid=");
sb.append(pb.getSessionId());
getAppletContext().showDocument(new URL(sb.toString()));
}catch(Exception exp){
}Parent JSP Page :
=================
<jsp:plugin type=applet code="ClientApplet.class" codebase="/html">
<jsp:params>
<jsp:param name="SESSION_ID" value="<%=session.getId()%>"/>
<jsp:param name="SERVLET_URL" value="http://www.xyz.com/requestAction.do"/>
<jsp:param name="REDIRECT_TO" value="http://www.xyz.com/redirect.do"/>
</jsp:params>
<jsp:fallback>
<p>Unable to load login module</p>
</jsp:fallback>
</jsp:plugin>
-------------------------------now we can write our application code in such a way that "requestAction.do" can get ipaddress by request parameter clientIp
and can scope that within the scope of the HttpSession and use it until the end of user's session.
All you need to make sure is the Client installs this signed applet in his machine while accessing in your application.
Hope the that helps :)

Can't get AE clients to connect to internet-Plz help me!
I've had a home with router, wired mac's and pc's, and apple laptops for years with no problems. I removed old router and installed AE base station. I can connect to the Base Station via internet and wireless, but can't get past it to the net. I'm out of ideas.
My DSL modem from Sprint is a Prestige 660ME-61, with an address of 192.168.2.1. My "test" G5 desktop has an IP address of 192.168.1.23, subnet 255.255.255.0 and Router ip of 192.168.1.254 - as shown in system pref/network/built in ethernet configuration. This works fine with old pbx/router. I tried looking at my PBX/router settings and they use different terminology.
The AE auto setup didn't work, and I noticed it had set an ip address of 10.0.1.1 for the Base Station. I changed that to 192.168.1.x in the manual setup mode of DHCP. That generated starting and ending addresses of 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.200. On the Internet Connection tab, it shows IP address of 192.168.2.2, Router address of 192.168.2.254, and the DNS address from Sprint. With these paramters, I get something like "no connection to the internet" when I try to connect.
It seemed to me that I should set the router to be on the same 192.168.1.x addresses that DHCP is handing out, but when I try to change the Rounter Address to 192.168.1.254, I get a message saying that rounter address is not compatible with the lan address..
I'v worked with computers and networking for a long, long time, but I am at wits end - maybe it was the chemo! I would very much appreciate some very smart person telling me which simple setting to change to make it work! And yes, the DSL modem is plugged into the WAN port on the AE. Some of you might wonder how I'm sending this. The answer is I went back to my pre-AE configuration.
Thanks in advance!
RandyDid you happen to allow enough time for a power recycle when switching the router connected to your DSL modem?
Modem/Router Power ReCycling
- Power-off the DSL/Cable modem, Internet Router, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
- Power-on the DSL/Cable modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
- Power-on the Internet Router; Wait at least 5 minutes.
- Power-on the computer(s) -
Get DHCP clients list connected to DHCP allocator on WEC7
Hi All,
I Configured WEC7 Device as DHCP Allocator and is working fine.
I am able to see the connected DHCP clients information in Registry under ConnectionSharing/Addresses.
But for my application development I don't want to read the registry all the time to get updates of connected clients.
Are there any other options (API) available to read connected clients info (IP, MAC, Client Name etc).
And if i can register to some services for client connection status change notifications would be better.
Do you suggest any better ways to get clients info other than reading registry?
Thanks in Advance.
rakeshThanks Bruce,
Yes I can use your recommendation for getting clients list.
Do you recommend any third party DHCP server apps for WEC7 as I am getting some problems with DHCP allocator.
as mentioned here:
1. https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a1b7eaae-48c6-4704-ae3a-d48db5cdb7b6/wec7-dhcp-allocator-not-sending-ack-for-a-dhcp-client?forum=winembplatdev.
2. also DHCP allocator will stops once it finds a real DHCP Server on the network as per MS documents.

