Get system font size (CL_GUI_RESOURCES= GET_FONTSIZE)

I'm using CL_GUI_RESOURCES=>GET_FONTSIZE to retrieve the SAP GUI font, so that I can adjust some web content dynamically.
However, I'm getting some strange results back, and wanted to know how I should interpret the result of this method.
When using SAPGUI for Windows 7.30, with a system defined font size of 9, this method returns:
90,000
At first I thought maybe I just need to arbitrarily divide by 10,000 to get the font size in points.
However when using SAPGUI for Java on my retina macbook pro, with a system defined font size of 12, this method returns:
78,545
Can anyone tell me exactly what this method is returning, and how I can convert it to the actual system font size in points?

Yes you can't use CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES from a BSP page.  CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES using activeX controls running within the SAPGui to perform most of its actions.  Since you have not connection to a SAPGui during a BSP page, you can use this class.
You might want to look at scripting against the Microsoft FileSystem Object.  There is a size property of both the folder and file object.  A search of Microsoft's website will show lots of documentation on this object and code samples in VBScript and JavaScript.  This does opens up all kinds of security concerns from the browser however.

  • Get system font size

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to get the system font size(the size with which the user views the desktop)?
I've looked at System.getProperties() but there doesnt seem to be a key for getting the current font or font size.
I want this so that I can set the fonts in my java app to the same size as the system ones.
    Cheers,
    Jim

    Hi Charles,
The font size for the current user can be stored in different locations, depending on how your company is configured. There is a global setting which can be found in the General Settings screen. This setting is actually user-specific and is stored in the b1-current-user.xml file which is created in the user's Windows profile (so it's also workstation specific unless you are using roaming profiles). The file is written to when the user clicks on Update in the General Settings screen. The path to this file depends on the operating system that the SBO client is running on.
For Windows XP and Server 2003 the path will be:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<ProfileName>\Local Settings\Application Data\SAP\SAP Business One
For Windows 7, Vista and Server 2008 the path will be:
    C:\Users\<ProfileName>\AppData\Local\SAP\SAP Business One
In SBO you can also define the font using User Defaults (AdministrationSetupGeneral--User Defaults). Unlike the general setting, this is stored in the database:
    select T0.USER_CODE, T1.Font, T1.FontSize from OUSR T0 left outer join OUDG T1 on T0.DfltsGroup = T1.Code
User Defaults overrides the value in General Settings.
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • How do I increase system font size (for menus, etc.)?

I wear contacts, but still don't have perfect vision, and working on my mac all day as a researcher means that my eyes can get tired- especially since I work on double screens- my macbook air + a widescreen display on my desk. There are a lot of accessibility options in Yosemite, but I cannot see an option to simply increase the menu/system font size. It seems ridiculous that one can easily increase fonts in safari or other programs with a pinch-out motion, but there are NO possibilities for making menus and system text--which users have to decipher across their day and tasks--more legible. (I could never find this option in Mavericks either, but am surprised not to see it added in Yosemite, with all the smart, beautiful aesthetic changes).
So, how can I increase menu font size?
    Many thanks in advance!
    Emily

  • Increase system font size ?

Just bought a new imac 27". I find the system font size way too small and very stressful to my eye. Did quite some search on how to increase the font. It appears that there is no way to increase system font in OS X ? That really ***** big time.

Hello font2small_imac27 & welcome to the forums...
It appears that there is no way to increase system font in OS X
These options all work work for me on my iMac:
    • Finder menu/View (or right click on Desktop) Show View Options....you can choose from 10pt to 16pt there.
    • A typical method is to change the display's resolution... As well, in System Preferences/Appearance there is an option to [√] Use LCD font smoothing when available.
    • You can change the text/viewing bigger/smaller in certain applications, such as Safari ( http://www.apple.com/safari/features.html ).
    • You can also go to System Preferences/Universal Access/Seeing and apply 'Zoom' there.
    • Using the 'Help' menu in the Finder, type in text size and follow the documentation available there.
    • Use the menu/tab at the top for 'Downloads' to see what if any 3rd party applications are available - be certain they are fully compatible w/Snow Leopard or don't bother.
    • Details on various options for menus, etc. around the OS can be studied here: http://www.ehow.com/how4516828adjust-icon-size-desktop-preferences.html
You might want to take a class at your nearest Apple Store for new users to help get the most out of your new iMac.

