Google App for iChat?

Hi ..
I use google app for education .. [email protected] account
and when I log on to gmail, i can see my google chat on the left side and it works fine on my gmail page
however,
when i try to log onto ichat via jabber or google talk
it says that my pw or id is incorrect .. but my id and pw is correct !!
i tried typing in talk.google.com, changing servers, checking ssl box and everything but it didn't work..
Somethings that I also tried :
1. when i go to
https://www.google.com/accounts/UnlockCaptcha? to unlock i get a msg saying that
"The username or password you entered is incorrect."
2. when i go to
https://www.google.com/a/university.edu/UnlockCaptcha
i can see my school logo sign and id and pw boxes but when i put my data
it says"Username and password do not match" but again.. it's correct !! i tried multiple times
I'm getting msg that my id or pw is incorrect every time..
but i am putting in correctly !

Hi,
From what you say you seem to be entering the details correctly.
On the Google Account Pages (you should be able to get there from a link top right of the Google Mail Page)
You should check that Talk is Enabled.
(From what you say it is but this may be a generic thing with the Educational account)
In iChat's Add account pane it is possible to use the Google option (In iChat 4 and 5 this gets around the talk.google.com name issue)
If you choose the Jabber option you need to go to the Server Settings tab after the set up is complete and change the server name to talk.google.com
You may need this as the name of the account is not a Standard naming that I can see (no googlemail or gmail.com)
SSL and port 5223 should be default.
Some accounts at Google are not Google Mail accounts. (your account may be something in between)
These can still have Talk Enabled
However they need to be set up as a Jabber accounts in iChat.
In the Server Settings tab the server needs to be google.com
Also, sometimes, using port 443 helps.

  • Calendar on MacBook Pro using Mavericks 10.9 will not sync with Google Apps for Business

Ever since the Mavericks upgrade, I have had problems syncing my MacBook Pro Calendar with my Google Apps for Business Accopunt.  When Mavericks first came out, I could do a work-around and set up a second CalDev account and that worked for a while.  But with the most recent update to Mavericks, in part apparently to solve Google integration issies, the Calendar app will not sync either through the mail account setup in System pref, or by setting up a separate CalDev account.  I have no functioning Calendar on my MacBook, thogh the CalDev account option works fine on my iPhone and iPad, and of course all work on the PC with Google Apps Sync.
Appreciate any advice, or better appreciate if Apple were to get this right ASAP.

Thank you for your answer, unfortunately that is not the solution. I found the plug-in where it was already properly installed in the Root Level Library>Internet Plug-ins Folder.  It was NOT to be found in the [User Name]>Library>Internet Plug-Ins Folder, so I copied it there from the Root Level Folder, Rebooted, deleted all cookies, signed in to Netflix, and I still get the same:
    Thanks for installing
Once installation is complete please restart your browser to watch this movie.
So, I tried a complete re-install of Mavericks OSX 10.9, from scratch. I checked all Internet Plug-In Folders and the latest version Silverlight Plug-in is in all of them. Still, I get the same:

  • TS3899 Custom Domain of Gmail account(google app for business) greyed out(disabled) in iOS7 mail for no reason.

    Dear guys,
I have a free/standard version of google app for business with @simmonstaiwan.com.tw as our domain. One of our user's email account one day suddenly cannot access her email account that was already setup in iOS 7 mail app. Only her company gmail acct grey out, her other personal email accounts are working just fine.
First, I thought it was her iPhone5's issue. Therefore I tried to remove the email account and re-added it back. No work. So I thought maybe it's the custome domain gmail account issue. So, I added her email account to my iPhone4s with iOS7 with correct account name and password. Still not working, the account added successful and is enable, but I just cannot click into or onto that account and see any emails. That account name just greyed out for no reason.
So, I grab an iPad with iOS6 on it and added that account onto the machine. It worked!! Looks like that email account(gmail) only worked on iOS6 device but not iOS7. May I know maybe what really caused this to occur?
Any comments or suggestions or thoughts are very welcome and will be helpful for me to debug.
    Best Regards,
    Jay Lin

You set it up, and you failed to distinguish between the SMTP servers or assign the correct one to your copy of Mail (it doesn't actually know which is which, you need to inform it)
Open Mail>Preferences>Accounts (NOT Mail>Accounts) and go down to the SMTP server list, choose the correct server for each account then check the box that says 'Use Only This Server' for each account.
This is not automatic, you get to choose and if you don't then this will result.
    Remove the non functional ones.

Using Microsoft Exchange to access Gmail (Google Apps for Business) contacts, what is the best way to sync the Corporate Directory? For instance, we have 40 staff members and wish to populate each phone with the Gmail profile. Right now we have a third party Android app that does this and copies my contacts to each phone. This is problematic. Any solutions to populate a phone with email and phone contacts? Even it it requires double entry for me...thats ok.

