Getting Attriutes from servlet sessions

Hi currently doing a college project and im having problems with sessions, i cant seem to be able to put a value into the session and print it off from a different servlet. The project has a basic login page where the user enters a username and password and if it is verified it sends them to the main page, it is here i want to display the username of the user and on pages following on form this. Below is a sample of my session code.
//Servelt 1HttpSession session = request.getSession(true);
if(username != null)
                              session.setAttribute("username", username);
                                   //     passItOn(request, response, pathtoservlet);
          // Welcome the user into the system
                              out.println("</UL>");
     out.println("</BODY></HTML>");
     out.println("You are logged on as   " + username );
}//Servlet 2HttpSession session = request.getSession();
               //Enumeration enum = session.getAttributeNames();
               if (session.getAttribute(username) != null)
                    String str= (String) session.getAttribute("username");
                    out.println("Welcome  " + username );
                    }//Please help

if (session.getAttribute(username) != null)...That should be:
String username = (String) session.getAttribute("username");
if (username != null) ...
You're trying to get an attribute named whatever the value of the username variable is, not an attribute named "username".

  • How to deploy a VO Bind variable to get value from user session....

    Hello everbody...
    A JSF Page has a table based on VO with two parameters. One of this parameters I will pass by operation ExecuteWithParams.
    but the other parameter I need to pass a value from User session.
    Is that possible? How would I do that? I´m using jdev10.1.3
    Thankyou...

    When you created a binding for executeWithParams in your pageDef, the action binding should have had NamedData elements for each of the parameters. These would have been assigned values from a variableIterator up in the executables section. The parameter that gets its value from user input should be left alone. For the parameter that gets its value from the user session, change the EL expression that defines its NDValue attribute so that it references the session information that you want to use. This can be a sessionScope variable that you set earlier in the session, as Frank suggests, a property of a managed bean in session scope, or some other variable.

  • Getting response from Servlet in WDPJ

    Hello,
    I have been provided with an Servlet URL to get some details to be populated in an WebDynpro Application.
    How should i invoke the servlet url inside the webdynpro application?
    Regards
    Bobu

    Hi Bopu,
    I believe you could start from the WDProtocolAdapter, i.e.
    IProtocolAdapter protAdapter = (IProtocolAdapter)WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter();
    IRequest requestObj = protAdapter.getRequestObjectInternal();
    HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest)requestObj.getProtocolRequest();
    However, I believe a better approach is using the Application Integrator, see http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b0446f5c-fcb9-2910-e082-88becbe3ddc9 for a thorough explanation

  • Getting ResultSet from Servlet

    How can I send a ResultSet to a JSP page from a servlet? I tried to use the req.setAttribute("name", rs) and forward to JSP with RequestDispatcher, but I get this error in the JSP page when doing "ResultSet rs = request.getAttribute("nome")":
    incompatible types
    found : java.lang.Object
    required: java.sql.ResultSet
    As you can see, the resultset became a java.lang.Object. Is there a way to convert the object back to a ResultSet?

    [snip]
    As you can see, the resultset became a
    java.lang.Object. Is there a way to convert the object
    back to a ResultSet? not addressing whether it's a good idea to throw a ResultSet at a JSP or not...
    getAttribute returns an Object, you "convert" it back to what you stuffed in there by casting, as
    ResultSet rs = (ResultSet)request.getAttribute("nome");Good luck

  • RDS 2012 - Users sundely getting disconnected from their Session

    Hi There,
    At the moment my current setup is as follow.
    1x 2012 R2 ( RDS01 = Web, Gateway, Licensing and Broker )
    2x 2012 R2 ( RSH01 and RSH02 = Session Host )
    I have changed our DNS zone so our users can user the same url remote.mycompany.com from internal and external. our internal domain is mycompany.local.
    At the moment i have couple issues.
    if i run ( http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Change-published-FQDN-for-2a029b80) to use remote.mycompany.com, the clients wont be able to launch any remoteapp. I have overcome this by creating two A records (RDSfarm.mycompany.com and pointing the
    IP for Both session host then running the script to change to rdsfarm.mycompany.com) it works but users get certificate mismatch
    User are getting disconnected suddenly without any warning, despite my session settings are set to never,
    and going through event viewer, i can see the following.
    The winlogon notification subscriber <Sens> failed a notification event. Event id 6001
    The winlogon notification subscriber <TermSrv> failed a critical notification event. event id 004
    any help will be very appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Any further update regarding your case?
    In addition, you can refer below links for information.

    Service service failed at log on: Apparently W7 is no longer creating any user profile data other than username and picture.
    Hope it helps!