  • How to increase system font size in Lion

I just bought a new imac 27 inches display. At full resolution the font are sooo tiny. How can you increase the size of these system fonts without affecting the resolution?

You can use Tinkertool to change the system font size.

  • Is there a real way to increase the system font size yet?

I got a new Mac Pro (2013 model) to use with my Dell U2711 monitor which has a native screen resolution of 2560x1440.  After spending some significant time fighting with cables (HDMI and DVI will not allow for full native resolution due to a Dell issue, only Display Port works), I finally got my screen working at the full native resolution.  Since I am going from a previous resolution of 1920x1080, as you can imagine, the text is pretty small.
    I am running OS X Mavericks 10.9.1.
I searched the forums for a way to increase the default font size and found a ton of posts, but most posts were older or got the response "Change your screen resolution" which translates to "Drop your resolution to a non-native and clearly inferior mode" or buy some special computer reading glasses.  These are not real solutions for me.  I do professional photo editing so being able to have a high screen resolution is important.  With a great OS I would think there would have to be a way to increase the font size.  (Surely if Windows can do it, so can Mac OS).  I know I can do it for some individual applications like iTunes, Safari, Chrome, etc.  But I can't find a way to increase it for apps that don't have a font size option or for default mac applications like the action bar.  Is this an issue that just keeps being ignored or is there a solution yet?
With 4K displays already on the market and 8K ones being shown off at CES, if we can't control the default font size, are the next set of solutions going to be "Go buy a really big magnifying glass"?  If the current answer is still that I'm SOL, could we please get some feedback to the product group that this is a real issue and it's only going to get worse with higher res monitors coming.  I don't think many people will be happy dropping their 4K displays to 1080 resolution or lower just so they can read the text.

Download and run the free application TinkerTool (not "TinkerTool System"), select the Fonts tab, and change the font sizes.

  • How to get reasonable font size with higher screen resolution

I'm using my new Mac Mini as living room PC with 42" plasma screen and tv itself seems to support quite well the 'better' resolutions like 1024x768. Unfortunately then text is too small to read from sofa (which is about 3 meters away from tv). I have switched back to 800x600 resolution where font sizes are almost ok but many programs complaint about the resolution (e.g. Google Earth) and need to change the resolution back and worth to get some OK button pressed which is glumsy.
I have also found pretty good Tinkertool to finetune font sizes but it does not affect all font sizes like I want. So question is there any better solution how I could find theme that suites better for living room purpose (have not find any theme possibilities for MacOSX). In Linux I could finetune X fontserver, in WIndows I could fine tune the theme used to have bigger fonts, how do I do it in this cool mac?

I hear you! I would also like to see an answer for this. I am running Leopard on a Mac Mini on my 50 inch display in the living room. I have set the resolution to 1080p so that the video and photos are as sharp as possible. (man the videos look great)...
But, I have a very hard time reading the menu bar, as well as safari and mail from this machine. I realize that there are ways to increase the font sizes, but:
    1) when I restart safari, I have to change the settings each time
    2) when I restart mail, I have have to change the setting each time
    3) I cannot figure out a way to make the menu bar larger
I really don't want to bring the mac mini down to a resolution like 800X600 - I think it would look horrible on the large screen.
What is a big screen lover to do?
Any help would be most appreciated...
    Cheers!

  • How do you get the font size back to normal on a website?

The size of my fonts on my hotmail acct are tiny. Don't know how it happened, & I can't get it back. Using the "Tools" menu, to attempt to change fonts, changes it for all sites. How do I change the font size back for just one website? Can anyone help?

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: <b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

  • How do I change the system font size?

Just a got a new Macbook pro. Love it but can't figure out how to change the font size for the whole system. I can adjust the content of specific windows  but I can't seem to change the size of text in the address bar, tool bar, menu bar, etc. Everything is way too small on this big beautiful screen!

Also use Firefox and the following add-ons:
NoSquint and Theme Font & Size Changer
NoSquint will remmeber your zoom setings per website and Theme Font will change the size of the menu type itself
Firefox is a highly customizable browser, the menu area can be themed with a persona picture, which is the blue and white type you see.
A lot easier and softer on the eyes than Safari's black and grey (less depressing too)

  • How to change system font size in mountain lion

Have they came out with a patch to adjust system wide font sizes?

Have they came out with a patch to adjust system wide font sizes?
Not to my knowledge. One way of changing the size of the text is to alter the resolution. Admittedly it's a less than perfect solution but many on here seem to manage with it.
System Preferences>Displays - click on Scaled and select another resolution.

