GRUB not detect SSD with win8.1

I've always used syslinux. But now I have to use GRUB. I have two SSD, SSD have a UEFI windows 8.1 SSD and other have Arch with grub. The grub did not detect the partition Win8.1. What can I do to make GRUB detect win8.1?
Greetings and thanks.

Ok, i try,, but not detect.... i try:
if [ "${grub_platform}" == "efi" ]; then
menuentry "Microsoft Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 UEFI-GPT" {
insmod part_gpt
insmod fat
insmod search_fs_uuid
insmod chain
search --fs-uuid --set=root $hints_string $fs_uuid
chainloader /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
fi
what parameters  i change?

  • MSI 770-G45: Will not detect SSD.

My mother board can't detect my SSD but strangely enough it can detect my DVD drive (sorry, I don't know the name and model).
My computer was fine till I recently switched out my heat sink. I tried to turn on my computer and it wouldn't start at all; I noticed that I plugged in the wrong connectors into JFP1, so I fixed that and reconnected them into their proper pins. It powered on but that's about it so I cleared CMOS jumper which helped me get to the BIOS but now it can't detect my SSD to which it contains my OS. As I said, I can get to the BIOS but that's about it.
I'm at work so I can't tell you what BIOS version is on it but before clearing the CMOS it was at the latest BIOS version. I will have to confirm it's current version later.
I checked all connections, tried different SATA cords and other connections on my board. Still can't detect it.

My mistake... I was thinking you were running Raid with 2 SSD's...
Is your SSD in Sata 1? It is best to put your storage drives in the lower Sata connectors and your optical drives in the last, higher numbers. Possibly change out your Sata cable. Check that it is seated correctly. Having a single SSD you can set IDE, Raid disabled. If Raid is on, it will be looking for the raid program to control the drives. You don't have to run and do it, but a new Bios was released .9 (bios should only be updated if the changes benefit you) Also make sure the power lead to the SSD is seated. Possibly when you were installing your cooler, you didn't realize you... it happens.
Another option is to test your SSD in another PC and see if it shows up.
Are you using 'Del' or 'F11' to get into Bios.. I use 'F11'.. it's on the list.
I don't think I can update to 9. The latest is 10.8 according to MSI but if I can upgrade to 10.9 then I'll try that out.
Yeah, my SSD APPEARS to work; I plugged it into a hard drive enclosure and it powered on; plugged it to my laptop and it was able to read it; only thing was that I couldn't really do anything with it which I found odd. It didn't show up in my list of drives in windows explorer however it did appear in the disk management console (diskmgmt.msc at command prompt). This issue might be suspect.
One thing I didn't mention; to check to see if there was an issue with my SSD, I tried another SATA hard drive. At this point, I was able to detect my DVD drive but not my SSD so I figured I should try and see if I can read a normal hard drive. I plugged her and my computer didn't start. I put the normal hard drive back into its enclosure and it didn't work; the power light was red blinking; tried another enclosure similar results.

  • INTERNET CONNECTION NOT DETECTED message with Crystal Reports 2011

    Hello:
We upgrade from SQL 3008 R2 to SQL 2012 SP1.   Had trouble with Crystal Reports not opening reports.  Information on the internet indicated that you had to reinstall Crystal Reports after upgrading SQL.  We did a repair of Crystal Reports 2011.  I have the box checked to check for updates when Crystal Reports starts.  I am now getting INTERNET CONNECTION NOT DETECTED and the application will not check for updates.  We have tried turning of the firewall and almost everything else we can think of.  I have access to the internet from that server and IE9 works just fine.  Can anyone help, please.

  • Iphone and Ipad are not detecting airprinters with Dlink DIR-651

Since changing my router to a Dlink DIR-651, my apple deivces are not detecting airprinters.
Dlink says I need to open ports on the router.
    Please advise.

Hi..I've had a variant of this problem; my internet was accessible but my devices on wifi could not see the PC on Lan. That meant no iTunes syncing, Airplay from iTunes etc.
Dlink has a strange default setting that isolates Wifi & Wired connections into different subnets.I'm assuming you have DHCP setup on your router and you're PC or MAC has internet access via the same router. Try the following steps to see if this solves the problem for you; first Log into your DLINK admin page-
    1. Go to Setup -> Local Network  and Uncheck the box that says 'Configure the second IP Address and Subnet Mask for LAN' - Hit Apply
    2. Go to Wireless -> Wireless Basic and Uncheck 'Enable MultiAP Isolation' - Hit Apply
    3. Restart your Router
You do not need to port forward. Just get the Wired & Wireless devices on the same Subnet.
Let me know if this solves your problem. I've been frustrated by my problem for months & had nearly given up.