WLC 4402 Multiple clients can connect to AP but only one gets an IP
I have a 4402 which is connected to a 4506 Switch int Gig 3/1 via a trunk port. The Managment and AP-manger interfaces are on vlan 6
interface GigabitEthernet3/1
description Trunk Port to WLC
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 2-6
switchport mode trunk
end
I have a 1142N AP also connected to the switch and it pulls a DHCP IP Address and configs etc and registers to the WLC. It too is on Vlan 6 and it is connected to the 4506 on int gig 4/33 which is an access port.
interface GigabitEthernet4/33
description Access port to Cisco LAP 1142
switchport access vlan 6
switchport mode access
end
My router is my dhcp server;
ip dhcp pool wlanmantraffic
network 10.6.0.0 255.255.255.0
default-router 10.6.0.1
dns-server 66.109.38.250 10.7.0.8

interface FastEthernet0/1.6
description Vlan6

ip address 10.6.0.1 255.255.255.0
no ip redirects
no ip unreachables
no ip proxy-arp
ip nat inside
ip virtual-reassembly
I am doing local authentication, so i have added users to the WLC
My problem is that the first client that connected was able to get an IP address and connect to anything internal and external.
I then connected another client on another laptop and that client could connect but not get an IP address, it just self assigned.
When i look at the clients i can see the MAC address of both Clients on the WLC, but doing a show mac address-table dynamic i only see the MAC of the client that works properly. The client that doesnt get an IP has no entry in the 4506 switch.
I am stumped, from what I understand, is that the 2nd clients traffic is being trunked to the WLC , hence it has the MAC address. But I dont know why its not getting a DHCP assigned IP address.
Thanks in advance for your help.Here is some of the WLC config,

Hi
For the working RDP server console we are getting the below PDU types only.
// PDU Types
RDP_PDU_DEMAND_ACTIVE = 1
RDP_PDU_CONFIRM_ACTIVE = 3
RDP_PDU_DEACTIVATE = 6
RDP_PDU_DATA = 7
Null PDU type = 0
Where as for some windows 2003 servers getting "unimplemented type in main loop 13" instead of above mentioned PDU types.
Could you please provide when we get this other PDU types ?
Thanks & Regards,
Pavan GHello Pavan -
I'll help you with this inquiry. By setting minencryptionlevel = 0 on server, are you able to get server->client unencrypted PDUs in network trace ? If yes, please send me the same by dropping a mail to dochelp @ Microsoft dot com.
Thanks.

Windows 7 Pro Client loses connectivity to internal Win2k8 web server
1. affected workstation are Optiplex 380 running Win 7 pro sp1 with broadcom NICs.
2. Internal users use a internal webserver for customer invoicing application. Users lose connectivity to this internal web server, all other networking works, network shares, internet, etc. If I try to ping the webserver IP I get no reply. XP
machines are not affected. Not a DHCP issue as there are plenty of IPs.
3. I have tried different internal NICs (3com) but still had issue. I have upgraded BIOS, nic drivers. etc.
4. I rebuilt one of the machines using Windows XP pro sp3 and have had no issue with that workstation.
the problem started a few months or so ago. I have not been able to determine the source. I tried running wireshark but nothing stuck out. I have changed the session settings on the IIS server from 15 minutes to 6 hours but did not make a difference.
5. Today when client lost connectivity to the server I tried pinging from the server back to the client and the connection was restored. This issue really has me confused as I cannot find anything in the logs that sticks out.Hello,
Thank you for your question.
I am trying to involve someone familiar with this topic to further look at this issue. There might be some time delay. Appreciate your patience.
Thank you for your understanding and support. -
Can I determine what clients are connected to my weblogic server?
Hi, is there anyway of determining what clients are connected to my Weblogic 8.1 server - I want this information to be generated for me, not by maintaining a list when clients login initially to the server.
Also is there any thing that gets fired when a client terminates prematurely - for example being killed by the task manager. I need to know this, so the server knows what users are currently logged in, to prevent a user logging in twice (via the same username login).
Cheers,
Ants.Hi,
Cousld u send me a simple example to check my Weblogic server for EJB with client.
Iam struggling from last todays.
and also tell what software i should use for deployment of EJB of weblogic 8.1.

