Giving access to my wi-fi printer to my guest network

My Wi-fi printer is linked with my AirPort reuter and my main account.  I also created a guest network on my AirPort reuter and can't seem to give them access to my printer.  How can I set this up?

"Guests" have access to the Internet, but not to any devices on the "main" or "private" network.
You have a few options, though:
1) Buy another printer and use it only for the guest network
2) Have the guest email you the document that needs to be printed, so you can print it for them
3) Allow the guest to connect to your "main" or "private" network

Is there a way to filter guest network to restrict what services they can access? Support won't email me back.

Guest Network is designed for devices that you do not want to have access with the devices connected to the main network.
What services are you referring to for guest network users to get restricted? You might want to check the link below.

  • Guest Network Printing - Best Practices?

I've installed a new 5th Generation Airport Extreme and turned on the Guest Network option.
After trying to get my network printer working when logged into the Guest Network, I came to this Support Forum to figure out what I was doing wrong.   Thanks to the expertise of a number of forum members, especially Bob Timmons, I learned that network printing from the Guest Network is not supported via the Airport Express and Airport Utility.
Now, with that said and understood: what are the options for printing when logged in to the Guest Network?   As I see them:
    1. Emailing files/USB stick swapping
    2. Moving the Guest computer to a a printer and connecting directly via USB cable
Are there other options that I'm overlooking?
Any and all thoughts on this are welcomed.

    Thanks Bob,
It's taken me a few months and a change of ISPs (from ATT to Charter) but I'm back on this now.
I did buy a wireless HP printer with wireless interface.    I've attached it to the 5th Generation Airport Extreme Guest Network SSID, but cannot get a computer also connected to the Guest Network SSID to print or even see the HP printer.  This includes a Mac with OSX Lion, New iPad, iPhone 4s, and company Dell running Windows 7.    I've even tried to add the the printer via IP address manually both to the Mac and the Dell to no avail; even with the specific IP address the error msg says the printer isn't detected on the network.
When I connect to the 5th Generation Airport Extreme normally (not the Guest Network) all is well and printing is no issue on any of these computers, including the Dell (which is actually the one that will be dedicated to the Guest Network / HP wireless printer on the Guest Network.
I suspect there's some very key fact I'm not aware of, and hoping that you know exactly why this is not working.
    Many thanks in advance.

  • How do I configure Guest network to access ethernet wired printer?

I have a wired/wireless network with a new dual band AEBS. The AEBS is connected to a Cisco router, which in turn sends it's connections to various wall-plates in our home. One HP 4110 printer is wired via it's ethernet port, one Mac Mini (OS 10.6.2) is hard wired also. The dual band AEBS 5 GHz network is used for our newer laptops, and the 2.4 GHz network is used for a G3 Firewire PowerBook (now don't make fun... it was the best there was at one time) running OS 10.4.11.
The PowerBook cannot access the printer that is hard wired via ethernet cable to the network. How do I get the PowerBook on the "Guest" network to access the printer?
I tried searching these discussions, but can't find an answer to my specific issue. Any help is appreciated.

Since you have a simultaneous dual-band AEBS, why not connect your PowerBook G3 to the non-Guest 2.4 GHz network created?
Can I take an AEBS that is a couple of years older (I have a couple of the flying saucers around here somewhere), wire that to an available ethernet port on the LAN, and then connect the older PowerBook G3 to that older AEBS wirelessly?
    Sure
If so, will that arrangement slow down the entire system?
    No
If that won't work, and I connect the PowerBook G3 directly to an ethernet port, will that slow down the other wireless computers?
Yes you can connect your PowerBook G3 via Ethernet. That would have no effect on the wireless computers.

  • Project Lite License for Team Members not giving access to the PWA

Hi there - So here is my issue I am having with Project Online 2013. I am new to project server ( I mean project online) & really having fun with it but MSFT can make it a bit easier to the Users.
So we brought the following 2 licenses
    1) Project Lite for Team Members ( Brought this license after getting answer from previous question posted by me at  Previous
    thread )
    2) Project Online with Project Pro for Office 365.
So I am able to access the PWA for my Portfolio Managers, Project Managers etc., Now I tried giving access to the Team Members and as directed by MSFT I added them to the group "Team Members for Project Web App ".
I created some tasks in project schedule and assigned the tasks to the Team Members and published them.
Now when My Team Members try too access the PWA Site , they are not able to access it.
1 ) When trying to access the   ( http://tenant.sharepoint.com/PWA/Default.aspx)   which is the home page  I am seeing a webpart error with correlation ID.
     2) When trying to access the  Task through (http://tenant.sharepoint.com/PWA/Tasks.aspx ) where you see the tasks, the page gives me " Sorry you don't have access to this page"
So now my question is how do I give access to my Team Members so that they can work on the tasks assigned to them in the PWA.
    Any help is highly appreciated.

