Guest enrollment (self-service) on WLC 5508
Hi folks,
My desired setup is to integrate wlc 5508 (guest anchor) into cisco ise or nac server for guest authentication.
And then, ise or nac will connect to an SMS gateway to deliver credentials to mobile phones.
But I am looking into something unique where guests that enter into our facility can do self-enrollment. (i.e. guest connects to ssid and redirected to web authentication that asks for user information like name, email, mobile, etc).
After this process, guest will receive an sms for the credentials.
Does anyone here know a reliable third party software for the said enrolment that will work fine with my setup.
Your response are highly appreciated.
Hi Saurav,
Now it is supported on 1.3

NAC Guest Server - Self Service
Hello all,
I have a problem with NAC Guest Server and the self service feature.
When I use the self service feature with auto login it works fine.
But the customer would like to disable the auto login feature and the guest has to fill in his username /password.
These credentials will created by the NAC
When I click "add user", there is the message: user successful created.
but I don't have the possibilty to reach the login page with username/password with my browser.
But There is no redirect to the login page with username/password and when I refresh the browser or restat my browser, I will always reach the "self service" page.
I hope someone had a similar problem and can help.
thanks
Martinhave you allowed pop-ups on the browsers?
did you try switching the browser?

Guest Server - Self-Service login page
Hi
Has anyone managed to customise the spash page users see when they login ?
We are trying things like stopping the "access plan" from displaying and the phone country code to default to 44 and not +1.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
ThanksLouise, I'm not quite following the second part of your question.
Customizing the splash page is a fairly simple process and there are examples available on CCO. Assuming you are using a WLC there is a webauth bundle that is located on the WLC download section, inside this bundle there are various options for page layouts as well as an instruction file letting you know how to use them. The main thing to remember is that the file size is limited of the tar file that you create and you need to use 7zip for example on Windows to create proper bundle.
ISE also has the ability to host the captive portal as well and there should be an example of that floating around on CCO as well I think. The same concept applies, you modify the HTML pages to your liking, tar them up, and then upload to your ISE box. -
hi all;
dose the ISE support the guest self-service , we are planning to broadcast Guest SSID , this SSID will redirect the Guest for self-service page to enter his mobile number , then the guest will click on subnet button , after that the ISE will generate Username and password will be sent by SMS gateway.
ThanksHi,
Yes ISE does support Guest Self Service. Please check the below link,

Cisco WLC 5508 with 3702APs - mobile hotspot for 2000 Guest users
Cisco WLC 5508 with 3702APs - mobile hotspot for 2000 Guest users
I've been given a fantastic "opportunity" by my boss to use our existing wireless infrastructure to provide internet access to potentially upto 2000 VIP guests arriving with BYOD devices, in a very densely populated area for a 3 day event. We are talking an area of approx 200m x 15m. Think of it as an awards ceremony/concert. The solution will also be mobile so we will be using internet breakout from different telcos as it will move to approx 20 countries. The area is also incredibly densely populated with other wifi APs. I did a brief site survey and AirMagnet could detect over 2500 other 'rogue' APs from where I was stood! I hope CleanAir works!
We need a simple authentication method for them to connect with zero admin from our side. We don't want to just offer up a rolling daily PSK as that's a bit amateur and we don't really want the VIP guests sharing the PSK with others during their stay. Ideally they could self-provision by providing an email address.
I know the WLC can handle webauth for local users but I don't think it scales very well. ie I don't think I can offer the account to several hundred people.
Cisco ISE looks a very expansive (and expensive) product but I don't think we need all it's capabilities (do I?). It would be nice to just ask a potential user for their email address and grant them access and email them next year. I've seen Cisco NAC but that looks over the top too for just guest users who will only be accessing a shared internet connection.
I've seen 3rd party supposed software solutions from Kiosk Antamedia etc do they work with Cisco Enterprise WLC solutions?
We'd like to limit users to a certain (low) bandwidth and block (say) torrent traffic to keep the general user experience worthwhile.
Does anybody have any case study documents or experience of such a project? As well as the authentication it's how well the APs will handle the dense potential number of clients trying to connect in such a confined space.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated from the knowledgeable community.
Cheers,
MikeHi Rasika,
We are having WLC 5508 model with software version running 7.4.121.0. AP Models are AIR-CAP2602I.
Normally our WAN links are good even while the issue pertains. We are connected to remote offices over ipsec site to site vpn for WAN. The link latency in WLC between the AP and the controller shows <1ms.
currently the Guest network is using WPA2-PSK auth given in the controller. we are trying to find a option to make the Guest wireless auth local to the office, and see if this solves the problem.
any suggestions,
Thank you,

ISE 1.2 SMS Notification for Self Service Guests
Is there a way to have guest account credentials created through using the Self Service feature sent via SMS text? I have read where this can be setup via the sponsor portal, but I have not seen much about self service option
Also, is there an SMS gateway that can be setup easily for testing this funcionailty? Thanks.ISE 1.2 does not support sending credentials to Self Service Guests via SMS message.
This feature, sending credentials to Self Service Guests via SMS message and email, will be in version 1.3. This release is tentatively scheduled for the end of July 2014.