How to find out what server the outlook client is connected to/change it automatically
Hi,
I am performing a server migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2010 (the previous installation was installed by an outsourced provider and is rubbish so I'm configuring it properly). On the of things the existing server lacks is a CAS array configured,
so I have built the new Exchange 2010 server, configured a new DB and CASArray. I have created a brand new mailbox for a new user and the user's outlook shows it is connected to casarray.domain.local, I have migrated my own mailbox but internally my outlook
shows it is connected to oldserver.domain.local (under the account settings when you go to change the settings for the account), this is on a domain joined internal desktop. But at home on my personal laptop non-domain joined, it has appeared to reflect the
new casarray.domain.local. The outlook client is 2007 in both situations.
When I run the following command, it shows my mailbox is indeed connected to the new exchange server, but this is not true in outlook
Get-LogonStatistics -Server "new-exch2010" | where {$_.clientname -eq "new-exch2010"}| ft username,servername,clientname
If I run the above command against the old server my name shows on that list as well. When I look at the connection status of my outlook it shows that it is connected to casarray for directory, but the old server for mail.
A couple of other things:
Mailflow is now going to the new exchange server from the gateway over port 25, the autodiscover record in the internal DNS is now also pointing to the new exchange server, outlook clients and users computers have been completely restarted but still don’t
seem to pick up the new settings, both the old server and new server functions as a multi-role exchange having the Hub, CAS and MBX roles.
Now that you have all that background info my question is two parts:
What is the correct powershell command I can run on the exchange server to ensure that all my outlook clients are connected to the new exchange server for all connection types (or identify those which are connected against the old server)?
How do I get the outlook clients to automatically pick up the casarray servername once their mailboxes have been migrated?
I am considering removing the CAS from the old server which may force outlook to find it’s new server but am unsure whether this will work or not, and I think I should migrate all the mailboxes into the new DB before I do this.
Other than that, I am out of ideas.
Appreciate, any help. Thanks
SteveI had already run the command Get-MailboxDatabase | FL Identity,RpcClientAccessServer
and it only identified the old database as being tied to the server name, the new database has the correct casarray and all mailboxes are in this new database. should I also set the old database to point to my casarray as the second command indicates? can't
do any harm right?
also, I have outlook 2007 and 2013 at home and both of them had automatically reconfigured
themselves to point to casarray, my problem is with the internal clients.
today I have also noticed in DNS there is a Zone which points to autodiscover.domain.co.uk
and in there it points to my old server.
a few things to note about the above:
1. the zone is pointing to the .co.uk domain not the .local - is this correct?
2. should that zone even be in our internal DNS, i hadn't noticed on previous implementation
of Exchange I have done
3. if i change the record within that zone to point to my new server, will this likely show
up the popup message shown in this link http://www.rackspace.com/apps/support/portal/1218 I havent yet got a certificate for the new exchange server (few more days) and i dont want users seeing any kind of untrusted unsecure connection box or it
will only lead to panic and flooding the helpdesk
many thanks

Exchange 2013 - Prevent Outlook Clients From Connecting To A CAS Server In A Different AD Site
Hi all,
I could really do with your help!
We have 3 physical sites, A, B & C, with sites A & B having a really fast low latency links between them, so from an AD point of view they are 1 site. Site C has links to both sites A & B, but the link is a lot slower.
We have an exchange design with 3 servers (one located at each physical site) that will form a DAG spread over the 3 physical sites. Ideally we will separate the CAS and mailbox server roles out and have them controlled by a hardware load balancer,
however we can have both roles on the same server if required.
What we want, is to prevent is a situation where an outlook client in site C connects to a CAS server in site A/B with the mail being hosted on a mailbox server in site C therefore traversing the network twice to get its mail.
From doing the Microsoft training course, my understanding is that in Exchange 2013, the CAS server only proxy's the request on to the mailbox server and does not redirect the request to the CAS server in the site where the mailbox server resides.
I have seen information online stating that a single namespace is the way to go as long as your site links/network bandwidth is good, but nothing to help with our scenario.
Has anyone else come across this situation and how did you get round it?
Thanks in advance :)Hi Johnson,
Based on my knowledge, Outlook Client will connect to the CAS server which in local first.
Please check whether the CAS server that in site C is healthy.
If the CAS server in site C is healthy, please disable the CAS Load Balance for testing.

