Group and display XML Data

Hi,
I am building a Dynamic form with below XML to be displayed in tabular format grouped by resultType with comma separated resultDesc.
<resultTypeParent>
     <resultInfo>
          <resultType>ACP</resultType>
          <resultDesc>Policy</resultDesc>
     </resultInfo>
     <resultInfo>
          <resultType>ACP</resultType>
          <resultDesc>Compliance</resultDesc>
     </resultInfo>
     <resultInfo>
          <resultType>ACP</resultType>
          <resultDesc>Operations</resultDesc>
     </resultInfo>
     <resultInfo>
          <resultType>ACP</resultType>
          <resultDesc>Frameworks</resultDesc>
     </resultInfo>
     <resultInfo>
          <resultType>FKE</resultType>
          <resultDesc>Data</resultDesc>
     </resultInfo>
</resultTypeParent>
The output should look like,
ACP                                             FKE
Policy, Compliance,                       Data
Operations, Frameworks
Can someone help me with a solution/ideas?
Thank you,
Sandeep

You can try converting the blob object first to a string and then displaying it in the Output text field. You can refer to
How to Convert  Blob to String ? Hi All,
for converting a blob to string. It many not be a very good idea if the size of the blob very large.
Thanks,
TK

  • Receiving and displaying XML data via HTTPService

    Hi folks. I am a pretty experienced database programmer, I
    work with a software called Magic eDev, but I'm a complete newby in
    Flex.
    I am trying to use Flex 3 to create a web / client interface
    for an application written in Magic eDev. I've made a very simple
    Flex App to read an XML file generated by another application
    written in the third party software (Magic eDev 9.4) via
    HTTPService. I think I have the HTTPService request part figured
    out, This little Application does not cause any errors in Flex.
    However, I am not seeing my data in the display. If I manually try
    the URL query to the Magic App, I do get the XML file with the data
    in it, but Flex doesn't seem to see anything.
    I just want to get two fields via the HTTPService data and
    display them, but I'm not getting any result. I can't even tell if
    Flex is actually querying Magic or not. Can anyone explain what I'm
    doing wrong?
    Also, is there some way to monitor what the Flex app is doing
    when you run it, as you can in some other systems?
    Here is my code:

  • Problem inserting and querying XML data with a recursive XML schema

    Hello,
    I'm facing a problem with querying XML data that is valid against a recursive XML Schema. I have got a table category that stores data as binary XML using Oracle 11g Rel 2 on Windows XP. The XML Schema is the following:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <xs:complexType name="bold_type" mixed="true">

                   <xs:element name="bold" type="bold_type"/>
                   <xs:element name="keyword" type="keyword_type"/>
                   <xs:element name="emph" type="emph_type"/>
              </xs:choice>
         </xs:complexType>
         <xs:complexType name="keyword_type" mixed="true">
              <xs:choice minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded">
                   <xs:element name="bold" type="bold_type"/>
                   <xs:element name="keyword" type="keyword_type"/>

