GetAppletContext method

hi guys
i would like to know more about this method.I want my applet to obtain information about its information and display it somewhere. Does the above method help and if so how to implement it?

Check the API docs, it'll tell you what you can get from the java.applet.AppletContext this method returns. You don't usually implement AppletContexts unless you are writting an applet viewer.

I want to control my popup menus and thier actions in class called Popup_Menus then create an instance of this class in an other class which allows me to use the popup menus.
When I compile Popup_Menus class I am getting the following error: -

Thanks Sandeep. I replace the count with RCOUNT and i'm not getting the error. Can you tell me what did this do by adding Rcount to my formula? Also i'm still getting the error with my actual execution rate. THis is a different formula. The actual execution rate is below:

I have three classes, first one extends JApplet, second class I use two create my popup menus, third class I use for my main actions to be done. I need when a popup menu is clicked to load a page, but I am getting this error.

Open new browser window from a JApplet

Hi,
I want to open a new browser window from a JApplet.My first thought was to use the Live Connect technology but it worked only with simple applets not with JApplets.Then i tried it by getting the Applet context (getAppletContext() method) but it still didn't work with JApplet...(it worked with Applet).I believe it has something to do with the applet security but i haven't yet figured it out.
For example when i call the getAppletContext() method from a JApplet i get an java.security.AccessControlException ... .Thanks

The getAppletContext() method does work with JApplets too.Still , i have problems with the Live connection alternative.It seems that it by importing the netscape.javascript package i get the security eror that i mention above...

JSObject.getWindow(applet) always throws JSException with no message.

I am looking for any possible reasons for this failure. We have an applet that runs fine in Microsoft VM on IE. As soon as we upgrade to use Java Plugin 1.4 and up, it stopped working because of the JSException being thrown when call is made to JSObject.getWindow(Applet).
MAYSCRIPT parameter is set, applet is signed. Everything compiles fine.
I also tried converting our HTML using HTMLConverter. But that didn't help.
I spent last two days trying everything suggested on this forum regarding this problem, with no success.
Does it matter where the call to getWindow is made? In our case, we pass our Applet as a constructor parameter of another Java class.
eg. in method actionPerformed() of my Applet class I have:
MyJavaScript myJs = new MyJavaScript(this);
myJs.callScript();
And MyJavaScript looks like this:

OK, I think I know what our problem was. We overwrite our Applet's getAppletContext() method. And JSObject.getWindow(applet) calls this method internally.
If I return super.getAppletContext(), everything works fine.
Still, don't understand why it works in IE's Microsoft VM.

Communicating between Applets on same web browser page.

Global context indeed. Your Applet will have a getAppletContext() method which returns an... AppletContext! And that has a getApplet(String) method which gets a reference to some other applet in the same context. The API documentation for that method contains more information than what I've posted here.

Redirect from within the applet

Does anyone using jUpload from http://sourceforge.net/projects/jupload/?
I need to redirect the user to another page once the upload is successful, but I don't seem to be able to redirect it from within the executeThis() method in the AfterUploadSuccImp.java. It seems that getAppletContext() method only exists the JUploadApplet.java. It doesn't exist in AfterUploadSuccImp.java. I tried to pass it to AfterUploadSuccImp.java but it doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I realy need a help here.. I`ve been working all day on sending mail from applet. I didn`t succeed bcs of the security restrictions.
So I decided just to pass arguments into PHP page, which process them and send e-mail to me.
So here is the problem.. I need to send String variables througth POST into my php page. Now I`m using GET method, but I need more than 4000 characters.
My actual solution is:

Too much time in stop method - IE locks up

I have a problem where IE & Java Console are occasionally locking up when going from one page with an applet to another. I managed to narrow it down to a specific test case:
The basics are:
On a button press: Applet 1 calls getAppletContext().showDocument(url, newpage)
then getAppletContext().showDocument(closeurl, "_self")
closeurl is a html page that calls top.close in it's ONLOAD.
url goes to a page with the Applet 2.
next:
On a button press: Applet 2 calls getAppletContext().showDocument(url2, newpage)
then getAppletContext().showDocument(closeurl, "_self")
closeurl is a html page that calls top.close in it's ONLOAD.
url2 goes to a page with the Applet 1.
So basically I have 2 applets that on a button press launch another window with a different applet and close their own window.
Normally this is fine, and I can happily click away launching one applet right after the other.
However, if I add a loop in the stop() method, for example:

for *int i=0; i<100000; i++)
j+=i;
Just to slow down the stop(), then after a few clicks/applet loads, the new applet will come up partially, then lock up. The java console is also locked up, and I have to kill the IE process to recover.
Now in my code where I started having this problem, what I'm doing is notifying a server process that I'm dying from the stop method. It works fine most of the time, but every once in a while I get the lockup. I wrote the other test case as I was trying to narrow down the cause. I'm currently looking at minimizing the code in the stop() method (not that there was that much in the first place), but does anyone have any suggestions or possible reasons that this might occur?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update:
It appears that the lockup can still occur, even if I don't have anything in the stop method.
I seems more likely if I have the for loop in place, but since it's random it's hard to tell.
Ideas anyone?

Exception when use getAppletContext().showDocument(url);

I want to open a page using getAppletContext().showDocument(yourURL), but it troughs the following exception:

So my quiestion is: when do I have to use getAppletContext() and why is this exception is happening?

System.identityHashCode(getAppletContext()) questions

Hi,
I call showDocument(webpage with applet B) within applet A where A and B has equal codebase and archive attributes. Why do I get different results when calling System.identityHashCode(getAppletContext())? Are there any other context identifiers being equal in both contexts?

Well, AppletContext has a getApplets() method, so I'd suggest using that to see if both applets are in it.
As for comparing AppletContext objects...I suppose if you're going to do this, you should do it with .equals(), but I've never tried this, and I'm kind of confused how this will even show up. I mean, how do you get references to both applet objects except by doing something like AppletContext.getApplets()?

Setting window attributes on showDocument method

Can I set the new window attributes on showDocument(String url, "_blank") method invocation?
Like in JavaScript: window.open("example.html", "status=no, address=no, scrollbars=no...")