Can't get ethernet bridge to connect to network
Hi
I am trying to connect my old iMac G3 (10.2) to my airport express network with an Aeropad Mini (an ethernet bridge powered by USB hub on my mac - made by Macsense).
The network is seen successfully by an iMac G5, an Intel Macbook and a PC. The connection occasionally works but more often than not it does not see my airport express - instead it connects to a self-assigned IP. Sometimes it connects then drops off halfway through. Other times it just will not connect at all.
There are no drivers and you set it up via your browser. I can connect to the status and set-up page (192.168.1.50), after entering all the Aeropad info manually, and most times it can see my Airport Express (via the Site Survey on the set-up pages). but sometimes it does not even get that far. I reset the aeropad and restart the mac many times, and sometimes it works but mostly it doesn't.
I'm using channel 11 and it's WAP-encrypted.
Things I've tried:
updating the firmware from the macsense website
checking it's on client mode
manually entering the DNS address of my router - 10.0.1.1.
Trashing the internetconfig preferences from the library
making sure that ethernet is at the top of my network port configurations
Plugging it into a powered USB hub
Trying it on my MacBook (running Leopard).
Still can't connect - just a self-assigned IP - even on on the new macbook.
Any help would be appreciated as I really can't get this to work and it's beginning to take over my life!. I thought it was working after I entered the DNS address but it just went down again the next day.
Thanks.

Problem:
If you're able to see other wireless networks but not your own. (And it works with AppleTV version 1.x)
It can be any of the following:
1. No wireless signal/out of range (check your multicast setting and put this as low as possible, check the range with other wireless devices/moving your appletv closer)
2. The wireless SSID is set to invisible/private (use "Other" on AppleTV and enter the SSID manually.)
3. The AppleTV doesn't support the channel used. (Tune the wireless to use a lower channel such as those under 10.)
4. The AppleTV is not supporting the security of your encryption.
Troubleshooting:
1. First try setting up a basic wireless network with no security, no frills such as a high multicast rate or high channel number and as a basic wireless b or g network. Position the AppleTV next to the basestation and then attempt to make the appletv connect to it. (Do not use an AdHoc network with your mac, as the AppleTV doesn't see these.) At this stage you're just trying to see if the AppleTV is even able to connect to your hardware. If this doesn't work there is possibly a larger problem at hand.
2. If this works, then move the devices to their desired locations. (This checks that it's not a range/interference issue.)
3. If this is still working, then the problem lays in a configuration setting. Firstly enable a security protocol, avoid WEP. Keep adding settings, keeping changes from the default to a minimum.
If you can't get past step 1, then it could be an issue with your wifi base station. Try getting the AppleTV to connect to a different wireless basestation (perhaps borrow one from a friend or a neighbour's unsecured network.) -
Can't get Quick VPN to connect to my Cisco 120w
For the life of me I can’t get my quick VPN client to connect to my Cisco 120w. I have IPSec gateway to gateway setup and working just fine. I made my quick vpn client under vpn tab. I enabled remote management. Every time I try to connect I get the failed to establish connection. Using the same quick VPN software I can connect to a rv082 with no trouble. Can anyone help me with this?
Thank you for your time

