Grant privilege disappeared after modify versioned table

After adding two columns to a version table using wm package, the previous grant privilege on the version table disappeared. Is it expected behavior or a bug?

This is a bug. We have since fixed it and it will be available in the next release. For now, the workaround is that you have to grant the privilege again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Updating a view after modifying a table...

    Hello,
    Here is the scenario.
    I have a a table in HANA with 50+ columns of data.  I have created both Attribute and Analytical views of that data.  These views have been activated and deployed.  Now I need to modify my table to add two new columns that I will want to included in my existing Attribute and Analytical views.  How can I accomplish this?  It seems that when I modify my table, the views in HANA studio do not have the ability to be updated.  It seems I have to re-create my voews from scratch to now include my two new columns.  Hopefully I am missing something simple.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Matt, no way you need to recreate your views after a DDL change on the underlying tables.
    When the table structure changes, you usually need to close any information view editors on the model in question and then reopen the model for editing after the change, but otherwise should be fine. I have done this many times.
    What revision are you working on? Can you give the exact sequence of steps?

  • Grant privileges  to new user + few tables

    Hi all. How can I give my new user all privileges for inserting deleting records in some tables...
    CREATE USER user1 IDENTIFIED BY user1

    May be it will be better to make nobody the owner of the tables?It's definitely a good idea to make somebody else the owner of the table rather than SYSTEM... you shouldn't really be putting your own objects in the SYSTEM schema anyway if you can help it.
    Whether NOBODY is the best schema to use depends on what you want the table for. If this is just a test system you are playing about with then it doesn't really matter... but if you are trying to put together a proper development/test system with a plan to move into a production environment then think through what you want (and whether NOBODY is the best name for your application schema).
    Saying that, if this is just a database you are 'playing' with to learn some Oracle then you might want to look at granting system privileges rather than object privileges.
    GRANT SELECT ANY TABLE TO ALEX;
    Will let ALEX select form any table (other than the data dictionary).
    Again, though, a word of caution - if you intend to put this into a 'real' system (rather than just one you are learning on) then think it through and only grant what you need. If you go for the 'easy' system privilege now you'll find you'll always be stuck with it because you'll never be 100% certain that you can revoke it without affecting your application.

  • In Designer, old application system disappears after New version and ORA-01562

    In Designer 2.1.2, after starting (RON 2.0.24.1.1) Application / New version,
    error ORA-01562 occurred (because I have a smaller rollback segment on line).
    Now I can't find in repository
    old version (1) of my application system,
    but new version (2) exists in repository.
    Unchecking the 'Show Current Versions Only' check box doesn't help.
    Even Designer API statement:
    'SELECT id, name, version
    FROM ci_application_systems'
    displays only new version (2).
    Means this that Designer:
    - first changes old version number to new version number and commits
    - and then copies new version to old?
    How to return old version number (without Designer API)?
    Thanks and regards

    Answer from Oracle
    (MetaLink Technical Forums):
    'When Designer versions it takes a snapshot of the first version
    and then changes the originals version number to 2.
    If designer run out of rollback segments while creating a new version
    it will not show the old version again.
    This is a bug (818860). It is in the resolution stage.'

  • ORA-00904 After modifying table

    I have a versioned table named cnstrnt. Due to the number of existing constraints, I was unable to unversion it, but had to add a column (note: bad idea #1). I ran the command "exec dbms_wm.beginddl('cnstrnt'); alter table cnstrnt_lts add (cnstrnt_num number(1) not null); " When I tried to commit, I received an error. Another error was received when rolling back. I then forced the commit using the ignore_last_error=>true (bad idea #2); I then decided that I had no choice but to unversion it (wish that I had come to this conclusion earlier); I received an error that it had a problem with the my new column. In my infinate wisdom, I tried to roll back the DB to a point in time before I started messing with the table. I did not go back far enough, and because it was open with "resetlogs", no longer have the datafiles. I was able to do a beginddl on the table, and removed the column. It commited without a problem. Now that I am trying to do a new ddl on the table (new constraint to an existing versioned table), I am receiving the ORA-00904 error stating that the cnstrnt_num column is an invalid qualifier. I see everywhere that I went wrong. Any help on getting me out of this mess?

