Getting a button to link to a frame

I'm really new at this, sorry! I've inherited a website made with dreamweaver, with this button code in it
<input name="BUTTON" type=BUTTON style="background-color:#2f555f;color:#FFFFFF;font-size:10pt;font-family:Courier New;" onclick="javascript:location.href='../../Processing/irix/irix_proc_home.htm';" onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#4cabc3'" onmouseout="this.style.backgroundColor='#2f555f'" value="Irix Brain Imaging Processing Protocols" />
My boss has now asked me to make frames in the website. I can link standard links to the mainframe with target= _mainframe, no problem. But I want to make this button display from my left menu frame to my mainframe.I've tried replacing just about everything in the code with mainframe but still, you click it, leftframe every time. As I've inherited this code, I'm not even sure this is java, mind you, I'm learning this html stuff from scratch...
Thanks for any help you can give me!
Amy

Nope, that is not Java. Try to find a decent html and javascript tutorial.

  • Button that links to later frame and also stops music from playing   in background

    I have some audio playing that I want to stop when a user
    clicks on a
    button that links to a later frame.
    Does this look correct?
    SoundMixer.stopAll();
    Btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick1);
    function buttonClick1(event:MouseEvent):void{
    gotoAndStop(30);

    I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you
    please show me
    the syntax?
    Thanks!!!!!!

  • How do I get my buttons to link back to a Symbol?

    Hi all -- I am an extreme newbie at Flash and AS3....I've just been reading all I can this past week and trying to put
    together what I had hoped was a simple project in flash for our Website banner. I'll try to describe my project and the part that I am stuck at.
    Here is our current website: http://www.sherware.com
    You'll see a large green banner near the top of the page that advertises one of our products. In Flash, I have created a rotating banner with five images like the one shown on our site. I have it rotating on an 8-second basis, and I have it so that when someone clicks on my invisible button (the whole banner part) that it goes to that product's web page.
    So far, so good. I've also added five small buttons in the bottom right corner, so that someone can hover over them and go back to one of the rotating images if they missed what was shown, etc.
    I have figured out how to create the buttons and have them shown red, when hovered on each layer. The part that I am stuck at, is I don't know how once I write my action for each button, to have them link back to one of these rotating banner images. I know this is possible, I just don't know AS3 or any programming for that matter to understand what my options are for the function script.
    I have each one set up as an instance so that I can add the EventListener when they click on it, I just don't know what to put other than a URL, since that is all I am familiar with. If you know how to get me to link my project to this forum so you can see the actual project, please let me know!
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Put a label in the begininng frame for each image and use those labels in the code. Let's say for that code you showed you add a frame label "red_btn" where you want that button to take you...
    function gotoBanner1(event:MouseEvent):void
         gotoAndPlay("red_btn");
    Red1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoBanner1);

  • How do I get a button to launch a new frame within a frame?

    I'm very new to Java and am using Jdeveloper9i.
    I am writing a stand alone application that has a frame with fields e.g. name, emailid etc and have provided a "Modify" button, which I want to call up another frame/panel with text fields to allow the user to make changes to name, emailid etc.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction of some sample code that will do this?

    I think you want something like this...
    // Add an action listener to your button where ever you do your setup
    myButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
      public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
        buttonPressed();
    // Then define the buttonPressed method() something like this
    public void buttonPressed() {
      Frame newFrame = new Frame("Modify details");
      newFrame.setSize(100, 100);
      newFrame.setVisible(true);
      // now add the rest of your objects to your frame
    }Rob.

  • How to create buttons and link them to various views in Dashcode?

    I am a big noob so try to make it easy to understand. How do get a button to link to a different view in Dashcode?
    e.g.
    Button 1 would link to view 1
    Button 2 would link to view 2 and so on.

    I Worked it out!
    I just added this code which is provided in the library.
    // Set the current view of a StackLayout
    var stackLayout = document.getElementById('stackLayout').object; // Replace with id of StackLayout
    stackLayout.setCurrentView('view2'); // Replace with id of new view (or the view element itself)

  • Can't get my dropdown menu buttons to link to another scene.