                   <xs:element name="plain_text" type="xs:string"/>

         <xs:complexType name="emph_type" mixed="true">

         <xs:element name="category">

                                            </xs:complexType>
                        </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>I registered this schema and created the category table. Then I inserted a new row using the code below:
    insert into category_a values
    (XMlElement("category",
          xmlattributes('categoryAAA' as "id"),
          xmlforest ('ma categ' as "name"),
          (xmlelement("description", (xmlelement("text", 'find doors blest now whiles favours carriage tailor spacious senses defect threat ope willow please exeunt truest assembly <keyword> staring travels balthasar parts attach enshelter two <emph> inconsiderate ways preventions </emph> preventions clasps better affections comes perish </keyword> lucretia permit street full meddle yond general nature whipp <emph> lowness </emph> grievous pedro')))
    The row is successfully inserted as witnessed by the results of row counting. However, I cannot extract data from the table. First, I tried using SqlPlus* which hangs up and quits after a while. I then tried to use SQL Developer, but haven't got any result. Here follow some examples of queries and their results in SQL Developer:
    Query 1
    select * from category
    Result : the whole row is returned
    Query 2
    select xmlquery('$p/category/description' passing object_value as "p" returning content) from category
    Result: "SYS.XMLTYPE"
    now I tried to fully respect the nested structure of description element in order to extract the text portion of using this query
    Query 3
    select  xmlquery('$p/category/description/text/keyword/bold/text()' passing object_value as "p" returning content) from  category_a
    Result: null
    and also tried to extract the text portion of element <text> using this query
    Query 4
    select  xmlquery('$p/category/description/text/text()' passing object_value as "p" returning content) from  category_a
    Result: "SYS.XMLTYPE".
    On the other hand, I noticed, from the result of query 1, that the opening tags of elements keyword and bold are encoded as the less than operator "&lt;". This explains why query 3 returns NULL. However, query 4 should display the text content of <text>, which is not the case.
    My questions are about
    1. How to properly insert the XML data while preserving the tags (especially the opening tag).
    2. How to display the data (the text portion of the main Element or of the nested elements).
    The problem about question 1 is that it is quite unfeasible to write a unique insert statement because the structure of <description> is recursive. In other words, if the structure of <description> was not recursive, it would be possible to embed the elements using the xmlelement function during the insertion.
    In fact, I need to insert the content of <description> from a source table (called category_a) into a target table (+category_b+) automatically .
    I filled category_a using the Saxloader utility from an flat XML file that I have generated from a benchmark. The content of <description> is different from one row to another but it is always valid with regards to the XML Schema. The data is properly inserted as witnessed by the "select * from category_a" instruction (500 row inserted). Besides, the opening tags of the nested elements under <description> are preserved (no "&lt;"). Then I wrote a PL/SQL procedure in which a cursor extracts the category id and category name into varchar2 variables and description into an XMLtype variable from category_a. When I try to insert the values into a category_b, I get the follwing error:
    LSX-00213: only 0 occurrences of particle "text", minimum is 1which tells that the <text> element is absent (actually it is present in the source table).
    So, my third question is why are not the tags recognized during the insertion?
    Can anyone help please?

    Hello,
    indded, I was using an old version of Sqlplus* (8.0.60.0.0) because I had a previous installation (oracle 10g XE). Instead, I used the Sqlplus* shipped with the 11g2database (version 11.2.0.1.0). All the queries that I wrote work fine and display the data correctly.
    I also used the XMLSERIALIZE function and can now display the description content in SQL Developer.
    Thank you very much.
    To answer your question Marco, I registered the XML Schema using the following code
    declare
      doc varchar2(4000) := '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">

    begin
      dbms_xmlschema.registerSchema('/xmldb/category_auction.xsd', doc,     LOCAL      => FALSE,
            GENTYPES   => FALSE,  GENBEAN    => FALSE,   GENTABLES  => FALSE,
             FORCE      => FALSE,
             OPTIONS    => DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.REGISTER_BINARYXML,
             OWNER      => USER);
    end;then, I created the Category table as follows:
    CREATE TABLE category_a of XMLType XMLTYPE store AS BINARY XML
        XMLSCHEMA "xmldb/category_auction.xsd" ELEMENT "category";Now, there still remains a problem of how to insert the "description" content which I serialized as a CLOB data into another table as XML. To this purpose, I wrote a view over the Category_a table as follows:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW "AUCTION_XWH"."CATEGORY_V" ("CATEGORY_ID", "CNAME", "DESCRIPTION") AS
      select category_v."CATEGORY_ID",category_v."CNAME",
      XMLSerialize(content ( xmlquery('$p/category/description/*' passing object_value as "p" returning content)) as clob) as "DESCRIPTION"
      from  auction.category_a p,
    xmltable ('$a/category' passing p.Object_Value as "a"
    columns  category_id varchar2(15) path '@id',
              cname varchar2(20) path 'name') category_v;Then, I wrote a procedure to insert data into the Category_xwh table (the source and target tables are slightly different: the common elements are just copied wereas new elements are created in the target table). The code of the procedure is the following:
    create or replace PROCEDURE I_CATEGORY AS
    v_cname VARCHAR2(30);
    v_description clob ;
    v_category_id VARCHAR2(15);
    cursor mycursor is select category_id, cname, description from category_v;
    BEGIN
    open mycursor;
      loop
      /*retrieving the columns*/
      fetch mycursor into v_category_id, v_cname, v_description ;
      exit when mycursor%notfound;
      insert into category_xwh values
      (XMlElement("category",
          xmlattributes(v_category_id as "category_id"),
          xmlelement("Hierarchies", xmlelement("ObjHierarchy", xmlelement ("H_Cat"),
                                                               xmlelement ("Rollsup",
                                                                                  (xmlelement("all_categories",
                                                                                   xmlattributes('allcategories' as "all_category_id")))
        xmlforest (
                  v_cname as "cat_name",
                  v_description as "description")
    end loop;
      commit;
      close mycursor;
    END I_CATEGORY;When I execute the procedure, I get the following error:
    LSX-00201: contents of "description" should be elements onlyso, I just wonder if this is because v_description is considered as plain text and not as XML text, even if its content is XML. Do I need to use a special function to cast the CLOB as XML?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Does Aperture read and display XMP data generated by LR?

