Graph Quadrant Colour/Conditional Formatting

Hi Experts,
I have scatter graphs representing the % growth YoY (Y axis) and MoM (X axis.)
Due to the variable percentages, the axis are not fixed and the scales on various graphs are different.
There is a requirement to colour the quadrants of the graphs with the top right being green, top left amber, bottom right orange and bottom left red.
Alternatively, the points can be coloured/changed based on which quadrant they are in.
Can anybody help?
Kind Regards,

Thanks for the help but this does not give the desired effect.
The entire quadrants need to be coloured or the points within that quadrant coloured.
This is because the points on the graph vary to an extent that one graph may show ve X, ve Y, another, -ve X, -ve Y.
Should there be a way to conditionally format the points such as they are a particular shape/colour depending on whcih quadrant they are in, is there a way to label the points on the graph with the same labels in the legend, thus ensuring that there can be no confusion over what each point represents?
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,

  • Conditional format in graphs

    I'm using BI EE 10.3.1.2 and tested the new feature of conditionally formating a graph.
    Works fine. However, if I drill down in that graph , conditional format get lost, all other formats remain.
    Is this a bug or a feature?

    Mike, Did you test it with a table. Is the conditional format condition still valid at the level you drill down to ?

  • Hiding values through conditional formatting (colour change)

    Hi all,
    OBIEE version is 10.1.3.4.0.
    I have some reports where I'm supposed to hide some values as soon as they surpass a certain threshold. Hide, not filter that is. Conditional formatting being the obvious choice I wanted to simply set the colour to the background colour when the threshold is surpassed.
    However, since all affected reports use alternating row highlighting, the background colour may change. I.e. it's not simply about colouring the values #FFFFFF
    I can't use CSS style display:none by the way, since this actually shifts the following columns to the left
    Without display:none

    With display:none:

    Any thoughts on this?
    Cheers,

    We did achieve conditional formatting for pivot tables. This is the workaround. See if this helps.
    Create a new column measure at the BMM layer (Lets call it 'M'). This is the measure based on which the conditional formatting on another measure has to be done. Add this column 'M' to the report columns in the pivot table.
    Now, we get 2 measures. The report shows data for both these measures, side-by-side in the results. Now to use conditional formatting in the column that we just added-
    Use the images (traffic signals, colored lines, colored arrows etc) provided by OBIEE in the 'Format' tab after applying the conditional formatting. OBIEE provides a choices to "Display Images only". Choose this option.
    Now the report has 2 measure columns side-by-side with value and the image. We have to merge these columns for the visual effect. Use the column border property for both the measures. In the first mesure select the column border as 'C' and in the adjacent column select a mirror image of 'C' (mirror on right side of 'C'). This provides a visual effect that the two columns are one.
    This concept can be use to hide values also.

  • HT4648 So if you import a numbers document from a mac to iPad which has a conditional format rule such as a cell with a score between 1-10 fills with the colour black will still work on the iPad? Not being able to edit it just means you can't change this

    I want to use numbers on my iPad mini for a team I coach. I have a spreadsheet on my mac I want to import onto the iPad mini for players to enter in wellness ratings. On this spreadsheet (on the mac) I have a conditioning formatting rule that when a player enters in their numbers the cells fill with black so others can't see their entries (to maintain privacy). Will this function import across onto iPad numbers? From the discussion I saw on this site it only partly answers my question stating "it cannot be edited" does this mean the conditional formatting rule cannot be changed and therefore will still work or the whole spreadsheet can't be edited and you can only view the spreadsheet and make no new entries to it?

    Yes, I have posted this thread to different forums after I realized that Lenovo "customer care" is not likely to help me out and even wirelessforums.org members couldn't come up with any ideas for days, that's why. I have already written that helper applications like SMAC (or etherchange or macshift) don't work, because they do the same thing in the system as I change it in the driver panel, so they use the same method which simply does not work.
    Locked? Definitely not. If yes, why can I change the MAC of my adapter under Ubuntu Linux using b43 open-source driver if it's really locked? Or you mean it's locked from software, because Lenovo or Broadcom didn't want their users to change their MACs or they just forgot to release a fully-functional driver? Well, then I would like to have a driver in which it's not locked, because this is a basic feature of my adapter of which the hardware is capable.
    I have already contacted Broadcom, see their (automatically-generated) answer in my initial post, but I will try to do that again with more foresight.

