Grouping data based on period in a Pie Chart
Version 4.1/11g
Hi There,
I have a Pie chart to create which basically should be based on three parameters, Error code, count(of errors) every month. The Pie chart accepts only two parameters so I have the error code and count. Was looking to also have something based on period, as in every month. Would running the chart for every month be the only option? Never used the 3d Stacked option. Can that be used for basically to show the number of errors every month grouped by error code?
SELECT errorcode
, TRUNC (col2, 'MONTH') AS month
, COUNT (*) AS n
FROM table_x
GROUP BY col1
, TRUNC (col2, 'MONTH')
;Thats the normal sql query which would get the data. But was looking at using a graphical chart for the same.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Sun

Query to group dates based on days of week
Hi,
I have a table containing the following format:
Create table testtable(dates date, day_identifier number);
The day_identifier column data contains the corresponding dates columns' day of week equivalent i.e.
to_char(dates, 'd')
The table contains following sample data:
Dates

I am looking for a query that will group the above data based on the day_identifier column data into the following format:
01-Oct-2013 11-Oct-2013 1346
18-Oct-2013 23-Oct-2013 246
The above data if expanded i.e.
all dates between 01-Oct-2013 and 11-Oct-2013 and having day of week value in 1,3,4,6
and
all dates between 18-Oct-2013 and 23-Oct-2013 and having day of week value in 2,4,6
will give me the above table's resultset.
Please help me in resolving the issue.

How to control outer group data based on inner group data
Hi ,
Please can anyyone help me on this issue.
I have one invoice header record and for that invoice there are 15invoice lines record.
1)my requirement is i want to print the 10 invoice records in first page and remaining records,in next page.--this i had achieved*(byusing solution posted inthe forum)*
i have the layout like this
image:!C:\Documents and Settings\madhu.rn\Desktop\layout.jpg!
main group data table
i had inserted another table for inner group data.
again main group data in main table.
2)But here i don't want print header info again in second page.
3)i am not getting the line numbers in inner group in ascending order ,i am getting in descending order. how to get them in decending order
4) if lines record are going to second page i don't want to print subtotal,tax,total (these are main group data)in first page, instead of this
in place of
subtotal-- want to print Continued......
Tax- null
Total:page 1 of 2. like that i want to print in first page.
i want them to print in second page.
5)the bottom portion also not to print on second page.(after innergroup data,there is some main group data)
i have one doubt by using inner group data whether we can control outer group data.
if any of my requirement's are not possible to meet ,please provide me the information.
This urgent for me,have to submit it.

Why can't I access the data when I right click my pie chart any longer?
I don't know what happened but I need to change some data in my pie chart but I nolonger get the data option when right-clicking the chart...
then I guess at some point it has been ungrouped, which makes it simply a collection of objects, rather than a graph. you're supposed to get this message when that happens. did you see this at any point? when did it stop being editable?

How to group data based on date
In my program the internal table is returning several values based on date.
for example for the first pernr in the image below there are four records. i need to delete the first record which is between the dates 20 and 30 .
and also i need to get the difference between the dates as the record 23 and 28 i need to get separate dates as 24, 25..28.I am not sure if I understood your question correctly.
From what I have understood, you can use the following logic.
This logic will move all the records from lt_fields2 to another table lt_fields1 with begda between 20 and 30 of any month, except for the first record. It will also move records for every date between begda and endda of each record.
You can alter the logic based on your exact requirement.
declare another table lt_fields1 like lt_fields2.
data del_flag.
data prev_month(2) type c.
sort lt_fields by pernr begda.
clear del_flag.
loop at lt_fields2 into wa_fields where begda+6(2) GE 20.
* Delete the first record having date greater than 20 in a month for each pernr.
at new pernr.
clear del_flag.
endat.
if begda+4(2) NE prev_month.
clear del_flag.
endif.
if del_flag is initial.
del_flag = 'X'.
continue. " This record will not be moved to the final internal table.
endif.
* Add records for each date between begda and endda.
append wa_fields to lt_fields1.
prev_month = begda+4(2)
while wa_fields-begda LT wa_fields-endda.
wa_fields-begda = wa_fields-begda+1.
append wa_fields to lt_fields1.
endwhile.
endloop. -
Pdf generated through API's does not display pie chart
I'm using BIP 10.1.3.4, running on Oracle Linux 5 connecting to a 11g database.
I developed an RTF using the word template builder and included a pie chart. Previewing from within Word works fine, running the report directly from BIP works fine. I then used the API's to generate the pdf programmatically to have more control.
I use RTFProcessor to convert my RTF into a XSL, DataProcessor to generate the xml data and FOProcessor to generate the final PDF. This works fine running from local JDeveloper, connecting through to the remote database.
I've now loaded the java class with the API's into the database, and as per http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12844_01/doc/bip.1013/e12188/T421739T517850.htm#T520954, loaded up the following jar's
xdocore.jar - the core BI Publisher library
aolj.jar - although this is an Oracle E-Business Suite library, it is required for standalone implementations as well
i18nAPI_v3.jar - the i18n library used for localization functions
xdoparser.jar - the scalable XML parser and XSLT 2.0 engine
xmlparserv2-904.jar - the main XML parser/XSLT engine
bipres.jar - a charting library
bicmn.jar - a charting library
jewt4.jar - a charting support library
share.jar - a charting support library
collections.jar - you only need this if you are working with the delivery APIs or bursting engine.
The report works fine, all data tabels are shown but the pie chart is missing. I originally got the jar files from the TemplateBuilder/jlib directory. I also tried using the jar files from the BIP/xmlpserver\WEB-INF\lib directory as well. Problem remains - everything works fine except for the lack of the pie chart !
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Cheers,

