Graphics problems with falcon 4.0

Has anyone else had problems with Falcon 4.0 since updating to Mac 0sx 10.8.1? the graphics seem really mucked up?
not loading properly. I've contacted graphsim they said it was a problem that mac to solve.

I was finally able to get it to work tonight.  Unfortunately, I did all of the below before testing, so I don't know if it was one thing or all of the above.
1) Downloaded the Nvidia Cuda driver update for OS X 10.8.3
2) In the game settings, under graphics, I reduced the complexity of the various textures, etc to the minimum value.  I then unchecked the additional 3 options, something like Antialiasing, Mipmap, etc.
After this, the game loaded just fine, with no pixelation issues and was smooth as silk.
Then, I slowly started increasing the texture sliders up to maximum values and checked all three of the options boxes unchecked above.  I did this one at a time testing each time.  Everything ran smooth.  On the last go-round when everything was maxed and all boxes checked, I did get pixelation again upon loading, but each time, it dissapeared after 1-2 seconds and everything was good to go.
SO, not sure what did it, but it is running for me now.

No, it's not Lion. It may be something you installed. If you just bought it you could also take it back to the Apple Store and they may be able to help.

  • TouchSmart 600-1050 - Graphics Problem with MS Outlook

I have a TouchSmart 600-1050. When I open MS Outlook, and then open the Calendar in a separate window, the window opens as non-maximized and everything is fine. When I maximize the window (I start in Week view), the tasks below each day do not stretch to fit their now wider column. It's as if the graphics don't recalculate for that screen element. Once I am maximized and see the problem, I have to switch to another view (e.g. Month or Day) and back to Week and it will fix itself. Feels like a graphics problem, underpowered chipset or bug in driver (?).
This was not a problem on my HP Desktop I had before, and it is not a problem on my 3 year old Lenovo ThinkPad X60. All are running W7 and using Office 2007.
Any ideas? The graphics driver is up to date according to HP Update and Device Manager.
    Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I tried both of your suggestions and the issue occurred in both. I've never noticed the sub-content not maximizing properly in other apps, but haven't tested thoroughly.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    - Should I checked a different way to see if I have the latest drivers?
    - Is there any way for me to upgrade my 600-1050 with the graphics card in the 600-1055? The 1050's "Mobile PCI Express Module" is open/available. Could I buy the nVidia GeForce GT 230 that comes with the 1055 and hook that up?
Only reason I suggest this is that the graphics seem sluggish to update at times.
    Thanks.

  • HP Envy 15 Graphics Problem with Windows 8.1 (Intel and NVidia Graphics). Help!

I bought an HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j013ea about 6 months ago and I have had a major problem with the graphics that I cannot seem to solve. I think it started when I updated to Windows 8.1, even though I am not 100% certain.
I have noticed the following three problems, and I think they are related:
Some windows (such as Chrome, Skype, or even Device Manager or other windows) are very blurry compared to others.
The firefox menu window has some deformed black arrows instead of the normal ones.
When playing a game (specifically, Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2), after a while I get an error that the computer has ran out of memory. However, according to task manager, only about 50% is in use, not to mention that I have 8 GB of RAM + 2 GB graphics memory. At the same time, the computer gets rather loud (like a fan working overtime) and hot.
The laptop has both Intel and NVidia graphics, and both are enabled in Device Manager. To be honest, I have no idea which is used when, or how to check that (let me know if there is a way)
I have tried the following without success:
Uninstalling the Intel graphics driver from device manager and installing a version I downloaded from the HP website for my laptop and OS. After that, Windows would NOT BOOT, and I had to do a system restore.
Uninstalling the Intel graphics from Programs and Features, and installing 2 different versions from the Intel website. Nothing changed.
Updating Nvidia driver through GeForce Experience. Nothing changed.
Updating Intel drivers from Windows Update. Nothing changed.
Quite frankly I am not sure what the problem could be, since the graphics versions are supposed to be compatible with WIndows 8.1. I also don't get why some windows are blurry and others are not. I am thinking the computer uses only the Intel graphics and not the Nvidia (at least in the blurry windows), but even if that was the case (and it shouldn't be), I don't think I should be having this problem.
At this point, I really need help. My graphics details are:
Intel HD Graphics 4600: Driver version: 10.18.10.3412
NVidia GeForce GT 740M: Driver version: 335.23
    NVidia GeForce Experience version: 1.8.2
I am attaching screenshots that show driver details and the problems.
    Thank you.
    Blurry Chrome:
    Firefox menu problem:
Device Manager and driver windows are also blurry, both graphics are shown

