Get metadata with Document ID

Hello,
Can we use Document ID and some SharePoint API to get information about document?
I find solution - use SharePoint Fast search service, but this solution suggests that I will crawl content source before.
Also i find DocumentId.FindUrlsById method , but I don't want to link to specific site collection and find document by ID in whole farm.
Is it possible?

I want to store metadata of the SharePoint SPListItem in another service(not SharePoint).
Problem in GetListItem service - that this service related to site collection, not whole farm.
I think use of the GetListItem in different connection point (different URL for different site collections)- this is solution

Actually, you might be able to get what you need out of DatabaseMetaData class.

Et_FORM_DATA_ADD event with Document Generation Wizard

In B1 2007 UI API, the et_FORM_DATA_ADD event doesn't get triggered with Document Generation Wizard. So, if the user using Document Generation Wizard to generate A/R invoice, how does my program get notified. If they use the A/R invoice form, we will get et_FORM_DATA_ADD event.

You can use the SBO_SP_PostTransactionNotice stored procedure in order to call your code and do the required actions.

XML cannot fully get all metadata with "getItemRequest"

My client is using GroupWise 7.0.3.
We want to get the dropdown list custom field data of document, but the XML file cannot fully record all corresponding custom field data by using "getItemRequest".
For example:
GroupWise Client - Document 1 :
Dropdown list custom field 1: aaa
Sub dropdown list custom field 1-1 of custom field 1: aab
Sub dropdown list custom field 1-2 of custom field 1: aac
Dropdown list custom field 2: bbb

Corrupt document gets created in document library with document template using createlistitem workflowaction in visual studio workflow for office 365 solution

My requirement is to create a document library associated to a custom content type with a document template associated. Also I need to create a document based on the template in this document library when a new item is created in another list by taking the
reference ID of that new Item , I need to create the document with the name appended by ID. I need to do all this deployment using WSP.

This works perfect for me.
However, there are few observations, when going to Document Library > Library Settings > Advanced Settings > Document Template section - doesnt shows the Edit template link. When tried to look at the value for the document template using view source
, it is giving me /Lists/MyDocsListInstance/Forms/template.dotx instead of the actual template file uploaded.
Ignoring the above observation, when I am trying to create a sandbox based workflow in visual studio to create document in document library when new item is created in another list, I provide the ContentTypeID as the ID associated with the document library
with template.
It creates the corrupt document at end of workflow.
I have tried using .docx instead of .dotx files for workflow as per solution provided in some of the post but it isnt resolving my issue.
Any help is much appreciated.

OK, I am going to throw out a lot of ideas here so hopefully they get you closer to a diagnosis. Hang on :)
Does it happen to work for some users but not others? If so, try logging in on the "good" computer with the "bad" username. This will tell you if the problem is related to the end-user's system. Also, once the user downloads a document
successfully can they open and work on it in Word? Also, does the document library have any custom content types associated with it or does it just use 'Document'?
I notice that there are other folks on the web that have run into this same problem and the similarity seems to be that they are either on SharePoint 2007 or have upgraded from 2007. Did this doc library start out as a 2007 library?
What you might want to do is this: Make a site collection from scratch in 2013 (or find one that you know was created in 2013). Choose team site (or whatever you want) for the root web and set up the security the same way you have it on the malfunctioning
library. Now, use windows explorer to copy and paste some of the documents to the new location. Be sure you recreate any needed content types. Now test it from the troubled user's computer.
I'm thinking there may be something that is different about the library since it was migrated through various versions and updates since 2007. I've sometimes found that there can be problems (especially with user profiles but that's a different story) with
things that go through this evolution.

We are getting faxes with 812 error - "Document conversion failed" in SOST

Hi
We are getting faxes with an 812 error - "Document conversion failed" in transaction SOST. The user is sometimes able to fax the number successfully, but other times fails - it is not consistent.
The conversion rules seem to be set up correctly, indeed, on a resubmit this often (but not always) works, so I don't think this is down to the conversion rules.
Is it a problem at the SAP side or the receiving system?
We enabled a trace but on analysis the only step that appears to be different in the failing ones is:
Status "Fehler" am Sendeauftrag gesetzt
Which I believe roughly translates that it failed to send - but why, and where can I find more detail?

I also noticed in the trace that the faxes that work have the following lines:
Determined device type: POST2. OTF Device Type POST2
Format conversion from OTF to PS With Device Type POST2
Converting OTF to PS
Whereas the ones that have failed say:
Determined device type: PDF1. OTF Device Type PDF1
Format conversion from OTF to PDF
Conversion rules for this country PL (Poland) and 'blanks' in order of prioroty are:
PDF                   S POST2
PDF PL Polish S ID2PDF
PS                          POST2
PS PL Polish   S I2SPOST

Why is everytime I try to down load window media player I get a text document or a windows media file it is a text document??

I try to download the player from apple I get a text document, if it is a .wmv file i get a text document.

