Go to command in background freezes session. Any Ideas

I have an issue where Logic 8 and 9 locks me out if I use my "go to" key command (set to .) after recording while Logic is still processing the recording.
What happens is somehow in the background a second "go to" command is created, but it doesn't show up anywhere on screen, so it is impossible for me to hit OK or cancel. I only know this because on my Logic Control it shows up. When I hit OK or cancel on the Logic Control Logic it solves that problem, but Logic stops redrawing the screen which makes it impossible to work. If I don't hit OK or Cancel on the Logic control, then Logic doesn't respond to the mouse and in 9.0.1 gives me that white flash. The application menus at the top work, but almost everyhing is greyed out, or doesn't work. Luckily though Save usually works, but then I have to force quit and restart, which really slows down the recording process.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas? I already tried reinitializing my key commands and setting them up from scratch and that didn't work.

90 % of all crashes I have come from this same 'impatience'. My advice to you and to myself is: wait. Let the processing finish before hitting keys or tweaking controls. This especially applies to 'beachballs' (the spinning rainbow cursor). Don't touch your keys until it's gone.

If you think there's another window somewhere, just use the yellow button on the top left of the windows to get 'm out of the way.
"." may not be the best choice for this command, either. Easy to accidently hit when you depress the command key or spacebar. Suggestion: assign it to "g".

Sorry. There's nothing anyone can do. The current version of the facebook app will not run on 4.2.1. The iPhone 3G won't run anything higher than 4.2.1. You're stuck.
Maybe it's time to buy yourself a new iPod Touch.

If you're synchronizing Safari with iCloud, disable that temporarily and see whether there's an improvement.

Try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

Updated to Lion and now The Sims 3 freezes. Any ideas?

Recently upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard. The sims 3 was running fine on Snow Leapord but not seems to crash and not work at all on Lion. Any ideas why?

If the Sims 3 had been running under the Developer releases for NVidia 9400 and at the last minute Apple introduced something that broke previously checked code then shame on Apple. It's not inconcievable,
they blew a few other things with Lion, such as not having a convenient "run this App without any of the
trackpad enhancements" switch or providing a clear disclosure that PPC apps would stop working.
But, in this specific case I think you have to blame EA. At the absolute minimum they owed customer who they sold the Sims 3 to a warning that "Sims3 will not run under Mac OS X Lion with an NVidia 9400 graphics card."
And if anyone wants to initiate it, I'll join a class action here. EA is *still selling* the Sims 3 as being Mac OS X compatible. This is simply, and undeniably fraud.
Now if Apple were doing as good a job as they did a decade ago there would have been a simple switch to click to say "Run this application as though under 10.6". But they did give EA more than enough opprotunity to fix their application or at least warn users to delay an upgrade. This is also specific to something the Sims 3 does.
I'm running Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II fine, both under Transgaming's cider.

Burned DVD freezes.. any ideas?

Here's my problem, I hope someone might have a thought:
I've burned about 10 DVDs now, each of which are resulting in pretty much the same errors..
a) won't play the 3rd of 4 chapters, and
b) freezes to a still frame in random areas (and occasionally jumps ahead after this freeze to the start of the next chapter)
Here are my specs:
- PowerMac G5
- CPU: 2.5GHz
- Bus Speed: 1.25GHz
- OS: 10.4.8
- iMovie 6.0.3
- iDVD 6.0.3
- internal Superdrive single-layer DVD burner
- saving my iMovie work to a firewire LaCie 500GB (extended format)
Project info:
- footage copied from analog to miniDV, imported into iMovie
- movie length: 57 minutes
- 4 chapters, created in iMovie, carried over when shared to iDVD.
- using 5.0 version of "Memories" theme, with motion
- burning to Fuji 8x DVD-R
Here's what I've tried in hopes of a fix, per advise from other posts:
- deleted and recreated the chapter markers
- recreated fade outs/ins which fall adjacent to chapter markers
- deleted plist prefs for iMovie and iDVD
- reinstalled iDVD
- repaired disk permissions on startup drive
- attempted burns with both "Best Performance" and "Best Quality"
- deleted encoded assets
- removed enough footage to bring the original 1 hr, 35min. down to 57 min.
- tested the movie(s) on my Apple DVD player (it freezes in the place as on my Sony DVD player)
Questions:
- I read in another post to never place chapter markers at the beginning of the timeline or beside transitions. Surely not, since this is the obvious place to put them. Did I just misunderstand some good advice? I have markers both at the beginning of the footage, right before a quick fade-in and also between 3 different fade out/fade ins.
- Could the Fuji brand of DVD be an issue?
- What are the chances that I might stumble onto a solution with just the right "combination" of fixes from above?
- Does this seem to be an iDVD problem rather than an iMovie problem? Will an iMovie reinstall help?

