  • When will JDev ADF training be available?

    The JDev ADF toolset appears to be very powerful and the tutorials are helpful in getting started. The documentation is a useful reference. But for those of us who are new to this toolset, particularly when working in a very small group, some form of formal training is necessary in order to build a real application. What plans does Oracle have to make such training available? I hope there is something on the horizon.

    Thanks Grant for the references. Yes, I'm a beginner, not a Java programmer, not a Forms developer, but have used Designer and I come from the database side. ADF for Forms developers is easier to understand than some of the Java centric documentation. And I have discovered the Oracle Magazine articles which appear useful. I haven't tried them out yet but will do so shortly and I noticed that you have links to the articles on the J2EE Development for Forms/Designer developers page (except possibly for the most recent ones). I've gone thru all of the relevant tutorials, demos and documentation. The Business Components are not a problem and ADF Faces seem OK; it's the task flows, navigation and binding that are most challenging. Thanks for pointing out these resources.

  • How to get multiple values using HttpSession.getAttribute(java.lang.String)

    Hey Guys
    I'm trying to find a way to get multiple values using the following method
    HttpSession.getAttribute(java.lang.String)
    Here's the scenerio. Its a already written application and now i'm trying to make some changes. earlier in the jsp page a combo box was used and value was retrieved in the servlet using the getAttribute method of Session. Now I'm using a html multiple selection list and have to retrieve all the values selected in the list in the servlet. Can anyone please suggest me how to do that. HTTPRequest class has a method getParameterValues which will let me do that but i have to do is using HTTPSession.
    Thanks for your time to read this

    I'm not sure what you are trying to do. You can only use session.getAttribute to retrieve something that has already been stored in the session with a previous setAttribute. If you need to store multiple values under one attribute name using setAttribute, you can store an array, or an ArrayList or whatever type of Collection you want. The request.getParameterValues method is the only way you can retrieve form parameters than can have multiple values. If the servlet hasn't already processed these parameters and put them into the session for you, you have to use request.getParameterValues.

  • Jdev+ADF Mobile : Error java.lang.NullPointerException,need global variable

    hi, i am using jdeveloper version 11.1.1.1.0.
    i try to get value of field "id" from a table "customer" from input value from "username" and "password" form in welcome / login page.
    the value of field "id" that logged on will be used for further operation like determine relationship with other table for showing data.
    to accomplish that, i create a new java class "bean.java"
    the content is simple, just a few variable like : eeid,eeuser,eepass, and more else.
    each variable have accessors.
    after create "bean.java", i register that class to faces-config.xml in managed beans tab. i give it description like below :
    - name : beanku
    - class : mvc.bean
    - scope : session
    to login, i check the login button with code like this :
    public String cmdSigninee_action() throws ClassNotFoundException, SQLException {
    String tuser = (String) inputUseree.getValue(); --> value of username
    String tpass = (String) inputPassee.getValue(); --? value of password
    bean ong = (bean) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getSessionMap().get("beanku"); --> it's ok here
    ong.setSeeid("testing"); --> here is the error
    i got an error message like shown below :

    anyone can help me with those errors? i just need global variable, so i can use it for check relationship with other table.
    or if anyone of you can give me another way to get the value of field "id" from a table?
    thank you so much before! and i am sorry if my english is bad.

    If you select the JSP page in the graphical stuts-config.xml overview in JDeveloper, you should see the properties of the JSP page in the property inspector. One of those properties defines the Java class that handles the action/forwarding/etc.
    Then you should create a new Java-class that extends the original action handling class. Change the property in the graphical stuts-config.xml overview in JDeveloper to this new class.
    Then add an event attribute to the submitbutton element in the form of your JSP page, e.g. seeDetails.
    In your newly created class you can then create a new method: onSeeDetails. This method should be invoked when the submit button is pressed and the form is submitted.
    In the ADF ToyStore demo there are some examples of Java classes that extend the standard action handler. There in the ViewController project.

