GPU acceleration in Lightroom 6 not working

Hi,
Any ideas how do I turn on GPU acceleration in Lightroom 6?
I meet the minimum requirements (Win 7 x64, 1GB VRAM, OpenGL 6.1 ) and as advised in "learn more" I did check my graphic driver which is at the latest version.
Still I am getting message: "GPU acceleration was disabled due to errors"
Any help apprecited
thank you

You can also install an "old" version from april 2014 (V 14.4) which works with Lr6 after having un-installed your actual actual drivers.
You can find it here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous?os=Windows%207%20-%2064
Be aware that with this driver you could activate the GPU Acceleration but it's possible that you didn't obtain any benefit...bug or not nobody knows...

As you can see, I havn't seen much details about the actual use case of OpenGL/OpenCL acceleration in Lightroom. I assume now Adobe name Lightroom "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom" now, does that mean Lightroom is using the same kind of engine? I would think the new photo merge function would be a good candidate for GPU acceleration given some use case like panorama or large pixel image rotation could be quite heavy duty. Does anyone know where to find these under the hood details?
Having this said, I wonder what is the official graphics card vendor Adobe would recommend? Perhaps nVidia?

  • GPU Acceleration for Lightroom

When will Lightroom have GPU acceleration like Photoshop CS4 has?

From what I've read GPU acceleration in CS4 currently only applies to canvas zooming and rotation... not EVERYTHING is accelerated by the GPU. So what effect (if any) would GPU acceleration for have for those items in LR? (honest question... I don't know.)
I've also read Adobe is planning on more features later on in CS to use GPU. So to me this appears currently as a first stage deployment of this technology... not TOO exciting in terms of actual benefit today, but with promising prospects in the future.
As for LR, I assume it all depends on what features would benefit from this (some would actually slow down if routed through GPU, if I understand some the writeup about this.)

  • Lightroom not working with new iMac

I just got a new iMac and I imported everything from my old computer using time machine but now lightroom does not work at all. Does anybody know what has gone wrong? All that comes up when I open the program is a grey screen and it does not respond with anything I click, including selecting a catalog.

You need to actually install LR, not let Time Machine transfer it.
If you purchased the regular (non-CC) version of LR, then download the LR 5.3 update from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html
If you have a PS+LR subscription, then click on the Lr icon after logging in at http://creative.adobe.com/products/  If CC thinks you have LR already installed, then you may need to install the www.adobe.com version, uninstall it, log out of CC, reboot, log back into CC, and then try downloading Lr from CC, again.

  • Lightroom not working-Please help!

I finished the 30 day trial for lightroom, and then I tried to pay for the monthly subscription, and the payment went through and I got the confirmation email, but it still only says "Trial Expired", so it's still not working!! Please help!

You are still trying to use the trial version that you downloaded. It is the standalone version, and has to be licensed differently. It will be necessary for you to uninstall that version of Lightroom, and then install Photoshop and Lightroom from the creative cloud application manager. After you install Lightroom properly, it will open just as it did before the trial expired, except that you won't get that opening trial screen anymore. All of your work will be intact. And you will be able to start right where you left off. The Lightroom program from the creative cloud application manager is precisely the same Lightroom program. The difference is in the licensing. The creative cloud realize on your Adobe ID and password whereas the standalone version relies on a serial number.

  • Feature Suggestion // CUDA GPU Acceleration for Lightroom 4

GPU CUDA Acceleration for rendering image previews, exporting images, and playing video in Lightroom 4,
I'd like to see Lightroom 4 make use of  GPU processing.  Similar to the Mercury Playback engine in Premiere Pro CS5.5
GPU acceleration should be available for ALL CUDA enabled GPU's.
I absolutely love GPU acceleration & Mercury Playback engine in Adobe Premiere Pro.  It really helps to speed up real-time previewing of high resolutuon footage.
I am sure that GPU acceleration will speed up any professionals workflow.

  • Why is the download link for the upgrade of Lightroom not working?

Am I the only one, for who the download link https://creative.adobe.com/de/products/de/download/lightroom?promoid=KSKAY ist not working? I just get the error site not found...

The 5.7 version. I found a different link, which was working, but I wasn't aware that's not just an upgrade but a completely new version you have to pay for again.
So I think I will stick to my version. But thanks for your answer anyway.

  • Does the new gpu acceleration in illustrator not support the GTX 750ti?

We have a brand new computer with a Nvidia GTX 750ti in it but we can't get Illustrator to recognize it for GPU acceleration.

    Nvidia GTX 750ti is supported.
Illustrator currently support single GPU card with upto 2 displays connected. Could you please check if you are using more than two displays or more than one GPU driver/card?

  • Any GPU acceleration in Lightroom 4?

