Goi daddy hosting plan

Hello,
I have a go daddy hosting plan
but it says it is for linux does this matter?
also how do i get my page to run with this hosting plan? if it will work
Thanks
Ed

So I have a new hosting plan that supports ftp but
cannot transfer the domain name.
Why not? Certainly godaddy can fix that for you. In any case, they are the only ones who can help with it.

  • Help need to switch Muse site to BC on a allready hosted plan

Hi,  i also posted on BC forum...
I have a client that was in a hurry to have his emails accounts before the entire website.
So i went on and bought the email marketing plan (cos he will also need to do email campains) an pointed his domain everything is working fine, at this moment he has his accounts the domain is live.
The site would be just a small 7-10 pages not to complicated.
Has a graphic designer (who has venture into Business catalyst cos it had all the solutions i needed, well that's what the promotional videos said anyway) I made a site in Muse.
First i did a temporary page thats says "comming soon", and then i made the entire site, all the design and menu but with blank pages cos the client didnt have all the content yet (and still dont have). I uploaded that site to a sub directory so he could see the evolution.
    He approved the design, yay!
At the end of the process, he told me he needed to have full control with the editor. (style, images, bulleted list, need to put downloadable document like pdf etc.) i told him that he could only modify what was allready there with the Muse in Browser editing (that he saw when i made the pitch using another site) he was impress with the way it worked.
so i told him i would have to remake "template".
I thought of using a BC template, and modify the looks to adapt to my client image, Of course, use a responsive theme so he could make the change at one place only. (cos in Muse you need to make the changes on the 3 layouts).
Now, i created a new temporary site using one of the new responsive template available.
How can i import that new site onto his live domain? In other words, how can a switch from a theme made in Muse, to a BC template?
cant i just delete everything in the root folder, and upload the entire new site via ftp?
please help me find the solution. i am a bit in a panic here
hope you could understand my lousy English.
    Sincerely,
    i.d.

This would need to be transparent for m'y client...

    Thanks for additional details.
Unfortunately we cannot change site template of a live site in BC , but as a workaround Create a site from BC using the template you wish to use then publish the site from Muse to the site created from BC and transfer the contents stored from live site to trial site. Ater final transition is done , you can delete the already paid site and make live the new trial site which includes new site template.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Best hosting plan for iMac and PC editing?

I've been using iWeb for the past year on my personal site. I love its ease of use, not to mention how great everything looks.
Now I want to start another site with a more commercial flavor. The big difference with this one, though, is that I need to be able to update my site on my iMac at home AND my PC at work. I've yet to find a hosting plan or program that will allow me to do this efficiently. I'm thinking a web-based file manager might be my best option, but maybe there is something else out there that would be better. Would FTP be better? I have some experience with file managers but absolutely no experience with FTP.
This new site will mostly be set up in a blog style (several updates each day, permalinks, etc.), and I also want to be as flexible as possible in posting ads on the site. It seems some blogging software is fairly restrictive when it comes to ad flexibility.
Anybody have suggestions as to what might work best for my circumstances? I would appreciate any help.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    I'm thinking a web-based file
manager might be my best option, but maybe there is
something else out there that would be better. Would
FTP be better? I have some experience with file
managers but absolutely no experience with FTP.
Of course you can't use iWeb for your project, because it doesn't run on PC's, and you can't update an iWeb-created site without the app and the appropriate Domain file. So you presumably need to look at a cross-platform app like Dreamweaver.
As far as uploading technology, web-based file managers provided by the host are usually very limited and not to be recommended. You should use a real ftp client to get the best results, and major apps like Dreamweaver have this built-in.
Here's a list of Mac web editors. You might check to see which other ones have Windows versions.
    http://www.pure-mac.com/webed.html
The host is pretty irrelevant if you go that route.
Another option is to do everything on a site like Blogger, where you create your pages via a browser, rather than using a local web editor.

