Grab Search Help "OK" button as an Action

Hi All,
I have an input field with a search help, user is selecting the search help and selecting the value and the value is displaying in the input field. (so far so good, everything is working fine)
Question:
I want to select the value and once the value is in the input field at the same time I want to run an action event with out the need of clicking enter.
right now the value is in the input field but the user is required to click enter inside the input field to run validation. (I have the validation as input field Action)
my requirement is to have the validation once the user click OK in the search help window.
1 - I don't want to use OVS for search help.
2 - All the search help results are valid but I need to run validation in the input field in order to display additional data in another input field.
PS. Both input fields are bounded to different context node.

Hi Pradeep,
I think, if you read the weblog, that I suggest that although perhaps what I'm demonstrating is possible, it is perhaps not best practice, and that it would be nicer for SAP to allow a simpler solution. That said, sometimes you just want to use the standard SAP value helps, with all their nice features and not develop a new OVS each time you want your users to make a selection. The code is reusable in that once developed it is reasonably simple to redeploy to another application. But I take your point, it is not simple! But, it is an easy way to get access to functionality that has already been developed and well tested rather than having to rebuild it. When considering many many different value helps it could save time.
But feel free to use OVS if you find that easier to build and support. I prefer the standard search help. Perhaps it is just the way that I've coded OVS in the past, but I don't think it supports the user personal value list and I haven't been able to get it to open the value list with a default populated list whilst still allowing the user to filter the list.

I have the similar kind of requirement. Upon click on a Button on screen i need to call a search help, and collect one or more selected material numbers.
The search help is working fine and i am getting the entries with the following code.

Logical Database - PNPCE - Hide 'Org Structure' 'Search Help' etc buttons

Hi,
We have created a report by making a z copy of RCATS_APPROVE_ACTIVITIES. In the Z version we need to hide the buttons on the titlebar of the selection screen.
Buttons are
- Org Structure
- Search Help
- Dynamic Selection
- Selection Fields.
Can you please suggest if I can do something from the code ?

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. However, there is no title bar method that we can modify to remove the buttons. I have created a Z report Category by copying the existing one and made the modifications.
In that we can hide/display UI elements which are displayed by Logical Database.

Hi there... I need a little help with buttons and their actions using flex builder 4.5

I run a repo company and have zero experience in the developing applications and I could use some help from anybody that is willing to give it.... Here is a basic idea of what I need... let's say there are 3 states... state 1 has a question that says "car you read this?" and a "yes" and a "no" button... when you select either answer, you go to slide 2. Slide 2 with have a question like "Is the sky brown?" and a "yes" and a "no" button and when either button is selected, you are taken to Slide 3. Slide 3 needs to be some sort of a text form that is created by the user selecting the buttons and the screen would say something like "yes, i can read this. no, the sky is not brown", or "no, I can't read this. yes, the sky is brown" . I know how to get the buttons to take the user to the correct new slide, but I do not know how to get the buttons to insert specific text somewhere else when any button is selected.... Can anybody help me? Youtube is only getting me so far, and my kids are driving me nuts while I'm trying to figure this monster out... I've gotten several slides created and some screens have several buttons, I just need to see what I need to put in the code to get it to do this type of function

Also where can I read up on setting my .Xdefaults and xmonad.hs file? I ripped someones from this forum, and it works nice, but I want to make my onw, but cant find any decent documentation. Thanks.
At the moment, the best source for configs are those posted in the screenshots thread (for both Xdefaults and xmonad.hs), the xmonad config archive (and the available docs from the root page on that site), and our own thread. Unfortunately you'll have to sort of scrounge for good docs on the xmonad.hs at the moment, since most of the information was written for the 0.4 version of xmonad. The configuration has since been made MUCH simpler.

Custom search help tab for "Material" in ME21N...

Experts,
I have a requirement to create a separate tab in the standard collective search help that is triggered in F4 at the Material field in PO items for ME21N to add an additional search criterion for Materials by Material Group, there by reducing the number of material groups displayed.
Ex: ME21N -> F4 on Material -> Just like the tab "Material by Mat Group" on the collective search help, there has to be an extra tab for "Materials by non-taxable Material Groups".
Please advice on how I go about it. Using Exits/BADIs?