  • Can't get x509 from servlet filter?

    i have a filter and a jsp. currently, both the filter and the jsp attempt to pull the X509 certificate from the request and log it (eventually the filter will perform authentication and the jsp will be a web service). however...the filter is unable to get the certificate, whereas the jsp gets the certificate without problems. why is this? some code below:
    **** filter ****
    doFilter(...) {
    HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest)servletRequest;
    X509Certificate[] obj = (X509Certificate[]) request.getAttribute("java.security.cert.X509Certificate");
    but obj is always null. (i even enumerate the attributes - always empty)...
    **** jsp ****
    essentially the same X509Cert line as above, but obj contains the certificate.
    any ideas? i'm using oracle's app server, which uses a modified Apache HTTP server, if that makes a difference.
    thanks

  • How to get access via RMI from a session bean to a remote session bean?

    I have 2 J2EE applications in two different Sun Application Servers (8.0 PE). I would like to get access from one Session Bean "SB1" into Application A to Session Bean "BrickFacade" within Application B.
    My Java Code from "SB1":

  • Get blocker from the (self) deadlock trace file

    Hi,
    Recently I had an issue on a 10.2.0.4 single instance database where deadlocks were occurring. The following test case reproduces the problem (I create three parent tables, one child table with indexed foreign keys to all three parent tables and a procedure which performs an insert into the child table in an autonomous transaction):
    create table parent_1(id number primary key);
    create table parent_2(id number primary key);
    create table parent_3(id number primary key);
    create table child( id_c number primary key,
                       id_p1 number,
                       id_p2 number,
                       id_p3 number,
                       constraint fk_id_p1 foreign key (id_p1) references parent_1(id),
                       constraint fk_id_p2 foreign key (id_p2) references parent_2(id),
                       constraint fk_id_p3 foreign key (id_p3) references parent_3(id)
    create index i_id_p1 on child(id_p1);
    create index i_id_p2 on child(id_p2);
    create index i_id_p3 on child(id_p3);
    create or replace procedure insert_into_child as
    pragma autonomous_transaction;
    begin
      insert into child(id_c, id_p1, id_p2, id_p3) values(1,1,1,1);
      commit;
    end;
    insert into parent_1 values(1);
    insert into parent_2 values(1);
    commit;And now the action that causes the deadlock:
    SQL> insert into parent_3 values(1);
    1 row created.
    SQL> exec insert_into_child;
    BEGIN insert_into_child; END;
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00060: deadlock detected while waiting for resource
    ORA-06512: at "SCOTT.INSERT_INTO_CHILD", line 4
    ORA-06512: at line 1My question is: how can I determine which table the insert into CHILD was waiting on? It could be waiting on PARENT_1, PARENT_2, PARENT_3, a combination of them or even on CHILD if I tried to insert a duplicate primary key in CHILD. Since we have the full testcase we know that it was waiting on PARENT_3 (or better said, it was waiting for the "parent" transaction to perform a commit/rollback), but is it possible to determine that solely from the deadlock trace file? I'm asking that because to pinpoint the problem I had to perform redo log mining, pl/sql tracing with DBMS_TRACE and manual debugging on a clone of the production database which was restored to a SCN just before the deadlock occurred. So, I had to do quite a lot of work to get to the blocker table and if this information is already in the deadlock trace file, it would have saved me a lot of time.
    Below is the deadlock trace file. From the "DML LOCK" part I guess that the child table (tab=227042) holds a mode 3 lock (SX), all the other three parent tables have mode 2 locks (SS), but from this extract I can't see that parent_3 (tab=227040) is blocking the insert into child:

          ----------------------------------------Thank you in advance for any comments,
    Jure

    Hi Jonathan,
    thank you very much for your reply which more than answers my question. I think it actually clears a lot of doubts I had about TX locks, since your mentioning of "undo segment header transaction table" pointed me in the right direction for further research on this topic (honestly, I didn't know what's "behind" TX locks). So if I understood correctly, to determine which table is the blocker (in the testcase presented above), you have to have some kind of history of executed SQL statements (e.g. by mining redo logs)?
    The statement you wrote:
    At this point, and with your example, the waiting session is waiting on a TX (transaction) lock - this means it has not idea (and no interest) in the actual data involved, it is merely waiting for an undo segment header transaction table slot to clear. and the example with the savepoint you gave, made me think of some of the consequences of that behaviour. That is probably the reason why it is not possible to get the "blocker" table from v$lock (although sometimes it's possible to get it from v$session.row_wait_obj#) when a session tries to change a row another session holds in exclusive mode, e.g.:
    create table t1 (id number);
    insert into t1 values (1);
    commit;
    Session 126:
    SID = 126> update t1 set id=2 where id=1;
    1 row updated.
    Session 146:
    SID = 146> update t1 set id=2 where id=1;
    {session hangs}
    In a separate session:
    SQL> SELECT   CASE
      2                  WHEN TYPE = 'TM'
      3                     THEN (SELECT object_name
      4                             FROM user_objects
      5                            WHERE object_id = l.id1)
      6               END object_name,
      7                  SID, TYPE, id1, id2, lmode, request, BLOCK
      8          FROM v$lock l
      9         WHERE SID IN (126, 146)
    10     ORDER BY SID, TYPE, 1
    11  /
    OBJECT_NAME    SID TY        ID1        ID2      LMODE    REQUEST      BLOCK
    T1             126 TM      68447          0          3          0          0
                   126 TX     262153       4669          6          0          1
    T1             146 TM      68447          0          3          0          0
                   146 TX     262153       4669          0          6          0The only thing I can tell from this output is that session 146 is trying to get a TX lock in exclusive mode, and session 126 is blocking it, the reason of the blocking being unknown from this view alone.
    Since I'd like to get a better understanding on the mechanics behind this (e.g. why the blocked session can't know the segment that is waiting for, since it has to go to the same segment's data block to find the address of the undo segment header transaction table slot? ; can we get the content/structure of the transaction table in the data block - probably by making a block dump?), do you have any source where a more in depth explanation what happens "behind the scenes" is available (perhaps in Oracle Core?)? Some time ago I found a link on your blog http://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/2010/06/21/locks/ which points to Franck Pachot's article where he nicely explains the various locking modes: http://knol.google.com/k/oracle-table-lock-modes#. There I also found Kyle Hailey's presentation about locks http://www.perfvision.com/papers/09_enqueues.ppt where slide 23 nicely depicts what's going on when acquiring TX locks. Of course I'll try to search on my own, but any other source (especially from an authority like you) is more than welcome.
    Thank you again and regards,
    Jure

