Get name of invalid column

Hello all,
is there any way to find out the offending name, if I receive an "ORA-00904 Invalid column name" error through JDBC?
I have checked the statement's and Connection's warning objects, but none of them seem to contain any additional information.
What I'm trying to do: my application can execute SQL statements by the user, now if the users enters a SELECT statement where a column is misspelled, I'd like to show hime the information which column name generated the error message.
Kind regards
Thomas

Hi, PavelVV
Sorry I'm really a newbie.
1. In step one.  Is it need any program to insert 2 field of content types.
On my SharePoint server has a SharePoint designer but I can't find where to use that code.
And In step 2, my list was enabled Enterprise Keyword.
P.S. I forgot to told you when I publish new POST.
It has that error. But when I check terms store, the new keyword is stored in term store.
If its works. >> Is it still need to add 2 specific fileld follow your advice.
Thank you for your advanced.

  • SAINT import of TU/SPS gets error 207 Invalid Column name 'area'

    Hi,
I have installed a EHP5 ECC 6 system, Windows 2008 SQLServer 2008R2. Have used SolMan MaintOpz to download the additional Technical Usages (TU) like HCM and SPS to be imported into the system using transaction SAINT.
I am using the stack.xml file for the Saint import.
IMPORT phase have completed, but now I am getting an SQL error 207 duing the XPRA_EXECUTION phase when doing method execution. This stops the SAINT import and when I click on Continue button i will et the same error and SAINT will stop again.
The error is for the support package SAPKB70204 Basis Support Package 04 for 7.02.
The return code for method execution is RC 8.
When I check the log file, the errors are
SQL Error 207 Invalid colun name 'area'
Errors occurred during post-handling MSS_SDBP_AFTER_IMP for SDBP L
The error affects the following components: BC-DB-MSS
Further analysis find that it is trying to run a SQL script and the script fails due to the above error.
I read the script, it contains statements to create a table with a field name 'area' and select statements to this table.
I have tried patching the SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB kernels to the latest but still the same error. Already on the latest kernel level and dbmssslib.dll and tp and r3load and r3trans files due to the patch.
Without fixing this error, my SAINT import will never complete and I will not have a functioning ERP system. The entire team is waiting for me so plese can anyone help me? I am desperate.
Thank you for any advise or help.

  • Invalid column name (with ojdbc)

    hi,
I created a resultSet by executing query with more then one table in it. (left join)
and now i want to getObject. so I execute resultSet.getObject("tablename.columnName")
and I get this error "invalid column name".
when i'm doing the same thing with MySQL it works fine.
I don't want to do aliases for all the columns because there are too much of those.
    please help.
    thanks,
    asaf.

that's not standard JDBC. You must use either the plain column name,
or the column number. In cases where there are multiple columns with
the same name you must use the column number for all but the first
    column with the same name.

  • Sometimes ORA-00904: invalid column

    Hello,
Some times when i am running a query I get 'ORA-00904: invalid column name'. Next times i run exactly the same query the query runs well for a few times. And in an unpredictable way, exactly the same query fails again.
    I am using Oracle 8i 8.1.7
    Can someone help me out?

The error does not occur in just a single query. There are multiple query's in whitch the error sometimes occurs. We have been looking for similarity's in the query's, but we haven't found one so far. It seems to be the error does occur more often in query's wich are using a databaselink.
The error does also occur in update statements.
    This is an example query:
    SELECT DISTINCT
    zt.rowid,
    zt.id,
    zt.begindatum_tim,
    zt.zorgtraject_id,
    zt.SSPC_ZORGTYPE_ID,

    stp_lees_dbc_code(zrgt.ID, zrgt.initieel_sspc_id, zt.ID) AS dbc_code
    FROM

    WHERE
    zrgt.ID = :parzorgtrajectid
    AND zrgt.verwijderd_bln = 'N'

  • JDBC/SQLJ Team - Please respond - invalid column type error

Hi, I have posted several messages regarding problems using SQL/J to call out a stored packaged function that returns a ref cursor, but haven't gotten one response. I have yet a new problem with it. JDBC team, please acknowledge!
I change the way I obtain a connection to the database from using the Oracle.connect along with a properties file, to now using a DataSource connection pool. As a result, I am constantly getting a SQLException: Invalid column type error. If I change the call to the stored function to a query in the SQLJ code, it's fine. What's going on??
A previous message I wrote stated I was constantly getting a "closed statement" error when I tried to call the next method of the iterator. I corrected this by removing the finally clause in the generated JDBC code that released the execution context.
Again, the environment is JDK1.2.2, SQLJ 8.1.6 SDK, JDBC 8.1.6 thin, all on NT.
    Thanks
    David

I am getting the same error message - Invalid Column Type. I am creating a Default Context by calling Oracle.getConnection(connection) passing in an instance of my own connection class that basically delegates to the OracleConnection. We wrapped the Connection so that we could trap and recover from lost database connections.
My environment is Solaris 2.6, Oracle 7.3.4 with Sqlj 8.0.5.
    Thanks!

  • Using "$" character with Oracle; getting "invalid column name"

I am running the following query against an Oracle database:
    select price from my_table
    where index_name = 'CGPR_C$'
    and settlement_date = to_date('02/19/2001','MM/DD/YYYY')
The query runs fine in TOAD.
If I run this query from my java code, I get an "invalid column name" exception.
If I take out the "$" character, the query runs fine.
I've tried inserting the "$" in as unicode, escaping out the character, ||chr(36)||, and nothing works.
    Please help!
    Ashley

Look up your Oracle SQL documentation and find out how to use column names that would otherwise be invalid. Some databases allow you to put column names, table names, and so on in square brackets (e.g. [CGPR_C$]) but I don't know Oracle's syntax.

  • Invalid column name in my trigger -- why do I get this error?

I have a table called ConfNums_Exec which contains a column named ReportType (varchar(50)).  Here is the trigger I am trying to create but get  the error that ReportType is an invalid column.  What am I doing wrong?
create trigger dbo.ins_ExecConfNums on dbo.ConfNums_Exec for insert as
    if ReportType <> 'Exec'
    Begin
       rollback tran
raiserror('ReportType column can only contain text Exec', 16, 1)
    End
    return
    Thanks
    Rich P

    Hi, try please :
create trigger dbo.ins_ExecConfNums on dbo.ConfNums_Exec for insert as
    declare @ReportType varchar(50)
    select @ReportType=ReportType from inserted
    if @ReportType <> 'Exec'
    Begin
    rollback tran
raiserror('ReportType column can only contain text Exec', 16, 1)
    End
    return
PLEEEEEEEASE! Don't post such bad examples. A trigger fires once per statement, and a trigger must be able to multiple-row operations. Since you hang out a bit in these forums, you should know this by now. Here is a good version of the trigger:
create trigger dbo.ins_ExecConfNums on dbo.ConfNums_Exec for insert as
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM inserted WHERE ReportType <> 'Exec')
    Begin
    rollback tran
raiserror('ReportType column can only contain text Exec', 16, 1)
    End
    return
An even better solution would be a CHECK constraint:
    ALTER TABLE dbo.ins_ExecConfNums
ADD CONSTRAINT dbo.ConfNums_Exec_ck (CHECK ReportType = 'Exec')

  • When trying to 'Consolidate Files' via iTunes I get the message "Copying files failed. The name was invalid or too long."

I am trying to copy my entire iTunes library and everything in it from my PC Desktop to my PC Laptop using the "External Drive" method as shown on the Apple website. On Part 1 (5) I am told to consolidate files. When attempting to do this I get the message "Copying files failed. The file name was invalid or too long."
    How do I resolve this?

I have just been having this problem and it has been driving me mad.   The error message doesn't tell you which file is causing the problem so you can't fix it and it leaves your libray in a state of limbo with some files copied into the new location and some in the old location.  After many hours I found a surprisingly quick and simple solution.
    1) in iTune create a smart play list that includes everything that was added before tomorrows date.  This will include everything.
    2) Right click this playlist and export it as a text file to produce a tab delimited file.
    3) Import this into a spread sheet, or just view it in a text editor with line wrap turned off.  What you are interested in is the last column (or end of the line in a text editor).  This gives you the path of the file associated with each entry in the library.
The path of the files that have already been copied successfully will start with the new location for your media files you specified.  Scroll thru the rows until you get a blank path.  If you start getting paths starting with the old Media file location then you went to far and start scrolling back.
The row with the blank path was the file that failed.  Move back to the start of the row to find out more about it.  In my case it was a podcast with a very long name. I just deleted that podcast from iTunes.
    4) Restart the consolidation by choosing File, Library as you did before and the process starts again where it left off.
    5) If it fails again on another file just repeat the process

We have changed default thin driver to 920 from 817 in 610sp4. If you are using 817/901 dbserver, please put 817/901 classes12.zip in your
classpath before weblogic.jar and you will be ok.

We have been using WLS 6.1 sp2 with toplink and never had any problems. Recently
we migrated to sp4 and get a invalid column name exception while updating records.
For select queries there is no error. The SQL generated by toplink is -
    UPDATE PR_SUPP SET CNTC_PRSN_NAME = ''
    , REMK = 'Remark 123', LAST_CHNG_DTTM = {ts '2002-11-29 10:59:56.0'} WHERE ((S
    UPP_CODE = 'A0001') AND (LAST_CHNG_DTTM = {ts '2002-11-29 10:46:01.0'}))
It looks like some problem with the JDBC driver. The databse is Oracle 8.17. How
    to fix it

  • Invalid column name in query string - using Format function

In my post just before this one the problem was solved for writing a query string using a date range. The rest of the query string includes the same date field (Call_Date) but formatted as 'MMM-YY'. I get an invalid column name error when I add this field to the query string. Here is the rest of the query string:
    strSql = "SELECT Format(CALL_DATE,'mmm-yy'), " _
    & "HOME_REGION FROM CCC2.CASE_EPRP " _
    & "WHERE (HOME_REGION = 'NCR') AND " _
    "(CALL_DATE >= to_date( '1/1/2002', 'MM/DD/YYYY' )" _
    & "AND CALL_DATE <= to_date( '2/28/2003', 'MM/DD/YYYY' ))"
In the Access Query tool I can include this field
    Format(CALL_DATE,'mmm-yy')
and the query runs fine (I just need to make it dynamic using ADO). But in my ADO query string above, I get the invalid column name error. Is there a way I can include
    Format(CALL_DATE,'mmm-yy')
in my ADO query string? I appologize for not being more familiar with Oracle Sql. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again,
    Rich

Thank you very much for your reply. I think I'm getting closer to the solution. Just I got an error message
    "date format not recognized"
when I add "to_char( call_date, 'mmm-yy' )" to the query string. I tried using all uppercase, but that did not make a difference. Do I need to use to_date inside the to_char maybe?
    to_char(to_date(call_date, 'mmm/yy'), 'mmm-yy')
    Thanks again for your help.

Please suggest me on using ':' bind character in DB adapter Select Query SOA11g.
Can someone help me on this please?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Could you please make sure your binding style(Oracle Positional,Oracle named..etc) of the Seeded VO and Custom Vo are same.
This is the option you will get when you are extending your vo. So make sure that both are same.
You can refer the below link too
VO extension leads to "Invalid column index" exception