It's still my best guess, but you never know until you try ...
Also, regarding disc image burns, will subsequent
burns go more quickly than the initial one (in the
same way that iDVD burns do)? I'm needing to burn
about 6 copies.
Yes. Each burn will involve only the time need to actually write the disc to writable media. BTW, I suggest wating a few minutes between burns - the internal drives seem a little short on cooling and there have been reports of errors 'creeping back in' when burning several discs in a row.

W2K server w/PCI CAN cards freezes. Any ideas?

We are running a pick-to-light system on the CANbus and the server locks up for no reason. Only recovery is to restart.

We're not sure what the issue is at this point. The computer is running pick-to-light software through the CANbus and carousel software through the network card. We have multiple sites running the carousel software alone and have not seen this situation before until we started installing the pick-to-light software.
I am attaching a Zip file to this with a snapshot of the NI-CAN System info. I am not sure we are running the latest version of the NI-CAN driver at this site. The server has Windows 2000 SP4. Perhaps your idea of re-applying the SP4 is a possible solution. I am going to the Dell support site to see if they have any reports of freeze-ups like we are experiencing.

Safari version 5.1.2 keeps loading pages slowly and eventually freezing. Any ideas on what the problem is?

I recently updated safari to version 5.1.2. And now all the time it loads everything frustratingly slow and then eventually freezes with the spinning wheel icon, forcing me to restart the computer (MacBook pro 2009). I am running Mac OSX Lion latest version.

Several things to try...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Deselect: Enable plug ins Quit then relaunch Safari. If Safari speeds up loading pages, troubleshooting help for > Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit, relaunch Safari.
Quit Safari. Open a Finder window select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder. Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
Check for Login Items: Open System Preferences/Accounts then select the Login Items tab. Delete any files or apps you have listed there. And go to /Library/Startup Items. Move any files in the Startup Items folder to the Trash.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
Try Safari in another user account. Same problems there, then log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility. /Applications/Utilities
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions). If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

Trackball/Phone Freezing! Any ideas?

Hi,
i recently got the 8900 and love it. Only problem being about a week ago the trackball has gone all funny. It will randomly freeze? the ball itself moves perfectly and doesnt get stuck but i cant scroll through icons etc on the screen.
If i give it a gentle tap it seems to fix the problem but if i lock the phone then unlock it it seems to freeze again. Is this the trackball or the phone freezing?
Whats the best solution to get it working?

A few suggestions:
-You can check and see if it's your trackball with a hardware check. This is from Blackberry Manuals:
Performing Hardware Check on Blackberry: type T E S T on Options >> Status Screen
-Clean your trackball. just google how-to's I'd say. I pull out my battery and use a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a tissue, let it dry for like 15 minutes, and then it's good to start up again.
-Check if memory cleaning is enabled: Options>>Security Options>>Memory Cleaning. One thing that might be causing the slowness is if you have it enabled. Enabling it cleans your phone of temporary crap that eats up memory, so I like to have it enabled, but it activates when you lock your phone.

With iOS 7 it is recommended that you have 15-20% of the storage space on the device free. For a 16 GB device that is 2.4-3.2 GB free. I suggest that you delete some stuff to allow for more free space on your iPad. It will run better.

See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?

Several privacy/ tracking add-ons, not sure which one causes this (MAC): clicking certain thumbnail photos (like @ some catalogs), opening some websites (like The Week), and even a calendar at my bank, my computer stalls then freezes. Any ideas?

The stall is 30-60 sec, then a tiny window pops up. No words, but two buttons at the bottom - gray/white on the left, blue on the right. Clicking these does nothing.
I CAN move the cursor, but CAN'T change or close tabs or scroll. I CAN use the top apple bar, but when I select "Restart" I get a "Firefox has prevented shutdown" error msg.
All I can do is manually press the power button and shut down that way.

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.
