Grand Total of weighted average in OBISE10g
Hi,
I need a basic help in OBISE1(10.1.3.2.1)10g aggregation.
I have a report which shows 5 cols col1,col2,col3 (as an amount section) col4,col5 (as % column). col 4 and col 5 are derived by using some cacluation based on col1 and col2..
upto here no issues and all columns are getting populated properly...
i have a Total column at the bottom of the report where the columns get added up.. Now sum(col1),sum(col2),sum(col3) is being displayed which is correct and as expected.. but for total% of col4 and col5 what I expected value is to recalculate their formula using the values available in total aggregation column for col1 and col2.. but I am unable to do it..
values are not as expected...also the number of columns are getting reduced after applying grand total to whole report.
please provide me a solution for the same......

In OBIEE Report Grand Total instead of Average(Average) use Sum(Avg)?
Hi All,
In OBIEE Report Grand Total average always shows Average of average (Default) "avg(avg)" , can i overwrite this functionality to sum of average "sum(avg)".
Thanks in advance
Regards
KandasamyHello,
You can try the following:
Remove the calculate result as setting for the three KFs.
In exception aggregation set property to average with ref char as leave start date.
Check if it works.
If the above dosent work, set reference char to emplyee ID and check.
Either one of them has to work

Grand Total Issue - Weighted Sum
Here's the Issue
3 Columns
Hours Worked, Pay Amount, and Pay Rate
20 10 $.50
Pay Rate is a calculated column from "Hours Worked" and "Pay Amount"
I'm trying to add the grand total to my work sheet for "Pay Rate"
Discoverer simply adds all of the "Pay Rate" values.
I would like the Pay Rate grand total to be "Pay Amount Grand Total" / "Hours Worked Grand Total"
Is this even possible? If you're using 10g, take a look at your aggregation options (tools/aggregation). Since Pay Rate is a calculated column, there should be an option that forces it to do a calculation on the totals (rather than a total of the calculation). If you're on an older version, you may need to look into the aggregation-related registry settings/preferences. Also make sure you're doing a sum (not a cell sum).
That behavior seems to change from version to version but if you search on MetaLink you should find some version-specific help. -
Creating Weighted Average Sub-Totals in Standard Apex Report
Based upon the below query, I am trying to have a Standard SQL report produce Weighted Average sub totals for 4 columns
SELECT Pool

, Pool_order
, Perf_Non_Perf
, CurrBal
, LowVal
, HighVal
, LossHigh
, LossLow

, DECODE(CalcCurrBal,0,0,(LossHigh/CalcCurrBal * 100)) AS LossHighPercent
, DECODE(CalcCurrBal,0,0,(LossLow/CalcCurrBal * 100)) AS LossLowPercent
From (
SELECT Pool
, 1 as order_by
, Pool Pool_order
, Perf_Non_Perf
, Sum(Current_Balance) AS CurrBal
, Sum(Low_Value) AS LowVal
, Sum(High_Value) AS HighVal
, Sum(Calculated_Cumm_Loss_High) AS LossHigh
, Sum(Calculated_Cumm_Loss_Low) AS LossLow
, Sum(Current_Balance_to_Calc_Cumm_L) AS CalcCurrBal
FROM Current_Data
GROUP BY Pool, Perf_Non_Perf
ORDER BY Pool, Perf_Non_Perf DESCThe columns in question are:

Any ideas other than using a union to add the sub-totals in as a separate query (trying to keep this confined to one query if possible)..
Thank you,
Tony Miller
Dallas, TXTony,
The PL/SQL forum may answer this better but had you considered the ROLLUP or CUBE GROUP BY functions? ROLLUP would look like this in your query:
SELECT pool,
order_by,
pool_order,
perf_non_perf,
currbal,
lowval,
highval,
losshigh,
losslow,
calccurrbal,
SUM (DECODE (currbal, 0, 0, (lowval / currbal * 100))) AS lowpercent,
SUM (DECODE (currbal, 0, 0, (highval / currbal * 100))) AS highpercent,
SUM (DECODE (calccurrbal, 0, 0, (losshigh / calccurrbal * 100)))
AS losshighpercent,
SUM (DECODE (calccurrbal, 0, 0, (losslow / calccurrbal * 100)))
AS losslowpercent
FROM ( SELECT pool,
1 AS order_by,
pool pool_order,
perf_non_perf,
SUM (current_balance) AS currbal,
SUM (low_value) AS lowval,
SUM (high_value) AS highval,
SUM (calculated_cumm_loss_high) AS losshigh,
SUM (calculated_cumm_loss_low) AS losslow,
SUM (current_balance_to_calc_cumm_l) AS calccurrbal
FROM current_data
GROUP BY pool, perf_non_perf)
GROUP BY rollup (pool,
order_by,
pool_order,
perf_non_perf,
currbal,
lowval,
highval,
losshigh,
losslow,
calccurrbal)
ORDER BY pool, perf_non_perf DESCJeff -

