GRC AC 5.3 on server with 2gb of RAM

Our client has very limited hardware resources until new servers arrive in a couple of months, and even though every SAP document I have found says that the minimum memory requirement is 4gb, we have gone ahead and installed it on a machine with 2gb for our development environment.
We are implementing Compliance Callibrator and Role Expert at the same time.
Should the system run slow, or will we encounter major problems and not be able to run any heavy background job such as uploads or risk analysis?
Any document with information regarding this I can show my client would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your responses. We have been getting Time outs when running some background jobs as part of our post-installation tasks. The error we get reads as follows:
Error in Rule Generation! Reason:ResourceException in method ConnectionFactoryImpl.getConnection():
com.sap.engine.services.connector.exceptions.BaseResourceException: Cannot get connection for 120 seconds.
Possible reasons:
1) Connections are cached within SystemThread(can be any server service or any code invoked within SystemThread in the SAP J2EE Engine),
2) The pool size of adapter "SAPSR3DB" is not enough according to the current load of the system or
3) The specified time to wait for connection is not enough according to the pool size and current load of the system.
In case 1) the solution is to check for cached connections using the Connector Service list-conns command,
in case 2) to increase the size of the pool and
in case 3) to increase the time to wait for connection property. In case of application thread,
there is an automatic mechanism which detects unclosed connections and unfinished transactions.
We are trying to get people from Basis to look at this since we have no access to the actual server and Netweaver / Database configuration.
Besides this error, every now and then the URLs stop responding so we can not access RAR, ERM, or Netweaver. A couple of times it came back by itself, but lately we´ve had to have the server rebooted. Any idea why this would be happening?
Do you know of a way to ensure the jobs run successfully. We do not mind if they take twice as long or however long to finish, as long as they end successfully.
Regards,
Federico

  • I bought this MacBook Pro 15.4" 1.83 GHz MA463LL/A with 2gb of RAM for real cheap on eBay because I'm poor and can't afford a new MACBOOK PRO and was wondering what everyone thinks about these laptops and what can and should I upgrade when I get money?

I bought this older MACBOOK PRO 15.4" 1.83 GHz with 2gb of RAM and Leopard 10.5 on eBay for real cheap because I don't have the money to buy a new one like I would like to  do, and it comes with a disk to upgrade the OS to 10.6 and I was wondering what all I can and should upgrade (short of the whole computer) as I have the money to do so? Or did I just get really hosed?

You have the original Core Duo model. 2 GBs is the most RAM you can install, so the only thing you could upgrade would be the hard drive. Doing so is not a trivial task but you can find suitable hard drives and installation tutorials at OWC.
Since yours is a Core Duo model you can upgrade OS X to Snow Leopard, but not to Lion which requires a Core 2 Duo or better.

  • Slow performance even with 2GB of RAM

I am a long time Windows user and last week I finally made the switch. I had been contemplating making the switch over to a Mac ever since the Macbook Pros came out but they were a little out of my price range. Needless to say when the Macbooks came out I was sold. I bought a white 2.0 GHz Macbook. I noticed that it was a little sluggish when I ran several programs (i.e. Safari, iTunes, Mail, etc). According to several posts I have read this is to be expected with only 512MB of RAM. However, I recently upgraded to 2GB of RAM (2x1GB Patriot SO-DIMM DDR2 PC-5300). I have read several posts that say that with 2GB of RAM the system "just flies" or "cuts through programs like butter". I didnt really notice the speed boost that I was expecting. I was expecting programs to open right when I click on the icon but it still lags a little. Is there something else I need to do after I install the RAM? Is seems as though with a 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo and 2GB of RAM I should see a substantial boost in speed. I think my 2GB of RAM is fine. The system profiler registers the new RAM at 667 MHz and everything seems to be ok. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm getting the same thing, and I don't think it's the RAM, since I've already tried 2 different brands, one was a knockoff Samsung from eBay and another is authentic Samsung, from eBay, so still could be knockoff.
However, I mostly run Windows on my MacBook and notice no slowdowns, but when I boot into OSX, it is almost unusable, even the dashboard stutters into view. I checked out the System Analyzer and found no programs hogging up resources, and iStat nano reports 1.5GB RAM free!
So I don't get it, Apple's hardware test shows no problems, one of these nights I'm going to run Memtest for OSX to see if anything shows...
If I put my original Hynix 512MB memory back in, the sluggishness is gone, but it still runs like a machine with a low amount of memory.
Someone suggested creating a new account, so I am going to try that tonight. I sort of want to reload OSX, but would hate to go through all of that work if it's not gonna help.
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Problem with 2gb Corsair ram on MSI Diamond plus mobo