Hi all,
is there is an option in cisco ISE to send email to the network/security administrator after the guests finish the self service/provisioning process?
thanks in advanceHi Ibrahimjj ,
Yes You Can do it Create a user in Administrators List > Admin Users select the Include system alarms in emails Enter your email address.
Note : You need to allow ISE ip address in SMTP relay.
I am doing the same thing i am getting message from the ise box.
Guests finish the self service Admin Will receive the email.
Find the below sample email.

ISE Guest Self-Service Emailing Credentials
Hi Guys,
Is it possible to setup the ISE to automatically send a self-service guest their credentials via email once they've registered as appose to simply showing them onscreen ?
I know it's possible to do so once they've registered through the sponsor portal, but the customer would like it done by default.
Thanks,
NickThis is not currently supported. I am including a link to the feature enhancement request for your reference:

You can try one thing. Set the class to be restricted and disable the approval for user (Self Enrollment Option) and see if the error is there.
Is there any personalization been done in the review page? -
Employee Self Enrollment into Benefits via Self Service
Hi, Please help me with this. When an employee enrolls into benefits through Self Service during the open enrollment period, will the Enrollment Method Always be recorded as 'E' for explicit as opposed to 'D' for Default in the BEN_PRTT_ENRT_RSLT_F table under column ENRT_MTHD_CD? Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks, Naveen Gagadam.Hi Naveen,
Yes, the enrollment method is described as 'E' every single time unless the enrollment was automatic for which it will be 'A' or defaulted for which it will be 'D'.
Note that D does not mean that the choice was a default choice (it means that also) but that the enrollment was created by the default enrollment process.
Ex : Medical - Employee Only is a default choice for all employees.
Employee A goes into self-service and enrolls in all plans of his choice but chooses to keep Medical - Employee Only. The enrollment method is marked as 'E'E
Employee B never goes to selfservice. The Default enrollment process assigns the default choice Medical - Employee Only to employee. The enrollment method is marked 'D'
hope that helps.

WLC 5508 - What is the use of service port.
Hi,
I am getting hard to understand use of service port in wlc 5508,
Even after reading so much post and cisco note I am not understanig the use of (Even basic use) service port.
As I understand service port should be access port and should be in diffrent vlan.
Pleae help me to understand it in simple way....Hi Tarun,
Like others mentioned it is used for Out of Band Management of a WLC. Many do not use this as it could leads to issues unless you properly configure it & put it onto two completely different supernets. Config guides highlighted those restrictions & below is one of them listed in 7.4 config guide
Do not configure wired clients in the same VLAN or subnet of the service port of the controller on the network. If you configure wired clients on the same subnet or VLAN as the service port, it is not possible to access the management interface of the controller.
In situations you can use it to get access by directly connecting a laptop to take configuration backup or restore configuration to a controller. In the below post I have used service port to take backup & restore the configuration to a WLC.

And other port in WLC i will connect on Cisco Core Switch for other SSID's and for management. Now the question is how to divide port in WLC 5508, how to point layer 3 traffic if don't configure switch port as trunk.
Kindly what will be best solution.sh etherchannel 99 sum

Cisco ISE 1.2 & Cisco WLC 5508 v7.6
Hi all,
we are planning to upgrade our WLC to 7.6 to fix a bug with FlexConnect Client ACLs but I have just seen on the Cisco ISE Compatibility table that the it only recommends up to v7.5 of the WLC 5508...
Cisco have told me to steer clear of 7.5 as it is in a defferred status, so does anyone know, or have running in a lab or production, ISE1.2 with a 5508 WLC v7.6 NAD ?
I would much rather know of any issues people are experiencing before hand than to have to go through a software upgrade and then rollback.
Thanks all
Mario De RosaHi Neno,
right I have this almost working now.
I have simplified the setup. I am not going to do any client provisioning at the moment.
So I can connect to the corporate SSID using EAP-TLS and I can successfully push the branch data VLAN upon successful authorisation.
Now I am trying to introduce the posture element & per user ACLs.
I have defined the redirect ACL & Flex ACL on the vWLC however the NAC agent will not pop-up. The client is in the right VLAN and the redirect ACL seems to be getting applied as the client does get an IP through DHCP. However, the client cannot ping the ISE or access the guest portal when I open the browser.
DNS resolution seems to be working fine.
VLAN220 is my datacentre VLAN which the Management Interface on the controller is plugged in to.
VLAN10 is the branch DATA VLAN.
