GetConnection with no user or pass on oracle driver

I am connecting to an Oracle DB using the thin oracle driver:
Connection newConn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbUrl, user, password);
this works fine, but now I want to connect to a db which has no user or password!
I tried empty Strings like :
Connection newConn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbUrl, "", "");
or null like:
Connection newConn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbUrl, null, null);
but in all this cases I receive the ErrorMessage: "Invalid Arguments"!
Do you know what's the problem with this driver or a workaround?
Lot of Thanks,
Maria

thanks Cardwell,
but I knew that and I tried all the 3 ways to connect ( with user & passwors, with url only and with the info struct ) but you allways need a user and password.
i.e.if I want to connect with the url only I would need to write in the url the user/passw:
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:userxxx/passxxx@host:port/service");
I just want to let user passw empty because I don't have some...
Is there nobody with the same problem ???
Thanks for help!

  • Patch and administer oracle with different user id other than "oracle" user

    Hi Friends,
    This is question about oracle on Windows. Can we patch and administer all parts of oracle with differnt user id than one from which we installed?
    Example, If we install an oracle from user "oracle" than can we install patches or other admin work including backup and everything with user "a" ,"b"?
    Doen't it need to be a same user for pacthing and other critical administration work?
    help me understanding this with an example.
    Thanks in advance.

    Its always good to patch Oracle with the same user from which you installed the user. Oracle sets certain permissions or modifies the DCOM settings when you install the Oracle from a certain user which would not be same for other user. So It is always recommended to use the same user for patching.

  • Connecting to Oracle db with correct user and pass

    OK, Hi, I'm New with java script and here's what I have:
    1- A user login.
    - Once he's authentified he can travel trought the pages.
    2- Each user has special responsabilities
    - So when we execte as request ton the oracle db we connect using a certain db user (and password)
    Now what I need to know is:
    How do poeple usually take that user (and password)
    without hard-coding it in the connection string...
    I know this question may seem weird.. and incomplete, but the only reason is because i'm new with this language and I'm missing some information I have read many tutorials and PDF's but I hope some body can just give me an idea about this.
    Powel [;)]

    Hi,
    I think the easiest way is like this:
    in firstJsp.jsp
    <form action="secondJsp.jsp">
    <input
    type="text"
    name="userName"
    />
    <input
    type="password"
    name="userPassword"
    />
    </form>
    in secondJsp.jsp:
    User name <%=request.getParameter("userName")%>
    User password <%=request.getParameter("userPassword")%>
    I mean, in secondJsp.jsp you will allready have name and password as request parameters.
    But it's not the good and smart way of doing it. If you have to create just few pages then OK, but it doesn't seems so (i think nobody uses ORACLE for small applications).
    You should look at Struts framework. That brilliant thing to create such applications.
    Hope it helps.
    good luck

  • Cannot Upgrade to 9860 With the Users Folder Redirected to Another Drive

    I tried doing the update to 9860 and received an error message that I could not run the Windows Technical Preview because my "Program Files or Users folder has been redirected to another partition". This is indeed the case (my Users folder
    was redirected to my other hard drive to save space on the SSD during setup), but if Windows is running fine, why is this not a valid configuration?
    I've seen a complicated method to solve this issue and will do that to get the upgrades unless this can be addressed in the updater :)

    Hi Fumarin,
    This  is not the new issue in current build. Actually, Microsoft has gave the reminder before:
    Caution Using the ProgramData setting to redirect folders to a drive other than the system volume will block your ability to upgrade to future versions of Windows.
    By changing the default location of the user profile directories or program data folders to a volume other than the system volume, you cannot service your Windows installation. Any updates, fixes, or service packs cannot be applied to the installation.
    We recommend that you do not change the location of the user profile directories or program data folders.
    See this article in Windows 8.1:
    You encounter an error when trying to install Windows 8.1 due to redirecting the Users or Program Files folder to another partition

