Getting Excel to interpret the return string of a WEBSERVICE() function using a WCF REST service.
I am using the WEBSERVICE() function in Excel and a WCF REST service is called through this function.
The web service returns a string value of true or false when invoked. E.g. <string xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/">True</string>
This has been confirmed through debugging and it seems to be working fine when invoked through a client application or browser.
However, the result shown in the cell in the Excel sheet is #VALUE!. This particular cell has a custom format (set using the Format Cells ... option) that displays "Yes" or "No". (The
custom format is "Yes" ; "Yes" ; "No".) Is this the correct way of interpreting the results of a Web Service method called in Excel? Does a #VALUE! result actually imply a formatting issue or some other interpretation
error? Is there anything missing? Can somebody suggest ideas?

I am using the following scenario
An outside application sends a huge variable string of data via XI using SOAP adapter. XI inturn using RFC and a ZBAPI writes this into a table.
On the table side I am using the datatype 'VARILRAW' and it gets saved successfully without any error. However, because of the property, I can not go and see if the data in the table is correctly saved.
So I have written another ZBAPI to send the data back to the appliation, where I can check to see if the data string is the same that I sent.
However, instead of sending the same string back, it is sending a huge string of 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...',
I went and checked the sxmb_moni and it shows the string that is coming in as correct string as expected. But the returning string is a huge string of letter As. (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa).
Can some one please show me where I am going wrong? I would really appreciate it.

even we faced the same problem.
we used to get the data from .NET application and we found that ascill values are not the same.
for example if they are sending letter "X" it's being taken as some other letter which is not equivalent to letter "X".
in SXMB_MONI it shows the same letter "X" but while processing it takes something diff.
for us the solution worked when we changed the case of the letter as it was coming as small "x" we made it as CAPITAL "X".
then the processing was correct.
really speaking dont know how the character conversions takes place behind the screen.

First, I would try the following suggested steps for when you don't see content in iTunes after updating:
Quit iTunes.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
Use the Finder (Mac) or Windows Explorer (Windows) to go to the iTunes folder that contains the iTunes library files:

Microsoft Windows Windows XP and Windows 2000
\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows Windows Vista and Windows 7

Drag the iTunes Library file from the above location to the Desktop.
Open the Previous iTunes Libraries folder in the iTunes folder.
Locate the file named iTunes Library YYYY-MM-DD where YYYY-MM-DD is the date you upgraded iTunes (Year-Month-Day).
Drag this file to the iTunes folder (the enclosing folder).
Rename this file to iTunes Library.
Open iTunes.
You should now see your missing content in iTunes.

How do I set the "reply to" field in the iPad 2 Mail app? I use an email forwarding service (not an actual email account) that I would like people to reply to, so setting up an account with the correct reply-to address doesn't work because there's no associated outgoing mail server. I had this working under iOS4 but it seems to have disappeared when I upgraded to iOS5.
Welcome to the forum, NicoleYM. I don't think the Touch Mail has as many options as the Mac Mail app. However, you could set a standard signature. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Signature. There you can type a reply address and hope people see it.
Alternatively, you can go to your GMail account in your web browser and click on Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP. There you will have an option to forward all emails (or only some, if you set up a filter) to your other address.

I have a labview sub-VI reading the string being outputted by a pH meter. The meter outputs a 5 line string and labview is only reading up to each lines carriage return, there-by giving me 5 separate strings is there anyway to rectify this and have the 5 line read as one string?

What happens is that the old serial functions still exist in 7.1 and above but the code (the block diagram) has been modified to use VISA functions. Older versions of LabVIEW are fully supported in this manner. The only way you can avoid the automatic update is to have the old serial functions in an llb and your top level VI refer to these. Having any VI that was part of vi.lib in an llb is a very bad idea and the way to fix things is to remove any VIs in the llb that are part of the LabVIEW distribution.
I don't remember how the old serial config worked and what the new version does with the VISA Configure Serial Port. Your program should only have a single serial config and you might just be able to directly replace that with the VISA configure Serial Port. -

By trying different things I have noticed, that I could have troubles with the ODBC-connection. Maybe I am not using the right one. To store data returned from select statements I have an ODBC-Connection (Driver: Oracle in XE), which works perfectly, e.g.:

Could it be, that my ODBC-connection is wrong? When debugging the connection string, I find the Provider=MSDASQL5.1.

Looking forward to hearing from you, as I am almost giving up... ;(My VBA is super rusty. Does that error come after Parameters.Refresh, or after .Parameters("i_caller").Value = "'STG_DATA_REQUEST'"?
If it's the second one, you'll need the definition of the stored procedure so you can see what parameters it's expecting. That'd mean you're getting something wrong with the names. -

How to get the return value of a LOV item using javascript

I am trying to put an onchange attribute in the HTML Form Element Attributes field of a LOV item. The javascript should access the new return value of the item. How is this done ? All the methods I have tried give only the display value, not the return value. For example $v() returns the display value.

MarekThis comes up periodically. It just isn't possible using that type of approach. Probably the best you could do is the create an ADT (containing collections) and use that to pass a 'batch' of information.
Hopefully this will get addressed in the next release of the database. -
Router not seeing the return value from a webservice
Hello. I have two input fields and a button that calls a web service, is an action that is passed to a router.
So it looks like this form-->execute web service-->router-->decision
I'm passing back a string of success or failure as follows:

How do I get a copy of the Mountain Lion OS that I can use to recover?
How do I make a disc image of my Mac Mini HD that id bootable and has the operating system with all the programs, settings and data. If I need to replace a defective hard drive it would be good to have an image on a USB flash drive to restore previous settings and the operating system -- Mountain Lion, 10.8.1. I have been told that TimeMachine does not make a true disc image. I want a "hard copy" of the operating system that does not require an internet connection.
Unfortunately, the link for getting specific hardware versions has disappeared. So basically:
Get yourself a spare hard drive freshly erased or with a freshly erased partition of around 8 GBs or more.
Boot to your Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion from the main menu.
From the beginning screen select your spare partition/drive as the target destination then begin the download.
At the end of the download you will observe an Install button for you to click. Now this is important - as soon as that gadget appears you must abort the installation process. There are only two reliable ways to do this quickly: a. yank the cable for the drive from the computer; b. pull the power on the computer - shut it down quickly.
This will result in your finding a folder on the drive that contains InstallESD.dmg that you can now use to create a bootable USB flash drive installer based on the special build for your model. Use it until the next public release of Lion appears or you move on to Mountain Lion.
If you do not stop the download process immediately upon its completion you will end up with an installer that always boots to a non-functioning installation progress window instead of the normal main menu.
Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
As an alternative to the above you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process. -

This is very annoying because I can get to my homepage; but I have to sign on to yahoo e-mail every time; then go to my homepage and my bookmarks. I can't seem to get it to except the homepage I want to use..If you want a customize Yahoo! page then make sure that you keep the Yahoo! cookies.

* Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
* Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