Try TOTAL with line item infoobject as ref char but not plant.
Try with constant selection on your KF to display 342. -
ALV Report - Average and Grand total.
Hi,
Could you tell me in ALV, how i can calculate the average of a particular field and display it in the grand total row?
What is the property to display the grand total alone, without the subtotal? To force a grand total line, first you need to have a field in your internal table that can be totaled, when defining that field in your field catalog, you must set the flag for DO_SUM = 'X', you may also need to set the DATATYPE = 'QUAN'. Then the grand total line will show automatically.

Average of the Grand Total in the Pivot Table
all,
I have calculated a Grand Total of sum 3 days trade in the pivot table using the Totals after in the Pivot table. I wanted to obtain the average of this Grand total. How can i achecive this in OBIEE 10g.? Please help urgentI did not understand your scenario exactly. Did you try using the 'newly calculated column' option from 'More options' of the particular column for which you want the average?.
for example
segment brand 1 value
brand 2 value
brand 3 value
brand 4 value
Avg brand per segment <value>
notice that the 'Avg brand per segment' is a 'newly calculated item' where the average brand has been calculated. hope this helps. -
Alv subtotals and grand total for a field
Hi friends,
I Have an internal table ITAB1
in that i have a senario as below.
In my GRID display iam getting values in the layou as follows
BUKRS = 1000
LIFNR MATNR STCST
100 abc 500,00
100 pqr 400,00
100 xyz 200,00
sub total
200 pto 700,00
200 vbr 900,00
sub total
BUKRS = 2000
LIFNR MATNR STCST
150 abc 500,00
150 pqr 400,00
150 xyz 200,00
sub total
260 pto 700,00
260 vbr 900,00
sub total
GRAND TOTAL =
Now my requirement is at the end of every vendor i need sub total for STCST field.
and at the end of every company code i need GRAND TOTAL for STCST field.
Its alv grid display.
how can i do that.

How to get the Grand Total in Module pool Screen
Hi Frds.
How to get the Grand Total in Module pool Screen
Example i have 10 different materials
for each matarial has different moving . But in my case matarials is doesnt matter here
10 material Moving Average price to do Frand total and display in one column...
Please Help me out Frds.
Regards,
KabilHi
You need to calculate the total in a module of PAI (or PBO) event:
PROCESS PAI.
LOOP.....
ENDLOOP.
MODULE CALCULATE_TOTAL.
MODULE CALCULATE_TOTAL.
GRAND_TOTAL = 0.
LOOP AT ITAB,
GRAND_TOTAL = GRAND_TOTAL + ITAB-PWB.
ENDLOOP.
ENDMODULE.
In this way the grand total will be calculated as soon as the user presses enter or another command.
You can't insert the calculation in the loop of table control, because this loop runs the visible lines only, so it's better to calculate the total out of those loop, -
% of calculation in GRAND TOTAL in PIVOT TABLE
Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement to calculate the percentage based on the grand total in pivot table, but in row wise i am getting the percentage while in grand total level i am not getting correct values.I have tried with all the options like:average,Sum,Default,Max,Min,count etc and also with the percent of row, column, parent column etc.
Please give me a solution for this ASAP.
view of my table is
Previous Value||Present Value||change between Pres & Prev||% of change(((pres - prev)/pres)*100)
10||20||10||50%
00||01||01||100%
10||05||-05||-50%
here i should get values in grand total like
20||26||06||23%
but i am getting values when giving sum for %of calc in measures values
20||26||06||100%
if i give avg for %of calc in measures values then i am geting
20||26||06||33%
how to solve this prob. Can any one give sol plzzzzzzzz

Weighted Average in Pivot View
Hi,
Can you please throw some light on the below scenario based on weighted average:
For Ex:
Cloumn1---Column2-----Column3
R1-----------Line Item1--10
R1-----------Line Item2--20
R2-----------Line Item3--30
R2-----------Line Item4--40
Now i am trying to achieve weighted average based on the group by of Column1.
10+20=30==>30/2=15
30+40=70==>70/2=35
Before raising this thread, i had a look at the below URL:
http://siebel.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/siebel-analytics-l/weighted-average-for-fact-column-values-1242947
Can you please let me know how we can achieve this in the pivot view(OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1).
Your help is highly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
SivaHi,
Try-
AVG(measure_col by column1)
And try making in the column formula -Aggregation Rule (Totals Row)-->Average
And also try making the aggregation rule in the pivot table of the column as-->Average
Hope this helped/ answered.

