GP process action details in Web dynpro

Hi
I want to get the list of action  and the actions details for a GP Process in web dynpro callable object.
Can anyone please help me.

Hi Ritu/Shanto,
I havenu2019t found a way to use GP API inside WebDynpro CO to get Action ID.
Using IGPExecutionContext you can get the Process ID and Task ID and using these IDs, you canu2019t reach Action ID (there arenu2019t Interface/Class/Method to get that by a reverse way).
What is your requirement? May be there are other ways to do that.

    The user creates the Activity and the manager approves it.
    I have to make sure the User Details are avaialble for the Manager to see.

    Hi Gaurav,
    Make use of background callable object which retrieves the logged in user details. If you are using WD and you need the logged in user infomation use the IWDClient . Code for getting this is there in sap help.

    How to enable/disable the input fields based on the data entered in the web dynpro application abap?  If the user enters data in one input field then only the next input field should be enabled else it should be in disabled state. Please guide.

    Hi,
    Try this code.
    First create a attribute with the name readonly of type wdy_boolean and bind it read_only property of input field of which is you want to enable or disable.
    Next go to Init method.
    Set the readonly value as 'X'.
    DATA lo_el_context TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
         DATA ls_context TYPE wd_this->element_context.
         DATA lv_visible TYPE wd_this->element_context-visible.
    *   get element via lead selection
         lo_el_context = wd_context->get_element( ).
    *   @TODO handle not set lead selection
         IF lo_el_context IS INITIAL.
         ENDIF.
    *   @TODO fill attribute
    *   lv_visible = 1.
    *   set single attribute
         lo_el_context->set_attribute(
           name =  `READONLY`
           value = 'X').
    After that Go to the Action  ENTER.
    First read the input field ( first input field, which is value entered field) , next give a condition
    if input value is not initial  then set the readonly value is '  '.

         lo_nd_input = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_input ).
    *   @TODO handle non existant child

  • How process HTTP-parameters in Web Dynpro?

    Hello,
    as a beginner in Web Dynpro I would like to know if and how it's possible to read http-parameters, e.g. those of "javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest" in a WD component..
    When I call a WD application by a URL, it could be done from another SAP-Web application where the Request-parameters have been filled - and I want to display/process the contents in WD.
    Hope there is a solution for that -
    Regards,
    Jens

    Hi Jens,
    you can access HTTP parameters via the WDWebContextAdapter:
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04/current/wd/com/sap/tc/webdynpro/services/sal/adapter/api/IWDWebContextAdapter.html
    You can call in wdDoInit() for instance
    String Name = WDWebContextAdapter.getWebContextAdapter().getRequestParameter("parameter-name");

  • Access portal system details in Web Dynpro ???

    Hello All,
    I have a requirement such that in my Web Dynpro application, I need to figure out that the backend R/3 it is trying to connect to, is it a unicode or a non unicode system.
    For this purpose, we maintain an additional alias name for the portal system starting with UNI_ if its a unicode box or NONUNI_ if its a non-unicode box.
    Is there any other better way of storing this information.
    <b>I need to know, how can we fetch all the alias names maintained for a sytem in portal using Web Dynpro APIs.</b>
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance,

  • How to trigger action dynamically in Web Dynpro ABAP?

    Hi,
    I need to trigger an action dynamically. How do I do that?
    Eg. I have Search Tab where I input Purchase Order Number and press Find button to get the PO details.
    Now I have an Overview Tab where I have listed all the Purchase Orders, after selecting a purchase order I click the Transfer button on the Overview Tab, on clicking on transfer button I navigate to the Search Tab and the PO number selected in Overview Tab is binded and appears in the Search Tab.
    In the same flow I also want to trigger the action without clicking on Find button of Search Tab so that I get the search results.
    Please let me know how to go about doing this.
    Thanks
    Samekshaa

    fire plugs in Search Tab as it has multiple UI view containers which displays different views in the Search tab.
    can you elaborate on that ...  a clear explaination of what u intend to do will be of great help.
    Outbound Plugs can have Parameters. so you can still decide what plug to fire , further when in the details view.
    i dont think there is option of raising ONACTION automatically because framework create an EVENT object for each action, at the most you can transfer this EVENT as Parameter to other methods.

