Getting BindException

I am getting BindException when i deploying my ear file in to weblogic 8.1 server and i am using IDE as Eclipse 3.1 ? can u please tell me why it is coming?
java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind
     at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketBind(Native Method)
     at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.bind(PlainSocketImpl.java:331)
     at java.net.ServerSocket.bind(ServerSocket.java:318)

     at java.net.ServerSocket.<init>(ServerSocket.java:97)
     at com.marketfusion.daemon.RemoteApplicationServer.run(RemoteApplicationServer.java:28)

This method com.marketfusion.daemon.RemoteApplicationServer.run() tries to open a socket on a port that is already in use. What port that is I can't tell without seeing the code.

  • BindException on client Socket?

    When opening many client sockets under win2k, I am getting BindExceptions. This is without specifying any particular local port. The total number of simultaneous sockets open is only around 14 or 15, but thousands are being opened in a 1-2 minute period.
    A BindException with a Socket(host, port) call seems counter-intuitive. I would assume that the OS is suppose to open it using an unused local port.
    From my testing, it appears that the java.net.Socket() class only obtains local ports from the 1024-5000 port range. It seems to go through the range and wrap around a couple of times before the BindExceptions pop up.
    Note that this appears to be the correct port range to allocate from based on various documentation, even though an equivalent program written in C does not seem to limit itself to that range (and does not exhibit the binding problem).
    If I set the windows registry entry of MaxUserPort to a higher number, it takes longer for the BindException to occur since it has more ports to utilize. However, the problem doesn't go away.
    Has anyone else seen this issue and come up with a solution? (Looping on the socket creation does not seem to be a very good long term solution)
    Attached is a simple program which demonstrates the issue by making multiple HEAD requests to a webserver.
    SockTest.java:
    public class SockTest
         public static void main(java.lang.String[] args)
              int i;
              for (i = 0; i < 14; i++)
                   SockTestThread thread = new SockTestThread();
                   thread.start();
    }SockTestThread.java:
    public class SockTestThread extends java.lang.Thread
         private void runTransaction(java.lang.String hostname, int port)
              try
                   java.net.Socket sock;
                   java.io.PrintStream out;
                   java.io.InputStream in;
                   java.lang.String request = "HEAD / HTTP/1.0\n\n";
                   byte[] response = new byte[4096];
                   sock = new java.net.Socket(hostname, port);
                   out = new java.io.PrintStream(sock.getOutputStream());
                   in = sock.getInputStream();
                   java.lang.System.out.println("Making request from local port " + sock.getLocalPort());
                   out.print(request);
                   out.flush();
                   in.read(response);
                   sock.close();
              catch (java.lang.Exception exception)
                   java.lang.System.out.println(exception);
         public void run()
              int i;
              for (i = 0; i < 1000; i++)
                   this.runTransaction("webserver", 80);
              java.lang.System.out.println("Finished thread");

    There is only ever 14 sockets open at any one time. You will notice that the 1000 connections are done serially for each of the 14 threads. So, a socket is opened and closed (released) after each connection.
    I'm not sure how a socket pool could be used/implemented here to help this. Also, up until the recent JDK1.4 release, there didn't appear to be a way to reuse a client socket. As far as I can tell, one can only create new sockets. Also, JDK 1.4 is not currently an option for me.
    While this sample program just connects to a single web server to demonstrate the issue, the real application will be connecting to many different servers (web and others) and needs to be able to process the information and move on after each connection.

    Hi Krikar,
    Make sure -
    1. IP is correct.
    2. Specified port is not in use

  • Web Service Client, BindException, Address already in use, saaj.SOAPExcepti

    Hello,
    Am caught up with an error and i can't get past it, need some help here.
    My application is a batch processing web service client, reads some input rows, sends web service requets, processes the responses and logs it.
    The application runs well in normal mode, but under load(more thread count), I get this wierd error and I can't make it go away.
    java.security.PrivilegedActionException: com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.SOAPExceptionImpl: Message send failed
    Caused by: java.net.BindException: Address already in use: connect
    at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Native Method)
    at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.doConnect(Unknown Source)
    I have properly closed the connections after each web service calls, but it still says Address in use. Please refer below for the complete stack trace and a piece of the code. Am using SAAJ and JWSDP and am not using AXIS api. I have searched the web but couldn't find any solutions.
    This is not an error that server is not closing connections properly as I was able to test with SOAPUI and LoadRunner with even higher threads and it ran without problems. SOAPUI and LoadRunner scripts were executed from the same client machine as my application uses. Please help.
    For each inputrow
    SOAPConnection connection = null;
    try
    SOAPConnectionFactory soapConnFactory = SOAPConnectionFactory.newInstance();
    connection = soapConnFactory.createConnection();
    SOAPMessage request = getRequest(inputRow);
    SOAPMessage response = connection.call(request, "http://<<server>>:<<port no>>/Domain/Services/Mgmt");
    finally
    if (connection != null)
    connection.close();
    }catch(SOAPException se){
    System.out.println("Error while closing connection. " + se.getMessage());
    connection = null;
    } // End of for loop

    Is there something like connection pooling for web services, is that the answer to this issue, if yes, please let me know where i should start.
    Thanks

    Move server socket creation out of while loop. You don't need to create new server socket every time.