Can't get Guest clients to associate
Hi All,
This seems to have happened after upgrading to v7: I've a test guest SSID that my test client PC cannot connect to as it seems to immediately try to associate with the corporate secure SSID. The foreign controller debug showed a line that said something to the effect of "deleting client as SSID has changed" (I was not able to capture this unfortunately and I have not spotted it again), and it then goes on to produce debug outputs as it tries to connect to the corporte SSID. The anchor controller for the guest SSID does not seem to have the traffic passed to it.
Any suggestions?
Many Thanks
ScottHi Scott,
Would you mind capturing the following from both the foreign, and anchor WLCs:

Is the anchor WLC acting as the DHCP server? If so, you may be hitting the following:

CSCth68708 Clients are unableto get a DHCP offer from WLC internal DHCP scope

The debug client output will allow you to see if the client is obtaining an IP address as expected, and whether or not the Guest traffic is being tunneled properly to the anchor. If you're finding that the test client continually connects to your corporate WLAN, I would recommend removing all profiles but the Guest WLAN to ensure you're not fighting a supplicant issue.

Problem getting WinXP machine to connect to Time Capsule
I just changed from DSL to Comcast. Old DSL configuration works:
DSL modem->(ethernet cable) WinXP machine
DSL modem->Time Capsule->wired/wireless to Macbook Pro and wireless to iMac
New configuration:
cable modem->Airport Express->wireless to Time Capsule->(ethernet cable)Win XP machine
cable modem->Airport Express->wireless to Time Capsule->wired/wireless to MacBook Pro and wireless to iMac
Mac clients work fine, XP Client does not connect
I can connect through the Time Capsule to my MacBook with an ethernet cable, so I know the Time Capsule is connected. I did a DHCP release on both Mac machines to get them hooked up to Comcast; did ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, on XP machine, also tried "repair connection" but neither worked.
The DSL modem is in the same room with my MacBook and Time Capsule, while the cable modem is downstairs. I used the Airport Express to connect to the cable modem so I could maintain a wired connection between the Time Capsule and my MacBook for Time Machine.
In the past I used the Airport Express to connect the XP machine wirelessly.
Any ideas?I understand it seems backwards, but I'm trying it this way to keep the Time Machine within cable distance of my MacBook so that Time Machine is faster. Is there any real advantage to using the Time Capsule as the base station and the Airport Express as the extender, as opposed to the opposite (as I am doing now?) What configuration is likely to give the best throughput?
Here is what I have:
First floor: cable modem; iMac with its own external drive for Time Machine
Second floor: MacBook with Time Capsule for Time Machine.
The simplest solution seemed to be just to place the Airport Express (which was unused) next to the cable modem and leave the rest alone.
Meanwhile, I tried again to get the winxp machine connected, and it is working. I'm considering getting a second Airport Express for the winxp machine, so I can get rid of the long cable connecting it to the Time Capsule.
I'm marking this as solved since it started working, and I appreciate your taking the time to respond.

OS X Lion gets kernel panic when connecting via CIFS
A customer of ours has problems with OS X Lion clients that get kernel panic when connecting via CIFS (Novell OES server).
Any new on this issue?

Sorry for the late response - had to check a few things with the customer.
They use the latest OES version with all the latest sp and patches applied. They have even tested with the an OES 11 beta with the same result. The OS run as a VM on VMware in 64 bit mode attached to a SAN. Has also been tested as a plain install without VMware. The Lion version is 10.7.2.
This is how the problem occurs:
1. Mount the CIFS share - no problems
2. Use the share - no problems
3. If the network connection drops you get a message that the CIFS volume has disappeared and you are asked to unmount it. When you do that you get a kernel panic. You can force the problem to happen by turning of WiFi.
So it is OES2 but which version (SP1, SP2, or SP3)? Interesting as I'd only heard of this with NetWare 6.5.
Do you (and anyone else experiencing this issue in this thread) know if this has recently started happening, perhaps after the latest November 2011 Scheduled Maintenance patches were installed?
I'll hopefully be able to do some testing tomorrow but in the meantime I've asked Novell ...
HTH.