    Does anyone know if Aperture reads and displays XMP data generated by LR? I am not interested particularly in keywords.

    Thanks for the quick reply, William.
    I would suggest to David Schloss and AUPN that this would be a feature worth supporting. Although, hopefully both new software and improving skills in using them make me less concerned about preserving a static conversion or interpretation of an image, I think that whatever software we use to read/exchange keywords and other IPTC data is a constant.

    You need to pass your filename String as a parameter to your functionality. It depends how you're currently set up though. We can't really see the top of your call so it's difficult to determine what you are calling and we don't really know from where you're calling either.
    If you're running standalone, then on launch of the application, you can feed in a file name as an argument that you can read in in String args[] in the main function and pass down to your XML splitter.
    If you're a method in a class that's part of a bigger pile, you can feed the file name as a String to the method from wherever you call from if it makes sense architecturally.
    You might also want to pass down a File object if that makes sense in your current code (i.e. if you're using your file for other purposes prior to the split, to avoid recreating closing/opening for no reason).
    Depends what you're trying to do. If I put together a piece like this, I would probably create an <yourcurrentrootpackage>.xml.splitter package.
    Also, on a side note, you're problem isn't really reading and writing XML in java, but seems more to be making your functionality generic so that any XML file can be split with your code.

  • Code to read xml file  and display that data using sax parser

    Hai
    My problem I have to read a xml file and display the contents of the file on console using sax parser.