I had a similar problem with a Dell laptop.  I found the problem was the laptop wanted to switch between the Intel and NYIDIA video cards.  It would switch to the Intel when high graphics was not required then to the NIVIDIA when high graphics was required.  The laptop does this to save power when high graphics is not required but it caused problems with some applications, specifically high graphics games.
For me the solution was to disable the Intel graphics processor.  You can do this by right clicking on your Wallpaper, select the NIVIDIA Control Panel, then select Set Physx Configuration.  You will see a dropdown box labeled Select Physx Processor.  It is set to Auto by default.  This allows the switching I described. Select this dropdown box and select your NIVIDIA processor.  This will prevent the laptop from switching and force it to use your NVIDIA processor exclusively.
    Hope this helps.

  • Gaming-Graphics problem with MacBook White Unibody (Late 2009)

Hello there, this is going on:
When I open any game (like call of duty 4) it seems to work ok, 90-125 fps as it should be (800x600 minimum graphics), and this happens the first 5-10 minutes i'm playing, then it starts to seriously lag itself, FPS goes down to 30-40 fps with a veeery poor performance, unplayable, for like 5-10 minutes, and then it starts to work fine again. I can't exactly explain it, but I don't see the fans running faster, they stay steel, the MacBook starts to heat a little and that's all I can tell.
I though this was a Mac OS X problem with the video card, but same thing happens on Boot Camp, with Windows 7, with ANY game i'm playing. Then I tried to restart the PRAM and SMC, but I don't have any solution.
Is this a Hardware problem? Is this happening just to me or is there anybody who has this problem, too? Help! and thanks in advance.

I have had this problem for the last year with iRacing and lately F1 2010.
In good news, I seem to have solved it last week. I did some googling and saw a few posts that suggested it could be due to the GPU overheating. To test this I downloaded and installed Speedfan in windows and smcFanControl in OSX.
Both apps will enable you to monitor the temp of your CPU and GPU. I noticed generally in OSX the GPU hits a max of around 72 degrees Celsius. When I switched to windows and fired up iRacing and then F1 2010 I noticed it was all fine till the GPU hit around 90 degrees Celsius. At that point it the FPS drop kicked in and I went from 70 odd FPS in iRacing to 20 FPS.
To get around the problem, You can turn up the fan speed, which will stop the GPU from getting so hot. Unfortunately for a reason I don't understand SpeedFan will not allow you to control the speed of the fan in windows. So you need increase the speed to 5000 - 6000 RPM using smcFanControl in OSX. If you restart then fire up Windows the fan speed will stay at the higher rate you have set.
Since I started doing that my FPS drop problems seem to have disappeared.
The problem is if you then put windows to sleep, when you wake it up again the fan will go back to the default speed. So if you need shut the lid of your laptop, you have to restart to Mac OSX, then set the fan speed, the restart to windows. Painful but better than FPS drops.
If anyone has any other thoughts on any of this stuff I would love to hear it.

  • Graphical problems with Safari

    Hi all,
Tried posting this in the Using you r MacBook Pro forum but no response so maybe it's more relevant here...
My MB Pro has developed a strange graphical glitch when using Safari and navigating to sites from the top sites screen and when stepping back to it. Basically instead of zooming in from the preview to a full page, I get a weird pattern of vertical coloured lines (usually colours that feature on the page) as it zooms. This remains there for a few moments whilst the page loads and refreshes. The same happens in reverse if I navigate back from the page.
This is a fairly recent occurrence. Is it a Safari issue? Or perhaps an Nvidia graphics issue? I'm running on the higher performance graphics setting.
Any help/ advice would be much appreciated...
    Many thanks in advance!