    Hi there-
I know this has been bandied about as a feature request, was just curious if there was ever any implementation. Im off to buy a new video card today, and didnt want to buy Radeon if the only LR GPU acceleration was CUDA (or vice versa).
Any general advice on which video card (if it matters at all for LR) to buy would also be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    No.

  • Hope someone can help - Lightroom not working...at all...nothing....

I have tried installing about 20 or so times now and still cant get any thing at all when i launch the application - its likek it freezes. Something somewhere is missing or corrupt in my mac or the dowmload i downloaded and here's really hoping someone can help.
I have been using the beta since beta 1. This morning i downloaded the V1.0 and went through the usual steps on a mac. Launched the programme and got the option screen of entering a code or trying for free for 30 days.
Chose the free trial as my serial code had not yet been sent.
The application seemed to start and then said it was going to upgrade/update (or similar) my old library and this may take a few minutes. Fine - I've got all day - no worries.
5 hours later and not a whole lot appears to have happened other than Lightroom being frozen and I cant do much. Force quit ensues and an attempt to relaunch the application.
It launches and I getthe start up Window that lists all teh people who made it...but my cursor just goes into spinning ball mode an dnothing happens. This has now gone on about 20 or so times. I have tried removing the Lightroom with Appzapper and then re-installing the original beta followed by the new download....still nothing but a frozen lightroom
Anyone got any ideas - it must be something to do with my mac as everyone else seems to be using lightroom ok... and i'm desperate...seeing as i've been using it since beta 1
    hope someone can help??

Another thing to check is the permission settings on the Lightroom application and on the folder where your library lives (or will live, if you're making a new one.)
The Lightroom application needs to have an owner who has read/write permission on the library folder's location. Normally this owner will either be your own user ID or the "system" ID -- check by doing a command-i and seeing what shows up under the 'Details' section of the 'Ownership and Permissions' section.
I was having exactly the same problem you described until I checked and discovered that for some reason, Adobe's Installer had installed Lightroom with a strange owner ID that only had read permission on my library folder's location. Since Lightroom needs to be able to both read and write to the library when it starts up, it was launching and then just sitting there doing nothing.
I changed Lightroom's owner to 'system,' then made sure that the 'admin' group (of which 'system' is a member) had read/write permission on my library folder's location. After that, Lightroom launched fine.

  • Lightroom not working on Macbook Pro (2014)

I've just bought a new Macbook Pro, 2.8 Ghz i7, and I've installed Lightroom 5.6 via the Creative Cloud. Everytime I open the software, after the splash screen, all I've got is a grey window (where the actual software should be displayed). Also, I've noticed the top menu is reduced to only "File, Edit, Window and Help".
I've tried uninstalling and installing a few times, and the problem persists.
    Here's what happens:
I've also tried downloading Lightroom 4, that actually works (but since my previous laptop already had the Lightroom 5, I've lost a lot of presets, so, I don't consider a downgrade an option).
Any clue on how to work around this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi Kevin,
Can you please provide screen shots or a screen recording of the issue your experiencing? Capturing the Timeline panel, Program monitor and Effects panel would be helpful.
This will allow us to see exactly what your setup it and hopefully allow us to reproduce the issue.

  • Multi processing / GPU Adobe Premiere Pro not working fast

Hi I've got a Six core CPU and i'm wonderring why when i do my render it don't use all the power I've.  The maximum is about 30% of the possibility, sometime it's higher like 80% but why it's not alway 100% because I can't use my computer during this time, so the fastest would be the best... ?
I think it's because I've got After effect composition in my timeline but why it's slow ?
It's the same for stabilization effect also (which seems to be mono thread).
And I'm also vey supprised the GPU almost never help... I've got a GTX 680 and I never see the usage go above 15% ....           And you still have to do lot of render, because with many effect it's not realtime (False advertising from NVIDIA/ADOBE grrr)
What is the problem/ solution ?
    Thanks

Hi thanks for your answer Harm Millard.
It's for render previews, source material is DSLR H.264. It's a 3930K O/C 32GB of Ram SSD for OS and SSD for media.
After posting it seems to be my max is 30% when it's an After Effect Comp, and after it depends on the effect sometimes it's 80% sometimes 100%.... Weird.
Another question, Is there a way to do background rendering like FCPX because for play I don't use all the power, but I would prefer my computer do something when I just cut ... ? Because if i change a little setting I have to render for 10 min, and can't continue to edit... It's just not efficient...
I know about the color signification, but I mean you apply just few effect and it's red, and you need to render... :-(
I hope the next version will be outrageously fast, because I just have the feeling It's not optimized for big workstation. I don't know how the workstation with 16 cores use all this power in editing software..
    Thanks for your time.

