How can I get installed printer names through java code?
I have seen in this forum, so many persons asked this question but no one answered. I wonder why
it is? is it possible or not?

Why does one want to know? Won't java.awt.print.PrinterJob.printDialog() do the trick for you?

Java Printing Service (JPS) How to get printer status and pending jobs list

Hi,
I am trying to determine what is the current status of a printer in my computer as well as what is the list of pending printing jobs at any moment.
I want to monitor activity on a printer in my computer, so I can capture and log the jobs that are sent to my printer over time.
I would like to do so by monitoring the printer pending jobs list (if that can be retrieved through any java method) and make a log of changes in that list.
Any advice on how to get the list of pending jobs of a printer?
I checked the API and JobState class seems to be a descriptor of one single job... I suppose the method to retrieve a list of pending jobs in a printer would return an array of JobState objects... but I have not being able to find yet such method...

Getting client printer list on Web Forms

I need to get a list of client printers using web forms to
insert into database columns. I used to use ORA_FFI to get the
print dialog on client server but it doesn't work on web forms.
I have contacted Oracle support who say it can't be done but I
suspect that it may need some sort of Java bean. Has anyone got
any ideas on the subject (maybe a solution to the problem)

I read through the thread you mentioned and it seems that people are having a lot of problems with the iCloud clients, so we're not alone, but the unique issue in my case is the failing email address vs. the working perfectly email address.
After reading your message tonight, I tried my setup again with the preferred Apple ID (the one without the "." between the names), and for the first time ever, IT WORKS. Mail app configured the servers both send and receive as p01-smtp.mail.me.com and p01-imap.mail.me.com. For the first time, I'm able to send and receive into the Mail app, create mailboxes, move messages into and out of mailboxes, keep Sent messages, etc.
I had a 50-minute support chat with MobileMe support via ExpressLane on Monday afternoon. They couldn't resolve my issue but passed me on to escalation. I was told to expect to get an email from advanced support by this afternoon, but none has arrived. However, so far tonight -- and I will check again tomorrow several times before declaring victory -- it looks like something has been fixed on the Apple end to make things work.
I will report back after I do some additional testing tomorrow to make sure the fix is real and is solid...and before I let my friend, the new Mac user, know the good news.

How do I add an Epson printer connected to an iMac on the network to the printer list on my MacBook Pro? I cannot get it to show up in the list for printers to add.

That only works if the printer is itself a network printer. You can't do it if it is directly connected to another computer on the network unless it is configured to be a Shared Printer on the other computer.

Can't Find printer in printer list

I'm using Adobe Reader 10.1.4 and can't get it to see the laser printer on the network. Previous versions worked OK and Word sees it without a problem. When I try to print a document the print screen shows firstly the default printer which is an inkjet connected via USB and when I click the drop-down all the printers are there except the laser on the network which I want to use.
The printer has been deleted and re-installed several times, is shown on the printer list in the Control panel as being “ready” and works fine with other packages such as Word. I have also deleted and downloaded Acrobat several times restarting the PC in between but still it can’t find that particular printer.
If I take the file to another PC connected to the network it sees the prjnter and prints without a problem.
I have heard that it is a known problem and that Acrobat has a fix. Is this right?
If not, could you suggest how it can be fixed without repeating the above which we have done many times without success.

I just ran into this exact problem. In my case, it isn't even a network printer - just a newly installed USB connected printer. The old printer was uninstalled, and Reader still shows it on its list. The new printer is installed and doesn't show up on the list. Other utilties print to it just fine as well. The printer just doesn't show up on Reader's printer list. I installed Acrobat and had the same issue.

I have asked the Hosts to move it to Snow Leopard (you should not lose contact with it through any email links you get)
I also don't do Wirelss printing so I can't actaully help either.