I am new to ADF, I am trying to learn how to navigate from one page to another, the code that I have is simple, but it is not working, I specified the control flow rules in the adfc-config.xml and I even tried to specify the navigation rules in the faces-config.xml file, but it doesn't matter if I do it in one configuration file or another I get the same error. This is my first time working with ADF, I don't have formal training, just some video tutorial that I have seen on internet. I have previous experience with JSF, so I feel more comfortable writing the code for my program than using all the graphical tools (at least at this moment)
Any help to solve this problem will be highly appreciated.

User, tell us your jdev version, please!
What is your goal?
What you have find had nothing to do with ADF. If you ent to learn adf then I recommend to work through find of the tutorials available on the jdev home page.
If adf is not your goal, you might want to use Trinidad and ask your question in their forum.
You might not like the declarative approach adf uses, but if you want to learn how to use adf, you have to understand how ADF works. Most can be done using java, but one you understand the framework you see the advantage.

Unable to update advanced metadata of document?

Hi All,
I have create portal application in Jdev 11.1.1.7.0 and integrated UCM. added document service taskflow(document manager).
I am able to see the documents and upload/download are working. when I am open document and trying to update advanced metadata of document its show forbidden error in popup.

I found the solution for this! by enabled OHS on environment,this working fine.
but I am facing other issue.its again asking for UCM login details for update metadata.(I thought I need to enable SSO .may be will not ask for login) please correct me if am wrong.

I am facing other issue while uploading document into UCM.actually I have create one profile in ucm with certain custom metadata fields.
when i am uploading I am selecting that profile so similarly its navigating to ucm page (login and its opening check0in form).
here requirement is.
1. by default I have provide one profile fixed when uploading?
2.i have upload multiple documents simply drag and drop.I don't want to goto ucm page and check in like that ect. so simple one I drag and drop when I click on upload i need to upload document as well as need to update custom metadata.
to achieve this requirement OTB taskflow is sufficient? or do need to customize the taskflow or only through RIDC.?
Please let me know the possibility and suggest me to do this.

How do I get more out of QuickVPN? I would like to be able to access more than the shared document files. Can I run an application that is located on the Office computer from a remote location? Can I get to "My Documents" without having to share the folder. So many questions about how this works, with so little operating documentation. I am kind of disappointed so far. I have a WRV210 router with 4 network computers behind the router. Would like to be able to set p 2-3 tunnels for various remote access computers.

you can try using remote desktop in the computer (just search the internet on how to set-up RDP in your computers) -- this way you have control of more than files on the computers behind the router
i vaguely remember reading something about using some software after connecting to QVPN but unfortunately, I cannot find it anymore

Credit card Orders are getting blocked with credit check

Hi All
In our system, If customer's credit exposure is greater then 100 % then all the credit card orders are getting blocked with credit check even though it has valid authorization. Is this sap standard behaviour?....is there any setting that will always exclude credit card orders when it has valid authorization

Not able to get MetaData of BlobItems using java or by using the URI

You have got NullPointerException on Line1, what was this blob on line 1, I didn't very familar with java, but from my experience, we need to know the details of getMetadata(), about download blob file, I suggest you read this article:

Office 2013 applications crash with Document Information Panel open

I am using Office Professional Plus 2013 to work with documents that reside in SharePoint 2010 document libraries.
The content type(s) in that SharePoint site collection are set to automatically show the Document Information Panel when opened in Office applications. By opening any of these documents in their desktop app (via browser or Skydrive Pro), I am able
to check-out and edit content; but the check-in step always crashes the application, giving a pop-up error: "An unknown errors has caused <office program> to stop working."
By choosing to NOT automatically show the Doc Info Panel for these SharePoint documents, Office 2013 programs can handle everything just fine (editing, versioning, etc.).
If I don't auto-show the Doc Info Panel, but then manually open the panel once I get inside the program, this crashes the program in the same way as before.
If I save a local copy of a document and show the Doc Info Panel in any way (auto or manual), Office 2013 crashes.
I couldn't find any postings on this error and I don't see this incompatibility listed in the
Office 2013 known issues article and was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience?

I am having the exact same issue. I have created a Custom Site Column which is defined as a CHOICE. I do not want to put in a Default so left it blanl but field must be populated. I then put this into a Document Library Content Type.
With documents that are already been uploaded and in the Library when I pull up in Office Web Apps, I can make changes to the document but when I try to save it crashes.   Also, when I pull up document and say edit in Office Web Apps there is no
way to change information in the Document Information Panel since this does not appear.   (I forgot to mention that I required DIF to display in Content Type also).
This only happens on blank column fields when trying to save. If I do a Quick EDIT of the list and change my blank Choice columns to something(I created as radio buttons) and then go through the process it works OK and will save. Not sure
if this pertains to your issue but, I just prepopulate all columns with what the should be, when a brand new document from word, excel etc is created it is created from the Desktop version of Word Excel and when IT saves to SharePoint, I get
a message to choose information to put into properties before it actually saves.
