GlassFish connections in JDeveloper

Hello:
Does anyone know if Oracle plans to support creating GlassFish connections in JDeveloper? I have a customer who uses GlassFish extensively and would like to see this functionality in JDev.
Thanks,
-Matt

Not in 10.1.3.
But there is nothing preventing you from using Glassfish with Oracle.
One option is to use the Ant tasks for Glassfish deployment inside JDeveloper to deploy the applications to the Glassfish server.
You can also just create the EAR/WAR files from JDeveloper and pick them up and use the Glassfish tools to deploy them.
JDeveloper should be able to remote debug the application running on Glassfish as well.

  • IIOP connection from JDeveloper does not work

I'm trying to run some sample EJB programs but cannot connect to the IIOP port from JDeveloper. I have installed Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise on my machine, and it includes a listening location for IIOP on port 2481 under the listener. I can connect to JServer on this database from DBA Studio using various user/passwords, so the IIOP connection seems to work in principle.
But when I try to set up an IIOP connection from JDeveloper (v.3.1.1.2), the "Test" button fails to connect, but does not give any details on the reason for the error.
I have tried using the command line utility sess_sh, but this fails telling me the URL is invalid, even though it is exactly the same as the URL I connected to in DBA Studio.
Why can I connect from DBA Studio but not from JDeveloper, and can anyone tell me how to get this connection to work?
(It shouldn't be this hard to get a simple "Hello world" EJB to work!)
    Thanks,
    Chris

You must use Jdev 3.2.x to communicate with RDBMS 8.1.7.
Jdev 3.1.x.x is for RDBMS 8.1.6.

    1. Is it possible to connect from JDeveloper 10.1.3.x to BAM 11g TP4? If yes, is the domain name obligatory for connection?
    2. Is it possible to connect from JDeveloper 11g TP4 (on remote machine) to BAM 11g TP4?

    Hi,
I have the jdeveloper as well as the oracle bpa installed.
When I try to establish the connection for bpa within jdeveloper, i am unable to do so.
I checked the connection within jdeveloper, BPA Server connection. it gives a result 'Test succeeded. After that when i click the ok button on the dialogue box, it does not close the dialogue box and allow me to proceed further.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • Can't make a connection from JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.0) to WebLogic 8.1

    I can't make a connection from JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.0.0) to WebLogic 8.1
When I click "Test connection" JDeveloper 10g writes the following:
    Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory
Have somebody ever established a connection from JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.0) to WebLogic 8.1? How to do this?

It connects successfully now. Thank you for the information.
But it does nothing when I try to deploy my J2EE application.
I right-click on Resources -> application.deploy, choose "Deploy to" -> my connection. It starts to do something obscure.
Then I go to the WebLogic console and it shows that there is no my application.

  • Database Connections in Jdeveloper

    Hi,
I was able to make a successful jdbc to odbc database connection using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.0.2. I could see the list of tables in the Oracle database. However, release 10.1.3.0.4 produces the following message: "Invalid Fetch Size". I also tried a straight jdbc connection in the later release, and it returns a certain amount of metadata, but no list of tables. Why does the connection work for the earlier release but not the later release?
    Thank you,
    Roland Wales

I logged an er (3649694) to track this request. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Error When Creating BPA Server Connection in Jdeveloper

    Hi,
I am trying to explore the concept of BPA Suite. I have created a BPMN process and enabled the option 'Share Blueprint with' under SOA. But when i am trying to make a BPA Server Connection in JDeveloper it is showing error like 'Connection Failed'. I am using Local Repository. Could you please help me on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Anju

Yes, you can choose XE at installation time for the LOCAL database in BPA (ARIS). And, since you say you do connect from BPA before trying to connect from JDev, we know the database is up.
One more thing to check is that both are the same version (10.1.3.4, hopefully).
When do you see the connection failed during the setup? It is after you select "local server"? That is, can you see your BPA database (project) show in the drop down and you get the error when you enter the BPA credentials? Or, do you get the error selecting local server in the first place? If so, you should see if you can get a Database connection from JDev to the database on XE - it may be that JDev can't find the database for some reason (proxy settings perhaps).
    Heidi.