    Ok first of all,the specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ "Manchester"
MSI MS-7100 K8N Diamond Plus, nVidia nForce4 SLI
    MSI GeForce NX7900GTX-T2D512E
    2048 MB DDR-RAM, 400MHz - (TWINX1024-3200C2PRO) Corsair TwinX CL2
    ( 4 pieces at 512mb ram)
    Plextor PX-755SA/T3K DualLayer / 16x DVD+/-RW
    HDD: Maxtor DiamondMax 10 (6V200E0) 200 GB SerialATA-II / 7200rpm
running on win xp prof. sp2
with newest version of mobo bios and drivers.
The thing is, if i stick all the for ram pieces into the pc, it tends to crash down after a while or during the booting with PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA as error msg.
but if i take two pieces out and run all with 1 gb no problems occour. This is starting to really annoy me, so i'm hoping someone has the know how to help me out, i'd really appriciate any suggestions or or solutions, i just want to run my system with 2gb of ram

run memtest on the system and tell us if you get any errors. it is probably a bad configuration of the memory timings and voltages. try to get the timings and voltages from the manufacturer's web page and then set up manually in bios.

  • ATTN: Guys with 2GB of RAM

I was considering upgrading my RAM from 2x512 to 2x1024.  I would get the PDP 2-3-2-5 RAM, about $270 from ZipZoomFly.
My question is: For those of you who upgraded, did you notice a performance increase? If so, what was it?  What type of activities, etc..
    Thanks~

1 GB runs most of my programs fine and will be the sweet spot for most. With 2GB I can run a lot more with out a lot of file swaping 2 disk. It a lot smoother for task switching with 2GB, running:
BFME (game) and its editor (uses upto: "Commit charge:  1.5GB" +)
    Playing MP3.
    Browsing web.
    MSN/Yahoo IM.
    Downloading.
    etc
As for games I don't see a big change 1GB VS 2GB, no where near as good as 512 vs 1GB. Running a lot of apps or memory hogs will benefit from the extra 1GB
    You mite have a problem running 4X512 @ 400 and it will be T2. 2X1024 should be 400 @ T1. Mine runs @ 166 or 180 but locks up @ 200. So I play around with setting when O/C'ing, 2X512 runs fine @ 225 (with my ram)
I got 2 GB because of the price (ram was cheap £35 per 512) and just thinking about the future as I hope this rig last me 2-3 years for gaming before the the games can run smooth. Even @ low to mid setting. Yep you can replace the GFX but @ that point will the system be the bottle neck? Mite as well replace what you can.
    1GB good (for most)
    2GB better (for a few)

  • Extremely slow imaging on HP DC7700 with 2GB of RAM

    Hi
Hope you can help. I've got a dozen new HP DC7700's that we are
attempting to image with Zenworks 6.5 SP2 Hotpatch 4. We have about 20
different types of workstation in this environment and all of these
workstations image in approximately 6-8 minutes.
When we first received the HP DC7700 I had to make some mods to our
environment as discussed in the following topic ...
    http://groups.google.com.au/group/no...bac07299d56ecd
.... and finally got the HP DC7700 (with 1GB of RAM) imaging (with
exactly the same image and similar size driver package) in 15 minutes
(i.e. about double our normal imaging time). Put that on the things to
do list to find out why the imaging time doubled but we could live with
    that.
Then the other day we got some HP DC7700's delivered with 4 x 512MB
sticks of RAM and started the imaging process. Now it's ground to a
halt. It's taking approximately 3 hours to image the workstation. So
now I have to find a solution.
I've tested to make sure it's not a problem with the additional 1GB of
RAM by removing all the RAM and using the additional 1GB RAM as the
only RAM in the workstation. The workstation imaged in about 15 mins as
before. Put 2GB in the workstation and imaging slows down to a crawl
    again.
Does anyone have any idea what is going wrong and where I should start
to look to fix the problem?
I am aware of the release of Zen 6.5 SP2 IR1 but would prefer not to
upgrade at this stage as we've just got everything working so well here
that I'd like to get some mileage out of it before upgrading and
    possibly introducing some new issues.
    Many thanks
    Craig

I guess trying that as fast as possible is your only chance.. there will
only be ONE final patch for 6.5 and this is already in beta. If the problem
is really the ram and it could be fixed easily you have a slight chance
that this could move into the latest patch. Otherwise you will have to live
with it if there is no other workaround

We have gotten it running on two RH6 machines. Took a little
    extra work.
    Briefly...
    * Make sure you use the latest JRE, and try using the one
with native threads (if not you will have to hand edit the
netasst script and remove the -native flag)
    * For some reason some of the libs that get installed are
zero length. Find the thread on this forum where someone posted
some sample code to recreate these. If I remember right its the
libjni library. It is a very short easy compile.
    * Make sure you got lots of RAM (128 min) and double that in
    swap
    * Watch for binaries that get installed without the execute
bit set. For instance I think tnslsnr is one of them, as well as
SQLPlus. I can't remember exactly, but that's one other problem
    to watch out for.
So far things here are working. I even tried a little java in a
stored procedure. My latest issue is trying to get the PROC
    samples to compile.