  • "BindException: Address already in use" error all the time!

    I made a simple program that streams lines of text across the network/internet and a simple client program to display that text. The problem is, regardless of what port I choose, I always get this exception on the server's side:
    C:\Users\Nathan\Desktop>java LyricalUploader
    Started Listening
    Bound
    Started Listening
    Starting.java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind
            at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketBind(Native Method)
            at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.bind(PlainSocketImpl.java:359)
            at java.net.ServerSocket.bind(ServerSocket.java:319)
            at java.net.ServerSocket.<init>(ServerSocket.java:185)
            at java.net.ServerSocket.<init>(ServerSocket.java:97)
            at LyricalUploader.main(LyricalUploader.java:11)What bothers me is it creates the ServerSocket just fine (that's what the output saying "Bound" means) and if I replace the new LyricalThread(ss.accept()).start(); line in the code below with new LyricalThread(ss.accept()).run();, it works fine, It just can't handle more than one client. I have tried many many ports and they all have the same result. What am I doing wrong?
    Here is the code:
    import java.net.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.swing.JFileChooser;
    public class LyricalUploader{
    public static void main(String args[]){
      ServerSocket ss = null;
      int c=0;
      try{
        while(true){
          System.out.println("Started Listening");
          ss = new ServerSocket(49625);
          System.out.println("Bound");
          new LyricalThread(ss.accept()).start();
      catch(Exception e){
        e.printStackTrace();
        System.exit(1);
    import java.net.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class LyricalThread extends Thread{
      Socket s = null;
      public LyricalThread(Socket so){
        s=so;
      public void run(){
        try{
          System.out.print("Starting.");
          PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(s.getOutputStream());
          BufferedReader fin =new BufferedReader(new FileReader("Lyrics.txt"));
          System.out.print(".");
          String line = fin.readLine();
          System.out.println(".Done!");
          while(true){
            while(line!=null){
              out.println(line);
              //System.out.println(line);
              line=fin.readLine();
              Thread.sleep(1600);
            fin.close();
            System.out.println("End of Lyrics.txt file.");
            fin =new BufferedReader(new FileReader("Lyrics.txt"));
        catch(Exception e){
          e.printStackTrace();
          return;
      public static void main(String arg[]){
        new LyricalThread(null).start();
    }And the Client code:
    import java.net.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.swing.JFileChooser;
    public class LyricalReader{
      public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception{
        Socket s = null;
        BufferedReader sin = null;
        FileOutputStream out = null;
        try{
          System.out.println("Started");
          System.out.print("Connecting...");
          s = new Socket("2.9.19.94",49625);
          System.out.println("Done!");
          System.out.print("Finding song...");
          sin = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(s.getInputStream()));
          String line = sin.readLine();
          System.out.println("Done!\nStarted reading:\n\n\n\n\n\n");
          while(true){
            System.out.println(line);
            line = sin.readLine();
        }catch(Exception e){
          e.printStackTrace();
          sin.close();
          s.close();
          out.close();
        System.exit(0);
    }

    Hi,
    your Server must create only one ServerSocket, not multiples! So write
      try{
        ss = new ServerSocket(49625);
        System.out.println("Bound");
        while(true){
          System.out.println("Started Listening");
          new LyricalThread(ss.accept()).start();
      catch(Exception e){
        e.printStackTrace();
        System.exit(1);
      }and take the creation of the ServerSocket outside the while-loop.

  • Server socket, BindException

    I'm getting a new exception:
    SEVERE: Problem establishing server socket

    at com.cboe.support.servlet.servletutilities.Daemon.run(DaemonHttpServlet.java:63)
    For some reason, it's failing when i'm trying to create the serverSocket(listens for new connections). Note: I am using Tomcat 5.5.7. This socket is being created within a servlet. Any thoughts?

    determen, u said that this socket is being created within a servlet. Are u making sure to close this socket whenver the servlet has been called and performed it's job. Try restarting tomcat, then try calling the servlet containing that code, if it functions well in the first call, then generates exceptions on the second, this means that the socket is not being closed whenever the servlet has finished its job, and the port is still being in use.