  • Deploying a jdev adf app on standalone weblogic issues

    Dear all,
    Sorry for my post which is very long but i will try to give you all information.
    I am currently developing a full stack ADF application (with BC4J to access the database) using Jdev 11g last release (5407)
    When working in JDev, my application is running perfectly.
    Now i am facing several issues regarding the deployment on a standalone weblogic.
    * 1st problem: deploying from Jdev into a remote weblogic server *
    If i try to deploy on a separate machine from jdeveloper directly using a server connection, then deployment failed with message in jdev console:
    [04:53:47 PM] Weblogic Server Exception: weblogic.deploy.api.internal.utils.DeployerHelperException: The source 'C:\Temp\lara_abcf.ear' for the application 'Lara ABCF' could not be loaded to the server 'http://MYSERVER:7001/bea_wls_deployment_internal/DeploymentService'.
    Read channel closed
    [04:53:47 PM] See server logs or server console for more details.
    [04:53:47 PM] weblogic.deploy.api.spi.exceptions.ServerConnectionException: [J2EE Deployment SPI:260041]Unable to upload 'D:\jdev-workspace\LaraABCF\deploy\lara_abcf.ear' to 't3://MYSERVER:7001'
    [04:53:47 PM] #### Deployment incomplete. ####
    [04:53:47 PM] Deployment Failed
    I tried to look into weblogic logs and see nothing helping me to found the problem. Any idea?
    I then tried to create a local domain on my workstaion and now deploying from JDeveloper works.
    I created an EAR file from Jdev and deployedthe EAR from the weblogic web console.
    From both method i was facing the same issue:
    * 2nd problem: deploying an application with a datasource access into a standalone weblogic *
    - Using the default configuration, i successfully deployed the application using weblogic console but the application stay on "Prepared" state in the console. Starting it from the console the application failed to start after the deployment. The error message display in the top of the web page is :
    Error weblogic.common.ResourceException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: weblogic.common.ResourceException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: weblogic.common.ResourceException: No credential mapper entry found for password indirection user=lra_abcf for data source laraABCFConn
    -I found an entry in the forum (What does this message mean? which give an hint to solve this issue:
    Modify the application properties from JDev and uncheck the option: "Auto Generate and Synchronize weblogic-jdbc.xml Descriptors During Deployment", rebuild and deploy the application.
    I try this method and teh application successfully starts but does not work: stacktrace in weblogic console indicates that BC4J does not work properly and i think that database connection are not up. The error Message:

    * Final question:
    Is it possible to develop an application using a local database connection for BC4J in jdev and an external datasource when the application is deployed on a standalone weblogic without modifying the source code?
    The real issue about this is : is there a step by step tutorial explaining how to develop a simple ADF11g application using BC and deploy it successfully on a weblogic server?
    Thanks for your help

    found a workaround:
    * create a datasource on the weblogic side, mapped into the JNDI tree
    * create a new configuration in the appmodule with a new datasource mapped to this jndi reference
    * modify the databinding of my page to use this app module configuration
    * deploy again the application and this works
    but now my application does not work in jdeveloper because it seeks to a datasource in JNDI. I must revert to old settings for development en switch to these new settings to deploy on the server. Very annoying...
    Thanks for you help :)

  • ##BUG## Jdev/ADF/UIX/SCM

    I'm developing an UIX application with jdev 9.0.5.1, adf and SCM to versioning. And i've been lost half day to catch an problem, that i think, was a scm bug.
    Explaining :
    I've create a uix page and, drag and drop a VO from data control to create input form. Then i put an commit button, in same way. I look to page struture on tab UIModel and there is commit, i look to structur on my UIModel.xml and there is. So i think that all ok. But when i run and try to save changes the messagebox show java.lang.nullPointerException, and on log nothing appear. Only an strange message "Warning: using introspection to lookup return value from :Commit.". Then when i try to see xml source from uimodel, there is no commit dccontrol. I've to do manual check out from uimodel.xml and to all again. I think that scm must do it by his self.

    In case you have access to Metalink, could you please check Note 300714.1 and see if it relates to your case ?

  • JDev ADF Faces and XML publisher integration

    Hi,
    I have an ADF Faces / BC project which I want to integrate XML Publisher for reporting and output purposes.
    Following this note by Deepak Vohra http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/vohra-jdev-xmlpub.html (which was incredibly helpful by the way)
    So far it's looking very promising but I have a few unknowns with the design.
    1. The database connection.
    In the examples a JDBC connection is opened (and actually forgotten to be closed!). I would like to utilise the AM pooling mechanisim rather than a seperate open/close situation. How do i properly reference/use the pooled AM java.sql.Connection?
    2. Output
    The examples write the PDF (what i am using) to the file system. Is it possible to write this to the browser response stream using a JSP or servlet? My preference is NOT to produce PDF's on the middle tier file system if possible. Need some guidance here.
    thanks and regards,
    Brenden

    Output may be set to an OutputStream with the FOProcessor method

  • Compatibility JDev-ADF and IE

    Hi guys,
    I'm getting an error with my application. It seems to be related to IE configuration or maybe the way the pages are built, but the thing is that it's working perfectly in FireFox, and in IE (in every single version of IE) I'm getting the following errors (javascript errors...).
    I'm using JDev 11g R1, deploying in WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.2.0.
    note: in terms of confidentiality, I used host_name, port and App_root, instead of real values

    Please, any helop you could shed on this issue, would be highly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Juanma.