GO TO SE11. Under Search help radio button enter the standard search help name MAT1.
From menu clicke on "Append Search Help (F5)" and enter a name ZAMAT1 (Match Code by Material and Material Group)
Enter field names as follows:

Issue in elementary search help.

Hi,
Facing some issue on Attaching search help directly to the screen Fields.
I have a requirement that
1> Based on a screen field, I have to filter F4 for the other fields.
2> I have to populate 2 screen elements at the same time.
Like:
In my transaction i have 3 fields :
1> PA0001-WERKS : Personnel area.
2> PA0001-PERNR : Personnel number
3> PA0001-ENAME : Employee name.
All 3 have been defined as Dictionary fields on the screen.
Now PA0001-WERKS has its on search help and i use that to select the WERKS.
Then i have to create a search help that takes this as the input and gives me a hit list showing all the personnel number ( and there name) in PA0001 table based on the screen field PA0001-werks.
When i do F4 on say Pa0001-pernr field: a hit list showing all the personnel number ( and there name) in PA0001 table.
When i select a row both PA0001-pernr and PA0001-ENAME should be filled in the screen.
Solution that i tried:
I created a elementary seach help ZSEL_PER and had the PA0001 as the selection table and had the 3 fields as the parameters:
1> WERKS as input
2> PERNR and ENAME as output.
Then i attached the search help to the srceen fields :
1> PA0001-PERNR : Personnel number
2> PA0001-ENAME : Employee name.
Now ,
a> When i do F4 my data does not get restricted as per the WERKS on the screen.
b> When i select a row both the fields on the screen dont get populated, only the field on which i did F4 ( that too always with the colomn 1 only of the hit list )..
Is this possible with elementary search help and if yes then how ? what am i doing wrong...

This is the Search Help Process(F4) for a Particular Field.
Go to SE11.
Select Search Help Radio button : Any name with Z or Y.
Create.
Short Description : Any.
Selection Method : Table Name.
Dialog Type : Display Values immediately.
Search Help Parameter : Field Name (for which field ur doing in the table).
Exp : Tick it.
Lpos : 1 Just giving the position.
SAVE CHECK ACTIVATE.
Next Assign the Search Help to the table or field.
SE11.
Your Table Name : Change.
Search Help Button above the fields.
Search Help name : Your search help name.
Copy.
SAVE CHECK ACTIVATE.
Now go and check to the field by F4.
Thats it.

Search Help(F4....) for a FIELD in table

In SE11 I created a SEARCH HELP.
And I assigned it to a field in a table.
GOTO>Search help->for field.Here i assigned that created search help name and COPY.
**But it is not reflecting in screens.
Any one suggest me what to do or any thing else i need to take care.

Dynamic Search Helps In An Input Field

Hi Experts,
          I need to populate an input field with different search helps based on the user action i.e when user selects "Audit" i hav to show the audit search help for my input field, when he selects "Audit Plan" i would hav to show audit plan search help.
My Questions >
1> i intend to use the method set_attribute_value_help of the interface if_wd_context_info and do the coding as :-
data lo_nd_info type if_wd_context_node_info.
lo_nd_info = lo_nd->get_node_info( ).
CALL METHOD lo_nd_info->set_attribute_value_help

          name            = 'identification' (attribute Name)

Is this the correct way to go if not plz suggest a more appropriate method.

Search Help on Table Control - Fill more than one field in the table?

Hey everyone,
I have built a screen with a Table Control on it... the fields of the table control are linked to an internal table... The internal table has the line type of a structure I've defined in the data dictionary. Within that structure in the data dictionary, I've linked some fields to search helps (For example, a MATNR and CUSTOMER search help)... I've defined in the structure definition which fields from the search help are to be returned to which fields in the structure.
The problem is, even though I have the search help set to export both the customer number and location when using the search help on the customer field, it still does not fill the location field within the table. Is this a limitation of using search helps within table controls?
I'm also finding that by defining the search help through the structure, instead of directly within the screen, the search help round button does not show up on the field, yet I can still press F4 to bring up the search help. Is there a reason why it's not showing the search help clickable button even though it works fine using F4?
For doing search helps in Table Controls, is it better to just build the search help, attach it directly to the field in the table, and then after the user picks the single field, use the PAI to run a select and fill the rest of the fields required?

