Gow can I acsess an Object?

Question

I have an application, which have to build buttons dynamically. I get an Array with button objects as an JMS object Message. Do add the buttons to the GUI I do something like:
for ( i = 0; i < array.lenght; i++) {
Button button = (button) objectMessage;
} My question is how can I acsess one particular button from outside. Say an event elsewere should change the buttons state. How can I do that?
Please help, I need that for my final exam in school!!!

I forgot to write:
for (int i = 0; i < array.lenght; i++) {
JButton button = (JButton) objectMessage;
button.addActionListener(this) //that I forgot, ups
add(button);
}