    here you go

  • DataGrid does not display XML data

    Hello, and thanks for reading this...
    I am having a problem displaying XMLList data in a DataGrid.
    The data is coming from a Tree control, which is receiving it
    from a database using HTTPService.
    The data is a list of "Job Orders" from a MySQL database,
    being formatted as XML by a PHP page.
    If it would be helpful to see the actual XML, a sample is
    here:
    http://www.anaheimwib.com/_login/get_all_orders_test2.php
    All is going well until I get to the DataGrid, which doesn't
    display the data, although I know it is there as I can see it in
    debug mode. I've checked the dataField property of the appropriate
    DataGrid column, and it appears correct.
    Following is a summary of the relevant code.
    ...An HTTPService named "get_all_job_orders" retrieves
    records from a MySQL database via PHP...
    ...Results are formatted as E4X:
    HTTPService resultFormat="e4x"
    ...An XMLListCollection's source property is set to the
    returned E4X XML results:
    ...The "order" node is what is being used as the top-level of
    the XML data.
    <mx:XMLListCollection id="jobOrdersReviewXMLList"
    source="{get_all_job_orders.lastResult.order}"/>
    ...The "jobOrdersReviewXMLList" collection is assigned to be
    the dataProvider property of a Tree list, using the @name syntax to
    display the nodes correctly, and a change event function is defined
    to add the records to a DataGrid on a separate Component for
    viewing the XML records:
    <mx:Tree dataProvider="{jobOrdersReviewXMLList}"
    labelField="@name"
    change="jobPosForm.addTreePositionsToDG(event)"/>
    ...Here is the relevant "jobPosForm" code (the Job Positions
    Form, a separate Component based on a Form) :
    ...A variable is declared:
    [Bindable]
    public var positionsArray:XMLList;
    ...The variable is initialized on CreationComplete event of
    the Form:
    positionsArray = new XMLList;
    ...The Tree's change event function is defined within the
    "jobPosForm" Component.
    ...Clicking on a Tree node fires the Change event.
    ...This passes an event object to the function.
    ...This event object contains the XML from the selected Tree
    node.
    ...The Tree node's XML data is passed into the positionsArray
    XMLList.
    ...This array is the dataProvider for the DataGrid, as you
    will see in the following block.
    public function addTreePositionsToDG(event:Event):void{
    this.positionsArray = selectedNode.positions.position;
    ...A datagrid has its dataProvider is bound to
    positionsArray.
    ...(I will only show one column defined here for brevity.)
    ...This column has its dataField property set to "POS_TITLE",
    a field in the returned XML record:
    <mx:DataGrid width="100%" variableRowHeight="true"
    height="75%" id="dgPositions"
    dataProvider="{positionsArray}" editable="false">
    <mx:columns>
    <mx:DataGridColumn width="25" headerText="Position Title"
    dataField="POS_TITLE"/>
    </mx:columns>
    </mx:DataGrid>
    In debug mode, I can examine the datagrid's dataProvider
    property, and see that the correct XML data from the Tree control
    is present. However, The datagrid does not display the data in any
    of its 6 columns.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello again,
    I came up with a method of populating the DataGrid from the
    selected Item of a Tree Control which displays complex XML data and
    XML attributes. After the user clicks on a Tree branch, I call this
    function:
    public function addTreePositionsToDG(event:Event):void{
    //Retrieve all "position" nodes from tree.
    //Loop thru each Position.
    //Add Position data to the positionsArray Array Collection.
    //The DataGrid dataprovider is bound to this array, and will
    be updated.
    positionsArray = new ArrayCollection();
    var selectedNode:Object=event.target.selectedItem;//Contains
    entire branch.
    for each (var position:XML in
    selectedNode.positions.position){
    var posArray:Array = new Array();
    posArray.PK_POSITIONID = position.@PK_POSITIONID;
    posArray.FK_ORDERID = position.@FK_ORDERID;
    posArray.POS_TITLE = position.@POS_TITLE;
    posArray.NUM_YOUTH = position.@NUM_YOUTH;
    posArray.AGE_1617 = position.@AGE_1617;
    posArray.AGE_1821 = position.@AGE_1821;
    posArray.HOURS_WK = position.@HOURS_WK;
    posArray.WAGE_RANGE_FROM = position.@WAGE_RANGE_FROM;
    posArray.WAGE_RANGE_TO = position.@WAGE_RANGE_TO;
    posArray.JOB_DESCR = position.@JOB_DESCR;
    posArray.DES_SKILLS = position.@DES_SKILLS;
    positionsArray.addItem(posArray);
    So, I just had to manually go through the selected Tree node,
    copy each XML attribute into a simple Array, then ADD this Array to
    an ArrayCollection being used as the DataProvider for the DataGrid.
    It's not elegant, but it works and I don't have to use a Label
    Function, which was getting way too complicated. I still think that
    Flex should have an easier way of doing this. There probably is an
    easier way, but the Flex documentation doesn't provide an easy path
    to it.
    I want to thank you, Tracy, for the all the help. I checked
    out the examples you have at www.cflex.net and they are very
    helpful. I bookmarked the site and will be using it as a resource
    from now on.

  • How to store ,retrieve and display the data in the structured format?

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement in which we need to store a information of type some thing like as below:
    "The PCM_OP_SEARCH opcode fails for the below search used in invoicing module:
    0 PIN_FLD_POID           POID [0] 0.0.0.1 /search -1 0
    0 PIN_FLD_FLAGS           INT [0] 728
    0 PIN_FLD_TEMPLATE        STR [0] " select sum( 1.F8 ), 1.F9 from /event 1, /item 2 where (2.F1 = V1 and  2.F5 >= V5 and 2.F6 < V6 and 2.F2 = V2) and 2.F3 = 1.F4 and  1.F7 like V7 group by 1.F9 "
    0 PIN_FLD_ARGS          ARRAY [1] allocated 20, used 1
    1     PIN_FLD_AR_BILLINFO_OBJ   POID [0] 0.0.0.1 /billinfo 10773245 3
    0 PIN_FLD_ARGS          ARRAY [2] allocated 20, used 1
    1     PIN_FLD_BILL_OBJ       POID [0] 0.0.0.0  0 0
    0 PIN_FLD_ARGS          ARRAY [3] allocated 20, used 1"
    I understand that we can store this as a Blob or Bfile format.But I need to retrieve the data and display it on the GUI in the same format.
    Can anyone please suggest me how can I achieve the same in APEX?
    Thank you for your time !!
    Regards,
    Shan