    SP2013Dev,
You need to Share the PWA with the team members to give them access. Please refer to my blog here. Hope this helps.

  • Oracle Migration Tool giving Access denied error for Read operation

    Hi;
Oracle Migration tool is giving access denied error when we are trying to Read a record for Access Profiles.
We are getting (SBL-ODS-50085) error. This is happening only for few records(Access Profiles).
Although the user role is administrator having full access and privilege (Manage User and Access checked).
Pl. help me resolve the issue.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Does it happen when you try to read "any" Access Profile?
If yes, please have a look at the
"Admin: Users and Access Controls - Manage Users and Access - Manage Users and establish User Quotas. Define Access Profiles, Roles and Groups to manage data access controls." privilege in the role of the user you use for migration.
In order to avoid any problem, I usually create a "Migration" role temporarily and assign this role ALL the privileges to avoid such failures at the time of export.

Ok, fixed it, I found the netserv.inf file in c:\windows\inf and tried to use it to reinstall File and Printer Sharing. However File and Printer Sharing was not listed. I copied the netserv.inf file from another Server 2012 VM and was able to install File

  • How to Connect a USB-to-Wireless printer to a Wireless Network without a PC

Some printers from HP do not have a Wireless Setup Wizard built into the front panel for connecting to a network.  These models install to a computer through a USB connection and the software then sends the wireless information across the USB cable to the printer.  However, you may not always have a computer present and still need to connect these printers to a wireless network.  You can use a wireless device, such as an iPad, to do this.  For the example below I have used an iPad and a Deskjet 3510 series printer.
The first step is to make sure your printer is broadcasting a network (Ad-Hoc).  To do this, turn the printer on and press the wireless button or turn wireless off, then on in the Setup menu. Connect the iPad (or other wireless device) to the wireless signal being broadcast by the printer.
Once the iPad is connected to the printer as a network connection, open the Web Browser on the iPad.  Type 192.168.223.1 in the address bar and go to that site.  The printer's status page should load and look similar to the image below.
Click on the Network tab at the top of the Status page.  You may get a prompt warning about being redirected to an HTTPS site.  Click Ok on the message box to continue.  When you click OK, you may get a warning regarding the certificate or server identity.  Select the option that lets you continue.  The wording will vary from browser to browser, but there should be an option to continue anyway.
Network status page should now be loaded at this point.  Select Wireless Setup Wizard to start the wireless network setup and click Next.
When next is selected, it should list the available wireless networks.  Select your network from this list and select next.  When the network is selected, it should be highlighted.
Enter the network’s password, if any, and select next.
A message should be received indicating the name and if security is enabled.  The message below that should indicate the settings were saved successfully.  If it says the settings were saved successfully with an error, the network setup is more than likely functioning.  Select Ok at the bottom.
After selecting OK, select Status to verify the printer is connected successfully.  It may take a few minutes for the wireless light on the printer to stop flashing.  Once it is a solid blue, the printer should be on the network and functioning.
Once this is completed, then you will be able to reconnect to your normal wireless signal (Wireless Router) for internet access.  Now both the iPad and printer are on the same Home Network.

  • HPLaserjet P1102W Will No Longer Print But Is on Network

Have had this printer for a while and it has been fine.  About 2 months ago, it stopped printing.  I was able to ping it from my desktop and other devices, it is on my network wirelessly and no other changes have been made.  The PC tries to send jobs to the printer and I get an error.  I tried using the HP Print and Scan utility but same thing.  The printer DOES respond on my network and has been reset,  Not only can I not print, I also cannot access the web page.

    Hi @Piscesyin ,
I see that you are experiencing issues printing over the wireless network and you can't access the Embedded Web Server for the printer. I would like to help you out with this issue today.
Power cycle the router and restart the computer.
If you are still having issues accessing the Embedded Web Server, please do the following steps.
Reset the printer first to clear out any previous network settings.
Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IP address are cleared.