  • Grub not detecting Windows on RAID 0 array.

I'm having some trouble with my RAID array. I have tried to research this, but all I can find is how to install Arch Linux ONTO an array, not how to detect Windows on one, and configure grub for it. I have two SSDs in a RAID 0 configuration, which holds my Windows 7 installation. I then have two HDDs in JBOD. One of those HDDs is my mass storage drive for Windows and Linux, the other is my Arch Linux install.
The problem is that--with os-prober installed--Grub isn't detecting my Windows install. I was trying Fedora when I converted my Windows install to RAID 0, and Fedora picked up on it when I ran grub-mkconfig with os-prober installed. Grub at that point was pointing at /dev/mapper/<some random-seeming string> for Windows, and it worked.
Now that I'm back "home" to Arch Linux, I am trying to get grub to see Windows, but it never detects it. /dev/mapper/ is empty except for 'control', and /dev contains sda and sdb, which are the drives that are supposed to be in the array. At this point, I'm completely lost.  I'm not even sure if this is software or hardware raid. I thought it to be hardware, because my motherboard has a RAID option rom on it, which is what I used to build the array, but the /dev/mapper stuff makes me think it's software.
Can anyone at least get me pointed in the right direction?
    Thank you,
    KD0BPV

Well, I did add ntfs to my initramfs, but it still dropped into an emergency mode terminal. I checked to make sure that it was successful, and the ntfs kernel module was loaded. Any ideas?
    # lsmod | grep ntfs run in emergency shell:
    ntfs 191626 0
    /etc/mkinitcpio.conf:
    # vim:set ft=sh
    # MODULES
    # The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
    # run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
    # in this array. For instance:
    # MODULES="piix ide_disk reiserfs"
    MODULES="ext4 ntfs"
    # BINARIES
    # This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
    # wish into the CPIO image. This is run last, so it may be used to
    # override the actual binaries included by a given hook
    # BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
    BINARIES=""
    # FILES
    # This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
    # as-is and are not parsed in any way. This is useful for config files.
    # Some users may wish to include modprobe.conf for custom module options
    # like so:
    # FILES="/etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf"
    FILES=""
    # HOOKS
    # This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the
    # modules and scripts added to the image, and what happens at boot time.
    # Order is important, and it is recommended that you do not change the
    # order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for
    # help on a given hook.
    # 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
    # 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
    # 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES
    # Examples:
    ## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
    ## No raid, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.
    # HOOKS="base"
    ## This setup will autodetect all modules for your system and should
    ## work as a sane default
    # HOOKS="base udev autodetect pata scsi sata filesystems"
    ## This is identical to the above, except the old ide subsystem is
    ## used for IDE devices instead of the new pata subsystem.
    # HOOKS="base udev autodetect ide scsi sata filesystems"
    ## This setup will generate a 'full' image which supports most systems.
    ## No autodetection is done.
    # HOOKS="base udev pata scsi sata usb filesystems"
    ## This setup assembles a pata mdadm array with an encrypted root FS.
    ## Note: See 'mkinitcpio -H mdadm' for more information on raid devices.
    # HOOKS="base udev pata mdadm encrypt filesystems"
    ## This setup loads an lvm2 volume group on a usb device.
    # HOOKS="base udev usb lvm2 filesystems"
    ## NOTE: If you have /usr on a separate partition, you MUST include the
    # usr, fsck and shutdown hooks.
HOOKS="base udev autodetect pata scsi sata dmraid filesystems usbinput fsck"
    # COMPRESSION
    # Use this to compress the initramfs image. By default, gzip compression
    # is used. Use 'cat' to create an uncompressed image.

  • [SOLVED] Grub Not Detecting Windows

    Hello,
    So here's the scenario:
I initially had Ubuntu and Windows 8, but couldn't boot, so I used boot-repair (via live Ubuntu), and it got fixed; I could use Windows 8 again (Ubuntu didn't matter).
I then deleted Ubuntu, then installed Arch instead. Grub was successfully installed, Arch and Windows 8 are shown, except when I choose Windows 8, it goes to the Windows Boot Manager (which shows a single choice of Windows 8). When I choose it, it says that it failed to start.
    File: \Windows\system32\config\system
    Status: 0xc000025
Info: The operating system couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or contains errors.
How can I get it to work as before?
I've tried using a custom.cfg as suggested in the manual
    menuentry "Windows 8"{
    set root="(hd0,1)"
    chainloader +1
The entry showed up after running grub-mkconfig, except that it did the same thing as the original choice detected by os-prober (as in the one during the installation mentioned above).
By the way here's my partition layout:
    /dev/sda1 Windows System Reserved
    /dev/sda2 Windows
    /dev/sda3 Arch
I also tried to set root to (hd0,2), but it gave a similar error:
    File: \Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains error.
I believe this is because I've tried to work with EasyBCD/BCDedit before.