    And what would be wrong with putting this into a plain old table with columns, on which you could then create a form+report?

  • Display XML data bottom up

    I have a php form that when processed, opens an existing xml
    file and writes to the end of it:
    <code>
    $file_handle = fopen('products.xml','a');
    $content=(
    <new product>
    <date>{$_POST['date']}</date>
    <name>{$_POST['name']}</name>
    <price>{$_POST['price']}</price>
    </new product>
    fwrite($file_handle,$content);
    fclose($file_handle);
    </code>
    Each week, a new date (formatted as mm/dd/yyyy), product and
    price is added to this master xml list. The list is large and
    contains a weekly input for date, product name and price going back
    to 2004. To display the master list on the web, I am using a Spry
    Data table with the sort function enabled:
    <code>
    var products = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("products.xml",
    "/products/newproduct");
    products.setColumnType("date", "name", "price");
    function DoSort()
    products.sort(["date", "name", "price"], "toggle");
    -->
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <h3>Display and Sort All Products</h3>
    <div spry:region="products">
    <table>
    <tr>
    <th spry:sort="date">Date</th>
    <th spry:sort="name">Product Name</th>
    <th spry:sort="price">Price</th>
    </tr>
    <tr spry:repeat="products">
    <td>{date}</td>
    <td>{name}</td>
    <td>{price}</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </div>
    </code>
    Everything works perfectly, except that by default, the xml
    data is being displayed "top-down" so that the first item is in
    2004, with the last item being the current weekly input for 2008. I
    would like the table (by defuault or on load) to display the xml
    data "bottom-up" so that the most recent input is always at the
    top.
    Can someone please help me figure out how to do this? I have
    looked for the answer everywhere, but can't seem to find a
    solution.

    A other thing u could do is sort the region on postLoad the
    first time..
    First create a global variable something like:
    var productsLoaded = false;
    than add a observer to your dataset..
    products.addObserver({onPostLoad:function(){
    if(!productsLoaded){
    productsLoaded = true;
    DoSort();
    so.. total code:
    var products = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("products.xml",
    "/products/newproduct");
    var productsLoaded = false;
    products.setColumnType("date", "name", "price");
    function DoSort()
    products.sort(["date", "name", "price"], "toggle");
    products.addObserver({onPostLoad:function(){
    if(!productsLoaded){
    productsLoaded = true;
    DoSort();
    }});

  • How to Display XML data on a Window within my JDev App?

    I want to display some XML data stored on the database (in a CLOB field) in such a way that the XML tags and values are colored/highlighted as if they were read in a browser like Internet Explorer.
    Currently I am displaying the data using a JEditorPane field and the results are hard to read as the tags and values show on the same color and in plain text.
    I want to dispay this within my application (9i), not going to an external browser; i.e. I want the window (panel) to act as a browser when displaying the data.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    You can use utl_http in the database to call the webservice and display the result in a form item.
    Example:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/9i/ConsumingWebServices9i.php

  • FSG schema and load xml data fails

    I want to start using xml publisher to make the FSG reports look better. Whilst Oracle provides a basic template, it doesn't allow very much control over the data.
    How do I create a xml data file and schema so that I can create a new rtf template.
    I tried loading the xml output of the FSG request but Word complained that "Invalid at top level of document Source authentication failed"

    Just found Note:297280.1 on Metalink where there is a template that can be downloaded that has all the FSG columns seperate allowing
    Reorder how the columns are displayed.
    · Add additional columns to display in your published report.
    · Add background colors to the individual column headers or data regions.
    · Change the font characteristics of each individual column.
