Get rid of rounded corners in Flash flv player skin?

Hi,
I'm using Flash CS3 on Mac OS X creating a couple of clips.
Regretfully,
the default flv player skins in CS3 all have rounded bottom
corners. As
the site's entire layout is very "square", these corners are
standing
out like sore thumbs.
I suspect that there has to be a parameter somewhere within
the swf-file
that takes care of this, but I haven't a clue, really.
Can someone please explain how to make the corners square
shaped?
TIA
Macaroni

From the Flash help:
The best way to create a skin SWF file is to copy one of the
skin files that come with Flash, and use it as a starting point.
You can find the FLA files for these skins in the Flash application
folder in \en\Configuration\FLVPlayback Skins\FLA\ActionScript 3.0
To make your finished skin SWF file available as an option in the
Select Skin dialog box, put it in the Configuration/FLVPlayback
Skins/ActionScript 3.0 folder, either in the Flash application
folder or in a user's local \en\Configuration\FLVPlayback
Skins\FLA\ActionScript 3.0 folder.
Or, you can completely make youre own buttons and asign them
to the FLVplayback as controlls with actionscript. For example:
myFLVplayer.stopButton = myStopButton;
myFLVplayer.playButton = myPlayButton;

  • Getting rid of white corners on QT mask

I'm trying to apply a mask to two different QT movies. Both with rounded corners. I am dragging my mask (JPEG) into the Video/Properties window and I can see that it is applied to the movie. However, when I export I cannot get rid of the white corners. There has to be a simple way to fix this that I'm just not seeing... help anyone?
This job is of course all of a sudden pressing and I need to get it sorted out quickly. Thanks for any and all help ahead of time!

Interesting. I'm not entirely sure how to make a mask either. I'm using an existing mask that was already used on this job. If I were to make it in PhotoShop, are there any special specifications I would need to make like channels or alpha channels, or is it just straight up black & white? Any special resolution?
    Thanks for all your help!

  • How can I get rid of outdated versions of Flash?

Hi. I'm new to the Adobe forums and I need help with Flash
    Player.
On a friend's recommendation, I ran my system through Secunia
Software Inspector. It found that my Adobe Flash Player was
outdated and that I have five outdated versions of Macromedia Flash
on my system in seven different locations.
I have updated my Adobe Flash Player, and that's fine now,
but the installation failed to get rid of the old versions of
Macromedia Flash. The Secunia writeup even hinted this might be a
problem, and suggesting I go to "the vendor" (Adobe) to find out
how to solve the problem. Here's what it said:
"NOTE: When updating Flash Player, older versions are not
always automatically removed from your system. If older versions
were detected that you believe should not be present, then please
contact the vendor regarding how to remove them from your system."
These Macromedia files don't show up in my Control Panel >
Add/Remove facility. They don't even show up if I Search for
Macromedia. I did copy down the names of the files where Secunia
    says they are found:
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\swflash.ocx (version
    4.0.7.0)
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\Flash.ocx (version
    7.0.19.0)
    C:\i386\swflash.ocx (version 4.0.7.0)
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\Flasha.ocx (version
    6.0.80.0)
    C:\Program Files\EarthLink Setup\Windows\access\program
    files\EarthLink TotalAccess\Flash.ocx ( version 6.0.79.0)
    C:\i386\Flash.ocx (version 7.0.19.0)
    C:\i386\NPSWF32.dll (version 8.0.24.0)
Can anyone suggest a solution? I am not at all adept at
computers (for all I know, even asking this question gives me
away), so I may need extra-simple language. But apparently, talking
to people who know Adobe is the only way I can find myself a
    solution.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
You may already know this, but have you checked your folder
options under the tools menu in Windows explorer?, not your browser
Internet explorer. Click folder options, click on the view tab,
click on show hidden files and folders and you can deselect hide
protected system files and folders. Hit apply and Ok. Do another
search, type in some of these file names or their extensions,
Ex.(*.ocx), and the files should come up, oh I almost forgot, down
at the bottom of the search page there are options, choose to
search for hidden files or system files, then do your search again.
Secunia says in order to disable the prior versions to delete
certain files, but it doesn't look like one can remove all the
entries and files from ones registry or hard drive, it looks like
they will always remain on your pc, but the previous flash player
versions should be disabled. When you find and remove these files,
I recommend you go back to the folder options in windows explorer
and select hide protected system files and folders. Just so you
don't accidentally delete these important files, unless you know
what your are doing, if you do, your computer will be messed up
royally. Also, it may be a good idea to also select hide hidden
files and folders. It depends on your knowledge of the pc.
Good Luck! I hope this helped you.

  • I can't get rid of firmware for WRT54RS flashed on WRT54GL router

Today I tried (unsuccesfull) to reset my router back to factory default.
Unfortunately I found that the IP address did not reset to factory default.
But I still can ping the device.
So I checked the firmware by logging into the device.
B.t.w the admin account credentials changed back to factory default.
First I checked the model of the router and compared that with the firmware within the device.
Then I found the mismatch, the device specs say it's a WRT54GL and the installed firmware says it's WRT54GS.
This seem to be some custom made firmware of some kind.
In the administration section, I found that the firmware update tab is missing.
I then googled for some methods trying to flash the device with the appropriate firmware.
At first I tried the 30/30/30 reset procedure, after reboot still the same settings, so no luck here.
Next I tried tftp with the appropriate firmware version.
After specifying the location of firmware, entering the device password (which happen to be the default due to earlier reset), I then hit the start button.
Some leds start to flicker, then after about 20 seconds the error text occur "unable to get a response from the server".
So I can't get rid of this mismatch firmware here.
    What do I do next?
    How about jtag?
Assumption is the cause of all misery

Hi wrtlinksys-user, you can try to do a funny reset on the router. To do it, just press and hold the reset button on the device for 30 seconds and when you reach 20 seconds while counting, simply unplug and replug the power adapter of the router. Update us if this will help you.