I have a problem!
I had to create a pie chart. So I tried to create one. But at the end when I want to test it, I only get a "X" (picture not available) on the site. If I use the same data I used for creating the pie chart for creating a "normal" chart, it will works.
Now my question, how can I display a pie chart?
(I hope you4ll understand, I4m not very good in english)
TanjaHi Tanja,
It's not a problem .Pie charts ,if you look in the global settings it clearly says that it is a beta version .So Oracle does not give us any guarantee for those features.Pie charts are under Beta version for the last many months.Every time they will say that will work in the next version, but even to day it is a beta feature..
Thanks

Hi everyone...
do you know if is it possible to modify HINTs that appears in the PIE CHART?
In the HINT i have only "Label" + "cell value" + "% of pie chart", may I insert other data?
Thanks for you help.
LCAll you could do is to utilise the Labels part and add more data there but not show the Pie Chart Legend. There are workarounds by using different components to show the details but no as Anil said you cannot add items to the mouse over values.

CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
Hi all, I have a problem with a pie chart I created based upon monthly figures that were grouped. The data type is DateTime but I have modified the report to show the date as January 2007, February 2007 etc. etc. This is all fine and appropriate as it is based on a gouping of all the data into months. However, when I chart the same data the labels and legend do not reflect this formatting. Instead they show up as 01/2007, 02/2007 etc. etc. I have searched the forums, but was unable to find any one else who has had the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Grouping of data based on user prompt having a list of dimensions
Hi All,
I have a requirement to be able to group data in OBIEE request or Dashboard based on user prompt selection.
The prompt should list the Dimensions Available
e.g.
Dimensions: Product, Region, Employee
Fact: Sales
The report is to display sales total for the quarters of the current year.
The user prompt should list the available dimensions (In this case - Location, Employee and Product).
If I choose Product, the data is to be grouped by Products - Layout having a simple tabular grouping with Product names as Group headings.
Similarly any other choice of Dimension from the prompt should group the data by that dimension and have the dimension values used in the group headings.
How could we implement this? I understand this type of requirement (ability to choose dimension) is met in some OLAP reporting tools.
I have used multiple views and the View Selector for similar requirements previously, but looking for a dynamic solution here.
Any pointers or solution will be great.
Thanks,
Kiran

Commitment-update based on periodic base, based on delivery date. FI_E008
Hi gurus:
In our system, we are using profile update 000350.
The purchase orders consume budget based on delivery date.
When posting an invoice, it is necessary that the commitment reduction
(amount type 0200) is posted with the invoice posting date and not the
delivery date of the purchase order.
This requires defining that value type 51 takes commitment update based
on periods.
By selecting the commitment update based on periods, it is not possible
to determine the period by the delivery date. System displays an error
message FI_E008.
We need commitment-update to be based on periodic base, based on the
delivery date.
Could you help me. ThanksHi,
I don't think it's possible: PBET implies using posting date as basis date in the most cases. Tthere are some exceptions, but they don't apply to purchase orders (v.type 51).