  • Web Dynpro application callable object error: Page Builder Not available

    Hi, SDN Fellow.
    I created a callable object of Web Dynpro application. The callable object is atatched to an Action, and Action --> Block, and Block --> Process.
    I initiate the process in GP Runtime, when it comes to the Action screen the Web Dynpro application atatched to, I got the following error:
    The page builder required to display this application UI inside the portal environment is not available.
    As aa comparison, another callable object that atatched to a Web Dynpro component (that implement GP interface) is working fine.
    Please advise.
    Thanks in advance,
    KC

    Hi KC,
    When you start your process from GP Runtime, does the actual action/callable object open in a new window?
    Have a look at this SAP Note:
    [Error when executing a GP task - Page builder|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_bc_gp/~form/handler%7b5f4150503d3030323030363832353030303030303031393732265f4556454e543d444953504c4159265f4e4e554d3d393831353137%7d]
    Although the error message you are getting is different, but if your callable object opens in a new window, then the problem (in most probability) is the same as mentioned in the SAP Note.
    Also, try testing the Web Dynpro callable object in standalone mode. For more information on this, see:
    [Testing Callable Objects|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/4c/588041a17e060de10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm]

  • Window size, and navigation issues with Web Dynpro and GP

    I have a Web Dynpro application which navigates to other Web Dynpro applications.  I also need to integrate this application into a GP.  When I create a process that calls the Web Dynpro app, two things I've noticed are:
    1. The window size presented in the GP process is too small, and there is no way to scroll to see the rest of the app.  How can I change the initial size of the Window to show the entire application?  This is an absolute show stopper...
    2. Other functionality is made available to the Web Dynpro app by navigating to other Web Dynpro applications.  Outside of the GP, this works correctly.  However, from within the application when started via a GP, I get the following error when I try to trigger an action that will lead to a navigation event:
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Cannot navigate via outbound plug CreatePdf of view TestView because there is no navigational link attached to it
        at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.view.View.navigate(View.java:541)
        at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.view.View.navigate(View.java:462)
    Any ideas? Do I have to manually instantiate the various components when the root Web Dynpro app is called from a GP?

    Update: this was my mistake - I had neglected to configure all the view containers in the WebDynproCO window, which was generated by adding the GP interface to the component.  All is well.

  • Transport issue when copying a web dynpro component

    Hello All.
    I have a web dynpro component lets say ZTest and now I want to copy this, I gave the new one a different name i.e. ZFINAL, now when I copied, it asked me for the trasnport and when I asked to create a new transport I got this message "Class ZIWCI_ZFINAL does not exist" and then I clicked the green arrow again and it created a transport for me. After this process I activated my web dynpro component successfully, my web dynpro component has 3 views and 3 windows. When I looked at my new transport (for ZFinal),  I only saw three tasks attached to teh transport i.e. 1. Interface 2. Info Object from the MIME Repository and 3. Web Dynpro Component but I didn't see Controller (Web Dynpro), Definition (Web Dynpro) and View (Web Dynpro) attached to my transport. Now I wonder when I release my transport to Q I may have issues.
    Note: My old trasnport (which has Ztest)has all the missing objects: (Web Dynpro), Definition (Web Dynpro) and View (Web Dynpro)

    I resolved it myself.. I had to write the transport entry manually for the views and windows and even the component controller definition.

  • Web Dynpro ABAP: Documentation and help link

    Hi,
    I'm in the process of creating a Web Dynpro ABAP application and was wondering whether you can maintain Documentation for the application, as you would a standard ABAP report? I see the Documentation option in the Goto menu of the workbench, but it is inactive.
    Also, i notice you can maintain a 'Help Link' for the application. Does anyone have any information on this as I can't find anything on the SAP Help website.
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi Nick,
    here's the link to the corresponding documentation:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/54/bad1d244b2754bac09ae1558c15984/frameset.htm
    If you choose the Change/Edit button at the right side of the input field, you can navigate to the info object to which you want to set the link in the Knowledge Warehouse.
    Of course, you need an info object in the correct context in the KW for this as well as a correctly maintained RFC destination to the Knowledge Warehouse system.