  • Bridge1[+2]  / Lightroom not working together bug

Why is it that these two programmes seem so incompatible?
Many of the [non-customisable] shortcuts are different, F2 is rename in one, yet is batch rename in the other for one particularly pointless difference. LR is choosing to break with convention elsewhere. But for no good reason that I can see and I've looked! There are many more.
A much bigger problem though is that if I update an Image in Bridge it updates the sidecar file that goes with the Raw file, so in theory LR should see the differences.
If you look at this screen shot, you'll see that is not the case.
    http://farm1.static.flickr.com/168/435164417_1d27ffbe22_o.jpg
Pics are focus test images and the pic in Bridge have been darkened, desaturated or colour boosted, just for illustration of this bug. And as you can see nothing has changed in LR, not even after visiting another folder in LR or restarting LR.
BTW I have updated to ACR3.7 and Bride2 Beta shows the changes done in B1 no problem. Reimporting the images has no effect as they are already in library. Rendering previews again also has no effect.
Though if I delete a file and then reimport it, the changes are implemented. So yet another clunky workaround. But if I make a change in LR nothing happens in Bridge2 Beta, not even if I refresh. And when I restarted Bridge2 to see if that happened I get no thumbnails at all in the folder, just icons ?!? Another restart of Bridge and images appear, but still no change to reflect LR alterations. :-( Changes written into XMP box is ticked BTW.
Not only that, Bridge allows you to rename Jpegs and Raw Files together [hooray for common sense, though serious boos for always incrementing file no. sequencing], but if you try and move JPEGs and RAWs to separate folders to get around LR's [bizarre] refusal to recognize file extensions, you find you cannot. The reason - they are now paired and they move together in Bridge. Which would not be an issue bar LR's extension bug. So because of LR I now have to leave Bridge and move the files using a different file manger, duh!
I'm curious, were the Bridge team and LR team not allowed to communicate or were LR engineers simply instructed to do everything in a different manner even if the tasks were identical in each programme? As the conflicts between the two are simply baffling. The only other explanation I can think of at present, is that it is foolishly assumed that no-one will use them both.
It's only a few days until LR's price goes up and I only have 2 days trial left, I'm still not convinced it's a sensible investment as Bridge is so much quicker to use at present, for far too many unnecessary reasons. Syncing and processing a large no. of images is very quick + easy in ACR anyway and as no-one at Adobe seems to have commented on the various complaints here regarding LR, I may well be sticking with Bridge. At least the engineers there respond and give feedback on the forums. If I knew a LR 1.1 was imminent I may invest my cash, but sadly it's not looking promising at the moment.
LR has great potential, but seems very broken at present in silly little ways and if the next iteration is not for another year.....it's sadly not worth paying for at present. And if a bug fix is announced after the price rise, I can't see me being tempted to spend the $400 it'll cost here in the UK.

    > A much bigger problem though is that if I update an Image in Bridge it updates the sidecar file that goes with the Raw file, so in theory LR should see the differences.
If you look at this screen shot, you'll see that is not the case.
You have to import the xmp data in LR to get it to recognize the changes. Metadata-xmp

  • Lightroom not working

I've loaded 5.3 to my pc (win7 X64) and I can't even drag a windows sample jpg to the preview window to import it.
I've browsed other peoples problems with this and all the suggestions haven't made a difference.
None of the picture I have, all 20K plus of them, includding jpgs, NEFs and RW2 work.
    ANy ideas greatly appreciated.

    Thanks ssprengel
I was trying it in the Library as the guide says. Using Sample Pictures it has added that folder to the tree but there are still no pictures visible although the preview pane did flicker.

  • When I chose the GPU Acceleration on my general settings I only get audio and not video play back

It has been extremely frustrating for me because my computer can render files fast just couldn't read the graphics card I had so I had to unlock it. I am hoping someone on here has done something similar to help me get this to work because the only thing that I am having trouble with as far as when it is on software only is on play back. I kept dropping several frames and it was really frustrating me. I think I may have found why I am having this problem and hope someone on here can help me out.
    15. Now just add the name of the card between the “Renderer string:” and the forward slash “/” to the cuda_supported_cards.txt file.
This was on of the steps that I did not understand and could be the reason why it is not working properly because I did not know how to do this.
Like I said it is letting me switch to the GPU Acceleration mode just not letting me see any video on anything in cs6.
This is the link to where I learned how to get premiere cs6 to read my graphics card http://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/PremiereCS5-2.htm
I have a GeForce GT 525M graphics card and according to that site I can get premiere to read my graphics card to help me playback without dropping frames.
I also installed the latest driver so that can not be the issue as of now. If you know the answer please help this is very frustrating.
    Thanks!