  • BindException when starting Tangosol

    Hi,
    Our admin move the application using Tangosol to a new box and suddenly we start getting a BindException. The new machine has a new IP address, however the IP address below in the exception stack trace still references the old machine. And I don't even know where port 8088 is being set.
    This cache is running in a distributed mode but there is no out of process cache running on the previous machine.
    can someone tell what this error might indicate ?

    Hi,
    the IP address can explicitly be set by the Java property -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=..., where ... is the explicit address.
    This has probably been set somewhere (Java property, override file), if your stacktrace refers to an IP address which is not present in the box.
    The 8088 port is the default unicast listener port, and can be set by setting the -Dtangosol.coherence.localport=... Java property, but by default automatic increment of the port is enabled so if it is bound then it is automatically incremented. Note that this is not recommended for production mode (probably due to the problems which can be caused by firewalls filtering out unexpected traffic which comes to/from a port which is different from the expected due to autoincrementing).
    See more about this in the following URLs:
    Unicast listener configuration:
    http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH32UG/unicast-listener
    Override file:
    http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH32UG/Operational+Configuration+Elements#OperationalConfigurationElements-OperationalOverrideFile
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • Get all values from request.getParameter

    In ASP, I can do something like that...
    For each item in Request.Form
    Response.write "Name is:" & item & " value is:" & Request(item)
    Next
    How about in JSP? How do i get the names and values of the form using a loop?

    You can use request.getParameterNames() which will return an enumeration, then you can iterate through the enumeration and use request.getParameterValue(String paramName) method to get the values.

  • I am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier

    i am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier photo please help me to recover my photos

    Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
    This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter - Can't get it to work!

    Bought the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter to hook up my Macbook to my TV. I tried it when it first arrived and it worked within minutes of setting up. Great! I go to set it up and use it again a week later, and it wouldn't work at all. I went through every possible setting I could to try and get it to work, nothing. Do these things have a tendency to go out or short out or something? I'm getting nothing but scrambled screens, grey screens, etc. Nothing seems to work.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
    Any other solutions for playing my laptop on my TV?

    Hey Rob,
    Is your profile information accurate? The MacBook 2,1 was introduced in November of 2006 and discontinued in May of 2007, so the mini-DVI to video adapter ought to work.
    What, exactly, do you see on your screen? Are all of the connections nice and snug? Do you have another RCA cable you can try? You can use a white or red one if you want; they all will work as long as you're connecting the video adapter to the yellow port on the TV.

  • Clicking on Year view to get Week view in iCal

    In the  Lion version, is there any way I can double click a date and get to the 'week view' rather than the 'day view'?

    CaptainStarwars,
    Try using (⌘+C) and then (⌘+V). That action retains the event in the original, while also placing a duplicate in the new location.
    If you want to remove the event from the original time, use (⌘+X), then (⌘+V) in the new time frame.

    I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks) or share some of my personal information (scanned copies of my birth certificate, passport, certificates, photos, etc.) on the web.
    If you put your info into the computer and hand it to another, you have to assume they will copy everything.
    Why are you putting scanned copies of valuable identity information into a computer than can be hacked, stolen, lost or compromised by a dirty tech?
    Have you lost your mind?
    Is there a way of finding out what activity has taken place whilst they've had it in their possession?
    No. The tech would just deny it if he did, or tell the truth which the answer would be "NO" in either case.
    The employer won't ask that sort of questions without solid proof, less they make a enemy of the employee and/or risk being sued for defamation of character.
    It's not like they bother to have a team of people watching over his shoulder that he doesn't stick a USB thumb drive of your data into his pocket to take home.

    If it's iTunes music, it has your personal ID embedded into the song files. Most IT techs know this though.
    I appreciate any advice you guys can offer.
    Too late now, all you can do is not worry about it.
    Take your personal info out of the machine and if you need it, burn cd/dvd copies, a few USB thumb drives, Iron Keys or self encrypting external storage drives with key and/or keypad.

  • How can i get music to another account?

    I had another account with apple with was [email protected] but i had to give that one to my boyfriend cause i gave him my old my ipad and he didnt have a email account so i let him use that one which i had bought so ablums on that account and i had to have dell restart my whole comp just a few days ago and now i cant get the ablums i bought on the other account onto my new account with my iphone what can i do to get that fixed?

    Content acquired with an Apple ID is permanently tied to that Apple ID.  There is no way to transfer media from one Apple ID to another.
    For what silly reason would anyone give away their Apple ID?  Just because the bf did not have one is no reason to give him your Apple ID.  Make him create his own.  Email addresses from Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and many others are free.

    You can seach the net for solutions like this one http://appletvvpn.com/how-to-connect-apple-tv-2-to-vpn/ another idea is to use a PC as the control and fit that with a wireless card and set up a ad hoc wireless network that the Apple TV uses.