Can't get printer to work (Windows - Arch)

I have an XP box and my Arch box on my home network, have Lexmark X1100 connected to XP box (USB printer). It worked fine on Ubuntu, I know it can work but I haven't gotten anything going using the Arch wiki on CUPS. Here is my /etc/samba/smb.conf:

I was using the Gnome cups manager on Ubuntu, but I cannot find this package on my system now. I see it in AUR but shouldn't it be in pacman? I have searched and searched but can't find it. And I installed gtklp, but upon startup it just gives me "No printers found!" and exits.
EDIT: I have just built gnome-cups-manager from AUR and am at the point where I select a driver, however in the Manufacturer list there is nothing showing, and when I hit Install Driver and select the .ppd I got from the CUPS site for my printer, it just says "The PPD /usr/share/cups/model/Lexmark-X125-drv_x125.ppd is already installed" I can't get past this point??

1) install and start lpd daemon (done)
2) set printer sharing (short name, no spaces) (done)
3) make sure that xp allows tcp 515 (done?)
on linux
1) start cups
2) open konqueror (not firefox) and enter in the address bar
http://localhost:631/
log in as root (I assume that basic cups with user is configured)
3)select add printer
- first page:set priter description
- second page: Select device lpd/lpr host or printer
- third page enter lpd://hostname/queue (hostname if defined in /etc/hosts, otherwise ip address of XP box queue -> printer share name
- fourth page select manufacturer
-fifthpage driver
test it
KDE
K Menu -> Settings ->Printers ->Add -> follow screens
I found KDE method (under Arch) more reliable, but both should work. No idea about Gnome.

Print List Processing Report to PDF

hi all,
i've read many forums about convert info into PDF. but i'm very new to understand those forums.
In case I want to print list processing report as PDF (not hard copy thru printer). First, user types the data on the screen then click on 'Execute' button, then the system shows the result on screen. After that user asks system for print the screen on menu bar by List=>Print.
So please advise me how to get the spool id, then export as pdf. As my opinion, i may use CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF and GUI_DOWNLOAD. But where is the place I should put the methods on?

Is there a way of getting a list of your i tunes

Anyone know how to get a list of all the albums / tracks you have in your i tunes collection ?
Which you can save as a document and print off etc.
This would be an invaluable inventory , any way this can be done ?

I can no longer print using wifi. I have to connect a USB cable to print. Setup and pref show that I should be able to print wireless but I keep getting printer not found msg when trying.

I can no longer print via wifi. I could at one time but now I have to connect to printer with USB. All settings appear correct in printer and macbook. Sys pref shows printer with green light next to idle. Sending a print prompt results in "searching for printer, printer not found, ensure printer is turned on". I have reinstalled printer in my print list and reinstalled printer software on macbook. Kodak 5250 AiO printer shows it's configured for and on wifi channel. I go online with laptop using wireless but cannot print. Help!

If you know the IP address of the printer, then you can check if there is a working path between the Mac and printer. This can be done using Network Utility or a web browser.
If you open Network Utility and select the Ping tab, you can enter the IP address of the Kodak and then press the Ping button. If there is a working connection then you should get a reply to each packet sent.
With the web browser, many devices have a built-in web server so you can type the IP address of the printer into the browser and if there is a working connection then you will open the printers web page.
So, are you able to confirm you have a working connection between the Mac and printer?

Invoice is getting printed instead of being sent in email

Hi Experts,
I have an issue where there is a list of customers for which invoice should be sent in an email.
It should not get printed out.
I've maintained customer specific condition records for this output type (ZINV) and have kept transmission medium as 5 (External send). But still in invoice, transmission medium is picked as 1 (Print output). This billing type has default value as 1 (Print output). But for these customers, system should have picked up 5 not 1.
I've checked config. I dont see any problem as per my understanding.
Would you please advice if I am missing something?

Hi,
Hope the Form and print program are assigned for email comm for the output type in NACE trranscation.
In the condition records(VV33), the communication strategy must be set to 1(Email only) in the communication tab. Also check the access sequence of condition records and make sure that it is not selecting the wrong sequence. Also please check the output determination procedure.
If the above setup exist, the please debug the print program and check whether the device value passed to OPEN_FORM is MAIL and also check whether the sender and recipient values are passed.
