Gnupg core package: command not found: gpg-zip
Hi!
Where is the "gpg-zip" command from the core "gnupg" package? Why removed?
For anyone interested, I filed the feature request here:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/44342
[Edit: As suggested I also created a bug report on this upstream. See: http://bugs.g10code.com/gnupg/issue1935.]

[SOLVED] node package manager: command not found
I installed nodejs, and it was working fine. I updated a couple of days ago, and now npm install and npm lead to
zsh: command not found
Node has some naming conflicts, from what I have read. I am confused as to how the namespace for packages works, but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction with this because, while confusing, I don't think it is causing the problem. I usually execute the application as node, but it is in the repositories as nodejs. I found node in /usr/bin. I can execute npm there, but it advises that npm should be run in a normal shell with a different directory, not in /usr/bin. There was no nodejs or npm.
I removed nodejs using
pacman -Rdd nodejs
since adom has dependencies, but when I tried to reinstall using
pacman -S nodejs
, it said it was up to date and reinstalled. I updated my system and rebooted. I still can execute node but not the npm-it still returns
zsh: command not found: npm
I have no idea why the node package manager disappearred. I also have no idea why it would not have reinstalled with nodejs from the repo.

[Solved] Recommend a package with pacman for "Command Not Found"
Is there a way to get Pacman to recommend a package name like in ubuntu, for example:
If I were to type in a terminal ifconfig and it said "Command not found"
Could Pacman recommend the package net-tools?
Last edited by jack9099 (2011-08-03 14:33:39)The pkgtools package will do this for you.
See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pkgtools for instructions on how to set it up.

[SOLVED] Unable to build packages from AUR (build: command not found)
I recently hosed the filesystem on my arch install of ~8 months. I reinstalled arch today and didn't have many problems since I had backups of many important config files. Anyways, I still need to get a few programs installed from AUR, but nothing I get from AUR will build.
I download the tarball, extract into a folder in /home/myuser/builds and then go into that folder and run makepkg -s (as always)
It checks the files and extracts/downloads them. Then I get the following error message:
==> Starting build()...
/usr/bin/makepkg: line 741: build: command not found
==> ERROR: Build Failed.
Aborting...
I've run abs and I checked out the abs wiki page, I've also installed base-devel. I am not sure what else I need to do, the error message is not specific enough.
The packages I have been trying to install are ttf-ms-fonts 2.0-7, keepass 2.14-2, and I also tried ttf-vista-fonts 1-3. I am fairly certain that it is not a problem with the PKGBUILD files.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Nope, haven't tried that, I think mainly because I wanted to learn how to use pacman and how to build using ABS. At this point I think I know how to use pacman/abs, as much as this thread might make it appear that I dont
I'll give it a try, as I frequently install software from AUR. In the past I think I let software from the AUR get outdated, Yaourt (clumsy name) sounds like it would help that a bit. Thanks!
Edit: BTW, I really love Arch. I tried it out on a flash drive about 8 months ago (maybe more), and after about 12 hours I was sold and installed it on the drive that Windows XP previously held. Even considering that I had many problems during the initial install, but they were all problems that caused me to learn and were easy to resolve. Seriously, I have lots of Windows tech experience, but only Arch forced me to learn Linux. I had tried Ubuntu previously but it was such a bore, and the problems tended to be hard to find solutions for. I try to convince my other Linux using friends to try arch, but they see it as too hands-on. I don't see it that way, it is very hands off after initial configuration, and the initial config only takes a week or less on the first try and a day and a half (or so) if you re-install. Having backups of your config files is of course a huge deal, and I am glad I had most of those.
Really, I love Arch Linux, it has taught me so much.

Mkinitcpio err: command not found [solved]
I rebuilt fbsplash yesterday and get this error when running 'mkinitcpio -p kernel26'
-> Parsing hook: [fbsplash]
/lib/initcpio/install/fbsplash: line 90: err: command not found
Line 90 reads
err "Theme invalid or not found: '$theme'"
The maintainer of fbsplash reported that 'err' is a function in /lib/initcpio/init_functions which is part of the package mkinitcpio.
However looking through the other scripts in /lib/initcpio/install/ this is the only one which uses this command and thus the only one producing the error.
Is it not valid?
Last edited by subatomic (2011-07-13 08:51:42)falconindy wrote:
Mr.Elendig wrote:Maybe he haven't updated it for the latest release of mkinitcpio
This. The 'err' function no longer exists.
http://projects.archlinux.org/mkinitcpi … 88108eb385
Yes, I have updated to the latest release of mkinitcpio in [core]. It's 0.7.2-1. And the function 'err' is still in /lib/initcpio/init_functions which is part of mkinitcpio 0.7.2-1 and used by the file /lib/initcpio/init, the hook 'net' which is also included in mkinitcpio 0.7.2-1 and by the hook 'encrypt' which is part of cryptsetup 1.3.1-2.
Just run:
grep -Rw err /lib/initcpio
And I didn't get the 'command not found' error. Nevertheless I have replaced the 'err' calls by 'error' calls in the fbsplash hook.
Btw., is there a documentation about the mkinitcpio API? -

to the bottom of the yaourtrc file as per the wiki and ended up with the error.
/etc/yaourtrc: line 49: ExportToLocalRepository: command not found
2.after falconindy's idea i added #
#ExportToLocalRepository /var/cache/pacman/pkg-local
but now i dont see the error but then package is not getting saved in the pkg-local folder.