  • Publishing on .Mac versus another hosting plan

I published the same Blog on .Mac and another hosting plan and get different results. To publish to my hosting plan at aPlus.net I first publish to a folder on my disk and then ftp that folder to my host.
At ,Mac the Blog works fine. At aPlus.net when I click on the first entry I get the following error
    Not Found
The requested URL /Investing/Blog/Entries/2007/8/18The_week_afterpill….html was not found on this server.
Note the strange characers inserted after pilla....I have published the same stuff several times to a different folder and have ftp-ed several copies of this folder to aPlus. but the results are different compared to .Mac
You can check it out by going to these two sites and click on the first entry
    http://www.flemishDNA.com/Investing/Blog/Blog.html
This is the copy residing on .Mac
    http://www.dokuspublishing.com/Investing/Blog/Blog.html
this is the same blog residing at aPlus.net
Where do these strange characters come from and how come publishing to .Mac and to another host turn out to produce different results ?
    Anyone?

Non-.Mac servers sometimes have more restrictions on characters they will accept. Yours is perhaps not accepting the ellipsis in UTF-8.
One thing you could try is to put an .htaccess file in your web space with the entry "SecFilterEngine Off" and/or "SecFilterCheckUnicodeEncoding Off" (without quotes).
A utility for fixing filenames with accented characters is available here.

  • Hosting Plans -- Large Bandwidth needed!

I started my podcast back in late February, and I've switched servers a couple times, starting with my school's personal web server (however I recently graduated) and then moving to GoDaddy's biggest plan, which has 2,000GB of bandwidth monthly. However, my daily average is up to about 35GB and is continuing to climb at a decent rate (at the beginning of May it was 7GB daily average), and when I post new episodes it jumps to about 70GB or so. Given that I do a new episode every 2 to 4 days, I'm going to soon surpass the 2,000GB mark, and I need to find a much better solution, such as a host with unlimited bandwidth. I'm doing what I can to reduce filesize and whatnot, to help, but it's not enough, and within the next month or so, I'm going to start risking overage charges. I have a website and other things up as well as the podcast, so I need PHP/MySQL functionality, too.
To make a long story short...I need to know some good hosting services that have really high (I've seen some with 3,000GB of bandwidth but I would like to be optimistic and say that that would only help for a month or two) bandwidth allotments, preferably unlimited. Actual storage space that I need isn't too high, but bandwidth is my big concern.
Does anyone know any they would recommend?
    Alienware   Windows Vista

I think you really want unlimited data transfer instead of unlimited bandwidth. The thing you've got to watch out for with servers that give you unlimited data transfer is their slooow bandwidth.
Is your podcast audio or video? How many MB is each episode? Can you post only the most recent episode, or do you need more than one episode available for download simultaneously?
    1. If your podcast is video, upload it to: http://blip.tv/ and you're all set.
    2. If your podcast is audio, change it to video, see #1, you're all set.
    3. If your podcast is audio, trim it to fit into the webspace your ISP provides you free of charge, you're all set.
    4. If your podcast is audio and it won't fit into the webspace your ISP provides, you can host it yourself with a business connection like cable or T1. The bandwidth will be low, but the data transfer and storage space will be unlimited. This is an expensive solution unfortunately. This is what I did with my audio podcasts.
I tried one of those unlimited data transfer servers once before. Be prepared to be underwhelmed with their lack of performance, lack of reliability, and lack of customer support... Admittedly, I only tried one of them before doing it myself. Hopefully others are better.

  • Dreamweaver and Go Daddy Hosting

Hello, I have a website at www.debbiebradley.com, where there
is a "contact me" form. I have hosting from Go Daddy ( and it's too
late to change!) and their tech support isn't familiar w/ DW. I've
seen another forum topic about this, but after following it as much
as I could, my form still doesn't work. I'm using gdform.php as the
action, and POST as the method.
    Could someone please help!!!!? Thanks

DW is not part of the equation here.
    Please define "doesn't work."
In the meantime, all I can say is to get rid of the spaces in
    your names/ids
on your form fields. Any problem will be with gdform.php (or
    with you not
setting up the form the way the script expects).

  • Individual adobe connect pro (monthly plan & host plan) is limited to 25 attendees?