    Finally solved it!
It was more of a Windows problem than an Arch one. I used Live Ubuntu's GParted and noticed that my Windows partition (/dev/sda2) was marked by an exclamation point. I right-clicked to Information and this was the message:
ntfs_decompress_mapping_pairs: Input/output error NTFS is inconsistent. Please run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot it TWICE!
I was starting to download a Windows 8 ISO, but thankfully I found out that you could create a recovery drive from an existing Windows 8 installation (I had another computer).
    Failed attempts:
There was no reinstall option for me (looking back at it, that's a good thing), so I went for the Fix Startup Problems options. I ran it thrice and I stopped because it finally said that it couldn't fix it.
I had no System Restore Points either.
I wanted to see if the Continue to Windows 8 option would magically be able to boot it, but after the screen froze for 2-3 minutes, I rebooted and went for the Command Prompt.
More failed attempts with the Command Prompt:
I was able to find this http://social.technet.microsoft.com/For … proinstall
    The instructions were:
Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.
If the Bootrec.exe tool runs successfully, it presents you with an installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type Yes. A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully.
If the Bootrec.exe tool cannot locate any missing Windows installations, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order in which they are presented. Press ENTER after each command.
    Bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
    ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
    Bootrec /rebuildbcd
    Restart the computer.
So I tried, but it failed anyway. Then I began to notice. The current directory was X: (I was booting from the USB), and by some chance I managed to figure out that there were also C an D.
I searched for the command to display the disks:
    http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000854.htm
    wmic logicaldisk get name
What I wanted was E. (This is what will be C normally, with the Program Files and all). I also had F, which I will guess will be the free space remaining which I put aside for swap (it couldn't be accessed in the Prompt with dir f:).
I tried the above solution with E instead of C, but it failed.
    What finally worked:
    chkdsk /f e:
And now it boots when I choose it in Grub. Sometimes the Windows Boot Manager pops up, but whether it does so or not, Windows 8 loads properly.

    Hi
    Did you solve this issue?
Could you install the Windows 8.1 system on this SSD drive?
I think the additional driver installation while setup procedure isnt necessary since Win 8.1 should already contain the essential drivers.
From my point of few there could be an compatibility issue (maybe SSD firmware update would solve this).
How about the usage of other SSD drives? Do you have the same problem using other SSD drives from other manufactures?
    Feedback would be appreciated.

  • HP 8530w - SSD not detected

    Hello,
Recently I managed to get an SSD from work, namely the A-Data S596 (500 SERIES).
When putting it into my HP Elitebook 8530w, the disk was not detected.
I have already upgraded the BIOS to the newest version.
The SSD's firmware has also recently been upgraded to the newest.
After some googling, I read the device mode could matter.
The disk was not detected using AHCI, IDE or RAID.
Any other ideas to make it work?
    Thank you in advance.

Same problem here with a Samsung SSD (MMCRE28G8MXP, Lenovo OEM). The disk works fine in three other devices but is not detected by the 8530w BIOS. The BIOS and SSD firmware are current and the SATA Device Mode setting has no effect. I was wondering whether there might be a tool to set the mode of the SSD but couldn't find anything.
    Any ideas??

  • OCZ Summit 60gb ssd not detected

    Hi all,
I just upgraded my 13.3 2.53 mpb's default 250gb hdd to the ocz summit 60gb ssd. I was able to install snow leopard using the leopard disk and snow leopard upgrade disk. I subsequently installed win xp pro sp3 on boot camp. The ssd is evenly partitioned between osx and windows. After installing win xp, I did not tinker with startup disk settings. I was working on a document in windows and when I returned a hour later, the mbp is showing 'a flashing question mark folder'. I followed the steps described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1440 Using disk utility from my osx install cd, I could see that the ssd is not detected, only the dvd drive is detected. I reopened the mbp and confirmed that the sata connection is secure. On a side note, I put the old 250gb hdd into an external enclosure (which has a time machine backup), it was detected by osx install cd.
Next I'll swap the ssd into the external enclosure and see if its detectable.
    Thanks in advance.