Grouping Data on DVT Component
Dear All,
I have been thinking about this for sometime..
The DVT Area graph is excellent component that displays spikes of
data.
<dvt:areaGraph id="areaGraph1" subType="AREA_VERT_ABS" tabularData="#{myBean.tableData}">
<dvt:background>
<dvt:specialEffects/>
</dvt:background>
<dvt:graphPlotArea/>
<dvt:seriesSet>
<dvt:series/>
</dvt:seriesSet>
<dvt:o1Axis/>
<dvt:y1Axis/>
<dvt:legendArea automaticPlacement="AP_NEVER"/>
</dvt:areaGraph>However I have a requirement to group the data based on day.
When I have a sample date data like below, all of these are displayed on the x-axis.
My web service returns data on a 6hour period per day
2011-01-01 00:00 *(Note: 12AM)*
2011-01-01 06:00 *(Note: 6AM)*
2011-01-01 12:00 *(Note: 12PM)*
2011-01-01 18:00 *(Note: 6PM)*
2011-01-02 00:00
2011-01-02 06:00
2011-01-02 12:00
2011-01-02 18:00
2011-01-05 00:00
2011-01-05 06:00
2011-01-05 12:00
2011-01-05 18:00But my requirement is, can I optionally group the data so that it will only display
the date on the x-axis but still maintains the variation on the time.
Say, the x-axis of the graph would only display the day variations
2011-01-01 00:00
2011-01-02 00:00
2011-01-03 00:00
2011-01-04 00:00
2011-01-05 00:00I tried my best to explain it in detail but I would be more than willing to supply more information.
Thanks.Can you provide a screenshot of the results that you're seeing?
My guess here is that your data isn't triggering the built in time axis behavior. When java.util.Date objects as passed to the graph, it should automatically convert to a time axis that is able to optimize the label behavior (providing label display at optimized intervals). The screenshot will help confirm and we can figure out the solution from there. -
How to filter the Rest Api data based on Taxanomy columns
Hi Everyone,
We are using SharePoint2010 Standard Edition.
I wanted get the library details through REST Api. I am using as below:
https://SiteUrl/_vti_bin/listdata.svc/Documents?$filter=Title eq 'SharePointDoc'
Here I am able to get the info regarding "SharePointDoc". But when I am trying to get the details from Taxonomy filter, it didn't.
Can anyone please tell me how can we filter based on Taxanomy fields.
Thanks in Advance
KrishnasandeepHi,
I understand that you wanted to filter the Rest Api data based on Taxanomy columns.
Per my knowledge, in SharePoint 2010 , not all types of column are available via REST, most annoyingly managed metadata columns are amongst this group of unsupported column types.
However, in SharePoint 2013, we can filter list items based on taxonomy (managed metadata) columns.
Taxonomy fields can be now called via REST API using CAML query in REST calls.
Here is a great blog for your reference:
http://www.cleverworkarounds.com/2013/09/23/how-to-filter-on-a-managed-metadata-column-via-rest-in-sharepoint-2013/comment-page-1/
You’d better to change the REST calls and the CAML query to check whether it works in SharePoint 2010.

Hi,
In Excel 2007, I have a pie chart on sheet 1. I want to make a copy of the pie chart from sheet 1 and past into sheet 2, and change the table data in sheet 2 to get new chart recalculated based on new table values in sheet 2.
However, the chart in sheet 2 is still pointing to the table data in sheet 1.
All the cells in sheet 1 have relative cells.
Please advise.
Thanks - BijanHello Wind,
As teylyn suggested:
"An Excel chart is hard-wired to its data source. You can copy and paste a chart to a different sheet and it will still refer to the initial source data."
So I did create the template and used in my 2nd tab which worked perfectly. However, I had an issue with merged cells which I am using for my data, and tylyn suggested that I provide the excel file that I am working with, and I did.
So now I need help as how to make merged cells work when I try to create a pie chart from template based on new data (which reside in mergerd cells).
P.S. I cannot resize my cells to make the data and labels fit into one call, so I have to have merged cells.
Thanks

Introduction
There is a scenario that a report grouped by one field for some reasons, then the users want to export each group data to separated Excel files. By default, we can directly export only one file at a time on report server. Is there a way that we can split
the report based on the group, then export each report to Excel file?
Solution
To achieve this requirement, we can add a parameter with the group values to filter the report based on the group, then create a data-driven subscription for the report which get File name and parameter from the group values.
In the report, create a parameter named Name which use the Name field as Available Values (supposing the group grouped on Name field).
Add a filter as below in the corresponding tablix:
Expression: [Name]
Operator: =
Value: [@Name]
Deploy the report. Then create a data-driven subscription with Windows File Share delivery extension for the report in Report Manager.
During the data-driven subscription, in the step 3, specify a query that returns the Name field with the values as the group in the report.
In the step 4 (Specify delivery extension settings for Report Server FileShare), below “File name”option, select “Get the value from the database”, then select Name field.
Below ‘Render Format’ option, select Excel as the static value.
In the step 5, we can configure parameter Name “Get the value from the database”, then select Name field.
Then specify the subscription execute only one time.

Is this a supported scenario, or does it use unsupported features?
For example, can we call exec [ReportServer].dbo.AddEvent @EventType='TimedSubscription', @EventData='b64ce7ec-d598-45cd-bbc2-ea202e0c129d'
in a supported way?