  • NWA - User ID & Pass problems

    Hello,
    I have tried to log on at SAP Netweaver Administrator but it is impossible.
    I know that I am using the correct user id and pass because I have worked with NWA some days ago.
    I can logon in Portal options 'System Information' and 'Web Services Navigator' with the same user but when I try to logon in 'SAP Netweaver Administrator' or 'User Management' it does not work. Also, I can to access to J2EE Engine Visual Administrator with the same user.
    Additionaly, when I try to logon with that user and pass, the message 'User authentication failed' does not appear. That's indicates it is the correct user id and pass but it does not work.
    I remember that, in the last changes, I deleted the entries in the TicketKeyStore (J2EE Engine Visual Administrator --> NWP --> Server --> Services --> Key Storage) Could it be the problem?
    Please, anybody can help me?
    I am looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
    Best regards,

    Hello,
    Finally, the problem is solved.
    I have configured the certificates in the Ticket KeyStore, that's the quid!!. I used 'DiagTool' tool for review log files and solve the problem. It's very useful and interesting tool...
    To create a correct Portal Certificate:
        1.1 Log in to the Visual Administrator
        1.2 Choose Server --> Services --> KeyStorage --> TicketKeystore
        1.3 Delete SAPLogonTicketKeypair-cert and SAPLogonTicketKeypair
        1.4 Choose Create (Create button in the Entry field) and type in the following information:
            a. mark Store Certificate
            b. Common Name: Your  (just example)
            c. Entry Name: SAPLogonTicketKeypair
            d. Store Certificate: Mark it
            e. Key Length: 1024
            f. Algorithm: DSA
            g. Press Generate
    Now you will have two entries in the TicketKeyStore:SAPLogonTicketKeypair and SAPLogonTicketKeypair-cert
    If anybody have the same problem, I recomend to review the Ticket KeyStoore (Visual Administrator) and user 'Diagtool' tool.
    Thank you all.

  • Oracle Drive:  Icon Not Displayed in "My Computer"

    I have a couple of users who are using Oracle Drive, and they have no problem connecting, and they have the "Open Explorer window after connection" option selected. However, if they accidentally close the Explorer window, and try to go back into "My Computer" and find the icon for the drive to open it, it's not displayed. However they are actually still connected to the drive. Both of these users are running WinXP, SP2, and have all current Windows updates, patches, etc. We also have about 20 other users with the same OS and environment who are not having this problem. All of these users are in a domain controller (Windows Active Directory Server 2003) environment. This is not a huge issue, but are there any ideas as to why this is happening?

    try to check with some one from microsoft as this error happens even with a local driver under windows. Or u can re-install windows again!!

  • Problem opening reports with a user in the Oracle Directory.

    I have already followed all the steps in the user's guide to run reports with a user in the Oracle Directory.
    I accessed the enterprise security manager and created the mandatory xml publisher roles, besides I created another role. I added user A to the new role I created.
    I accessed then the administrator tab in XML publisher. I went to roles and the role I created was there. When I tried to add a folder. I'm able to add the folder there. I click on apply and then when I enter in the security Settings again the folder is not there anymore.
    I get the following error in the log:
    [021207_103218621][][EXCEPTION] oracle.apps.xdo.servlet.resources.ResourceNotFoundException: /opt/oracle/infra2/j2ee/home/xmlpublisher
    /Admin/Security/security.xml
    When I access xml publisher with the user A, who belongs to the new role I'm working with, I'm not able to see any folder, nor anything else.
    Do you have any ideas about what could be going wrong?
    Thanks,

  • Completely avoid passing of Oracle user informations thru http

    Hi friends,
    I am using Oracle 10g Application Server & Oracle 10g Forms & Report services. But I have to pass all the parameters thru a query String. So the problem is all the endusers can view the Database details by taking the properties.
    #) I want to set the Database Logon information some where in any confiruration file and this should read when calling forms. so that i can avoid passing of Database user informations. Is there any way to configure like this?
    #) Multiple applications are running on Oracle AS and each applications are using defferent schema. How can I set the different User Informations in the configuration file.
    I want to completely avoid passing of Oracle user informations thru http.
    thanks & regards
    Lakmal