  • Conditional Formatting - how to change cell colour based on cell value

    I am in the process of moving some Excel spreadsheets into Numbers on my iPad. The Excel spreadsheet had conditional formatting in certain cells. If the cell value was less than a certain amount (<46 for example), the cell background would automatically turn yellow.
    Is there any way to make Numbers on iPad do this?
    Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Oracle BI Answers Conditional Formatting

    Hi,
    Im using Oracle BI Answers and I am trying to set the colour conditioning function on the following graph:
    On the X axis I have company branches, on the Y axis I have sales figures. The two values that I have projected on the graph are sales figures for the current month (first bar - bar A) against sales figures of the same month last year (second bar - Bar B). My requirement is to condition the colours on Bar A so that for each branch if Bar A is equal to Bar B, the colour for Bar A should be amber, if Bar A is greater then Bar B for each branch the colour should be red and if the Bar A is less than Bar B, the colour should be green. The colour on Bar B is always grey. I tried using the "Format Chart Data" setting on the Chart, and when I try setting the condition for Bar A, the only options I am given are the numbers on the Y axis; I cant seem to set a condition for Bar A against another variable - Bar B for each of the divisions on the same chart.
    Any ideas how I can resolve that? Thank you in advance.

    Thank you very much for your suggestion. I am having difficulties with the fact that the helper column has different values for each branch/division, and the column A cannot be conditioned against the helper column as it is not a constant value, but several different values. Also, if I hide the helper column, its values would not be shown in the conditional formatting option.
    Do you have any ideas?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Report generation toolkit conditional format - how to?

    Hi
    We are using the Report generation toolkit (2010 version), and have a question regarding this tool.
    I see functions for setting the number format, but not a conditional format. Does this not exist?
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/372120A-01/lvoffice/excel_set_cell_format/
    This page refers to an example which from the name sets a conditional format. However as I understand it, this example is setting a custom number, not a conditional format.

    Hi,
    the simplest way to do this I guess you can provide a template for your Excel sheet, where you can set the conditional format there.
    From LabVIEW you can just send the values into this sheet-template.
    Maybe you can try these if you want

    Hi
    Can I make a recommendation for a great Excel plug-in for relational databases? It is called Excel-DB and is available from here: http://excel-db.net
    It is priced at only $395 per user, with a 20% discount for 10 or more. I bought it myself about two weeks ago and have been amazed by its ease of use.
    If anyone here does decide to buy it please put the code ASC on your purchase screen. That will let them know who recommended the product to you.
    You can also see demos of its functionality by clicking here:
    http://www.excel-db.net/demos.htm
    I've not seen a better database plug-in for Excel in all my 25 years of working in the industry. A blog posting is in the works but for now you'll have to follow these links and take a look for yourself.

  • AR Invoice Conditional Formatting

    Hello
    I've done some customizing of our AR invoice, which includes some conditional formatting on several fields. If it’s a credit note change the colour of a border & font and hide some details. The report works fine if I run the report for one invoice/credit note. Unfortunately, when I run the report for a range of invoices e.g. inv nums 1000 - 1020, (which can contain a mixture of credit notes and invoices), only one field does the conditional formatting.
    The field that keeps the format is a Formula column in the inv header fixed frame (above it are 2 repeating frames) If contents of field = CREDIT NOTE then change font colour.
    The fields that won't do the conditional formatting are in the margin (page footer on the invoice). The field I use for the test is the same as the test used in the header. I’ve had several error messages, the most common being ‘…wrong frequency…’ I’ve tried putting the value in a Summary and Placeholder columns and I’ve tried adding these columns to the query in the data model. In fact I’ve tried that many things I can’t remember what I’ve tried.
    To complicate matters all the fields in the margin are either Placeholder, Summery of Formula columns. None of which holds anything that I can do a test on (They are either address/account or payment details etc).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can’t afford to loose anymore hair.
    Cheers
    Mike

    Hi Mark
    I think its solved. I've extended the header frame as far as I can and placed some of the footer info in the header. I've ran a couple of tests, so far things are looking good. Format is working and feilds stay where I want them. Unfortunately it means me extending other frames to allow me to extend the header frame to the bottom of the page etc as well as moving all the stuff from the margin, but I suppose thats what I get paid for.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Apply conditional formatting for a textbox in a matrix that contains an expression