  • How to get rid of duplicate files in Windows Media Player 11, I am seeking an answer if at all possible.

I don't know if this is the appropriate forum to ask this question....if it is not please guide me to the correct support forum. I am just trying to find out if there is an easier way of getting rid of duplicate files in my Windows Media Player 11.
Also how do I prevent my Media player from obtaining all these duplicate files from other libraries.  I have iTunes installed and my home network has four other computers belonging in the home group that have all their own respective music libraries.
I guess I was naïve but I thought that when Windows Media Player is out searching other libraries it would know not to take duplicates of songs that it has already.  Enough said .....if anyone out there can help me that would be great.  I have in
the past spent many hours manually deleting songs from my music files and it really got old.

  • Round movie frame but can't get rid of white corners

I've used a rounded-rectangle as a mask so the corners of the
movie are rounded. That works, but the corners (background?) are
white still: basically I have a rounded movie playing in a square
white box. How can I get the background to be transparent?

I should have mentioned I'm using swfobject to embed the
movie in my final page. I've tried passing the "bgcolor" param
without effect. I'll see if I can learn anything using your
    suggestion, however. Thanks!
[edit] Yup, that helped by showing the correct format etc. of
the params. I also discovered I was omitting to set the
expressinstall param of swfobject to false, so that's why my
earlier attempts were failing. Thanks! [/edit]

  • Rounded Corners look terrible...

Does Adobe have plans to fix the rendering of rounded corners in flash builder 4? I am posting a screenshot of how they are rendering currently and I am really hoping that this gets fixed in a later release.

    wicket,
Can you please file a bug at http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/ and include a simple test case where you're seeing this (is it only in Builder design view? in published SWFs?)
Also, can you please post the bug number here so I can subscribe/vote.

  • FLV player component. Open Source/commercial options?

I'm returning to a project I've had on hold for a bit. We're
    now receiving
.flv files from our video team and we need to displaying them
    on our site.
Can anyone recommend some Flash FLV player components? Open
    source
preferred, but commercial or freeware would be OK too if
    highly recommended.
I've looked at OSFLV but that appears to require PHP back end
    scripts. Our
site is ASP.net so likely wouldn't work.
Ideally, it'd be a player that we could passe the FLV info to
    via the HTML
(so that we could incorporate the embed markup automatically
    via our CMS
    back end).

I beleave first of all you must decide how will you show your
    videos.
Do you have FMS? Or is webserver the only you have for your
    site? If
you don't have FMS and don't like to buy its license, then
    the only
possible way is to use HTTP Streaming or simple progressive
    download.
And you must seek for a player depending on your choice of
    the video
delivery method. HTTP Streaming is a great choice if you
    haven't FMS.
Though you need some scripting language/database engine at
    your web
server and some custom SWF (Flash FLV Player). Standard UI
    components
like FLVPlayback will not work with HTTP Streaming. Though it
    is not
so dificult to create such player using any Flash MX version
    >= 7.
You can find some brief description of HTTP Streaming if
    you'll try to
    search in Google:

  • FLV flashing frames how do I get rid of them

I've got a very clean wmv file that transitions from one still to the next wonderfully (800x600).
I got to the Media Encoder (CS4) and when it makes my FLV/F4V (ans I've tried h.264).
All of a sudden I get after the fading transition from one still to the next there is a brief a

This is really annoying.  What is going on and how do I get rid of it?

You aren't likely to get any of your questions answered for the reasons you already identified, and I imagine you would not find a tutorial for something as complex as what you are prusuong..  You need to learn how to design with Flash, and a forum is not a place where you are going to get that kind of help.  If you have code and/or a design issue that you need help with then that's where a forum might be of use to you.

  • Get rid of the skin for DW flv embed

    Using DW CS4...
So embedding FLV files is really easy in DW. I just need to get rid of the skin!!! How do I do that? And I'd prefer to NOT convert the FLV to an SWF because then the whole thing needs to download before it starts playing....

    Hi
The only way is to create your own skin file, this can be a blank skin with no controls, then replace the dw supplied skin file with your own, you will require the flash program to do this of course.
Unless you have a good reason for wanting this feature I would not recommend doing this, as providing no controls takes the control away from the user, which is why the skin files where created in the first place, (the decision is yours though).

Actually Mike you can just hit refresh in that same window where you unchecked the box and it will fix it right then.
I use cocktail just for its weekly cleaning. What I use for everything else is an app called MainMenu. Here is the link:http://www.santasw.com/ It sits in you menu bar and you can just go a list and pick what you want it to do. It is wonderful.

  • Getting rid of ugly background behind rounded input button

I have saved a rounded input button as png8 with alpha transparency. However, as there are different background colors, choosing a matte becomes problematic. It looks decent in IE7, but has an ugly dark squared background in Safari. The easy solution would be to square the button, but it is a design feature, so..... Any ideas? I tried adding a "transparent" to the background in addition to the image, but all that did was get rid of the background image as well...
    http://www.miobambinoshop.com/myaccount.php

I see the hard corners in FF (Win), too. It is not as dark as in Safari, though.
That button graphic is small enough to save as a 32bit png. In fact, when I did an export from FireWorks, the 32bit png is 910 bytes - just over half the size of your 8bit file.
[Edit: Deleted graphic. Not my file to post]