  • EPrint does not work with Google Apps for Business (hosted email)

I have looked up numerous posts, from back into 2011 even, and HP still has not resolved this.
HP's ePrint does not work with companies using Google Apps for Business (hosted email).
Our emails come from our domain, but from the servers/DNS of Google, so we wind up getting
the "550 5.7.1 Command Rehected" error.
This is a major issue as more and more companies (especially small business owners) are moving away
from having in-house/Exchange servers, and they are moving toward hosted systems.
You really need to find a way to stop rejecting emails coming from Google Apps hosted email.
It's been around 4 years now (looking at previous posts). Why hasn't HP found a resolution to this yet?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.
They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.
Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.

  • CFMAIL and Google Apps for Your Domain

    Hello everyone,
I'd like to host our email accounts using "Google Apps for
Your Domain" (basically GMail for business), and then use the
Coldfusion (MX 7) implementation in GoDaddy.com to send emails out
    from a website hosted there.
So my question is, has anyone managed to send emails from
coldfusion using Google Apps as the mail system?

Wait - are you saying that GoDaddy forces even dedicated

I'm trying to set up my Apple Mail so my Google Apps for my domain works on my Mac without having to go through Google. I can receive emails to my Google Apps account, but I can't send them through Apple Mail. It says my message "was rejected by the server smtp.gmail.com." I thought I set up the account properly, but I guess not. Any help is much appreciated.

  • Best push email domain solution (Google apps for Domains?)

What email service provider offers the best iPhone push email support. Obviously, Mac OS X Server 10.6 would be the best, but as far as third party options that can host your domain's email accounts and get you push on the iPhone and IMAP in Apple Mail?
Looking at Google Apps for Domains, but concerned about how it has to have two of each message to work with IMAP correctly.
    Thanks for any thoughts!

  • I'm having trouble setting up my Google Apps for Education email address in the mail app

I have tried several times and different ways to add my .edu email account to the iOs system through the mail app on both my mac and my iphone. It is run through Google apps for education, so it uses gmail as a platform but is addressed as my school's title. On a few occasions it wouldn't accept it to add, on others it connected but wouldn't access the email account once it was added.

The approaches available may differ depending upon which operating system you have.  I am running OS 10.8.4 and on my computer, the following works:
Go to System Preferences and select Mail, Contacts, & Calendars.
From the right, choose Gmail; this should open an dialogue box, where you should enter:
Your name (as you wish it to appear)
Email address (should include the @whatever.edu, where whatever is the appropriate university extension--it should be .edu, not gmail.com)
    The password on the account.
Choose the applications you want to sync with your computer and click Add Account. You will probably get an error about Mail Server Discovery, but click Continue anyway.
Launch your Mail application and it should have you setup your account. Choose/enter the following:
    Account type: IMAP
Title Description: (put whatever you want the account titled, it's up to you)
Incoming Mail Server: type in imap.gmail.com
User Name: put your full email username, including the @whatever.edu
Password: put your email password again
Configure the outgoing mail server with:
Description: whatever you want it called
Outgoing Mail server: type in smtp.gmail.com
    Check the option Use Authentication
Username: type your full username, including the @whatever.edu
Enter your password and click Continue and then Create.
    That should be it.

  • NDR for emails sent from Exchange Server where domain was recently moved to Google Apps for Education

We have an exchange server that has several accepted domains.  One of those domains, littleflowerparish.org, has been moved to Google Apps for Education.  Emails that are sent from other schools on the exchange server are receiving NDR messages,
Diagnostic information is below.  The exchange server is housed at a seperate school, which is where the generating server is coming from.  Do I need to remove a setting from the DNS area of spnserver?
I have removed the domain littleflowerparish.org from any address policies it was in, and have removed it from the accepted domain list.  The user accounts are still on the server as users need access to them for some time.
    Thoughts?

According to the error code from NDR, #5.5.0 smtp;553, it seems the Exchange server treats the eamil as a spam.
Please check the server spnserver.stphilipindy.org just as Ed said.

  • Mimecast setup with Google Apps for Work

I like to use http://mxtoolbox.com/ to check my work. Have you checked that, as well?

HelloWe have Google Apps for Work and we are moving away from Postini/Google Apps Message Encryption (GAME) and on to Mimecast. I thought I configured everything correctly but when I went to to do the switch in the MX records to have email following through Mimecast, I was not able to send email from outside our domain to our domain. Example, [email protected] emailed [email protected] and the email would show in Mimecast but would not be delivered the [email protected]'s inbox. Mimecast showed an error of "No Inbound Route". In Mimecast I configureda route definition and policyunder "Policy Route Delivery". When Icontacted Mimecast support they told me that the Google Smarthost was incorrect. I can't seem to find Google's Smarthost.Any help would be appreciated.Thank You

  • Google Apps for Multiple Users

My wife uses Youtube app on the iPad Air with iOS 7.1.1. She signs in to Youtube with her Google account. I installed Gmail app on that iPad and signed in using my Google account. My wife's Youtube app gets kicked out. Youtube now has my account credentials. I sign out of Youtube app to let my wife use her account. That kicks me out of Gmail app.
Is there a way to keep the 2 apps running with 2 different Google accounts?