What i understood is that you added a search help by defining it in the internal table type for a field customer number..in the search help you have 2 fields customer number and location...user press the search help ..then you need to fill 2 different fields or 1 field?
if you need to fill the customer location or location (only one) then you need to set the "import" in the search help for whichever is required.....
if you need to fill 2 or more different fields..then you can use the technique you have mentioned last , to do a select in PAI and fill the fields....but this you can use if the combination for the fields is unique...eg: u have customer number and location..if customer X can be mapped to location X and location Y..when a select statement is done there are 2 options..so in such cases it is better to leave the option to the user otherwise if there is a clear mapping like customer X can be mapped only to location X then you can use the select..

usually when you define it as a type in the internal table the icon doesn't show up..but you can do alternative like mentioned..go to the table,find the search help for the required field if present or create a new one if required and place the search help mentioned in the screen itself..so as to see the icon...sometimes users are adamant that they need the search help icon to be seen..so it depends on if your user

as in the example of customer number and location mentioned we can provide them different search helps and do the needful processing in PAI to fill the fields
Table controls may be used for different purposes and requirements....even a checkbox,push button can be placed as a field in table control and used,but yes most of the time requirements are like what is mentioned in your case...

Find collective Search Help for partner function at runtime

Hi experts,
I have a screen very similar to VF05. When I enter the partner function, the corresponding field for the partner function, I want a collective search help to open.
If I enter the partner function - Employee responsible, then the search help PERM has to be called or for partner function Payer, I want the search help DEBI to be called. Can anyone let me know how can I get the related partner functions, without hardcoding for every partner function. Something similar to the VF05 report.

Adding Search help to a field of standard transction

hi experts,
i m new to abap.
my pp consultant wants that in transaction MM03, for the field on selection screen (Material) one more search help should be added. and on pressing f4 it should be displayed there with other search options.
The search field is "(Document)-Number of the drawing that exists for this object".
Note: To see this field run transaction MM03, enter a material and press enter then we get a screen to choose a view. choose basic data2. In the block "design drawing" there is a field for "Document".
is it possible? if yes how much time it would take and to do it.
how should i go about it.

Name of a search help
A search help is an object of the ABAP Dictionary with which input helps
(F4 helps) can be defined.
There are the following types of search helps:
o Elementary search helps implement a search path for determining the
possible entries.
o Collective search helps contain several elementary search helps. A
collective search help therefore provides several alternative search
paths for possible entries.
o Append search helps can be used to enhance collective search helps
delivered by SAP with customer-specific search paths without
requiring a modification.
The three components of the input help process described by a search
help are the outer interface, the online behavior and the method of data
Go to Tcode SE11. Select the search help radio button.
Give name as ztest and click create

Search help for partner functions in the message to get organisation unit O

hello,
Depending on the Business partner category (Organisation, Person,Group) the search help of the partner function in a message should return the corresponding partner list.
This is working fine for standard partner functions like SLFN0002 (reported by=P) SLFN0003 (support team=O). When doing a searchhelp we get a list of organisation for the "support team" and a list of users for "reported by". this is a normal behaviour.
When copying the partner function SLFN0003 into a new ZLFN0003 and including it in the partner profile of the message the search help returns all business partners of category P but should return category O. The function category 0016 (service team) is well defined for ZLFN, I guess the link to business partner category is made indirectly there but I might be wrong.
Does anyone of you experience the same behaviour ? Any idea how to correct this ?

Doubt on creating Search help.

I have created a table . I am using the SAPGUI version 4.6. In that i am not having a tab called Search Help as we used to have in Higher version.I have created a Search help using the Search help radio button in SE11 start screen.
I am not able to assign the search help created to the respective field in the table.
is there any ways how to assign the search help we have created to the respective field.
please help me in solving this issue.

If you have created search help then it's very easy to assign that Search help to database table field.
Go To sell.
Enter your table name,
Click on Change,
Select the field for which you want to assign search help,
Then Click on Search Help Button.
Enter you search help name and its done....