  • Unable to setup BAM server connections from JDeveloper

    Hi
I have installed BAM on XP .I'm able to access BAM from frontend and all services are up and running. When i tried to set up a BAM server connection from Jdeveloper , it failed.
How do i get the values for the following parameters..
    Host Name:
    Port Number: 80
    User Name:
    Password:
    Domain Name:
Your help in this regard is highly appreciated.
    Thanks

Host name will be the host where BAM is installed
User name will be the user name of a user granted access to BAM
Domain name will be that user's domain
Password will be the user's password
By default the user you used to install BAM is automatically granted acces, you can use the administrator page in BAM to add additional users

Try posting your question to a Java forum, because this one is about native development. For example, you can use http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=31

  • Publish ESB without username/password of connection using Jdeveloper

    Hi,
I have used jdeveloper10.1.3.3 to developer BPEL Process and ESB services.
I have created a Application Server Connection in jdeveloper with hostname, url path and RMI Port right, but without username and password.
I have created a Integration Server Connection mapping the connection above. I tested this Integration Server and the result was:
    Application Server: FAILED
    BPEL Process Manager Server: OK
    ESB Server: OK
After the test of Integration Serve Connection , I tried register my ESB project using the action "Register witn ESB" from Jdeveloper and the result was the error:
"Reload services from ESB Server failed while trying to query service definitions from server."
After the registry, I saw in the ESB Crontol that the ESB Service was publish.
    Question:
Is possible resgistry a ESB service with URL connection correct, but without username and password of Application Server Conncetion from Jdeveloper?
Is there any configuration for validat of username and password of Application Server Connection in the publish of ESB service?
    Is a bug of jdeveloper?
    Thanks,
    Fabrício.

Hello. I'm pretty sure you cannot register an ESB with no username/password - it uses the username/password information in the integration server connection properties to login and deploy. We were surprised that BPEL uses ant build properties so you can specify the name/password, ESB does not - it only uses the integration server connection info.
In 10.1.3.4 (which we don't have yet) the ability to use ant for ESB deploys has been added.

  • Cannot Create an Application Server Connection in JDeveloper

I am going through the tutorial titled "Building J2EE Web Applications" at the following URL:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/j2eedev.html
I have been able to sucessfully setup a separate instance of OC4J. But when I try to establish the connection using JDeveloper's connection wizard and the instructions provided. I get the Invalid Username/Password Error.
Any inputs will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Pankaj

Thanks Lynn - It works for me...!!
    Pankaj -
The default username/password combo is 'admin' and 'welcome', respectively. You can change this in the principals.xml file or look at http://otn.oracle.com/tech/java/oc4j/htdocs/how-to-jazn.html for info on how to encrypt the username/password.
    Hope this helps,

  • Error while creating a connection from JDeveloper to OC4J instance on 9iAS

I m trying to create a connection to the application server(9iAS release 2) from the JDeveloper(9.0.2.822) using the JDeveloper connection wizard. I followed all the steps, but when i click on "Test Connection" button to test the connection the error i get is "IO Error: Connection refused: connect". The description of the settings i provided in the wizard step are as follows,
    Step 1
    Connection name:- Connection1
Connection Type:- Oracle 9i Application Server
    Step 2
    Username:- admin
    Password:- welcome
    Deploy Password checkbox: Unchecked
Step 3 (the 9iAS server address is 192.168.30.162)
    URL:- ormi://192.168.30.162/
    Target Web Site:- http-web-site
Local dir where admin.jar is installed for Oracle 9iAS is installed:- C:\ora9i_d2k\j2ee\home
    Step 4
Test Connection: “IO Error: Connection refused: connect”
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    Unmesh

    Hi,
You cannot connect to an Oracle9iAS environment directly using the connections node. You can only connect to an individual OC4J instance using this technique.
You need to use Oracle9iAS Distributed Management Configuration (DCM). See JDeveloper Help under Creating Application Server Connections