  • Windows 7 only booting with 2GB of ram instead of 8.

I used Bootcamp (newest version) to install Windows 7 Ultimate on my partitioned hard drive on my Mac Mini. The computer has 8GB of RAM, but when I open the Task Manager in Windows, I can only see that 2BG of RAM is being used. How can I get it so that I can use all 8GB of RAM on Windows 7? Is there any possibility that I could do it without having to reinstall Windows?
I can see that the task manager sees that 8GB are installed, but it also says that there is 2GB total. The OS is only being run with the 2GB and not the 8 that are being detected.
All I would like to know is how I can get Windows 7 to use all 8GB of RAM. I did install the x86 version.
    Thannk you.

I just checked an I am only running the 32 bit. This is clearly the issue. Alright. This will probably solve it. Thanks.

  • A simple file server with Arch Linux?

    Hello everyone.
I had a lucky day to day and was given an old Pentium III based server with 512MB of RAM. I want to set up a server for my house that can basically act as NAS (network attached storage) and stream files to other members of the family's machines. I also want to install rTorrent and be able to download multimedia on to the server. I also wish to be able to access the server from a Windows machine as I would prefer if the server could be headless (no monitor or keyboard/mouse) after the initial installation of ArchLinux.
Could someone explain how I might go about performing these tasks? I have never used Linux before (other than Ubuntu for web browsing). I am of course comfortable with installing the OS but not sure about how I would set it up like I want.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to reading your response.

You can use samba to share the files between the computers (this will work with Windows as well as Linux and Mac OS X).
As for rTorrent, you can install rTorrent and run it via ssh. However I would recommend deluge. There is a server daemon which you would run on the server. And then a client which you can run on a linux machine (there might even a be a windows version).
To use a headless server you need (well you don't need, but it is very helpful) to setup ssh. I am not sure what you mean by stream files to other members of the family's machines (share files)?
Also if you are not all that familiar with linux, be prepared to do some serious reading or maybe look at using something like ubuntu (but you will still have to read). Using arch would be a great way to learn linux more than what you have with ubuntu.

  • Will leopard work with the current 2.16ghz mac book with 2gb ram?

hey just a quick question new to the whole mac thing and was just wanting to know will i be able to upgrade to leopard on my white mac book 2.16ghz with 2gb of ram and 120 gb harddrive?
    will it run smoothly?
    thanks simon

The terms of use actually says:
"Speculations or rumors about unannounced products."
I would take that to mean questions and speculation about products which have been announced would be okay. Stuff like "Do you think Leopard will be able to do this or that" would seem to be okay.
I think Apple's intent is to keep speculation and/or rumors about products which may not even exist to a minimum.
Granted, no one, apart from developers under a NDA, have experience with Leopard... and even they don't know what the "secret" features are... but I think we're okay chatting about that stuff. They have a major OS overhaul coming in just a few months. I can't imagine they wouldn't expect people to chat about it... beyond what they have posted.

  • Removing Apps from OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard to make it faster with 2GB

    Hi Everybody,
I have a MacMini 1.1 that happes to have a limitation of memory of 2GB. It is siting as a Set Top Box for our TV.
I am going to upgrade from Tiguer to Snow Leopard. I know I am going to have a performance problem because of Snow Leopard using most of this memory and therefore swapping to VM. It happened to our MacBook.
Yet, as it is only going to be used as a Set Top Box, I thought I could tweek the OS to use as little memory as possible.
    I have two ideas:
    a) Remove all widgets from dashboard (I know they reside at memory and we dont need them).
    b) Remove Mail.app (I imagine it must reside too at memory, or at least some daemon of it, as it must look for mail every now and then).
Is there any other thing I could uninstall/unset so the use of memory of the system reduces to the minimum?
Came on! Enlighten me with your knowledge!!

10.6 with a full boat of App's and Games runs great on our Early Core Duo with 2GB of RAM. The grandkids and guests use for surfing, iPhoto and games, plus it has 30+GB of photos and a 100+GB of music for all to enjoy. One key thing that I did do, was upgraded it to a larger Hard Drive several years ago.
As mentioned by others, you will want to launch very little or no App's at Startup and keep an eye on how many App's are running at the same time to keep from bogging it down.
If it still has the original 5400rpm 80GB Hard Drive, the best improvement would be to upgrade it to a larger and faster 7200rpm Hard Drive.