Hide column result in pivot grand total row
Hello
Do you know if it is possible to hide the result of a particular column in a pivot grand total row?
I have several columns to which makes sense use a grand total row (as in a sum) but for others (such as average) it does not make sense in the light of the client business rules.
Any help on this matter is highly appreciated :)
Thanks in advance,
J MarquesI have a measure that represents the average time according to the dimensions it uses - and that works properly.
However, the grand total for that column shows me the average of the average times above. This is not correct that is why I want to hide it.As said by kishore, In pivot go to that time average time column -> Aggregation rule -> None, This won't affect the column avg value.
The grant total value will not come.
By setting this, are you getting wrong values?
Thanks,
Vino -
Hi,
I have a Pivot table view which has three measures namely Net Units, Budget Net Units, Achvd% along with channel and Account at row level.
Here Achvd% is a calcualted column with Achvd% = (Net Units - Budget Net Units)/Budget Net Units.
At my Grand Total level also the same Formula should apply for Total Achvd% i.e., (Total Net Units - Total Budget Net Units)/Total Budget Net Units.
Currently it is displaying the Aggregation Level for this column as Sum.
In the Aggregation Level Setting for any column, we have Default, Sum, Average,Min, Max,... So can this customization for this column be done at Grand Total Level.
Can you please provide valuable inputs
Thanks
Sri
Edited by: sri on Feb 2, 2011 10:54 PMSaichand,
I tried as you suggested, it is working on a single request... But if we have a result set of two combined requests(union) then this option is not helpful.
Can you suggest how to take this up while using combined requests
Thanks,

I have say three columns in a report, Col A that aggregates by SUM, Col B that also aggregates by SUM and Col 3 that aggregates by Avg
Col A Col B Col C
Amount Qty Avg price
10 3 3.33
20 4 5
30 7 ? Grand Total (use of report total)
I want to see Sum (col A) / Sum Col B and average of Col C where I have ?, how can I do that?Hi,
If i got you correctly,
i think you can achieve this way.
Criteria:
Dim X, Dim Y, Col A , Col B , Col C
case i:
If Col A & Col B are Aggregated to SUM(in RPD),
then in the column formula of 'Col C',
Col A/Col B (Aggregation Rule - Default)
This gives you the SUM(Col A) / SUM(Col B) for the Grand total Row for 'Col C'
case ii:
If Col A & Col B are Not Aggregated to SUM(in RPD),
then in the column formula of 'Col C',
SUM(Col A BY Dim X, Dim Y)
SUM(Col B BY Dim X, Dim Y) (Aggregation Rule - Default)
This gives you the SUM(Col A BY all Dim X,Y values) / SUM(Col B BY all Dim X,Y values) for the Grand total Row for 'Col C'
Hope it helps you.

Weighted average calculation in query
Hello
i'm having some issues calculating an weighted average...
imagine the next scenario
LINE | FORMAT | TIME | WORKERS
10 | 000123 | 10 | 5
10 | 000123 | 350 | 2
10 | 000123 | 75 | 1
From this i need the wighted average of the nr workers considering the time they were working
so, to calculate that i have to do for example:
(time * worker)/total time
in numbers...
((105)+(3502)(75*1))/(10350+75)
=1,89 workers for that line, for that format and for all that time
I am able to do that formula inside bex analyser, however when the user drills down the report or sorts the key figures in other order the result is not correct.
any suggestions?
Best regardsHi Ricardo
What we did, in a similar case, we used two formulas. The first one was the calculation (time * worker) with exception aggregation (summation).
The second formula was the previous formula divided to time.
The trick is which characteristic to use for the aggregation in the first formula, i think you should have the most detailed one.
Then i believe the two formulas will calculate correctly the weighted average based on any selections/analysis that you do.

Yiannis