    Hi everyone
I need to create a meeting for 75 attendes in the same webconference during only one month,.
I would like to buy online the Monthly Plan of "Individual Adobe Connect" but I see in the web that is limited to 25 attendees per hosts.
Do I have to buy 3 hosts to get a webconference for 75 attendees (3x25)? (just I need!)
    OR
If I buy 3 hosts I'll get 3 webconferences for 25 attendees each one? (this option I don't want!)
    Thanks in advanced to everyone

You'll need to call the business number and see what the options are. For corporations, government agencies the host licensing model is 100 users per meeting. But there is a minimum purchase amount so the cost may not be what you want. There are two licensing models: named host which is what you are seeing on the web page and concurrent license model which allows virtually unlimited numbers in a room.
Here is the number for Sales: 888-649-2990
Other options are to call our partners that host Adobe Connect:

  • Go daddy hosting

    Hi Guys,
I have a go daddy web hosting account. I would like to create an iweb web site and upload it to my godaddy web hosting account.
    Here are my questions:
Can you tell me how to do this?? Specifically do I need some type of FTP program or something specific to upload it?
    Second,
As I am developing the site I realize that some features are very specific to .mac hosting. Which ones will not work with my go daddy account and which ones should I avoid when creading my new site?

    Hi,
I have a couple websites hosted with godaddy and recently played with iweb.
you need to create your site and publish to a folder. Make sure you mention the name of the final URL (like: www.lahuttelurette.be which is mine) when it is publishing so you will create the correct link for your index page.
Once you have published to a folder (I use the folder site on my mac/user and since I have more then one website i play with, i create various accounts on my mac) and from the site folder, I use an ftp program (transmit/panic) and it uploads everything on my account. It works very well. I never had any of the problems people report on their .mac account.
I also have a .mac but i only need it to synchronise between my macs
you have the answer about the feature that won't work on godaddy.
tell me if this answers your question

  • Multiple Domains/Website On Single Hosting Plan

I currently host my website with a shared hosting company
that uses the latest version of ColdFusion MX.
I recently registered a second domain and pointed it to the
same IP address. I found some code on another ColdFusion forum that
allows you to direct users to subfolders depending on the domain
(cgi.server_name) in their request (see attached code).
Here's my sample file structure (names are changed to protect
    the innocent)...
    / (Root)
application.cfm (With The Attached Code In It)
    index.cfm
    /FOLDER1/ (Folder For domain1.com Content)
    index.cfm
    janeway.cfm
    chakotay.cfm
    /FOLDER2/ (Folder for domain2.com Content)
    index.cfm
    picard.cfm
    riker.cfm
The browser calls the proper file only when I use:
    http://www.domain1.com/
    http://www.domain2.com/
    http://www.domain1.com/index.cfm
    http://www.domain2.com/index.cfm
It looks like that in order for it to access any file, say
/folder2/picard.cfm, there needs to be a picard.cfm in the root as
    well.
Is there a configuration difference between my server and the
person who wrote the original code; I can't imagine that the person
who wrote the code overlooked such an obvious flaw. Perhaps there's
a better way to go about this all-together?

    Hi,
We are into a situation where we need to authenticate users of two domains and these two domains are completely independent (no common DNS server). ISE is not able to resolve one of the domain using the DNS server settings and Adding a host entry for the domain name is not sufficient since Kerberos, GC and LDAP SRVs need to be resolvable as well.
From what I know ISE 1.3 should supports disjointed domains and there is no requirement for ISE to have 2 way trust relationship with domains.
Please share your experience if someone has faced similar situation before.
    Regards,
    Akhtar

  • Can I upload a joomla site to Adobe Business Catalyst hosting plan?

    thanks

Short and long answer, no. The HTML templates could be uploaded / reworked to display, but BC isn't Joomla so bar some Javascript functionality inside the templates nearly everything isn't going to work or look as planned.

  • CGI Script for Go Daddy hosting

I just transferred my website to GoDaddy web hosting. I m
trying to figure out what script or code to use for my Form, but
nothing seems to work. Does anybody know about this? Also, what to
put into the Property Inspector for Form Action and Method and Enc
    Type. Many,many thanks!