    I have a matrix that contains one row, and one of the columns in this row (a field ) contains an expression. I know this field is "Textbox24" but anyway, I have created a placeholder for this field and in Placeholder Properties I have given the
    label "PD". Note that the Value in this placeholder shows "Expr" because it contains an expression.
    I don't think this is relevant, but just in case, the expression is:
    =Code.GetPercentageDifferenceBetweenCurrentAndPreviousValue()
    where GetPercentageDifferenceBetweenCurrentAndPreviousValue is custom code for the report which returns a decimal value. This works correctly in Preview mode.
    I now want to apply conditional formatting on this field so the colour of the font changes depending on the value of the expression. I clicked on the text box of that field, and in Properties > Color > Expression > I entered
    =IIF(Fields!PD.Value >= 50,"Green","Black")
    When I go to Preview mode I get the error "The Color expression for the text box 'Textbox24' refers to the field 'PD'. Report item expression can only refer to fields within the current dataset scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified
    data set."
    I have tried a couple of other forms of the sytax for Fields!PD.Value but it doesn't work. Is my problem a syntax problem or a scope problem, and how do I solve it?
    Thank you

    From your description, PD is not a field so you cannot reference it as a field. You can do what you want by referring to the textbox:
    =IIf(ReportItems!Textbox24.Value >= 50."Green","Black")

  • Error while processing conditional formatting formula in crosstab

    This conditional formatting formula must return one of the following Color Constants: ' A number, currency amount, boolean, date, time, date-time, or string is expected here. Details: errorKind
    The above error is displayed on the the Business Objects Report Server when running my report.
    The XI server version information is as follows:
    BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2
    Business Objects
    11.5.0.3135
    20060628
    Crystal Reports XI Release 2
    Business Objects
    11.5.0.31327
    20060628
    My IDE is Crystal Reports 2008.
    The error is being generated for the following conditional formatting formula which is in my crosstab:
    evaluateafter ({@concatAppTypeAppMethod});
    if CurrentRowIndex = 1 then
        color(0,153,153)
    else if CurrentRowIndex = 2 then
        color(168,146,101)
    else if CurrentRowIndex = 3  then
        color(0,51,153)
    else if CurrentRowIndex = 4  then
        color(204,51,51)
    else
        color(153,153,153)
    This formula is applied via the Crosstab "Format Field>Font" tab.  In the report developer (Crystal 2008) the report runs without error.  When deployed to the server it fails with the above error.
    Heres the details of {@concatAppTypeAppMethod}:
    whileprintingrecords;
    "Designs filed " + {Command.APPLICATION_METHOD}
    The crosstab is structured as:
    Row = {@concatAppTypeAppMethod}
    Column = {@getMonth}
    Summary = Count of {@concatAppTypeAppMethod}
    Details for  {@getMonth}:
    right(totext(year({Command.ACN_COMPLETED_DATE}),"#"),2) + totext(month({Command.ACN_COMPLETED_DATE}),"0#")
    The above functions Row i.e. {@concatAppTypeAppMethod} and {@getMonth} use fields from the SQL command.
    {@getMonth} parses the ACN_COMPLETED_DATE field, obtains the record month and year and concatenates these as a string which can be displayed as follows in the crosstab:
    May-08, Jun-08 etc.
    {@concatAppTypeAppMethod} parses the APPLICATION_METHOD field and obtains the application filing method i.e. Online or Internally and concatenates the pretext "Designs filed " to the filing method (also a string).
    I have tried various combinations of whilereadingrecords, whileprintingrecords and evaluateafter() with no success.  The problem occurs because the conditional formatting formula is being executed before the records being formatted are ready.
    I believe this is a problem with the crystal reports software and/or XI server.
    Please prove me wrong.

    Hi Raghavendra,
    Thanks for your prompt answer!  Can you confirm?  Is it because I'm using calculated members in the report and these are not support by the XI server specified in my error report above?
    If so, do you have any suggestions with regard to how I might be able to create a graph with the following attributes:
    Show summary (count) of records per month per application method (i.e. online or internal. this is a database field retruned by the SQL command).  In addition I need to add a series to the graph that shows the totals number of records per month irrespective of the relative application method (i.e. sum of online and internal) and finally I need to show the total number of online applications (i.e. application method = online) as a percentage of the total number of applications for the month.

