Grouping and limiting in XLR

I need help in understanding the following:
I created an XLR definition which is grouped by ItemCode and this gives me a total consumption by Item. However when I try to limit the report (say for ItemCode=MRH001) to just one Item, I seem to be running into difficulties. So my question is at what level do I limit the ItemCode:
a. At Header level it did not work
b. At Row level it did not work
c. At Column level on the Item Group Column, it did not work
any thoughts on this please

Have you tries using the Composer to create this report Robert? Once you have the data you need, you can save it and see what the syntax is in the Designer.
This is a good way to work when you are starting out with reports, as you can get it working, then see why it works.

    Unicast clustering uses TCP/IP sockets to pass cluster messages between members. To avoid requiring each cluster member
    to have connectivity to every other cluster member, WebLogic Server uses a group leader strategy whereby the oldest member
    of the group (in other words, the server that was started first) is designated the group leader. All members of the cluster
    connect to the group leader so that the group leader acts as the relay point for cluster messages between members.
    If the group leader goes down, the next oldest member becomes the new group leader.
    As you can imagine, the group leader strategy works well for small groups but becomes less efficient as the number of members
    of the group grows large. As such, WebLogic Server uses a multiple group leader strategy where it limits the number of members
    in a group to 10. If the cluster is larger than 10 members, WebLogic Server splits into two or more groups, each with their own
    group leader. The group leaders themselves are all interconnected to minimize the number of hops that a cluster message must
    traverse to reach all cluster members.

    OLAP can handle both types of hierarchies. No performance advantage using one over the other (while loading cube or querying).
    If you are "pushing" dimensional-security inside OLAP, in that case also it does not matter.
    Cube-based MVs (with query-rewrite) can only be created if the hierarchies are level-based. Are you going to need that?
    Generally there are other "non-olap" factors:
    (#1). Which reporting tool will be used. Does it provide better reporting capabilities if the source is parent-child or level-based?
    (#2). Are there any reporting requirements that will need "level" information when selecting data.
    (#3). Are there are any security requirements that will be handled in "reporting-layer" which will need level-based information.
    Although in case of (#1) and (#2), you can "expose" an olap's parent-child hierarchy as "level-based" hierarchy to the reporting tool using internal GID (grouping-id) information.
    OBIEE 11.1.1.5 (and future versions) works well with OLAP metadata, and with any type of hierarchy in olap.
    For other reporting tools, you have to see what features are available.
    In short, its the source system, the reporting tool and the reporting requirements that will dictate what type of hierarchy should be stored in OLAP.

  • Groups and pTOC

    Never even thought about them before, so I'm only vaguely aware that Groups are available at book level. Can I pull a selection of files into a group and then generate a ToC just for the group? or is there some other mechanism better suited for this task?

    The grouping and section functions were meant more for structured authoring. IIRC, you're still limited to a single autogenerated TOC in a Book. However, you can always create a Book of Books where each one has it's own TOC. The only drawback is that updating the Master book, doesn't automatically update the TOCs in the child books, you need to update all child books first.

  • M70: Permissions, wallpaper and limited user

    Hi,
    I have spent some time (i.e. a few days of mucking around) setting up a new M70 (PSM70A-T00E) notebook which has WinXPSP2 preinstalled (on an all-but-useless recovery DVD without the alleged "expert" option, but that's another story).
    When Windows was first installed, I configured the (default) administrator and one user account (called "aburdeni"). By default, both accounts had administrator permissions.
    After setting things up the way I like them, I am now trying to convert the user account to a limited account.
    The usual method of "control panel->user accounts->...->change account type" doesn't work as it claims that there is only one account on the system (even though there's the one with the username "administrator", which it ignores for some reason).
    To override this, I logged in as administrator and ran lusrmgr.msc. I then added user "aburdeni" to the User group and removed them from the Administrator group.
    Things broke.
    What I have noticed now is that:
    * The default Toshiba theme doesn't stick (no wallpaper, just a plain grey backdrop)
    * Control panel reverted back to the default hierarchical style, and clicking on the give-it-to-me-the-way-I-like-it text on the left-hand side didn't do anything.
    * Other settings (taskbar, start menu style) reverted back to the default.
    There are probably countless other things that broke, but I have yet to find them.
    Setting the account to Power User instead of User made no difference. Things only started working again when I added the account back into the Administrator group.
    Is there any way to have things work while logged in as an unprivileged user?