    We support all of the conditions that you list. When you need to perform DDL on a table that contains a foreign key, you need to be sure to call beginDDL and commitDDL on the tables in the appropriate order, which is outlined in the user guide. Also note that workspaces are not created for a specific table. Once a workspace is created it can be used by any user that has the necessary privileges, and any table can be modified within it.
    I think the issue here is that ignore_last_error was set to true, and the statement that was ultimately skipped, was required for normal functionality. This parameter should only be used when it is safe to do so, and you know how to recover from skipping the statement.
    If you do end up filing a TAR, all of this can be addressed further using your specific case/example.

    Ben

  • ORACLE - How to GRANT privilegies on ALL the tables belonging to a schema

    Is there a way to grant to a user the same privilegies on ALL the tables belonging to the same schema, so that, in case a new table is created afterwards, the grant is automatically given ?
    Thanks in adance for any reply

    Yes of course ! Just do the same as Oracle Applications: an end user has no Oracle account, the application code connects with the Oracle account that is the schema owner:
    no more grant needed ... That's a joke but it's also true ! In this case, your application must implement its own security (password management, audit, privileges) and you will not be able to use Oracle privileges, auditing and advanced security features ... just like Oracle Applications.
    The above answers are of course correct. You can also create an Oracle role that you can grant to the Oracle users and grant the privileges to this role everytime a new table is created to avoid granting privileges for each new object to each user.

  • Error while granting privileges to new user

    hi all,
    I created new user and i tried to grant privileges to that new user by using ( SQL> CONNECT / AS sysdba;

    3 QUOTA UNLIMITED ON SYSAUX;

    What i can do. Any help.
    Otherwise is there any other method to grant privileges.
    Thanks in advance.

    What is your Oracle version ?
    Are you sure the object PL.PROJ_HISTORY exists ?
    What is the output of (using the Oracle account that executes the GRANT):
    select * from session_roles;
    select * from session_privs;

  • Object disappears after pressing enter key

    I need to attach the transaction J1B3N to keep the connection objects.
    Perform the steps as the help of SAP:
    Object links to other SAP objects
    You can make an object link to SAP objects that are not shown in the possible entries list. To do this, proceed as follows:
    In the standard system, there are already two special screens for the module pools SAPLCV130 and SAPLCV140 for the linked SAP object.
    You must create two new screens with the same number for the module pools SAPLCV130 and SAPLCV140 .
    The processing logic must follow that of screen 1204 in program SAPLVC130.
    Create function module OBJECT_CHECK_XXXX (XXXX = object name)
    If the object can be classified, this function module already exists .
    Otherwise copy the function module for linking equipment DOCUMENT_CHECK_EQUI and change it as required for the new object.
    After performing these steps can see the screen with the number of document tab Link Object, but I am having the following problem: I inform the document number field and press Enter this number some of the screen.
    Already remade several times but can not find the point I'm failing.
    Thank you,

    Hi Michely,
    could you please check if the necessary object is correctly mainatined in structure MCDOKOB too. Here the following coding part could be useful to analyse why the value disappears after hitting enter:
    Main Program     SAPLCVOB
    Source code of   LCVOBU02
    FUNCTION         KEY_ZU_OBJEKT
    SELECT SINGLE * FROM TCLO
           WHERE OBTAB EQ OBJEKT.
    IF SY-SUBRC NE 0.
      RAISE NO_OBJEKT.
    ENDIF.
    NAME = 'MCDOKOB'.
    IF NAME CP '*# '. ENDIF.
    WRITE '-' TO NAME+SY-FDPOS.
    IF NAME CP '*# '. ENDIF.
    IF NOT TCLO-KEYF0 IS INITIAL.
      WRITE TCLO-KEYF0 TO NAME+SY-FDPOS.
      ASSIGN TABLE FIELD (NAME) TO <KEYF1>.
      DESCRIBE FIELD <KEYF1> LENGTH LEN1  IN CHARACTER MODE.
      KEY1 = NAME.
    ENDIF.
    IF TCLO-KEYF0 EQ SPACE.
      KEY1 = ' '.
      LEN1 = 0.
    ENDIF.
    Here the keyfield is read from table TCLO and then the length is read from structure MCDOKOB for example. So it is necessary that the same data is maintained in table TCLO and structure MCDOKOB to grant the correct working for new individual objects.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • Problem with granting privileges