  • Implementing cache for dropdown values in Web Dynpro Iview

    Hi All,
             I am currently in the processing of enhancing a web dynpro application which contains among other things around 15 drop down boxes. The values in these drop down boxes are coming from oracle database and these values change occasionally.
            To optimize the response time, I have implemented simple caching machanism using static  variable in plain java class. The objective is to retrieve the values for the first time from oracle db and use the same datastructure for subsequent calls. Though I have found that the number of calls to the database reduced significantly I am facing some problem understanding and implementing the cache refresh behaviour.
          I want to implement a cache refresh machanism for every 12 hours.
        Solutions tried.
                   Creating a thread to refresh the cache for every 12 hours.
                   Creating a timer for refreshing the cache for every 12 hours.
        Problems encountered :
        1.  Is it appropriate to use threads in a web dynpro app?
        2.  What I have observed is that  the thread (I have created a daemon thread) is alive even after I have deployed a new copy of the code.  When I deploy a new code is it not supposed to remove all copies from the memory?
           If using a daemon thread is appropriate, What is the web dynpro
              framework's class loading behavior when a new copy of code is deployed?
             Does it completely unload existing classes (there by killing the daemon thread
                   created in previous deployment)?
       3. Assuming that we have found suitable solution for thread issues, what would  happen when the application is deployed on a cluster? Can we send a message to
            all the nodes in the cluster?
    I would like to understand what other developers has done in these kind of situations. Your experience and insight will be valuable and help me decide to implement caching or not in  the first place.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Pallayya Batchu

    Pallayya,
    <i>1. Is it appropriate to use threads in a web dynpro app?</i>
    Not recommended as with any J2EE application
    <i>2. What I have observed is that the thread (I have created a daemon thread) is alive even after I have deployed a new copy of the code. When I deploy a new code is it not supposed to remove all copies from the memory?</i>
    Re-deployment doesn't mean stopping all user spawned threads. It just causes unloading of classes if there are no hard references from anything but deployed application. In your case, there are probably references from Thread/Runnable so your previous version is not unloaded on redeployment.
    <i>3. Assuming that we have found suitable solution for thread issues, what would happen when the application is deployed on a cluster? Can we send a message to all the nodes in the cluster?</i>
    Probably you can, probably you cannot. Even if you can it would be complex.
    My advise -- abandon threads altogether, use real cache instead:
    package com.yourcompany.yourapp.utils;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.Map;
    public class ValueHelpCache {
      private static class Entry {
        long lastLoadTime;
        Map  payload;
        Entry(final Map payload) {
          this.payload = payload;
          this.lastLoadTime = System.currentTimeMillis();
      final private Map _entries = new HashMap();
      private ValueHelpCache() {}
      synchronized public Map getValueHelp(final String valuyeHelpKey) {
         Entry entry = (Entry)_entries.get(valuyeHelpKey);
         if ( entry == null) {
           entry = new Entry( loadValueHelpFromDatabase(valuyeHelpKey) );
           _entries.put(valuyeHelpKey, entry);
         } else {
           final long now = System.currentTimeMillis();
           if ( now - entry.lastLoadTime > ENTRY_TTL ) {
             entry.payload = loadValueHelpFromDatabase(valuyeHelpKey);
             entry.lastLoadTime = now;
        return entry.payload;
      private Map loadValueHelpFromDatabase(final String valuyeHelpKey) {
        /* @TODO implement loading values from database */
        return null;
      public static ValueHelpCache getInstance() { return INSTANCE; }
      final public static long ENTRY_TTL = 12 * 60 * 60 * 1000;
      final private static ValueHelpCache INSTANCE = new ValueHelpCache();
    This way client code tracks itself what entries are stale and need to be reloaded. No threads at all and no problems in cluster. You may alter time tracking mechanism to reload at given time of day, say at 12AM and 12PM -- just use java.util.Calendar and change code accordingly.

  • Moving from Web Dynpro Java timesheet to Web Dynpro ABAP timesheet

    Hi
    We are in the process of moving from Web Dynpro Java ESS timesheet to Web Dynpro ABAP ESS timesheet.  When using Web Dynpro Java ESS timesheet it is possible to enter time using a daily or weekly view.
    When using the Web Dynpro version and ensuring the period type is set to weekly view for the data entry profile it is only possible to enter time on the weekly view, the tab for the daily view is no longer available.
    Still using the Web Dynpro version and changing the period type to daily view I can enter time using the daily view and the weekly tab also becomes available, but the weekly tab is read only.
    Do you know if it is possible to make daily and weekly timesheet entry for one data entry profile.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Yes you can have only one view ie weekly or daily as per your CATS profile in CAC1.
    but of course you can select multiple profiles
    Configuration
    The application configuration HRESS_AC_CATS_1 is provided by default and allows you to provide default values for the application parameters. It also allows you to specify the layout and appearance of the application.
    The following application parameters are provided:
    HIDE_CLOCK_TIMES_IN_WEEKLY
    Hides the clock times in the weekly view.
    MULTIPLE_PROFILE
    Enables the selection of multiple data entry profiles from the dropdown list