    I can’t get my dropdown menu buttons to link to other scenes within the same Flash file.  The buttons are unresponsive during playback – as if no code were attached to it.  Here’s what I have as my AS2 code on the dropped button that is supposed to link to the "Published" scene/page:
    on(release){
    _root.gotoAndPlay("published", 1);
    I'm working with Actionscript 2.0 in Flash CS6.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hi kglab,
    I do get these compile errors:
    Scene=published, layer=Buttons, frame=1, Line 1 Statement must appear within on handler
    Scene=published, layer=Buttons, frame=1, Line 2 Statement must appear within on handler
    But, I think you are correct about the setInterval Loop.  On the home scene I’ve created a movie symbol which is set to call another swf file:
    loadMovie("frontSlideshow.swf", _root.movie1);
    This frontSlideshow.swf file has the following code in every 10 frames:
    this.stop();
    pause = function ()
                   play();
    clearInterval(pausei);
    pausei = setInterval(pause, 5000);
    This will pause the timeframe every 5 seconds before sliding to the next frame so that each image can be viewed.  It seems odd that the code from this subclass file would affect the timeframe of the main class/file where the “movie1” symbol is located.
    Best,
    Rob

  • Button in movie clip linking to next frame

    I've included a button in a movie clip on frame 1 of the main
    timeline. The button has a motion tween that ends on frame 76 of
    the movie clip. I want the button to link to frame 2 on the main
    timeline. However, when I test the movie, it cycles endlessly
    without stopping at the end of the movie clip to allow the user to
    click on the button.
    Here's the AS3 code I put on the Actions layer on Frame 76 of
    the movie clip:
    stop();
    link_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,link_btnClick);
    function link_btn(event:MouseEvent):void {
    gotoAndStop(2);
    Any ideas? It's for school and I need it done tonight or
    tomorrow morning by 8 a.m. Central. Yikes.

    I'm getting compiler errors S1061 and S1120 attached to code:
    link_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,link_btnClick);
    S1061:
    Call to a possibly undefined method addEventListener through
    a reference with static type Function.
    S1120:
    Access of undefined property link_btnClick.
    I don't know what the errors mean. Anybody?

  • Can submit buttons or links associated with post or get requests work on iPad's Adobe Reader?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to call a JSPs from a PDF file using submit buttons and links created dynamically in a Java (iText) code.
    All buttons and links work fine in my PC but no buttons or dynamically generated links work in my iPad (Adobe Reader 11.0.1).
    Could anyone please let me know in case a workaround exists for this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marcelo

    Michael,
    Thank you for your comment.
    I know it is not supported. But I’m wondering whether a workaround solution was implemented somewhere. I’m sure people are trying to submit PDF’s data or even the full documents from their iPads without sending them as an e-Mail's attachement.

  • How to set the HOME link from two frame jsp page to no frame main page?

    Hi all,
    i have one main jsp page named as main.jsp.
    From the main.jsp, i can click the button and link to the twoFrame.jsp.
    This twoFrame.jsp have another two different jsp inside the frame called Aframe.jsp and Bframe.jsp.
    i try to put HOME in the Aframe.jsp(one of the page inside twoFrame.jsp) but only the Aframe.jsp manage to link to main.jsp but the Bframe still there.
    My question is: How to set the HOME link button from this twoFrame.jsp to the main.jsp? what i want is from twoFrame.jsp(two frame) to main.jsp(no frame).
    rgds,
    Bryan523

    No offense, but this is basic HTML. You shuold look into learning HTML before getting too deep into JSP. Try this: http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp
    But as a more specific answer, you have to set a target for the link to the _parent of your frame:
    <a href="main.jsp" target="_parent">Home</a>

  • I can't get my Button to work?

    Hello everyone,
    I been trying to get my Button working, but I don't understand what's wrong. I've tried a bunch of stuff, each with failure. Can any of you guys help me out here? I know that it's a little bit of a mess, but for some reason, it gives me a NullPointerException when I execute it. If I comment out 4 lines of code, about the getContentPane, it works without making a button. Problem is, I want to keep the Button in there. What should I do?