    Hello Lakmal,
    As I said, you can edit formsweb.cfg and a user parameter section. For example, lets take yur sample url:
    add this section to formsweb.cfg:
    [change]
    userid=lakmal/mabil@ewis
    form=change.fmx
    note:
    it is better to make the edit at EM console itself.
    Then when you will run the form use this url:
    http://dunhinda.com/forms90/f90servlet?config=change
    The url has been shortened and your username and password is hidden.
    and if your user would run diffeent forms, you can drop the form=change.fmx and speficify form name in the url like
    section in formsweb.cfg
    [lakmal]
    userid=lakmal/mabil@ewis
    then the url will now be:
    http://dunhinda.com/forms90/f90servlet?config=change&form=formname.fmx

  • How to verify the user information pass by the form with a stored procedure?

    Hi,
    I would like to know how to verify user information pass by the form with a stored procedure.
    I want make a portal which accepts to new user registration, but I want verify the new user's informations (like the name don't contain a number etc).
    Thanks for your help
    regards
    jla

    Hi Samson,
    You can use the UI API to do this. You can catch the form_ADD event and then validate the input from the users. You can even block the event from completing (and stop the document from being added) if your code finds some incorrect data using the bubbleEvent functionality.
    I don't have one specific example to show you, but if you look at some of the SDK samples (for example C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One SDK\Samples\COM UI\VB.NET\02.CatchingEvents) to see how to work with events, you can then create your own validation to ensure the users data is valid.

    I am having some issues with connecting to Apex Listener via SQL Developer. I get "cannot connect to connection" when I attempt to connect.
    I do get apex pages (when I use the Glassfish default port - it doesn't seem to take the specified port which is defined as 7788 in the apex.properties at the config.dir location). The port specified in apex.properties is only used by Standalone Mode, the port that GlassFish uses is configured by GlassFish, not Listener.
    I have defined the user via the war config (which is written to the credentials file), and added the users under default config > file realm in Glassfish.You only need to do the former, doing the latter should have no effect, I would remove the user in the GlassFish file realm, to avoid causing confusion.
    I wonder if anyone has had a similar issue?
    Ensure you have spelt the role name correctly when setting up the user, any typos (it is case sensitive) and it won't match the role, and will therefore refuse access.
    You have disabled SSL verfication as well? (If you are not using SSL)

    If neither of those work, try turning on logging in the Listener to see if the request is even reaching Listener (It sounds like it's not even connecting TBH).

    Hi,
    It is possible to install database (oracle) with one user and client with another one (oraclnt) on the same machine ?
    I did with the same user (oracle) on diferent homes without problems.
    Thanks

    It is possible to install database (oracle) with one
    user and client with another one (oraclnt) on the
    same machine ?On Unix/Linux I often do that. You may have to work around with some permissions. For example, on my Linux test machine I installed DB 10g and Forms/Reports services under two different OS users, both members of dba group, and I had to change permissions on oraInventory directory to give write permissions to dba group.
    Using one OS user and different Oracle Homes is the "standard" procedure.

  • Run the startup script (start and stop) with a user other than oracle

    hi
    I wrote a script that stops and start oracle. the connection to the db was done : sqlplus "as sysdba".
    The script works fine if oracle user runs it. however, I need another user to run this script also. The script does not run with this user even though I added it to the oracle group.
    any idea please?

    try the -c option with the su like this:
    su - oracle "-c scriptyouwrote.sh"

    Thanks in advanced. If you're writing your own partner application, then you are correct to get the user information from the output variables
    from the parse_url_cookie procedure. You should then set the information you want to keep track of in the cookie, or combination
    of cookie and persistent storage in the database. Take care of the security implications while doing this.
    On subsequent calls to your application, the user info should be obtained from the cookie and the database, if you
    are using a combination of the cookie and database storage to keep your info.
    The owa_cookie.get routine is used to read the cookie, which is generated with owa_cookie.send.
    These routines work fine, when invoked correctly.
    If you are having trouble with them, you're probably not using the calls properly.
    The following code provides an example of how to use the owa_cookie calls...
    create or replace package testcookie