    As far as I know there is no difference in which country you live because operating systems are the same for all countries and some different settings depending on country are not known to me.
    Please delete all created accounts. Log in as administrator and then create a new account. First step is to give the name for this new account and click on Next. Second step is to define this user (administrator rights or even limited user). Choose limited option and end the wizard.
    Use Windows + L key combination and try to log in as limited user. There should not be any problem. The background picture and everything else will be set like for the first time.
    You can make a small test and try to start Toshiba power utility. You will see that there is no chance to start it and change anything. It can be used just by administrator.
    Please try again. It must works.

  • Record Group and From-Clause Datasource

    I need to do several complex queries (read-only) for my form. Original I used From-Clause datasource but, as the requirement changed, there are some limitations. I would rather no do anything dynamically if as all possible because there are over 20 such queries which makes the code difficult to maintain. I wanted to be able to reference block items in the query.
    I'm thinking about using Record Group query instead. What are the differences in capability between Record Groups and From-Clause Datasource?

    That's exactly the problem I have. I don't want to use LOVs so I've been thinking about how to visualize the record group data using data blocks. Perhaps I'll just go with dynamically building the From-Clause.
    I've looked into stored procedure based blocks a bit; it was confusing for me. Are the stored procedures stored in the database or are they defined in the form?

  • Item grouping into groups and subgroups

    In case there are a lot of items in Business One, companies usually group these by item groups. In some cases when there are thousands of items, these are further on divided into subgroups by using UDFs. Then when you are making, say a sales order, you first look for the item group and then for the subgroup. This is where it gets tricky. You can only display the code when browsing for subgroups. It is not possible to display the value within the description field (I do not know how to do it). The code lenght is limited to 8 characters and hence makes it difficult to write a proper description for this subgroup. Is there any way to overcome this issue?

    thank you Gordon and Deepak for your efforts. First level grouping (B1 standard) by item groups is working fine, the second level just displays codes. The issue is that the value within udf-field on item master data card (on the right-hand side) does display correctly. However when I search for this item, say when making a sales order, I will just get the value, not the description. It makes no difference if I select it in the document settings to display as visible.
    Codes and description for this udf-field are as follows:
    Code  Description
    100    Roses
    110    Tulips
    120    Lilies
    Now when I sort this field by subgroup value, it only displays 100, 110 etc.

  • How to manageimported users, groups, and computers in the "Magic Triangle"

    How do I manage imported users, groups, and computers? Server Preferences versus Workgroup Manager? I can import users and groups with the former but it offers limited configurable options. I can view all users. groups. and computers (from active directory) in the latter, but it does not designate which accounts have been imported.
    I've got a magic triangle setup, with my users, groups and computers in Windows Active Directory, and my MacOS X snow leopard server setup as a directory master, abd bound to AD as well. I wish to apply group policy like settings to my Mac OS X leopard and snow leopard clients.
    Here's a summary of my goals:
    1. Time Machine Storage for mac users when they logon to Mac OS X computers.
    2. Automount group shares located on the Mac OS X Server.
    3. Redirect user desktop and document folders to user shares either on the Mac OS X server or my Windows file server.
    4. Automount a custom folder (for each user) located either on the Mac OS X server or my Windows file server.
    5. Setup Mac OS X server as a printer server with quotas for all mac and windows computer users.

