Get Local user details (A Challenging question)

Hi All,
Is it possible to get the local user details such as user name, login time and logout time by passing ip address as input ? If so , Please let me know your inputs so that i can track all my users . I use Windows XP.

My list of servers are exported from CMDB data base and filter criteria i have used is role,status and first few characters of the server name.

What happens to my local user data? -newbie question sorry

Hi All,
Firstly apologies if this seems a dumb question, I've scoured the forums but I require something that fits my specific situation.
I've had a (my first) MacBook for about 9 months, built up a fairly healthy local user, setup just how I like it, MobileMe, iTunes, Chrome, iPhoto library, lots of other apps, etc etc and so forth.
I'm setting up a Mac Mini Server, and was wondering what I can do to join the new server, but take all my settings/downloads/iTunes etc with me... I don't want it all stored on the server, but I come from a Micro$oft Windows background. With MS, when you add a PC to a domain, login with the appropriate user account, you have a fresh profile, no settings, no files, no customisations etc etc is this also the case when I hit that Join Network Account server button on my Mac? Will I get a blank fresh account on my Macbook?
I'm guessing this must happen quite often as people start their way into Apple technology and build up a nice healthy local account before branching further into the Apple world...

The two laptops I use everyday have access to all the servers via my network account. It is set so that my user account is listed as having "no home" So I log into the laptop with my local user account with a UID of 501 but access all the network services via the go menu and my network account of the same name but with a UID of 1034.
For all other users in the company, if they are on a laptop, I use network accounts. The machines are managed to ask if the user wants to create a mobile account when they login. For permanently assigned laptop users, the answer is yes. This puts their home on the laptop and ties them to that machine. I use mobile account syncing to make sure their critical data is copied to the server for backup.
By having the machine ask to create the mobile account, users can answer no and login to their network home. The use of the laptop may be needed temporarily if a regular workstation is down.
Once in a while I will need to convert a local account to a network account. While a bit more laborious that setting it up correctly at the beginning, it can be done.
But I never let any user account have the UID of 501. I would set that up as the local admin account I use for installing updates and performing other maintenance. If needed, I would back up the user data and erase and re-install the OS.

Thank you for your immediate response.. I have a gone through that thread and I noticed that in that case by using the email address we are getting the userID. But in my case I need to get both userID and email address by using first name and last name. I also tried to get the person number from ADRP table by using these fields (So that I can get the email address from ADR6 table by using the person number).. but the first name and last name are not the key fields..So got stucked there. Please suggest me how to proceed.

I had defined the user informations in "Portal User Details". But i don't know how to get it and what the user table is?
for example: How to get the email address of user i have defined in portals?

You would use the portal API's for this, there is one named wwsec_api.person_info that returns a record with the specified user's information, such as first name, lsat name, email, telephone, etc - a pretty long list. With release 2 of portal the data is no longer stored in the wwsec_person$ table as it was in release 1 so use the API (which actually is how I would normally do it in release 1 as well).

Allow users to create Challenge Questions in OAAM

Hi,
I have OAAM 11.1.1.5 BP01 implemented and integrated with OIM and OAM 11.1.1.5.2.
I want to know if a user can be provided with the functionality to create his own challenge questions instead of selecting the OOTB ones.
If yes, what would be the implementation steps to achieve this?

AFAIK, no. You can definitely customize the existing challenge question set to add/edit/remove any number of questions from the OOTB defaults per your client/organization's requirements... but on an individual user level, there is no functionality to custom define their own unique question/answer set.

Forgot password for users for whom challenge questions are not set

Hi,
I have a scenario here where initially the environment property for force setting challenge questions during first login was not set to true.
But it has been set to true later. But for users created prior setting this property to true, the forgot password link is taking to a page to answer challenge questions which obviously is not working.
Is there anyway to handle this scenario without doing ADF customization? For example say, to force all previous users also to set challenge questions for whom the challenge questions are not set.

Hi, In your scenario, since user has forgotten his/her password and he has not set his answers to questions, so the only option left is calling Help Desk. Help desk guys should educate end users that go to OIM->My Information -> Set Security Questions. This is the only easy way I can think of.

How to get the user name and roles in ADF BC layer? . I need to get the username in entity layer,view layer and am layer.
Is there way to write common method to get the username from session data??

UWL Substitution - Get substitute user details

Hi
We have created a custom workflow with tasks in our ECC system.
We are maintaining the list of users/agents who participate in the workflow in a custom table.
We have integrated this workflow/tasks with UWL and published it on Portal.
We need to provide a feature for delegation or substitution when the user is on vacation. UWL provides this feature through "Manage your substitution rules".
Our requirement is:
Once delegated or substitution rule is created, we should be able to update the custom table with the new substitute user details.
Can anyone help us with this requirement?

How to redirect user from login page to "Set Challenge question" page

How to redirect user from login page to "Set Challenge question" page (NOT custom page) after 3 un successful password attempts?
Meaning when user types wrong password 3 times they will be redirected to set Challenge question page. If user answers the challenge question then password reset page should be appeared other wise (after remaining 3 un successeful challenge question answers) account should be locked out.

Thanks for your answer. Let me ellaborate more on the requirement here.
- Password Policy and Lost Password management are set up in the identity system
- Configure login tries allowed= 5. Verify accout is lock out after 5 unsucessful login.
This is what need to achieve.
1) If a user attempts to login 3(not 5) times using an incorrect login credential he/she should be redirected to set challenge question (security question) page.
2) Then if the user attempts (remaining) 2 times incorrect challenge answer then his/her account should be locked out.
3) If he/she answers the challenge answer correctly then he/she should be redirected to password reset page.
Is this possible?

Hello electrazy,
This is not possible from within the IDK. The best you can get are the Extended Data properties that are associated with the user object in the Global Property Map. If you want to get user information like the authentication name and the login name, you'll have to use the Portal Server API or directly query the database.

OIM 11g R2 PS1 - custom challenge question by user

Hello.. we have a requirement to let end user create their own challenge question? OOTB I don't see any option to let users enter thier own password challenge question during the time of challenge question registration.
While I was going through the OIM documentation I came across this property PCQ.USE_DEF_QUES for which the documentations says:

For customers who have customized their UI to allow end-users to set their own challenge questions, this property determines whether the user must select challenge questions from a predefined list in the Web Application, or if users are required to provide their own questions.

Any ideas or suggestions on how or where to do the customization for this requirement?

Check the for duplicacy in OBJ_KEY column of the process defination. If duplicate values exit then set them to 'null' and commit. Restart OIM if required

PAR Application Deployment User Details

In my landscape i came to know that Some one is re-deploying the few par application again and again,

The Par application is local development its not in NWDI Track.

There are logs and traces created for the portal events in following areas:
Log files - <drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance_number>\j2ee\cluster\serverX\log\system\security.log where role creation is an event, and is logged.
Traces - <drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance_number>\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\defaultTrace.trc

Tabular Form - How to store in a column the User details (APP_USER)

How do I, using a Tabular Form, get the USER details in the columns POSTED_BY_USER and UPDATED_BY_USER and the SYSDATE in DATE_UPDATED...
I've tried the following:
Created tabular form, all fields included. In Report Attributes > edit UPDATED_BY_USER > Display as Display as Text (saves state); Default Type: Item (application or page item); Default: APP_USER.
It's not working.

It has to be a text field column type with source like the other updatable columns. You should hide that column and create a second of display as text if you want to show the content. Once this is done then you can use the default value and just type the item name there as you did:
