Using a hasmap value in an if statement

Hello all,
I have a hashmap that has a hashmap for its value. Basically the the main hash map contains a "location" as the key and the value is a hash map that has two keys one for "assessed" which value will be "yes" or "no" and the other key is "stenosis" which puts a value such as 25, 34, 98 etc..
The has map get populated fine. what I need to do now is access the hash map and check the value of the assessed key and if the value = yes then do some code..
my problem is when I step through the code even though the value of the assessed key yes the if statement does not evaluate to true.
below is the section of my code in question that takes the vesselAssessd hashmap and sets up an iterator to grab each value of the child hashmap and use the if statement to process code depending if the child value = yes.
            // set up an iterator and look through the vesselAssessed HashMap
            Iterator vesselKeys = vesselAssessed.keySet().iterator();
            while(vesselKeys.hasNext()){
                String currentVesselKey = (String)vesselKeys.next();
                HashMap vesselChilds = (HashMap)vesselAssessed.get(currentVesselKey);
                Set childsKeySet = vesselChilds.keySet();
                Iterator childsKey = childsKeySet.iterator();
                // Set up the child keys and values of the current vessel
                while (childsKey.hasNext()){
                    String currentChildKey = (String)childsKey.next();
                    String childValue = (String)vesselChilds.get(currentChildKey);
                    // if the childValue = "yes" then add the stenosis into the
                    // database
                    if (childValue == "yes"){
                        {the code that will run}
                    }I verified that the string is all in the right case. Is there something im overlooking??
Thanks,
Dean

Danny is spot on, but a little elaboration for the beginner:
childValue == "yes" asks whether these two are the exact same String object. There are times when that's true, but it's unlikely. Instead, use String equals() ( childValue.equals("yes") ) to ask whether the two have the same value.
With the simple class Danny suggests:
class Vessel {
   private boolean assessed;
   private int stenosis;
   public boolean isAssessed() { return assessed; }
}All you need in the loop is
Iterator vessels = vesselAssessed.values().iterator();
while (vessels.hasNext()) {
   Vessel vessel = (Vessel) vessels.next();
   if (vessel.isAssessed()) {
}

  • Using pop-up value in select statement

    Hello.
    I want to select a value from a pop-up box and then use that value in a select statement for another pop-up. Is that possible?
    The first pop-up is P39_PIIN_CALL but it is not recognized in the second pop-up when I use it in the select statemnt... select * from table where PIIN = :P39_PIIN_CALL. I get nothing back because it has no idea what :P39_PIIN_CALL is. I'm desperate and on a timeline.

    After fetching the value from first popup the page should submit so that the value is availble to the second popup..

  • How to use cfloop index value as part of another variable

    Hello,
    I have a RATE form that first asks "how many rates will you
    be adding?" that answer generates a series of form elements based
    on the answer. You then have a form grid to populate, 3 values for
    each rate (price, code, name).
    This part works fine. The issue is now I need to INSERT the
    values into the table, so I need to use the INDEX value of the
    cfloop to recreate the amount (and names) of the fields in the
    INSERT statement. How do I escape, or re-create the evaluated form
    elements ( in which their count is #i# as the loop goes) when I
    need to evaluate for #i# AND evaluate for #form.sku_i_name# at the
    same pass?
    I am passing, for example, #form.sku_2_Name# where that might
    equal "Half Page". The number 2 in that variable was assigned
    during the form creation by the current index of a cfloop. Since my
    action (insert) page does not know how many (out of 50 possible)
    sku's are coming, how do I use the skuCount (another hidden value
    passed as well) to create a proper INSERT SQL command when I need
    to eval the form element and the index at the same time?
    Obviously #sku_#i#_Name# does not work, and #sku_i_Name# does
    not either... I know this can be done, and that I am just doing it
    wrong.
    Thanks for any help!

    how it works
    As all three of us indicated you use array notation for this
    type of
    requirement. In ColdFusion you can use array notation or dot
    notation
    to access structure data. Almost all data in ColdFusion is
    now some
    type of structure.
    I.E. #Form['myField']# is the same as #Form.myField#.
    The advantage is that with array notation you can do things
    you can not
    do with dot notation. You can reference elements that have
    keys that
    are illegal variable names such as one with a space.
    I.E. #url['my field'] is allowed, #url.my field# would fail
    or course.
    And you can concatenate the key string as we did with your
    example.
    I.E. #Form['aString' & aVariable]#
    There are many powerful things one can do with this
    knowledge. One can
    access record sets with array notations. This can allow for
    very
    sophisticated parsing of a record set.
    I.E. #myQuery['column'][row]#
    You can dynamical call a variable. Thus creating dynamic code
    that does
    not even need to know what variables exist until run time.
    I.E. #variables[anyName]#
    This just scratches the surface.

  • Non-Database Item Sort Using Multiple Block Values

    I need to sort the result set of a block based on a calculated item. I found several messages addressing this, however they all speak to using the columns from within the same block as input variables to the function used to calculate the non-database column value.
    My problem is that I need to use values from a different block as input variables. I have not found a way to use them since I need to use the full block.column syntax. Forms does not like this and always thows an error right at the period(.). I need to do this because the column names are the same in each block. the function compares the column values and changes the record instance background a different color based based on how many of the column pairs match. Each block is mutually exclusive from each other and doing a accurate join is not really possible.
    I tried renaming the block column name to something unique, however I get a variable not bound error when I try to use it in the order by function even though their values are in the top most block.
    For Example:
    First Block. Contains a list of cases that need to be worked because the automated process could not find a valid provider based on the values received. This list is created by a background process.
    Table: CASE_MAIN
    TIN
    CASE_ID
    FCLTY_CM
    MEDICARE_CM
    Unrelated Second Block (i.e., no join). It uses the TIN value in the first block to get a list of all of the providers for the TIN associated with the Case so that a person can assign the correct Provider to the case (A TIN has a provider and address associated with it). As a result there is no link to the results of this table and the CASE_ID. That's what the users needs to do manually
    Table: PROVIDER_MAIN
    FCLTY
    MEDICARE
    I need to take the values in the first block and compare them in the second block so that I can recolor the background based on matching logic in the function below.
    order by clause = get_vals( ''||:FCLTY_CM||''
    ,''||:MEDICARE_CM||''
    ,fclty
    ,medicare) desc
    I am able to do the coloring within the form easily, however I need to order them by how many values match exactly so the ones that match to most value pairs show at the top. Hence ordering by the result of the function. I return a 0,1, or 2 based on the matches. 0 for none and 2 for both.
    I cannot create a view because the sources of the information I need to compare are NOT related to each other, yet. that is what the application is designed to do. I have a case without a
    provider assigned, but I have a tax id number that possible identifies the provider. I use this TIN to query the provider table for all of the possible providers under that TIN. As a result there is no link between the case information and provider information. The goal is to get this list compare the values from the target information and put the most likely matches on top, with
    the ones with the most matches first. I can create a function many ways that takes in various parameters. For example Case ID and Provider Id and query the records in subselects
    individually like so;
    select count(*)
    from (select fclty, medicare from case_main where case_id p_case_id) cm
    ,(select fclty, medicare from provider_main where prv_id = p_prv_id) pm
    where cm.fclty = pm.fclty
    and cm.medicare = pm.medicare
    If the number is greater than zero I know I have a match with that provider and I can sort accoringly. I can also pass in the target information from case_main and the provider inforation from provider_main and then do an if/then statement for comparing. Then I can use this function to create a column value for each record and then use the same reference to the function in the order by clause to order by that value.
    The problem comes in trying to reference the case_id or target information from a different block than where the fucntion needs to be used. I get a variable bound not error message. What am I missing here. Why can I not reference a uniquely named block item as a input variable to a function in a different block? Does Forms first figure out what it needs to retrieve and then executes the SQL for each block in isolation, or does the first block's result set get retrieved, then the second, third, etc. Based on the message i am getting I would suspect the former since it appears their is no value in subsequent blocks. If so is there anyway around this? thanks.

    Don't quite understand your problem completely. But this might help. I sure hope your Provider_Main is a single-record block ...otherwise, how would you supply a list of values of FCLTY and MEDICARE to the function that does the sorting? Be awere, too, that the order-by is processed by the server, and NOT by Forms.
    Assuming it is a single-record block, you can put the values into parameters:
    :Parameter.Fclty := :Provider_Main.Fclty;
    :Parameter.Medicare := :Provider.Medicare;
    Execute_Query;
    And your order-by clause would be
    get_vals( ''||:FCLTY_CM||'',''||:MEDICARE_CM||'',
    :Parameter.Fclty,
    :Parameter.Medicare) desc
    By the way, the first line of your order-by looks strange. Shouldn't it be:
    get_vals( FCLTY_CM || ',' || MEDICARE_CM,
    or even better, get_vals should take in 4 parameters:
    get_vals(Fclty_cm, Medicare_cm, :parameter.Fclty, :parameter.Medicare)

  • Using a variable value from when page was generated

    I have an application that can popup in separate windows multiple instances of the same Apex page. At the time of generation of the first instance, P1_key is 100. The user then opens a second instance of the same apex page with the current value of P1_key equal to say 200. If the user submits the first instance of the page, I want to use the previous value of P1_key, 100, to update that row in the database. The application wants to use the current value of P1_key, which is 200. So the user thinks he's updating record 100, but, in effect, is updating record 200. How do I get Apex to recognize the value of a variable at the time the page instance was generated, even though the current value of the variable may have changed due to a second (or third) instance of the page having been opened?

    Could I open the page in its own session possibly, in order to prevent Apex State management from always utilizing the "current" value?

  • Msql and o8i - using a default value in an insert

    1. In an Oracle 8i Enterprise DB I have a primary key in table FOO called FOO_ID, it's SQL description is:
    FOO_ID NUMBER DEFAULT TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'HH24MMSSMMDDYY') NOT NULL
    1.5 I test via TOAD inserting a record into the DB without specifying FOO_ID, but specifying other values in the table row. I commit the data. When I commit the table correctly fills in FOO_ID with a time/date stamp per the above definition.
    2. I run wtgpack and create an application which uses this table. I check the SQL code to make sure the column definition is copied to the snapshot which will be the basis for Oracle 9i Lite mobile DB on my laptop.
    3. I run msync.exe and get the DB.
    4. I run msql to make sure the data replicated ok. It did.
    5. I run an INSERT statement not specifying a primary key hoping that the default will be used. For example,
    "INSERT INTO FOO (FOO_TYPE) VALUES ('Test Type')";
    I get the following error from msql:
    [POL-3221] null key in primary index
    The questions is, why isn't the O9iLite DB using the default value when creating the new record/row?

    I even tried using the following WHERE clause (which emulates the

    Code:

    ($P{mysortfield} = 'evt_src_name' AND evt_src_name LIKE ($P{searchvalue} || '%'))

    Thank you for the suggestions:
    While trying to implement your suggestions I realized that there was a
    error at the parameter name I used inside the where clause (it should be
    $P{searchfield}).
    Here are my results:
    Code:
    vt_src_mgr_name LIKE '%' || '%'
    worked as expected.
    Code:
    $P{searchfield} LIKE '%' || '%'
    produced PDF but wrong output.
    Code:
    $P!{searchfield} LIKE '%' || '%'
    resulted with the error "java.lang.String cannot be cast to
    net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRValueParameter" and no PDF.
    Then I tried the following where clause which resulted in exactly as
    expected PDF:
    Code:
    WHERE
    ($P{searchfield} = 'evt_src_mgr_name' AND evt_src_mgr_name LIKE ($P{searchvalue} || '%')) OR
    ($P{searchfield} = 'evt_src_collector_name' AND evt_src_collector_name LIKE ($P{searchvalue} || '%')) OR
    ($P{searchfield} = 'evt_src_grp_name' AND evt_src_grp_name LIKE ($P{searchvalue} || '%')) OR
    ($P{searchfield} = 'evt_src_name' AND evt_src_name LIKE ($P{searchvalue} || '%'))
    As a summary:
    * The query which works in iRepord do not work in Sentinel Log
    Manager.
    * I found a workaround for my case.
    * I did not checked, but the reports provided in Sentinel RD which use
    the same technique for VendorProduct parameter (i.e. the reports with
    query string containing
    Code:
    LIKE ($P{VendorProduct} || '%')
    will most probably not work as expected IF Sentinel RD uses the same
    code as Sentinel Log Manager.

  • Filtering internal table using select-option values

    Hi,
    I got an internal table with select-option values. for eg.  it_perno with the values  I  BT    000160    000170.
    Now i got another second internal table which is have the person number. Now i need to filter this second internal table based on the values from the select option table. my question is
    i can collect all the values from 160 to 170 in a separate table by looping over the select option table. and then based on the values filter the second internal table person number.
    But what would be the case if the select option contains both intervals and multiple options. For eg.
    I BT 000160      000170.
    I EQ 000185.
    So can you suggest any good solution, that based on this select option table i need to filter the second internal table Person number.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    anbu.

    Hi,
    Can you not use the select-options in the Select query while populating the internal table.
    SELECT pernr FROM pa0000 INTO it_tab WHERE pernr IN s_pernr.
    If you cannot do this and you do not want to delete the unwanted entries, then you can use the WHERE clause in the LOOP statement to process the specific entries required:
    LOOP AT it_tab INTO wa_tab WHERE pernr IN s_pernr.

    Let's assume column XYZ has both numbers (1), and letters (any alphabet).
    I have a case statement on SQL to turn any value that's not 1 into 0, then I am getting a sum of that column.
    I am also grouping by Row A, B etc to get aggregated sum of column XYZ for those group.
    Now on Crystal Reports function, I need to sum up values under column XYZ for all the groups.
    If I try using sum function like below, I get an error stating:
    "A number field or currency amount field is required here"
    (sum({Command.XYZ}))
    So I thought if I can use a case statement to change the non-numbers to 0 prior to sum that will probably resolve it. But I could not get the below case statement to work either (Error: A string is required).
    SELECT {Command.XYZ}
       Case 1:
          1
       Default:
          0;

    Hi
    welcome to SDN forum
    move that X field to a char field and use in concatenation
    CONCATENATE works only with CHAR fields

  • Assigning value inside a case statement

    Hi friends
    iam using the below code and can any one tell me why even after assigning the value in the case statement it coming out of it.
    code
       data :
          p1(1) type n.
          case p1.
            when '0'.
              write 'sunday'.
            p1 = 1.
            when '1'.
              write 'monday'.
             p1 = 2.
            when others.
              write 'invalid day'.
         endcase.
    output.
       sunday
    can any one tell me why it is coming out of the case statement even iam assigning p1 = 1

    This is happening b'cause u have already in the when clause where u r setting the value of the variable that is controlling ur case..endcase statement.To meet ur requirement u need to trigger the case..endcase statement again as shown below:
    data :
    p1(1) type n.
    do 3 times.
    case p1.
    when '0'.
    write 'sunday'.
    p1 = 1.
    when '1'.
    write 'monday'.
    p1 = 2.
    when others.
    write 'invalid day'.
    endcase.
    enddo.

  • Using a parameter value as a column name

    Hi,
       I have created an command like this:
    update table1 set [Param.1] = '[Param.2]' where id = [Param.3]
    where:
    Param.1 = COL1
    Param.2 = Hello
    Param.3 = 1 (the primary key I want to change).
    When I run this SQL Action I get the following error message:
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01747: invalid user.table.column, table.column, or column specification
       I have double checked the values of my parameters and they are all correct. There is a column named COL1, and its type is varchar2, and there is PK = 1.
       So, my question is: Is it a limitation of xMII (we can not take column names from parameters) or there is a mistake here?
    Thank you in advance,
    Nuno Cunha

    Hi Nuno,
    I see you are trying to perform Dynamic SQL execution in Oracle.
    In order to execute a Dynamic SQL you need to use the following syntax
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'Sql Statement with any runtime params like cloumns, even table names too';
    And I guess you can use an Dynamic Sql only within a PL/SQL block.
    Please refer to the below link for more details
    [Dynamic SQL|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10500_01/appdev.920/a96590/adg09dyn.htm]
    Hope this helps!!

  • Dynamically defined GeoRaster theme using WMS parameter values

    Hi everyone,
    In addition to dynamically defining a GeoRaster theme using SQL (which is documented by Oracle), is it possible to somehow access the WMS values of parameters in the WMS query which is accessing the theme? For example, can I grab the BBOX values from the WMS REQUEST and use that in my dynamic SQL statement?
    My goal for doing this is to select the most appropriate pyramid level of the raster imagery given the map scale of the WMS request.
    My other question is when using a GeoRaster theme containing a SQL statement, will the MapViewer WMS engine still automatically select imagery from all and any relevant georaster image that has a portion within the BBOX of the query?
    Cheers,
    MH

    A Georaster object can have pyramid levels, and in MapViewer you can define a pyramid level for a theme. If you define this parameter, then for any zoom level that you render, MapViewer will read the pixels for this pyramid level. Depending on the zoom level, you may be loading unecessary data due to the screen resolution. If you do not define the pyramid level, MapViewer will calculate the actual screen resolution given the query and device windows, and will load the pixels for the pyramid level that is closest to the actual screen resolution, resulting on a better performance.