    Just ignore the naysayers?
Why? Are our experience with GoDaddy invalid, trivial or a
    fluke compared to yours?
"With difficulty on the way"..... Why? Is this something that
might have been avoided without so many restrictions on server
functionality? I had some very friendly reps there try to help, and
they were great, but they couldn't resolve a some "known" issues.
Is the "difficulty" you experienced something a person new to
building websites would find more difficult than you did? Do you
use other hosts where you can say you have experienced the same
    difficulty?
    Please don't take me wrong.
I used to be in the same position as you. I had a few sites,
including 2 Cartweaver sites, hosted there with no problem. I think
the reason I had no problems was in large part to the fact that I
didn't need support in setting up things like database connections
and so on. I was able to figure out how to do things on the servers
from experience, with some work arounds.
I do remember thinking a few times that it would have been
very difficult doing some of the things I did if I were still
learning, especially with a couple ecommerce sites. That's the
    point.
I saw many complaints and issues in this forum as well as
others, including Cartweaver's newsgroups, about dynamic sites
there and I didn't "ignore" all of the naysayers even though I
    hadn't had trouble yet.
I figured there must be some truth to their experience. They
    certainly weren't making things up.
Besides, who was I to say my experience was the norm and
others should expect the same because that's how it is for me?
I did have better support and service, with less "difficulty"
and restrictions at a few other hosts I was using, but it wasn't a
big issue as I wasn't having major trouble at GD.
    Unfortunately, my luck ran out.
However, because I didn't ignore the naysayers I had decided
to test them longer before migrating more sites. It's a good thing
I did, and I'm grateful to those who shared their experiences,
because I only had to move a few sites off and not many more.
The latest was a "known issue" on a certain server causing an
HTTP error intermittently, for hours. For weeks, I went back and
forth as it was "fixed" and reappeared again. This was a Cartweaver
    site.
Obviously, the client pulled the plug. You can't hang an
"Open intermittently" sign on an online store.
The site was moved, with no changes what-so-ever to any code,
to another host. The problem immediately disappeared, and has
    remained gone.
I do still have 1 CW site hosted with them that hasn't had
major trouble yet. It's on another server and low traffic.
The point is, I have experienced trouble too many times that
cost time and money and shouldn't have.
There is value to this experience, and others who have had
    the same.
You can certainly say you've had no trouble, and that's
great. There's value in that, as well.
However, telling someone relatively new to just "ignore"
issues that others have had doesn't make sense to me.
If some web developers have reported trouble, isn't it a good
idea to do some research or at least see how one site works there
for a while before putting up a lot more?
Experiences others have had, especially when they are trying
to help someone new, shouldn't be ignored just because yours is
different. You can't guarantee the person will have the same
experience as you, so all points of view should be listened to and
    weighed.
    Take care,
    Tim

  • Considering OS X Server instead of my current hosting plan

Hey all, I currently have a cloud based server package with lunarpages. The stats are roughly
    50 GB of space
    1000 GB of bandwidth
    1 IP Address
    2 GB of RAM
    Costing roughly : $100 a month
On my hosting package above, i run a Xenforo forum which is fairly busy and popular, and 2 Wordpress sites which get next to no traffic at all. However, my server is constantly crashing and i have to wait for an eternity for the hosts to fix it for me.
Due to all of this, i am thinking about purchasing a Mac Mini with OS X Server installed, and getting a business broadband line installed in my house (i work from home). It appears i can get a business internet connection installed at my house, for somewhere around £50 a month, which i think comes with a dedicated IP address.
I have zero experience with running a server, never tried before, but i'm reasonably comfortable with techinical stuff, do some slight coding here and there and *think* i could piece things together from online guides/forums.
Does everyone think this sounds reasonable? Given that i have zero experience with this, is it a good idea?
I would be reducing my monthly fee slightly, although i would have to buy the Mac Mini, but then i would gain basically a dedicated server, rather than some small cloud server.
We are also a Mac household, flooded with Ipads, Macbooks and iPhones already and it looked like they work together nicely with the server
    Thanks for any input

OK, great. Yeah, I'd say you're in a good position to make the transition. The reason I ask about TimeMachine is because the MacMini server comes with two drives, which is perfect for creating a TimeMachine backup of your server.
I will throw one important bit of advice out: Buy this book... http://shop.oreilly.com/product/9780596100575.do One of the biggest gotchas of OS X Server administration, neh, server administration, is understanding and working with DNS. This book is considered the bible of DNS and will really put you in a position to be knowledgable and successful at administration.

    Here's the message I got:

    Hello Maxime Rouiller,
The issue of not being able to create a new App Service Plan is now fixed. I tried to reproduce this and was able to create the App Service Plan Successfully.
You should now be able to create the App Service Plan from the New portal.