    We are creating a separate user for loading data into staging tables on our db and are having problems granting privileges. The original user is securities_developer and the new user is securities_loader. As securities_developer, I execute the following command:
    grant delete,update,insert,select on securities_work to securities_loader;
    The output indicates success, but when I switch to that user and perform 'select * from securities_work', the table isn't found. Using Oracle Enterprise Manager, I look up the table and it indicates that the above privileges have been granted. Am I missing something?

    Hi,
    Do you have a (public) synonym on your table securities_work ?
    Or, try to add the schema owner in your query like: 'select * from securities_developer.securities_work'

  • Grant Privileges to another user

    Hi,
    I am new to plsql. In course of my learning. I created two tables BOOKS and AUTHORS in orcl database(10g) through SYSDBA.
    Again i logged in to SCOTT user account and am unable to see the BOOKS and AUTHORS tables.
    Please let me know how do i grant administrative privileges(to edit,delete,insert,update) to SCOTT user for these tables.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amrutha.

    1. Got now that SYSDBA is a role and SYS is user.
    2. I was able to login to sqlplus through giving "/ as SYSDBA" as the username. Hence i thought it as user."/ as sysdba" connects to the database as the SYS user using operating system authentication with the SYSDBA role enabled.
    3. Secondly, I dont know which schema does my BOOKS table belong to. Because i just ran a create table script in scott/tiger@orcl. PLease suggest how i can know which schema it belongs to.If you connected to the database as the SCOTT user and ran the script to create the table, the table would almost certainly be owned by SCOTT. If you connected to the database as the SYS user and ran the script to create the table, the table would most likely be owned by SYS. If the script specified the schema owner, i.e.
    CREATE TABLE library.book ...the table would be created in the specified schema. But you need to have very powerful privileges in order to create objects in other user's schemas and SCOTT does not have those privileges unless you've specifically granted them.
    4. Thirdly, I will delete the BOOKS and AUTHORS from SYS and create them in SCOTT user. But thought if GRANT privileges can be an alternative.Not really. It's much better to have the tables owned by the correct schema in the first place. You use grants to allow other users to access (or modify) tables but other users are not going to have the same level of privileges (for example, they're not going to be able to run DDL against the table).

  • Granting privilege through role not working for PL/SQL

    Version: 11.2.0.2
    In our shop, we don't grant privileges directly to a user, we grant it to a role and grant that role to the intended grantee.
    Granting privileges through a role seems to be fine with SQL Engine. But it doesn't work from PL/SQL engine.
    In the below example GLS_DEV user is granted SELECT access on SCOTT.pets table through a role called tstrole. GLS_DEV can select this table from SQL. But PL/SQL Engine doesn't seem to know this.
    Reproducing the issue:
    SQL> show user
    USER is "SCOTT"
    SQL> select * from pets;
    NAME
    PLUTO
    SQL> conn / as sysdba
    Connected.
    SQL> create user GLS_DEV identified by test1234 default tablespace TSTDATA;
    User created.
    SQL> alter user GLS_DEV quota 25m on TSTDATA;
    User altered.
    SQL> grant create session, resource to GLS_DEV;
    Grant succeeded.

    You really should start your own new thread for this question instead of resurrecting an old one, but to answer your question.
    There are two things going on here. First, there are a number of aler session commands that can be used by any user regardless of what privileges they are granted. Although I do not have the entire list at hand, things like nls_date_format and current_schema are available to all users, sort of like the grants to public in the data dictionary.
    Second, when you use execute immediate, the PL/SQL engine never really sees the statement, as far as the compiler is concerned it is just a string. It is only when the string is passed to the sql engine that permissions are checked, and there roles are not enabled.
    SQL> create role t_role;
    Role created.
    SQL> grant select on ops$oracle.t to t_role;