I think you need to ask Google.  I have a similar issue - trying to use google 2 part authentification on a specific financial app means I have to use the same approach for all other google products on my phone.  I dont want to do that just to get my mail.
They are trying so hard to be universal - and in some cases it makes great for 1 signup to work for all of their products - but sometimes it just gets in the way.

  • Office 365 vs Google Apps?

I wanted to share a recent guest post by the CEO of Champion Solutions Group on behalf of Sanjeevini Mittal on how customers find Office 365 vs Google Apps. What is your experience?
    Today’s
guest blogger is Chris Pyle, president and CEO of Champion Solutions Group, an award-winning Microsoft Gold partner that helps
small and medium enterprises develop cloud strategies and deploy cloud solutions. Founded in 1979, Champion has 22 offices in 11 states and is the parent company for MessageOps, which focuses exclusively on helping customers move seamlessly to the Microsoft
Cloud. The two companies have helped hundreds of customers migrate to Office 365.
At Champion Solutions Group, we focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that range from about 250 to 2500 seats. We have helped hundreds of business, education and government customers migrate a total of about 700,000 seats to Office 365. As part of our
work, we have helped many customers migrate to Office 365 from Google Apps, including several who previously had left Microsoft for Google.
In working with our customers, we focus on operational efficiencies, making sure the organizations that adopt the Office 365 platform really make the most of it. Just because you migrate to Office 365 doesn’t mean you’re done. That’s Day One. There’s still
Day Two (how you set everything up) and Day Three (how you collaborate and leverage the power of Office 365). We help our customers with all three stages.
Why customers choose Office 365 over Google Apps:  For organizations that switch from Google Apps to Office 365, the number one reason is that they find Office 365 is easier to use
and offers greater productivity than Google Apps. Because it is enterprise-grade and much more business-focused than anything Google can offer, customers also say that Office 365 is more robust than Google Apps.
As an example, one of our customers is a large grocery chain on the East Coast, with more than 10,000 users in many different locations. When the company decided to abandon Google Apps and adopt Office 365, the top two reasons were the usability and robustness
of Office 365. In fact, one of the main reasons the company finally decided to switch to Office 365 was that employees complained so much about Google Apps. They said it was very cumbersome and didn’t work for them. They just didn’t find Google Apps as productive
    as Office 365.
Choice is another important factor for many organizations when they are considering different cloud solutions. When we ask our customers why they choose Microsoft over Google Apps, many say that having a choice of cloud, on-premise or hybrid solutions gives
them the flexibility to meet their business needs. With Google, the cloud is the only option. Customers like having a productivity solution they can tailor to their business.
Office 365 is more cost-effective than Google Apps:  There’s an immediate cost benefit to customers who choose a cloud solution. They save money on the initial capital outlay, and they
can convert those savings to operational investments, but the cost-effectiveness of any solution is about more than the initial price tag.
When customers are choosing a cloud solution, they ask questions about productivity, security, and how well it works. Microsoft provides positive answers to all of those questions. In our experience, the productivity suite that Microsoft delivers with Office
365, compared to Google Apps, makes it the “right way” for most organizations.  Over the long term, Office 365 is often the most cost-effective choice.
The bottom line:  What we offer our customers when we help them migrate to Office 365 is a way to transform how they work, to innovate, and to come up with better ways to make a difference
to their customers. Once our customers begin to understand and use the full capabilities of Office 365, they report a significant increase in productivity,
with their employees doing a tremendous amount of work from almost any location, on any of their devices, and being much more collaborative.

I am grandfathered into a Google Apps account with 50 seats. I also pay for a 5 user seat Office 365 account. My personal domains are on Google Apps and my business domains are on Office 365. How both services are great, I prefer Office 365 to Google Apps
any day of the week. Now, I am a huge Google user. But my eco-system is so Microsoft heavy, I will stick with Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1 OS's for now. But that is not the only reason. Google Apps is simple. That is what makes Google Apps so strong is
that it is simple to use. Office 365 is robust. That is what makes Office 365 so strong is that it is robust. Now, the major difference. Office 365 is a little harder to use and set up than Google Apps is. A small company of 5 users may benefit with Google
Apps if they do not have an IT department. With Office 365, if you have 20 users, I will suggest some kind of geek working there to handle some of the IT because Office 365 is a little too robust. For me, my business, I like robust. I prefer the features of
Office 365 over Google Apps. I like the control I have over Office 365. Google Apps does not give you control, it is straight forward. For some companies, Google Apps may be great for them. For large large enterprises, they may want to consider Office 365.
Though, there are a lot of large enterprises settling with Google Apps. Either way, it all depends on the needs of the company. Both services are good. I just prefer Office 365 and my opinions are just as valid as someone who prefers Google Apps.