    Hi
    Iam getting error when i try to call a ejb method from servlet.Error is

    I build the application and deployed it successfully.Iam using IAS 6.O with windows NT 4.0.
    This is just a method which takes values from database and return as an array of bean to servlet.
    Any help on this.Thanks Shank

    Hi
    I was using the session bean.Your suggestion helped me a lot.Perfect.
    I debug my program and found that from ejbCreate()exception is getting.
    I was getting the datasource object thro ejb create() initialisation.
    Somehow the look up jndi which i mentioned was not interpretting from ejb-jar.xml ias-ejb-jar.xml and datasource ref .Due to this iam getting jndi Namenotfound exception which in turns to null pointer as datasource is getting null.
    when i hardcoded in the ejb the the jndi name for datasource it is working fine.Bit worried all the existing ejbs working with the xml referenced datasource and jndi,but when i added a new ejb with same properties it is failing to get the jndi name.

  • Get the Web users Clipboard text in Servlet session

    We have a small web application uses JSPs , Servlets and runs on Tomcat Server.
    We are trying to get the end web users ( browsers ) Clipboards copied text in our Servlets session.
    We know there is some AWT API to get the Clipboards copied data.
    java.awt.datatransfer.Clipboard clipboard = java.awt.Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getSystemClipboard();
    // Get data from clipboard
    java.awt.datatransfer.Transferable clipData = clipboard.getContents(clipboard);
    But if we use this piece of code in our servlet session, we always get the Clipboard text, which is copied on the Server. Not at the users / browsers.
    So, we wonder are there any ways or similar to get the Users clipboard text in that users session.
    Any help would be great.

    Its the same old story.
    Java code is only running on the server.
    At the client end all you can work with is HTML and javascript.
    With Internet explorer you can access clipboard data:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/author/dhtml/reference/objects/clipboarddata.asp?frame=true
    Grab it with javascript, put it into a hidden field, and submit the page.
    That will pass it as a request parameter to your jsp/servlet, and you can get at it that way.

  • How to get Multiple Values for a key from a session object?

    Hi,
    It might seem dumb but I am facing a problem here with the session object. I'll paste the session object's content from the netbeans "Local Variables" window for clarity -
    Name Type Value
    hsession StandardSessionFacade #66
    session LWSFSession #69
    inherited
    attributes Hashtable #80
    [0] Hashtable$Entry "cart"=>#115
    key String "cart"
    value DummyCart #115
    item null
    submit null
    v Vector
    [0] String Full Metal Jacket
    [1] String As Good As It Gets
    [2] String Tim
    What I want is to get the values "Full Metal Jacket", "As Good As It Gets" and "Tim" from the session obejct?
    The problem I am facing is that if I do a session.getAttribute("cart"), I'll get a single value in return. What will that value be? Will it be "item", "submit" or "v"? And if I want all the values in v above, how can I get them?
    Thanks.

    None of the above.
    HttpSession.getAttribute() will return what you put into it using HttpSession.setAttribute(). In your case, it'll return an Object which you need to cast to DummyCart. Then you can access the data in DummyCart using the API of the DummyCart class.

  • How can I get Inventory Org from the session in POR_CUSTOM_PKG?

    Hi, I want to find what inventory org a user is logged into when they add an item to their cart in iprocurement. Is there anything in the session, client info, profiles, etc. that I can get at from PL/SQL to tell me the inventory org ID?
    Thanks!

    When a person selects an inventory org, the MFG_ORGANIZATION_ID profile gets set. You can use that.
    However, you don't have to select inventory org when adding items to a card in iprocurement. So I am not sure how you can get it definitively.