  • System Font Size Too Small

I just received a new 15 inch powerbook today (Dec. 2005). It has increased screen resolution with respect to the previous model, but I think the default font size (i.e. top menu bar, safari window bar font size) is noticeably smaller than the older powerbooks. The problem is you can't adjust this - in Finder - show view options only controls the desktop icon size and font sizes. In safari you can make the page text bigger, but not the font size of the window. There is the Zoom option in accessibility, but I really only need a small global font increase. Does anybody know a work-around?
    thanks
    Trevor

    Download and use TinkerTool.
Thanks - but it said something like "this is not adjustable" and asked to click an "understood button". Subsequent system font adjustments did not do anything. It looks like the adjustability varies for different OS X releases...

  • Cannot get the font size to enlarge when on sites with very small print.

Although there is a place to enable Firefox to enlarge small print, it never works (except on this site, of course). A number of sites I visit have very small print and are hard to read, including AOL mail. Wondering if it is a problem with my computer or with Firefox for me. I have tried the settings change (no response on it), and also the AOL mail settings. The settings says that you can put in the maximum size by hand and it will automatically do it, but not for me. With poor vision, it would be nice to be able to have it at least near the size that has come through on here.

The Firefox Page Zoom feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox.
Try the Default FullZoom Level extension: <br />
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965
Or the NoSquint extension: <br />

  • Increase font size of a print out

    Hi,
We neet to print one ABAP report in landscape. The font is very small to be visible. So, we need to increase the font.
Currently while printing on a local computer, the format its using is X_65_255.
Please suggest me what has to be done to increase the font size to get the report clearly visible.
    Thanks,
    Sailesh K

Right!!  This will happen, this is why I suggest to shorten the size of the report,  get rid of gaps in the columns, get rid of un-needed columns, etc.  This is the only way to get the font size to increase, because the system wants to show all the data in the report, so it shrinks the font to accomodate the  255.  A 132 format looks very good on an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet in landscape.  The font is a very good size, as you increase the columms, the font will decrease.  Do you understand why it is this way?  Think of it this way, if you need to put 500 characters across the page, what do you do?  Shrink the font, right?  This is what the system is doing when going with larger number of character columns.  If you want to get the report to a nice readable font size, you must bring the format down to 132 characters across.

  • Font size in executables

I have been struggling somewhat to make my executables look the same way as my source code now, and managed in the end to sort this mess out, using the setttings in the ini-file etc. I have also experienced many times the last years that my source-code forgets my font-size and put them all back to the system standard, to my great frustrations. After programming LabVIEW in 20 years, and never had these problems with font sizes that has emerged the last years (after Win 7 ?), I must say I am a bit frustrated about this behaviour.
I also read on the net that changing the font size under Win 7 shall NOT influence the font size in my programs.
Doesn't this mean that NI is breaking the rules on how font size is suppposed to be handled under Windows 7 ?

Just an observation.  Reading your post as a requirement, I would think that it was Windows 7 that is at fault because it is causing a change in an application by the way it was worded.  But that is an aside.
This might be interesting reading for you: How Do I Set the Default Application Font, Dialog Font, and System Font Size in LabVIEW?  It explains that LabVIEW takes the font sizes from the operating system.  An extremely wild guess by me would be it has something to do with cross-platform compatibilty so if you made a VI on a Mac you could be assured of having a usable font in Windows, for instance.  Anyway, Google gets massive hits on "LabVIEW font problems" for this forum.  I tend to use Google search before I post.  I find the forum search that posting requires to be too confusing and usually not too helpful.

  • How can increase text/font size iMac late 2012

I am a new iMac user so forgive my ignorance!  I cannot get the font size on my 21 inch iMAC to increase and am having a hard time reading the screen?  Can anyone tell me the way to do this please?

But why no font adjustment I wonder?
Actually, there is.... sort of:  Open a Finder window...Click on the gear button upside down triangle>Show View Options:  This window has settings for icon sizes and font sizes.  The largest font size is 16.  Hint: The larger the icon the larger the fonts.  When done, click the Use as Defaults button.
Another hint:  System Preferences>General-Turn off text smoothing for font sizes___and smaller.  The number 12 works great for me.
My personal setup:  Display=1600x900, Finder (windows) icon size=112x112, text size=16