  • Why am I Having Graphics Problems with the Latest Version 29.0.1 of Firefox?

It seems like after I installed version 29.0.1 of Firefox, I'm having intermittent graphics problems I've never had before with any previous version and I don't have with any of my other browsers.
Sometimes Firefox just scrambles the web pages on all of the tabs I have open. No other components of the Windows XP desktop have graphics problems when this happens and no other open applications seem to have graphics problems. It's just Firefox. Sometimes I can refresh the tab/page (F5) and it clears up the blotchy random graphics characters.
Does anyone know if there were changes to the graphics engine in version 29.0.1?
    Thanks!

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
Try to create a new Boolean pref on the about:config page via the right-click context menu with the name <b>layout.paint_rects_separately</b> and set the value to true and leave hardware acceleration enabled.
See comment 414 in bug 812695:

That way you still have the benefit from hardware acceleration, but may not suffer from rendering issues.

  • Difficult graphics problem with Snow Leopard

We have been trying to solve this at work with no luck so I decided to try the experts on these forums as a last resort.
Our school has iMacs connected to lcd projectors in classrooms and we use them to project the iMac screen contents on a large screen in the rooms for instruction.
Everything worked fine with Leopard 10.5.7.
Over the summer, they upgraded all of the iMacs to Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and now the projected images are very dark.
They are useless for showing anything beyond text. Photos or video clips are so dark that the students can't see them clearly.
The IT people have tried all sorts of solutions and updated all of the graphics drivers that they can find for Snow Leopard and for the various graphic cards in the iMacs.
If I switch my iMac running 10.6.4 with another one still running 10.5.7, the projected images go back to looking correct, so it's not a problem with the projectors.
We have tried all sorts of settings and different profiles on the 10.6.4 iMacs and nothing has worked.
The images projected remain very dark and harsh in contrast, as does the entire desktop and dock icons that are also part of the projections.
Can anyone please offer some advice on what may be going on and any possible solutions?
We are not really able to revert all of the machines back to 10.5.X anymore.
Thanks a lot for any advice.

Can't solve your issue, but I suggest that you report this issue to Apple's engineering and send a bug report via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering. They might even suggest a solution.

  • Having a graphics problem with PowerBook G4...

So I have a PowerBook G4 Aluminium 1.33 GHz and it seems to be having a problem with the computer's graphics. I haven't found any insight on this problem online. The PowerBook will start up and look fine, then as it gets warmer, the graphics start to do weird things. It's really hard to explain what it looks like at the height of the problem. It is certainly still a usable computer, but you get green dots and sometimes purple on the screen, and they move around when windows move around. It seems to react more to blues and greens, and also there's more in places like window shadows. Like I said though, only after it warms up. It takes about 5 minutes to be warm enough to start causing the problems. Are there any fixes? Help!

As video failures are commonly heat-related, you may wish to monitor your temps and fans. Get Temperature Monitor here:
    http://bresink.com/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html
It's free and puts a temp readout in your menubar for easy checking.
The DashBoard widget iStatPro, also monitors temps but I like the other program better. However, the widget will monitor fan performance on some PowerBooks:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/istatpro.html
Note that is may not detect fans on older PowerBooks. I have a 1gHz 17" and iPS doesn't see any fans.
I'm not sure of the safety cut-off range for the PowerBooks. I know my fans speed up when the temps read by Temperature Monitor reach the vicinity of 140°F.
If the widget detects your fans but never shows them speeding up, that could be causing your issues.

  • Graphic problem with Final cut pro X

    Hello
Since some days I have graphical problems, it seems it is related to final cut pro X (10.0.8), all other programms are running well.
When I import events to my project the graphic is ok:
After modification, example: here stabilization on, I have some colored pixels in the preview:
After this happens once, I found some colored pixel also in other programs or on the background picture.
I'm not sure if I have a problem with final cut or with the graphic card. When I use my iMac without final cut, I found no problems
Can anybody help me? Thank you

    Thank you for you answer.
I have 12 GB Memory and Final Cut Pro X was working properly until now.
The problem occure already at the preview windows, as soon as I close Final cut the graphic background looks good again.
I found that I have a similar problem also with iMovie, so I think it is maybe a hardware and not a software problem.
The hardware test does not show any problems, do you know another method to test the graphic card?

