Groupwise desktop sync. Duplicate posted reminder notes

Question

In our environment we are syncing just the Groupwise Calendar (v.7.0) with a BlackBerry Curve, using the Blackberry desktop software that came with the phone.
We have run into the following issue on two of these phones so far.
When the user creates an all day event, some how a posted reminder note is created, this is then duplicated several times over multiple syncs causing the user to sometimes get 30-40 reminders the day of the all day appointment.
Is there a reason that the posted reminder notes are duplicating (both on device and on the Groupwise Client) or has anyone run into an approximately similar issue?

I've recently come across a couple of good threads which have info on this problem:
1. There seem to be some issues between Mac Mail and IMAP access to Gmail which cause notes to be saved in different places (under different labels in Gmail):

However, even after following all this advice (and doing other stuff like wiping the databases on my Blackberry), I still get 5 copies of each Note on my Blackberry, when there's only 1 in the Notes. So I thought I'd try a spotlight search for some of the text in one of my notes, which happened to be "Corelli Mandolin". Hey presto, 5 copies of the "Mail Message" (e.g. Note) turn up in different archive folders in Mail. See attached screenshot. 
After deleting the 4 other copies of mail (except the one in ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/Notes.mbox which is the real one), the problem is fixed for me.