  • Conditional formating in report painter (GRR2)

    Hi all,
    An end user ask me if it's possible to do a conditional formatting in a cell of report painter (run with GRR3) if the value is true (i.e. as in excel, you can colour a cell if it's less than zero and so on). I know that it's possible with the BEx (for SAP BI), xcelsius, crystal reports and surely with bussiness object. I can see that it's only available do the format for the all column or for a line, but I don't  find the option for a cell with a condition (surely because it isn't available).
    Please, confirm me if it is not available, because I'm a long time looking for a reply but I only find info about BEx, xcelsius and so on (nothing related with report painter, GRR2 and so on). But if it's possible, please let me know how to do it.
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards,
    Eduardo

    Hi,
    I don't think that we can put the conditional formula. but we can do the calcualtion by row wise or column wise.
    Thanks.

  • Conditional format in cross tab

    Post Author: RobotSlave
    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
    Hello All
    Crystal 2008 12.0.0.549
    I have a crosstab report in that repeats in each GF1 that displays values for several variables over an eleven month span, for instance a shortened data set might look like this:
                           FEB     MAR      APR       MAY ....
    Claims             1233     876         666         888  ....
    sold                 987       987         7 7         8 888  ...
    etc...
    I want to display conditional formatting such that if a value in the claims row is over 800, make the font RED for that column only. When I use a conditional formatting formula in the format editor font dialog, it makes the whole row red, when the values clearly do not all meet the required "800". I have experimented with making certain my value is a number and not a string, and I'm stymied. Does anyone have any input?

    use formula field. Write your condition in that formula field and in select the display string option of the column in the report.Make the display string output as the output of formula field.for eg. @formula -

  • Numbers point to a cell with different formatting to create conditional format

    Hi all, not sure if this has been brought up but my search efforts haven't found anything. I know conditional formatting is not supported in IOS numbers but I saw a buddy do a little trick a while ago and I've been trying to replicate it. On his iPad, he created a numbers spreadsheet that had a logic function (=if). And if that function was true it pointed to another cell with different formatting. The result was, the cell would become the same format as the cell it was pointing too. This created the effect of a conditional format in a sense. I can get this to work with limited effect, only if the cell is a "text" cell and not a formula. As well the background colour doesn't get picked up, only the format of the cell text itself. I'm trying to get in touch with him for help but in the mean time does anyone have any experience in this kind of method?
    Cheers

    As an example:
    If A > B, then A-B, otherwise make it equal this other cell (D1 for example)
    {=if(a1>b1,a1-b1,d1)}
    And in that d1 cell I would make another formula that also does the same subtraction (a1-b1) however knowing it will be a negative number this time, I paint the cell bright red and hopefully the original cell will then look the same since it is now equal to this one.
    Unfortunately it looks like this wont work. The closest thing to doing this trick I have found is pointing to a cell formatted as text, such as a blank cell. Then the original cell takes on the formatting characteristics of the text cell.  The problem is the text cell is useless since it can't do any sort of math. I can't even set the cell to simply equal another one and format it as text only. So far it looks like the only conditional type of trickery I can do is make the numbers disappear by pointing to a blank text cell.
    I hope that helps describe it a little better.

  • After Exchange 2010 SP3 and rollup 4 update conditional formatting causes messages not to appear in Outlook 2010

    Hi,
    after updating to exchange 2010 sp 3 from sp 2 and also updating to rollup 4, users who use conditional formatting cannot see new message unless they close and reopen Outlook.
    If you decide to change the font colour for unread messages, the messages do not appear in Outlook but a pop up indicates that a new message has arrived.
    If you reopen Outlook, the unread messasge appears.
    remove the conditional formatting and no issue with viewing unread messages as they arrive.
    running Outook version 14.0.7106.5003
    is this a known issue?  a user who never used conditional formatting will experience this right away.
    Thanks,
    rudif

    Hi rudif,
    If the issue only happens to users who use conditional formatting and OWA can work well for all mailbox, I think the issue should be in client side.
    Please try to reset View then set the conditional formatting back to have a try. If the issue continues, please try to recreate the Outlook profile to check whether the issue persists. Also try restarting Outlook in Safe mode by running
    Outlook /safe switch.
