Gtk2-aqd for gtk 2.12 = :(

The current patches for gnome-macmenu aren't working with gtk 2.12
I can't just use the old gtk 2.10 because everything else stops working.
Is anyone working on updating these patches to 2.12? I'm pretty sure someone must be because I found this: http://pastebin.ca/743853 Whoever you are, I'll help you! Just contact me.

Hold it right there (Just joking, but I always wanted to say that)
Why you don't try something simpler?, Something like...
nano /etc/profile.d/got_damned_vmware.sh
#! /bin/bash
export VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK="no"
chmod +x /etc/profile.d/got_damned_vmware.sh
reboot
I hope this works for you ^.^

  • Clearlooks-gtk2 vs with gtk-engines

    The 2 packages in the title conflicts one with the other, and this is fine, because they both provide the engine for clearlooks.
    But what about the icons and the metacity themes that come with the first of the two?
    clearlooks-gtk2 provide a greater support for that specific theme, coming with icons and three themes for different window colouring.
    By now I've just installed themes and icons from the clearlooks package in my home, is there any better and clearer solution?

    Snowman wrote:If you like clearlooks better, why don't you install clearlooks-gtk2 instead of gtk-engines?
    Because gtk-engines is required by 3 other theme packages actually.
    I hope JGC will be fast in updating the pkgs in his todo list.

  • Lib32-gtk2 looks for theme engines in the wrong place

    When starting a 32 bit gtk-app in a 64 bit environment with DE KDE4 I get the following error:
    Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libqtcurve.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
    I have qtcurve installed as well as lib32-qtcurve from AUR (amongst all other 32 bit libs I need). But lib32-gtk2 seems to look in the wrong directory for loading 32 bit themes. lib32-qtcurve is in /opt/lib32/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libqtcurve.so instead of the path mentioned in the error warning.
    Seems like lib32-gtk2 has a wrong path compiled in. Or is there any lib32-specific conf-file I have to edit?
    Harvey

    Well, since nobody seems to have a clue I filed a bug report for lib32-gtk2and see what happens.

  • Sol 9/cc not working for gtk+-1.2.10 and other tools

    Hi,
    OS: SunOS Release 5.9 Generic

    I have an older version of gtk+ (1.2.10) which doesn't configure, with following error message;

    I have a similar error for nessus-core2.0.9. Although when I configure other tools, such as gtk+-2.2.4, I have no problem. It checks for cc and finds cc.
    I have the following $PATH ..
    PATH=/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc:/usr/ucb/cc:/usr/ucb:usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:$PATH:/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc:/usr/ucb:/usr/ucb/cc:/usr/ccs/bin

    PATH=/opt/SUNWspro/bin:/usr/ucb:/....
    Another problem: PATH contains "usr/local/bin" (NOTE: without leading / slash!), this probably needs to be

  • Appropriate theme for GTK applications inside KDE

    Hello.
    I'd want you to tell me some "appropriate" GTK themes to be used with KDE. To be more precise, I want to know if there are some GTK themes that match with KDE themes (e.g. Bespin).
    Are there any of these?
    Thanks is advance.

    Ok, I found a good theme and imported it. Thanks ! Now it's time for the window decoration!

  • Weatherboy - small weather script for GTK tray

    Migrating again from heavy GNOME3 to the Openbox desktop, I was looking for a lightweight tray application with current weather report. Search through AUR gives me nothing and I rapidly wrote a small script on Python2 and GTK which displays the current weather condition. It retrieves data from Yahoo!Weather and uses gtk-stock icons for display.
    Here it is. and AUR
    UPD 20120606: left click on icon opens the weather site (http://weather.yahoo.com/ will be opened in the default browser). This small improvement uses standard webbrowser python module (+4 lines to the applet code).
    UPD 20111002: '-a/--advanced' key for advanced tooltip (like on screenshot above). 'Quit' menu on right click.
    Thank you for every comment and remark!

    WorMzy wrote:
    I have modified my location to something more specific, which does have weather, so hopefully that "unknown" icon won't get seen too often.
    I also voted your package up on the AUR, works great now.
    I have a couple of suggestions though. "Verbose" seems to be required for a detailed tooltip? I can see the logic behind that, but I'd expect verbose to mean you get more output on stdout. You might want to either change that, or make it clear what -v does on -h's output.
    Also, a right-click context menu with an "exit" option would be great. Currently, the only way to kill weatherboy is to ascertain the process' PID (using ps + grep), then issue a sigterm to the process (or use a process manager like htop to do something similar).
    And, a config file would be great, so you can just run "weatherboy" and have it use preset values.
    I've noticed all your ideas, but what about configuration file. I'll not do that because main idea of weatherboy is to be run on startup and there are only three options (woeid, timeout and units). It's too little for config file.

  • Gtk2-alternative for krusader?

    hello!
    i'm looking for a potential alternative to replace krusader. i don't want to use it, because it starts sometimes to slow and it's a kde-program.
    here are some things the alternative should provide:
    - two panel view
    - net connection (sftp, ftp, ...)
    - tabs (not so important)
    - gtk2-interface
    - nice (automatic) mime/file-type management
    i actually tested gnome-commander, tuxcommander and emelfm2. but all managers are not so user-friendly like krusader.
    are there any other nice file managers out there?
    mfg iggy

    there's gnome-commander. but it's not able to do sftp, ftp works well. it's in a slow development.

    @wonder
    Thanks for the tip! It makes sense.
    However, the current PKGBUILD for libdesktop-agnostic-gnome-bzr speaks about dependencies like so:
    depends=('glib2' 'gtk2>=2.20.0' 'gconf' 'gnome-vfs' 'gnome-desktop')
    makedepends=('bzr' 'python' 'pygobject' 'pygtk' 'vala' 'gobject-introspection')
    optdepends=('python')
    conflicts=('libdesktop-agnostic')
    And I still get the build error. I suspect the workaround is to force a removal of gtk-gir but I'm hesitating because I really don't want to break my AWN installation.
    Am I being too cautios - or is there a better way of doing this?
    Thanks!

  • Awf: a widget factory, theme viewer for gtk2 and gtk3

    Hi all,
    I've started to play with gtk themes and I was trying to have a consistent theme between gtk2 & gtk3.
    I currently own blue themes: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=50952 and https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=47730 but they are incomplete and sometimes incorrect.
    To be able to rework them I needed a theme viewer that share the same code between gtk2 and gtk3. I've found some upgrades of 'The widget factory' but I've not been able to find complete/correct tools so I decided to rewrite 'the widget factory'. I've named it 'A widget factory' simply because it really looks like 'The widget factory'.
    Improvements compared to 'The widget factory':
    - same code for both gtk2 and gtk3 (except for the obvious different widgets i.e. 'option menu' in gtk2 only and 'gtk switch' in gtk3 only)
    - allow to choose system theme or user theme
    - allow to refresh the current theme
    - allow to start the equivalent theme viewer in the other gtk version
    - some widgets have been added.
    Here is the pkgbuild: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=54550
    Any problems, please report.
    Enjoy!

  • A small wrapper script for setting the lib32-gtk environment.

    Hi all,
    i've created a small script [1], which sets the gtk2 environment for
    lib32 applications.
    Thanks to buttons and alexwizard...
    just put run_bin32_gtk before the app command.
    I use this script for QT4 apps mostly, for instance:
    run_bin32_gtk opera
    or
    run_bin32_gtk skype --disable-cleanlooks
    so it fits best in my gnome environment...
    best wishes
    [1] http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=27419

    I did something similar a couple of months ago, but instead of attempting to be clever and guessing what the background image is supposed to be, I just write it in the filename. Since some pictures just end up being too bright (or whatever) when used as a background to a urxvt terminal, I added some extra parameters for setting gamma, brightness, tint and the direction the image should be rendered. It relies on hsetroot for actually rendering the picture.
    #!/usr/bin/python
    # set-background
    import sys, os, string, re
    patterns = [ (re.compile("t-([a-f\d]+)"), lambda x: "-tint \#" + x)
    , (re.compile("b-([\d]+)"), lambda x: "-brightness -0." + x)
    , (re.compile("g-([\d]+)"), lambda x: "-gamma "+ x)
    , (re.compile("f-(v|h|d)"), lambda x: "-flip" + x)
    def buildCommand(file):
    output = ["hsetroot"]
    output.append("-" + (string.split(file,".")[-2]))
    output.append(file)
    for token in string.split(file,".")[1:-2]:
    for (pat,f) in patterns:
    if pat.match(token):
    output.append( f(pat.findall(token)[0]))
    return string.join(output)
    print buildCommand(img)
    os.system(buildCommand(img))
    # vim:set et:
    So for instance, an image with the name background.t-704214.f-v.full.jpg would be rendered as a stretched image, flipped vertically with a sepia tint. The files are required to be in the following format NAME.(MODIFIER.)*TYPE.SUFFIX, where the the order and number of modifiers are unimportant. The gamma values are somewhat unintuitive, but I guess you'll just have to play around with it to get it right.
    And to randomize the whole thing, I just used the following script in my .xinitrc to randomly pick a image from a folder.
    #!/bin/bash
    bg_folder="$HOME/.backgrounds";
    pics=($(ls $bg_folder))
    let "n = $RANDOM % ${#pics[@]}"
    (cd $bg_folder; set-background ${pics[$n]})

  • Mac Menubar applet for Xfce/GNOME panels!