    I'm not sure you want to import users to use the magic triangle properly. I think importing creates 'Augmented Records' - the user icons have blue dots.
    The principle is this…
    Bind the server to Active Directory (AD) & create an Open Directory master (OD). This can be done from Server Admin, in the OD section, via the change button.
    Then you use Workgroup Manager, set the viewing directory (tiny little globe in top left) to use LDAP records on the server - LDAPv3/127.0.0.1. Authenticate (lock on right of toolbar) add a group, then switch to to its Members tab, click + Then change the user list to show the AD records & add the AD users to the OD group. It sounds weird & wrong, but it is how it works.
    You are never modifying the AD records, just assigning a group to the users in OD. It's why the clients need to bind to AD & OD.
    From there you can set the Managed prefs (MCX) for the members of the OD group. It also helps to add a guest computer account to OD to assign computer prefs based on the macs that bind to the server - it's in the File menu when you select the computes list in OD.
    I hope that's clear, not sure I can help with the other tasks, but they tend to fall into place once you have the complex start in place.

    If I create group, and need to put a i.e. reverb on that group. Do I have to use the busses or is there a way to put 1 reverb a ONE track that will affect all of the tracks within that group?

    this isn't really a logic/cubase thing, it's a standard techniques of audio production thing that has been around since before DAWs.
    like with most things, you have options. if you want to have a group of tracks use the same verb, then you can put it on a bus and send individually from each track so as to have control over the amount of reverb each track will have. or, you can just assign the output of the tracks in your group to go directly to the bus with your effects on it, and then they will all come through that bus channel as though they were all on the same track, so any inserts on that bus channel will affect them all equally.
    the different approaches have different reasons for being used, and as I said before it's not a logic/cubase thing, it's a choice you make in your technique for certain tasks. usually for reverb you would use effect sends so as to have more control over the send for indivual components. but if you want to apply bus compression/limiting to a group of elements in your mix, say, backing vocals, then you are better off just outputting those parts to a bus and using its inserts to set up your dynamics effects chain.

    Hi, I have a requirement to create the purchasing groups with dollar limitation.
    For example all the buyers from Purchasing Group P01 will have authority to create POs that have the total value < 10000.
    all the buyers from Purchasing Group P02 will have authority to create POs that have the total value < 50000
    and so on.
    The buyers from this P Grps should not be allowed to save a PO for more than limit specified.
    I tried to use the Authorization objects , but there is no sap delivered object for dollar limits.
    Any body help me, where can I configure this dollar limitations for purchasing groups?

    I have a requirement where I have to create devices other than meters like CT, VT, and Limiting devices. I beleive I have to create a device category for them.
    My question is : Do CT/VT devices come under "transformer" basic device categories? I also need help in what parameters I should configure in the 'winding groups' required for setting up the device category for transformers.
    What Basic Device Category do limiting devices come into? Do they a need a register group? Because I have to give a register group or winding group (for transformers) while creating the device in IQ01.

  • Grouping and Decimal characters in rtf templates.

    I’m really struggling with a problem here regarding the decimal characters for the prices in my output.
    I'm using XML Publisher 5.6.3.
    My goal is to control the grouping and decimal character from my template.
    The numbers in the XML data file can either be 10.000,00 or 10,000.00. The format is handled by the users nls_numeric_characters profile option.
    The output of the template shall be based on the locale and not the data generated by Oracle Reports. For example: Reports to US customers shall show the numbers in the following format 10,000.00. Reports to our European customers shall show the numbers in this format 10.000,00.
    How can I achieve this in my templates? Can it be achieved at all?

    The problem is that the report is generating the output based on the users profile option nls_numeric_characters.
    I have tried to override the users profile option in the before report trigger without any luck. I can alter selects so the query gets the numbers in the right format but then I would have to go through all queryes and reports which seem a bit wrong? Especially for the standard Oracle reports.

    Background:
    1) Report SQL is created with unions to have detail lines continue on a page, until it reaches page footer or report footer, rather than using  subreports.    A subreport report is now essentially a group1a, group1b, etc. (containing column headers and other data within the the report    with their respective detail lines).  I had multiple subreports and each subreport became one union.
    Created and tested, already:
    1) I have calculated @TotalLineForEachOfTheSameGroup, now I need to sum of the individual same group totals to get the total line count on a page.
    Issue:
    1) I need this to create break on a certain line before, it dribbles in to a pre-printed area.
    Other Ideas Appreciated:
    1) Groups/detail lines break inconveniently(dribble) into the pre-printed area, looking for alternatives for above situation.