  • Graphics problems with MSI Twin Frozr II GTX460 768

    Hi,
My previous video card, a BFG 9800 GTX died, so I bought a GTX460 Twin Frozr II 768 and installed it a week ago.  (I also bought 2 more gb of RAM at the same time).  I'm now having several problems with the computer.  My DVD player is no longer recognized for some reason, maybe there's a conflict somewhere?  But the thing directly related to the video card is that whenever I enter a graphics-heavy game such as Dawn of War 2, it works for a few minutes, then everything freezes for about 5 seconds, after which there is massive graphics corruption.  Colors are often inverted to their negatives (blacks become white, for instance), writing is illegible and corrupted, etc.  One time after doing this the computer crashed with an error message stating the NV4 driver.dll had failed.  This happens nearly every time I try to play a game, but there are no apparent problems with web surfing, watching movies, or anything else.
I have searched the web and found many instances of this problem and I've tried many of the solutions, with no success:  I've reinstalled the latest drivers several times, doing clean installs each time.  I've used a Driver Cleaner, even tried doing a Windows System Restore.  I've gone in manually to see if there were duplicate NV4.dlls, which 1 place said is sometimes the problem, and there aren't.  I've run a registry cleaner and tune up program, which another person said fixed his problems, but it didn't help me.  I've even turned down the clock rate and speeds (underclocked from factory settings) the video card by a significant amount, and that didn't help.
Does anyone have any suggestions?  Do you think it's a hardware problem with the new video card?  If so, should I RMA it to the online retailer I bought it from or MSI directly?  I hate to lose use of my computer again while it is mailed to them and another card is mailed back, though.  I'm not even sure if the card is the problem...

  • HELP -- graphic problem with my MacBook Air

Hi, I have a graphic glitch on my 13' MacBook Air 2012 base model (1.8Ghz i5 Ivy Bridge, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, Intel HD 4000)
As you can see from the screenshots below, I have a jagged lines and imperfect rendering of images.
In image 1, you can see that there is a visible line under the iPhone and the shadow looks so weird.
In image 2, you can see that the icons are jagged and the colour gradients don't really blend in.
In image 3, you can see that the colour gradients are not normal.
In image 4, more jagged images can be seen.
I've tried to play some games too (Evoland, Trine 2) and apparently this problem occurs too, that the image quality seems so poor (pixelated lines). However, icons and images on my desktop and launchpad and everything look just fine. It's just images in games and App Store as well as browsers that appear so glitchy.
I've tried to open the Internet using Chrome and Safari, on OS X and Windows using Parallels, and both result in the same poor quality of image.
Does anyone know why I have this problem? I'm on Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and everything was perfectly fine before, I just noticed this problem recently.
I've tried to diagnose the hardware by pressing and holding D in the startup screen but it said there was no problem with my hardware.
It would be appreciated if you guys could help me find out what's the problem with my laptop. Thank you!
Any additional info, please ask. Thank you and hope you guys can help me.
P.S.: I'm currently in Indonesia, and will be soon moving to NZ, and there's no Apple Store in both countries so bringing my MBA to the Geniuses is out of option.

Ever since I updated to Lion, I get some display problems with my second monitor (a Samsung LED XL2370).
Single windows appear darker and with bad graphics, especially when dragging from the normal monitor to the external one or openign them..
And after 'waking' my MacBook from sleep today, the background image of the normal display was missing. It was just a grey screen, but perfectly functional. And nothing changed when I checked the display settings and tried changing the background.
    Any ideas??
A screenshot with both problems in it.. Acrobat Reader was sitting between two monitors, the right display is the external one

After 10.7.3 i was optimistic apple finally fixed the bug....but it seems that they were not successfull or just didn't care....
I'm seriusly really sour about the rapidly decreasing quality apple delivers.....thinking more and more about switching back to linux again....