    AUR: for Xfce 4.4 | GNOME  2.16
    It's in my repository ("xfce4-macmenu-plugin" and gnome-macmenu-applet):
    [AqD]
    Server = http://people.os-zen.net/aqd/repository
    You also need gtk2-aqd >= 2.10.6-2 from my repo and xfce 4.4 from shadowhand's or gnome 2.16
    To move or remove the applet, move mouse pointer to the rightmost place of the menubar, where you will see something appearing like a flat button, then: (for Xfce) right-click on it, or (for GNOME) left-click on it, don't release button until you select the menu item.
    You can right-click to get the panel menu (for restart/quit) if there is no window focused.
    Problems and solutions: · GNOME/GTK2 apps' menubars cannot be restored to the original state once you use this applet. However, they wouldn't die even if the applet/panel crashes - restarting panel will catch them back.
    · After you restart the panel, the menubar of currently active window may not be visible, unfocus/focus (or shade/unshade) the main window will make it appear again
    · Restarting WM may cause some menubars to disappear - restarting panel will solve this
    Cheers!

  • Best practice for replacing a package with equivalent, lots of deps

    I was having CPU issues, posted about a bit back in another thread, which brought up the fact that it might have been related to the nvidia version at that time (325.15). As a result, I switched to nvidia-beta and nvidia-utils-beta from AUR.
    Nvidia from extra is now up to 331.20, and I was thinking of switching back so that I wouldn't always be surprised after a kernel update that no screens were found (AUR packages don't tend to flag updates just because linux updated). Not a big deal, as I just have to re-build the AUR package and I'm set. Anyway, I was going to switch back to the standard nvidia packages, but am not sure what to do about the dependencies on libgl, provided by nvidia-libgl-beta (a split-package provided by nvidia-utils-beta):

    :: Do you want to remove these packages? [Y/n]
    As you might imagine, I'd prefer not to remove all of those packages just to switch my libgl providing package and then re-install.
    In digging around, I found this entry on downgrading packages without respecting dependencies.
    Is that the best method for doing what I describe above as well? Would I do something like `pacman -Rd nvidia-utils-beta` (without X running) and then install the packages from extra?

    It should be similar to switching to nouveau driver https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nouveau
    Just:
    # pacman -Rdds nvidia-beta nvidia-utils-beta
    # pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils

  • [SOLVED] Why do some GTK apps refuse to change appearance?

    I have some gtk applications like Brasero, Nautilus etc. that do not follow lxappearance config in "~/gtk-3.0/setting.ini" and ".gtkrc-2.0"
    gtk-theme-name="ThinIce"
    gtk-icon-theme-name="Tango"
    gtk-font-name="Sans 10"
    gtk-cursor-theme-name="Adwaita"
    gtk-cursor-theme-size=0
    gtk-toolbar-style=GTK_TOOLBAR_ICONS
    gtk-toolbar-icon-size=GTK_ICON_SIZE_SMALL_TOOLBAR
    gtk-button-images=0
    gtk-menu-images=0
    gtk-enable-event-sounds=1
    gtk-enable-input-feedback-sounds=1
    gtk-xft-antialias=1
    gtk-xft-hinting=1
    gtk-xft-hintstyle="hintfull"
    pcmanfm however does work fine and correctly uses icons/themes, while others do use some default icons and pretty ugly theme.
    Why is so?

    pcmanfm and pidgin use gtk2, brasero and nautilis gtk3. lxappearance sets correctly gtk2 and fails at gtk3 as said before. GT2 and GTK3 configs are not the same. GTK3 is backwars compatible IIRC meaning you can use your gtk3 theme for gtk2 apps but not viceversa.
    Seems that something in your gtk3 config is wrong ¿Are you using a gtk2 theme for gtk3?
    for the libreoffice issue if you're using a dark theme: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Li … -qt-engine

  • Libgc & gtk devel packages

    Hello
    I am Basile Starynkevitch http://starynkevitch.net/Basile/ (living in France near Paris, born in 1959, professionally working on GCC, in particular its MELT branch). My intern Jeremie Salvucci suggested me to try Arch Linux.
    I am using Linux since 1993, but I just started using Arch Linux (x886_64) today and installed it on my laptop (Intel Core2 + Intel graphics + Intel Wifi). My usual distributions are Debian or Ubuntu (but I did sometimes try Slackware, Mandriva, Redhat, ...).
    I did try a little bit to google, but I have trouble finding
    1. how to install the GTK development packages (those providing the gtk/*.h files etc.)
    2. how to install the GTK & Gnome API documentation
    3. how to install all the depenencies & packages required to build GCC 4.5?
    4. How to install the Boehm's garbage collector development package
    5. what is the Arch way of doing what 'apt-cache search' is doing on Debian or Ubuntu, i.e. listing every package name which has some given words in its description (not only its name)?
    6. how to make Arch boot in graphical mode on my laptop (Gnome + GDM and dependencies like udev & dbus)
    7. How to install all Arch packages related to Ocaml
    Sorry for such naive questions.
    Regards.
    Basile Starynkevitch http://starynkevitch.net/Basile/

    Welcome to the forums.
    'man pacman' will answer most of your questions, or at least get you started. The other is that Arch does not split out the header files. For instance:
    ~ > pacman -Ql gtk2 | grep include