  • HP LaserJet Pro m201dw suddenly not printing via ethernet (wired) network using Mac OS 10.10.1

    Hi,
My brand-new HP LaserJet Pro M201dw is suddenly not cooperating when I go to print using my Mac. I had it set up following the directions which closest matched my OS and it worked perfectly for one week; today suddenly it won't cooperate. The printer is seen on the network. I have deleted and re-installed it from my System Preferences several times. I have rebooted my computer. I cannot seem to get it to work. Even the HP Utility is having difficulty. The HP Utility is suddenly slow and often needs to be force-quit as it hangs when I navigate to other applications (web browser, etc.) while waiting for it to respond to clicks. Most often the HP Utility shows the printer in the status ara as "Device Status: Unknown" and "Supplies: Unknown" which it wasn't having issues with yesterday.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot this device? Is there better documentation than the basic setup page here on HP? What about adjusting some setting in the printer web page (which I can access) - is the answer in there?
    Thank you.

Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.
    Click Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system.
Then click the + sign to add the driver, highlight the printer. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name) Then click on the Add button.
    Try printing again.

When does clicking on "Connect As" happen in the process above?
    After step six? Seven?
    After the connection has failed?
Is this the FInder window that shows the icon of the computer you want to copy the file from?

  • X301 "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" removed at re booting (XP SP-3)

Even if I run the “Network Identification Wizard” (under System properties/Computer Name) to join a Workgroup, the box ‘File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks’ remains unchecked.  If I ticked it manually, it remains checked for the current session, but it is unchecked at booting.
The same occurs with the Windows Firewall (I am running that from Symantec). I switch the Windows Firewall off, but after rebooting, it appears selected again!.
This happens only with my brand new ThinkPad X301, which came with Vista. The package included a kit to convert to XP, but this installed a ‘naked’ XP, which required downloading from Lenovo and Windows about 1Gb of files (bad service, Lenovo guys!).
I wonder which “safety” issue of the X301 causes this, but how can I stop this happening? (It does not occur with any of my two old ThinkPads, also running XP SP-3 and Lenovo software).

    I FOUND MY SOLUTION!!!
In my case, it was in Lenovo's "ThinkVantage Access Connections" applet. It
is additional security that is applied at the CONNECTION level.
Here is how I fixed it:
    1. Double click on the ThinkVantage Access Connections applet in the
    notification area.
    2. Click on the MANAGE button on the toolbar
    3. Select the SSID where you want File Sharing to work, and click EDIT
    4. Click on the ADDITIONAL SETTINGS tab
    5. Next to "Network Security", click the SETTINGS button
    6. The first option in Security Settings is "Disable file and printer
sharing". UNCHECK this box. Click OK for 3 levels of dialog boxes, then
    close Access Connections
Although these directions are specific to ThinkPad notebooks, the same
principle may apply for other manufacturers' connection managers.
    Best of luck!

  • Printing for visitors/guests?

It's not quite that simple sadly, mix of locations, mix of connectivity and security requirements so we can't do that.
The only constant is they will have internet access.

We've been asked to look at ways to let visitors/guests print to a printer connected to our network whilst they're on our site.
It isn't practical to use USB and they'll have a variety of methods of network connectivity, but they will have internet access.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a print service that will let them submit a document (print driver would be great) which goes out to "the cloud" (something in our DMZ or offsite) which a box on our LAN would then pull in and send to the relevant printer?

  • Printing issues to local network when AnyConnect VPN in use

I have situation where I have a user connecting to the corporate office from her home network using a Win7 laptop and AnyConnect VPN 3.1.01065. She has an IP HP printer on her local network. When she is connected via VPN, she cannot print to her printer, Win saying the printer is off-line. That said, we are allowing access to the remote local network with a "split-exlude" conifiguration on the ASA:
access-list LocalLANAccess standard permit host 0.0.0.0
    group-policy DfltGrpPolicy attributes
    vpn-tunnel-protocol ssl-client
    split-tunnel-policy excludespecified
    split-tunnel-network-list value LocalLANAccess
"Allow local (LAN) access when using VPN" in the AC preference tab is checked. And also, she can ping the local printer when connected via VPN. however, the printer appears off-line, from the laptop perspective, when the VPN is on, and will go back "on-line" when the VPN is disconnected.
Anyone have any thoughts on how to correct this?

Well, if you want a workaround to apply for all VPN Client then you need to go for split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified instead of split-tunnel-policy excludespecified. Suppose if your corporate network is 10.0.1.0/24 and you want to give the access to this subnet for vpn users.then configuration will be as follows.
    access-list CorporateLAN standard permit 10.0.1.0 255.255.255.0
    group-policy DfltGrpPolicy attributes
    vpn-tunnel-protocol ssl-client
    no split-tunnel-policy excludespecified
    split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified
    split-tunnel-network-list value CorporateLAN
This will solve the problem globally