    Thank you Shay, Dave,
    I tried to upload to both 11.1.1.2.0 and 11.1.1.3.0 but then I get a problem with the MDS namespace and I can't even deploy the application on the server.
    Besides, I'd need to use JDev 11.1.1.1.0 as long as it is the development tool in the client.
    Dave, did u check if all the PCs you tested it in had the same IE version?
    Any suggestion/idea..?
    Thank you very much in advance

  • Java or ADF Error in 10.1.3

    I found a strange behaviour using JDev 10.1.3 Prod.
    I've a class MyViewRowImpl wich extends ViewRowImpl, ViewRowImple implements (if I'm not wrong) Row.
    My class implements, also, an interface InViewRow wich extends Row.
    I've e method in a class, say xxx, wich has 2 signatures
    xxx(Row riga) and xxx(Object oggetto).
    In 10.1.2.1 (Jdk 1.4.2.6) it choosed the correct signature (the Row signature) now, in JDev 10.1.3 (Jdk 1.5.0.5 standard) it chooses the Object (wrong) signature.
    The only workaround I found is to define egain, in my class, "implements Row".
    Is it a jdk problem ? Is it a ojvm problem ? or is it a Adf problem ?
    Does anyone know any cleaner workaround ?
    Tks
    Tullio

    Solved the problem..
    ora:processXQuery( )
    Added the jars from the em console and restarted.

  • An invitation to help with a JDev ADF Methodology "for the masses" at OOW08

    You can easily tell when a tool has matured to being a productive environment. Software developers move from playing and learning features, to supporting production systems and discussing best practices and development methodologies to ensure the success of their next project.
    Oracle Technology Network is happy to announce that Oracle Fusion Middleware ACEs and ACE Directors will be gathering at the Oracle Open World 08 Unconference to discuss just this, to start collaborating on producing an ADF Methodology for JDeveloper. The goal to produce Oracle Wiki pages capturing the ACEs' discussions, their thoughts, their experiences in what needs to be done for a successful ADF project.
    Please join them to share your experiences and concerns in what should be outlined in such an ADF methodology. More information will be posted on this Oracle Wiki page. Please ensure to check back regularly for updates.
    (apologies for the cross post)

    And in the last week we've talked about the orchestration of application workspaces with a view to 11g's Task Flow feature. If you're not participating, you're missing out on some great discussions on how to put together your JDev applications.

  • Jasper report in Jdev adf

    dear all,
    i'm now trying to integrate jasper report in ADF..
    and i'm try to code this code at bean..but its error..
    public void runOracleReport(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
    JRBeanCollectionDataSource ds = new JRBeanCollectionDataSource(PopulateBean.createBeanCollection());
    Map parameters = new HashMap();
    parameters.put("branchval", getBranchId());
    try
    InputStream input = new FileInputStream(new File("C:\\Users\\user\\.ireport\\4.7.0\\config\\Templates\\Report\\GenerateOfferLetter.jrxml"));
    OutputStream os = new FileOutputStream(new File("C:\\Users\\user\\Desktop\\ICEMS\\Report\\offerLetter.pdf"));
    JasperDesign jasperDesign = JRXmlLoader.load(input);
    JasperReport jasperReport = JasperCompileManager.compileReport(jasperDesign);
    JasperPrint jasperPrint = JasperFillManager.fillReport(jasperReport, parameters, conn);
    JasperExportManager.exportReportToPdfStream(jasperPrint, os);
    JasperViewer.viewReport(jasperPrint, false);
    catch (JRException e) {e.printStackTrace();}
    catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}
    is it any connection code that i have to write..
    Thank you

    thank you very2 much..it helps me al lot..
    2 questions taht i confused:
    1: Is it query at adf must be same at query jasper?
    2: Is it this code is valid code when i want to call more than parameters:
    Map parameters = new HashMap();
    parameters.put("branchval", getBranchId());
    parameters.put("degreeVal", getDegreeId());
    parameters.put("intakeVal", getIntakeId());
    parameters.put("typeOfferVal", getTypeOfferId());
    parameters.put("jasperParamenterName", "ParameterValue"); Used if you want to pass a parameter to a jasper report
    JasperPrint print = JasperFillManager.fillReport(report, parameters, conn);
    Thank you

  • Jdev ADF -- Has anyone tried a workspace with 30 - 40 tables?

    Hi,
    Since we found out that trying to access from one workspace to another is not going to be easily implemented in Jdev, we have to put all the tables and JSPs in one workspace. we will need to create a workspace with 30 - 40 tables and 50 - 60 JSPs. Does anyone have any experience with it? Or anyone has any idea if it is possible. Is the performance going to be acceptable? Any idea is deeply appreciated.
    Regards,
    Annie

    Annie,
    We have workspaces with this number of tables (slightly more, I believe), and more than that number of JSPx's
    No problems with performance at all. It's quite acceptable.