    1) Swing related questions should be posted in the Swing forum
    2) Use the "code" formatting tags when posting code so the code is readable.
    3) Post [url http://www.physci.org/codes/sscce.jsp]Simple, Executable Sample that shows your problem. The code you posted uses non-standard API's so we can't execute your code to see the incorrect behaviour.
    4) Read the Swing tutorial on [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/button.html]How to Use Buttons. Or maybe the section on "How to Use Layout Managers" will solve your problem. Either way read the tutorial.

  • How to create text buttons that link to video?

    I've finally gotten around to trying DVD SP, and even though I read the whole manual, it's not at all clear if, or how, you can create text buttons that link to the video you want to play, without displaying a clip of that video in the button itself.
    I have no problem creating a text button, but I can't change the font, and editing is counter-intuitive, unlike iDVD. I'd use iDVD, but it doesn't accept .m2v files, and it seems to think that my 6 videos of about 43 minutes each are too large for a DVD+DL disc, so it won't let me burn it or save it as a disc image.
    Does anyone have a way out of this conundrum, or am I SOL?
    Mulder

    It really isn't that hard!
    As Drew said, go into your menu and click and drag to create a button rectangle. With the button highlighted, look in the property inspector at the bottom and type in the text that you want to use. Ensure that you 'include in button highlight' and then set the colour choice for selected and activated.
    What you get is a simple line of text which illuminates when you roll over it, and changes colour when you click on it.
    Once that is done, click on the button area again and set the target to go to the piece of video that you want to have play back.
    You should also set the menu call and end jump on that track to make sure your viewer can get back to the menu.
    Once that is done the menu will show as a simple piece of text (more buttons means more bits of text, and the first button will be highlighted by default) and no video will play until the button is activated.
    DVDSP is definitely a steeper learning curve than iDVD but for very good reasons. You get far greater control and access to far more advanced features in DVDSP. This means that some things will seem harder, whereas in fact they are just different and the process for achieving the result you want is different. Much of what you want to know is in the manual and also in the tutorials which came with the app. Failing that there are several good online spaces where you can find a lot more information... not least of which is right here, of course!

  • Javascript buttons and links no longer work in Firefox after latest update

    Whenever I try to use a javascript button or link, nothing happens, I just get a message in the bottom bar such as: "javascript:window.close();" telling me what the command is, but when I click on it, nothing happens. I cannot close windows in social security or in any other program using javascript. This has happened since the last upgrade to Firefox 11. I even tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling (using the Mozilla instructions to '''completely''' remove Firefox) a fresh Firefox eleven, to no avail. I made sure javascript was completely enabled in tools/options/content

    I have a similar problem like this. I dont know what the deal is but since some type of either add on upgrade or firefox upgrade i get notifications to install flash when i try to launch anything from google music. I did everything you can think of including uninstalling, reinstalling both the add on "No Script" Firefox itself, ran several diagnostic programs to ensure it wasnt any type of malware, reinstalled Adobe Flash 11, Verified Java version. I even tried to play music from google music in IE8 and that worked so its clearly Mozilla and its add ons. I disabled No Script and Google Music miraculously started working fine. This is pretty irritating considering I do everything in my power to ensure I dont get hit with any type of malware, virus, spyware, etc and No Script is definitely an Add on i like to use for that very reason since Firefox no longer supports the Norton Web Tracker add on. Any fix for this foolishness would be great, thanks!!

  • [CS3 JS] Get filename of image in a labelled frame

    Hi,
    I can easily get the content of a labelled text frame using
    var myString = app.documents[0].textFrames.item("myLabel").contents;
    Is is possible to get the name of an image placed into a similarly labelled graphic frame?
    One way I thought of doing this is to look at the parent frame of each link in the document and test to see if it is labelled "myLabel" and then get the name of the linked file.
    There must be a simpler way.
    simon Kemp

    You can create an array of all text frames labeled "myLabel" like this:
    myArray = app.documents[0].textFrames.item("myLabel").getElements()
    Then you can cycle through that array checking if an element has a graphics in it: if (myArray.graphics > 0)