SOLVED: perlpanel command not found
hi all,
I am a bit of an Arch virgin and this is my first q. I have been setting up openbox and playing around with panels I couldn't really find one I liked. Pypanel is nice but I couldn't get the buttons to perform effects (they just sit there, no push effect or mouse hover effect). So, I just installed perlpanel from the community repo with pacman and typing perlpanel returns "command not found". It seems to have installed in /usr/local/lib/. I have all the config files, but no binary.
thanks
EDIT: Found it under /opt

Command not found on running binary files.
I have a very strange problem with my new arch installation, which I never faced on other linux installations/distros.
I'm trying to execute binary files from android-sdk, which I have them from other distros and always worked, and I get always "command not found" message. For e.g I tried to run adb(5 different files from different places), from terminal and from the folder in which is each and all times I get "command not found" message.
Some other work though, as eclipse binary. All files I've tried worked fine, and also work fine if I run them from Ubuntu installation.
I had this problem and for some newly isntalled packages too, as packagkit, and rutorrent. Packagekit worked after a reboot, but rutorrent gives same message.

ORACLE_HOME disappeared, SQLPLUS - bash: sqlplus: command not found
OK, I am a newbie but am having real difficulty with my 10G DB which I had set up on Unix Solaris box but someone was messing around with it and now I can't see ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_BASE and ORACLE_SID, they all return blank when I try to "echo" each.
I realise I should have originally set it in Bash_profile, but is now too late.
So how do I set them back up, I cannot get SQLPLUS / AS SYSDBA.........bash: sqlplus: command not found
I have tried to reset and export but still doesn't work.
I got the ORACLE_BASE as:
training:/export/home/training/product/10.2.0/Db_1:N
but can't seem to set the three variables to run SQLPLUS, any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Tried messing around to reset but nothing works, this is the present state of affairs:
env
SSH_TTY=/dev/pts/3
USER=training
ORACLE_SID=training
ORACLE_BASE=/oracle/app
PATH=/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
PWD=/export/home/training/product/10.2.0/Db_1/bin
TZ=Eire
PS1=\e[33m\h\e[31m-\u-\e[33m\W/\e[31m-$\e[32m
SHLVL=3
HOME=/export/home/training
LOGNAME=training
ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/app/product/10.2.0
Can someone help me, really need a step by step guide to set these back up properly.

Package zzz not found in import (server side classes)
Hi,
I'm trying to use the "Web Application" feature in WL 5.10
(with no service pack). My application contains a couple of
servlets, a couple of server side classes, and a couple of
jsp pages.
I created the WEB-INF\classes directory structure both in
public_html and in my application's root directory. I
modified setEnv.bat to contain the two directories in
ClassPath and compilation of my servlets from the command
line completes OK (the servlets import a package that sits in
public_html\WEB-INF\classes).
However, when I try to import the same package from a jsp
file, I get the "package zzz not found in import" error
message. The trace shows that the java compiler invoked
after the servlet has been generated does not contain
public_html\WEB-INF\classes in the ClassPath, but contains
public_html\my_app\WEB-INF\classes.
How can I specify that the java compiler should look under
public_html\WEB-INF\classes for server side classes? Is there
another solution and am I even using the right approach?
Thanks,
Vladimir

You should install the service packs, your problem will probably
disappear then.
Web Apps are better supported with service packs.

Setting the WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH should do the trick. Look in weblogic
start file (On NT startWeblogic.cmd)

any ideas?Have all the users with GNOME started a root's Terminal window???
I've noticed that using the Gnome's root terminal messes up the $PATH variable (as of today)... when i start archlinux (note: i don't use GDM) my path is:
/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin....
and many other items... but when a root terminal is started inside gnome, $PATH changes to:
/usr/ucb:/bin:/usr/bin:/etc
And ldconfig will fail... (and any other tool in /sbin) this change is restricted to this window only. If you exit the root terminal and go to a normal terminal, the path is what is expected.
This happens on a clean reformatted machine, installed archlinux, doing a pacman -Syu, installing gnome and all extras (including system administrations tools) (as tested today).
Maybe some config file is messed or is a bug from the Gnome guys...
Anyways the only workaround i can think is to start a normal terminal (for the guys that use gnome or use GDM to start their machines) and in the terminal doing a "su -" to got root access (of course will ask for the password) and then update/install/whatever you want with pacman.
And sorry about my english.

Problem with kfmclient (command not found)
Today, I tried to run the CUPS web configuration tool, but it failed to run (ie. open the page in Firefox). I executed the command in the terminal to check for errors, and it said "kfmclient: command not found".
When I checked pacman for kfmclient, no such package exists. How do I install kfmclient?Just an additional information,
for 'command not found' problems, pkgtools in community should be helpful. It also have a bash hook to find the package automatically on that error.
Thanks, regards,