So exactly what is your question?
Assuming you are asking what happened to your SSD, you may have to roll back your EFI 1.7 firmware to EFI 1.6 for the SSD to work internally in the computer. I had to in my MBP.

  • Z87-G45 Detects SSD, but not Windows installed in it

So the problem started last night when my computer wanted to "update and shut down". I did that, and the next startup, the Killer 2200 would not work. So I followed the steps here to get rid of the killer suite and install just the driver. Hours later, I suffered my first BSOD with the error msg IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Now, every time I boot up, it will NOT detect the Windows 8.1 boot up, but it DOES detect the SSD that window's is installed.
So how do I fix it every time? I keep reflashing and reinstalling BIOS version 1.9, that has been the only method that has gotten my computer to detect windows.
I have talked to support already and they informed me that I need to send the motherboard in for repair/exchange. But does anyone have any advice in maybe attempting to fix this issue?

    Hi,
Your SSD or memory might be damaged.
Try use only one RAM stick at one time , and try with different RAM stick,
or run memtest/HDD test tool to see if the RAM/SSD is okay.

  • DVD-Audio and "can not detect sound blaster card" with Audigy2 Va

I recently purchased an "Audigy2 Value" card from an eBay user, because I recently purchased some DVD-Audio discs. I downloaded the Audigy2 drivers from the website, and the Creative MediaSource player. 5. Surround sound worked fine for me, though sometimes the driver would reset to the default 2/2. sound and I would have to re-select 5. sound, which was annoying.
Then I was completely unable to get the MediaSource player to recognise my DVD-Audio discs, and the EAX functionality of the player would never work. The EAX logo never appeared in the player. When I tried installing the MediaSource player from an install disc, I got the message "can not detect sound blaster card". Then I discovered the world of EEPROM problems.
I followed advice from some other threads, including using ScanPCI to get information on the card, which yielded the following result.

(Just a note: above you can clearly see that it does not say I have an Audigy, it thinks it is a SBLi've. Is this normal? The card IS an Audigy 2, it says so on the card.)
So, I put the card back on my own PC, thinking this has fixed my EEPROM, but I get the same as before. Subsystem ID 0002h. And of course the install software will not detect the card.
I realise that I could go back to using the web drivers, but this still leaves me with MediaSource not recognising the card and not enabling DVD-Audio or EAX, which is why I bought the card in the first place!
I have heard that the VIA chipset is possibly to blame for the EEPROM problems on the Audigy cards, and certainly it seems like it is not permanent, since it gave different information on the other PC. So now I am seriously considering getting a new motherboard.
Do other motherboards cause this same problem? I don't want to buy another board and get the same trouble. All I want is to be able to install my MediaSource and have it recognise my card so I can listen to my DVD-Audio discs.
    Cheers,
    Russ.

Figured out my problem. Installing the drivers from the web to begin with was a bad idea. They just did not work properly with the card.
The "card not found" problem has gone as well, after installing it in another PC. I am also using the proper install disc now, as the other one I was using turned out to not be for the Audigy 2 value after all, but was an Audigy 2 install disc. That easily explains the "Card not found" error. The differing results from the ScanPCI program are still bizarre, though.
Thanks to all of the people on the forum who posted information in other threads to help me deal with this issue. For now I am sticking with the original drivers from the disc and I am not upgrading.

My iphone is no longer working I have black screen with a picture of the itunes logo and a USB cable.  When I try to connect my iphone to itunes the device is not detected, can anyone help me? I desperatley need my phone back

I have had a 3GS for 2+ years.  After upgrading to IOS 4 (now 4.3.5) I began having problems.  In the past week, my screen went to the itunes logo and USB cable twice -- unprovoked -- just found it sitting there like that!  I connected to itunes and it did restore from a backup but it is a major inconvenience.  I am also searching for answers, but better back-up regularly!

  • My Mac Pro (2006) with NVidia GeForce 8800 GT is not detecting a second display.  What can I do?

My Mac Pro w/ NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT does not detect a second display from the System Preferences / Displays.  Even though I select the "Detect Displays" button, nothing happens.  I also have Bootcamp and Windows 7 in a partition on my drive.  When I operate with Windows 7, there is no problem detecting both of my displays.  However, when I operate with Windows 7, there is no sound signal sent from my sound card.  When I switch back to the OS X then I get a sound feed from the sound card, but then it will not detect more than one monitor.  I'm ready to pull out my hair.  Anyone have suggestions?

    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause
